The SpaceCharming 1915 Craftsman house on Silver Lake hilltop with views of Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, Silver Lake and Hollywood hillsides, San Gabriel Mountains and lush terraced backyard.
This is a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1700 sq. ft. home with fantastic original character and plenty of breathing room inside and out. The house has a vintage feel with hardwood floors, built-in cabinets, sun room with large bay windows, vintage tiled kitchen and bathrooms. The interior space is quiet and serene with great natural light throughout the day, amazing sunsets and cross breezes.
The house is tucked away on quiet street just north of Sunset Boulevard, on the border of Silver Lake and Echo Park. Once you wind up the hill, it is very serene, given that you are minutes from all the conveniences these neighborhoods have to offer.
The house is rather ideally laid out with bedrooms and bathrooms separated by a common space, and gardens terraced into individual spaces and levels, so if privacy is important you can easily find your solitude here.
Your bedroom is furnished with a full sized antique bed with new pillow top mattress, a nice sized closet and a freestanding wardrobe for extra storage. Two windows look out onto the backyard, with views of the Observatory and mountains all the way to Brentwood. The attached private bathroom has a large vintage tiled shower (no tub) and sink with vanity.
The Entry room is airy and open with a fireplace and wood paneled ceiling and flows into a spacious dining room, paneled with built-ins and a vintage tin top table that seats 6. The living room area has a daybed/couch fit for sleeping and opens on to a sun room lined with windows with brilliant sunlight and views all day long. There is a TV with basic cable and dvd player tucked away in a cabinet to watch… or not. The Vintage Kitchen has an O’Keefe and Merritt 4 burner stove, an 1960s refrigerator, tiled counter spaces, large farm style porcelain sink and a small table. There is a washer/dryer. There is no dishwasher.
The large front covered porch has a porch swing, chairs, and wide steps for sitting. Views of the San Gabriel mountains can be seen to the Northeast. The front yard is gated, hedged and fenced for privacy.
A huge terraced backyard is also fenced and private with patio area, Weber BBQ grill, two picnic tables (seating 12), lounge chairs, and five terraces of gardens with mature trees, bougainvillea, giant cactus, lemon, lime, guava, fig and avocado trees.
The house is located on the border of Echo Park and Silver Lake, so it is right in the middle of downtown Los Angeles and Hollywood. The neighborhood is very eclectic, offering unique boutiques and restaurants, bars, music venues, art galleries, cafes and bookstores, all within walking distance. Within 5 minutes you will find coffee shops, health food stores, supermarkets, dance and yoga studios, breakfast spots, organic juice bars and public transit.
