The SpaceThis was the first Airbnb listing in Sitka. I'm offering a friendly place to stay for women traveling on a budget while visiting or doing business in Sitka. Guest AccessYou will have the living room to yourself after 9 or 10 pm. You will have use of the kitchen and shared bath. In the summer, the back deck is a nice place to relax in the evening. No TV, but wireless Internet. Interaction with GuestsI'm happy to interact with guests as much as they like. From my first year's experience, my guests are mostly professional women with whom I share some common interests. I will most likely be present during most of your stay. The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is quiet and only a short walking distance to downtown. The view shown on the map is not really accurate, as it is down the street from my home and does not show my home. Getting AroundOne can catch the bus downtown or at the grocery store, both a few minutes walk away. Other Things to NoteSome breakfast foods will always be available and included in the price. You're welcome to use the kitchen and fix your own. I do have two cats that spend almost all of their time outdoors.

The SpaceWe are the oldest and most experienced sailing charter boat in Southeast Alaska. Others have come and gone, but Sound Sailing has been providing safe, comfortable and fun sailing adventures for over 27 years. The sailboat is a 4-cabin 50' Catalina with lots of room. Your berth is a roomy comfortable cabin with a nearly-king-sized bed and a private toilet and shower. Our prices are per-person based on double occupancy. If you would like to have the berth to yourself, we apply a single-person surcharge. Trips are usually 7-10 days. Guest AccessAll our ports-of-call are served by daily Alaska Airlines jet service. We also have kayaks to explore the bays and islands in. Skiff with outboard for running to the beach. Fishing poles and tackle included. All meals provided by excellent cooks. Interaction with GuestsSailors tend to be social and fun. We like that. Dinners are usually family-style, but you can sit outside on the deck or in the cockpit to enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Your berth is a nice place for a nap or some alone-time. We love games in the evenings and sharing stories. Prepare to meet some amazing new friends The NeighborhoodAlaskans love showing off Alaska and we cruise the spectacular waters of the Inside Passage. We think this is the best of Alaska and are proud to provide trips in Glacier Bay National Park, Admiralty Island National Monument, and the Tongass National Forest. The wildlife and scenery are remarkable, and it seems like something incredible happens every day. Whether your goal is photographing brown bears feeding, seeing humpback whales, kayaking through icebergs, hooking onto a big fish, or adding new birds to your “life-list”, we look forward to sharing this majestic area with you! The boat will be provisioned according to your preferences and our specialty is fresh seafood that we catch along the way! Getting AroundJuneau and Sitka have bus service. We recommend a rental car in Juneau to see the sights. Many hotels have airport/ harbor shuttle vans. Petersburg and Sitka are very walkable or rent a bike. Other Things to NoteAll trips are multi-day in nature. Please bring warm clothes and rain gear. Contact host before booking for more information. This will likely be the best trip you've ever taken.

The SpaceVery charming, clean, bright studio accessed via private entrance in back of owner occupied home. Located in downtown Sitka. Easy walking to grocery stores, cafes, shops and all of Sitka's main sites. Bathroom has large jet-tub, high quality towels and basic organic bath supplies (soap, shampoo etc.). No full kitchen but the room has a mini fridge, microwave and hot water kettle as well as dishware, towels and some basics. (*Please note the only sink is in the bathroom.) Local organic Coffee and a variety of tea are provided. There is a table and chairs that serve as a breakfast nook or for a work space. High speed wireless internet provided. Large comfortable queen bed with high quality down bedding. Space also has a comfortable full size futon. If you wish to use the futon as an extra bed please select 3 guests and extra bedding for the futon will be provided. Very large walk-in closet/ storage space to unpack and store your belongings. Space has a guest yoga mat and book exchange as well as a variety of local natural history reference books to borrow during your stay. A notebook of items of local interest and maps is provided. Guest AccessThere is a small backyard/garden space shared with owner. It is a nice place to drink coffee or read on a sunny day. Bicycle storage in outdoor shed is available. House is accessed via a key box so late night arrivals are no problem. Interaction with GuestsThe space is private, but if you if you have questions owner is long time Sitkan happy to provide guests with basic information about transportation, local sights, trails etc before or during your stay but please note owner may be out of town during rental. If owner is gone a local contact is available for questions or to assist should any problems arise. The NeighborhoodLocated in downtown Sitka. Getting AroundPublic transit is only a block away. Most attractions, stores etc are within easy walking distance. The airport is about a 25 minute walk. There is an airport and ferry hotel shuttle (certain times of the year) that will drop you at the house. Off street parking for one vehicle is available. Other Things to NotePlease note that some prior reviews relate to the spring/summer 2015 when guest shared the main home with the owner. The space has been remodeled to create the efficiency so the bathroom is now en-suite. The space is all on the main level but there are a few steps leading up to the door. Price includes all local sales and bed taxes.

The SpaceDreaming Bear Suites are located in the center of downtown Sitka, but on a quiet side street. We built them to have all the things we like to have when we travel, including plenty of kitchen amenities, beautiful art work, books to read, comfortable beds and more. Guest AccessOur central location is a half block from Crescent harbor, a grocery, coffee shops and restaurants, and the historical and cultural center of Sitka. Interaction with GuestsWe love to meet our guests and fill them in on things to do, or leave them alone as they want. You just ask and we shall provide. The NeighborhoodWhale and sea otter cruises, hiking in the Tongass National Forest, Sitka National Historical Park, deep sea salmon fishing, Sitka Summer Music Festival, kayaking, biking and bear viewing to name a few. Getting AroundLocated one mile from the airport and 7 miles from the ferry terminal. Public shuttles run from both places. There is also a public transit system. We provide free parking. Sitka has Great walkability.

      Located on scenic Sitka Sound, directly across from Mt Edgecumb Volcano, Sharon's Cabin on The Sound offers incredible Alaskan experiences; Relax in our Waterfront Hot Tub while watching for eagles, whales, sea lions and more. Get to know Freddie, our resident otter, as he swims on his back each morning watching you have coffee.  Sharon's Cabin on The Sound Upper is 3 Bedrooms, 3 baths with living, dining, kitchen, laundry and deck. Upper will sleep 6 comfortably. Living/dining and kitchen area is on the oceanfront, with incredible views that wrap around from end to end. Each bedroom has a connected bath with shower,and a TV with dvd player. There is also free high-speed wireless internet.Just remodeled in 2014, the kitchen has all new stainless steel appliances, as well as most anything else you need, including; blender, mixer, crock pot, wok and much more. The deck has a large propane grill.If you have more than six, the Lower level, Sharon's Cabin Lower, is rented separate, and is; 1 bedroom, 1 bath, living, dining, kitchen combo, with laundry and deck that will sleep 3. During the winter, there is a second lower level unit, Sharon's Corner Cabin, which is smaller and will sleep up to 3.Upstairs has an incredible view end to end, all new appliances, and a kitchen to allow an easier working path and an island to allow visiting while cooking. Sea Mart Grocery, Sitka's biggest grocery is less than a mile away and the bus stop if you choose not to rent a car is only about 100 yards away.Relax on the deck in the early morning and watch for whales, sea lions and otter in Sitka Sound. Eagles, frequent visitors will also welcome you with their screeching call.A thick patch of salmon berry bushes in the yard allows plenty of mid to late summer picking at your leisure. Located just a short 15 minutes boat ride from Sitka, the Rockwell Lighthouse is a fully-furnished vacation rental and has operated as an official navigational aid since 1985.  The Sitka Rockwell Lighthouse has four levels, with the living, dining, kitchen and bath on the first, as well as a walk-around deck. One bedroom with a queen bed and a bath on the second floor, an extra-long twin bunk bed set on the third and a fourth, which is the cupola, which offers stunning views of surrounding islands and incredible sunsets. Imagine relaxing here in the evening, a glass of wine in-hand and taking in the sun as it kisses the top of Mt. Edgecumbe, Sitka's well known volcano. Widescreen HD TV (DVDs only, it is a Smart TV with Netflix, and Occasionally when internet is doing well you can watch a movie, but not always, and limited Wireless Internet. Things you should bring.. yourself, your best buds, the family. Food, Charcoal, binoculars, rubber boots Things you SHOULD NOT bring; expectation of silk sheets, glass chandeliers, high-end furnishings. This is an operational lighthouse and as such has seen a lot of use. Bedding and bath furnishings are kept upgraded, but due to the challenges of transporting appliances and furniture off the island, things are used until they wear out. The owner strives to make it as comfortable as possible, but being on an island, comforts available are limited, (limited internet and no cable tv or satellite tv due to the surrounding mountains). Windows have some spray damage, so you they may not be as clear as what we would like. We'd replace them, but within a couple months, they'd be the same. In the winter storms do a number on them. That's living on an island. Decks when wet are slippery. Like any Alaskan, you need to have boots on when you go out on a wet deck.  If you can deal with not so new furnishings, a TV that you can only watch dvds on and limited internet, inbetween watching eagles swoop low to catch their fish of the day and whales blowing and waving as they pass by, and otters rolling and tumbling just feet away from your deck. Amenities & Accommodations Sitka's Rockwell Lighthouse offers sleeping for up to 8 with a queen bed on the second floor, one set of bunk-beds on the third floor, and two hide-a-beds in the living room. There's also a small couch on the cupola. Over the years, many quests have taken their sleeping bags up to cupola and spent their nights there, not wanting to miss a single moment of the incredible sunrises and sunsets.The kitchen is fully equipped with most anything you need. It also has a dishwasher and a trash compactor, which are both operational. It has the basics, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, as well as most any dish needed for making family dinners. Water is collected via Sitka's wonderful rain and collected in a rain barrel and is what furnishes all the island's bathing needs, and we consider it the tastiest water there is, but some visitors prefer to bring bottles of drinking water.The lighthouse is only about 15 minutes by boat from the city of Sitka. The owner also has a small skiff, which you are welcome to borrow to go back and forth to Sitka, if you are comfortable with a skiff. In the summer, the owner, Burgess Bauder, a local veterinarian, offers once daily trips into Sitka at no charge and will also pick you up from the airport and take you out to the island on arrival. Please see notes regarding stays September - March.Sitka Sound Ocean Adventures offers kayak rentals, which can be delivered to the Lighthouse for your use.Price shown is for up to 4 guests. $25 for each additional guest. Summer high season is from May - September, although any season is great at the lighthouse.Available in the winter, but some limits apply. We would love to have you as a winter guests, but there are several things to consider, so we prefer that you call to chat before booking a stay for dates from Sept 1 through March. September and October, the owner is not available for transport, so guests are responsible for the this, including the cost. It might be possible to have someone else take you out, but that would have to be prearranged and you would have to pay that captain. Weather is not always, but can be very cold and windy in the winter. October is considered our windiest month, so, again, transportation may be an issue.As the weather turns colder, if we have a hard freeze, water will need to be ported in. It's always best to bring your drinking water.The ideal guest for the winter would have their own boat and be comfortable driving back and forth from Sitka to the Lighthouse. This is an operational lighthouse and as such has seen a lot of use. Bedding and bath furnishings are kept upgraded, but due to the challenges of transporting appliances and furniture off the island, things are used until they wear out. The owner strives to make it as comfortable as possible, but being on an island, comforts available are limited, (limited internet and no cable tv or satellite tv due to the surrounding mountains). Windows have some spray damage, so you they may not be as clear as what we would like. We'd replace them, but within a couple months, they'd be the same. In the winter storms do a number on them. That's living on an island. Decks when wet are slippery. Like any Alaskan, you need to have boots on when you go out on a wet deck.  If you can deal with not so new furnishings, a TV that you can only watch dvds on and limited internet, inbetween watching eagles swoop low to catch their fish of the day and whales blowing and waving as they pass by, and otters rolling and tumbling just feet away from your deck. Amenities & Accommodations Sitka's Rockwell Lighthouse offers sleeping for up to 8 with a queen bed on the second floor, one set of bunk-beds on the third floor, and two hide-a-beds in the living room. There's also a small couch on the cupola. Over the years, many quests have taken their sleeping bags up to cupola and spent their nights there, not wanting to miss a single moment of the incredible sunrises and sunsets.The kitchen is fully equipped with most anything you need. It also has a dishwasher and a trash compactor, which are both operational. It has the basics, coffee pot, toaster, microwave, as well as most any dish needed for making family dinners. Water is collected via Sitka's wonderful rain and collected in a rain barrel and is what furnishes all the island's bathing needs, and we consider it the tastiest water there is, but some visitors prefer to bring bottles of drinking water.The lighthouse is only about 15 minutes by boat from the city of Sitka. The owner also has a small skiff, which you are welcome to borrow to go back and forth to Sitka, if you are comfortable with a skiff. In the summer, the owner, Burgess Bauder, a local veterinarian, offers once daily trips into Sitka at no charge and will also pick you up from the airport and take you out to the island on arrival. Please see notes regarding stays September - March.Sitka Sound Ocean Adventures offers kayak rentals, which can be delivered to the Lighthouse for your use.Price shown is for up to 4 guests. $25 for each additional guest. Summer high season is from May - September, although any season is great at the lighthouse.Available in the winter, but some limits apply. I am out of the house most of the days and some of the nights but frequently step in between jobs. I have lived in Sitka for 23 years and I love to share my knowledge of the community. I can make recommendations for you to find everything you need and some of the secrets of Sitka that you may enjoy. I have two cats who come and go as they please. I would not allow them in your room but you are welcome to invite them in if you choose. The NeighborhoodMy home is in downtown Sitka within a five minute walk to the mountain trails and a five minute walk to the ocean. This is considered the historic district of Sitka and there are many lovely homes in my family friendly neighborhood. I am within a ten minute walk to all of the restaurants (except one), museums, Raptor Center, downtown shopping and galleries, National Historic Park, Sheldon Jackson campus and harbors. Getting AroundThere is plenty of parking at my home if you have an automobile, but most people wouldn't need one. Buses run weekdays 6am-7pm and cabs are available. I also have two bicycles and 3 kayaks that you may borrow upon request. Other Things to NoteRemember that Sitka is in a rain forest. Bring your boots. But I will also try to keep a few raincoats around for you to borrow if needed. The home is downtown and within walking distance of virtually EVERYTHING. I will keep an assortment of maps and brochures and directories to all of the local eateries. Your room is equipped with a coffee maker and small refrigerator. I will keep a small supply of coffee/tea/fruit/granola bars on hand. If you are coming in on a late flight and I am aware I will make an extra effort to put some other food things in your room to hold you over until morning. Meals are not generally provided but it might be a good idea to let me know if you have food allergies? Do you use cream in your coffee? Price reflects nightly rate $65. plus 11% city/bed tax.

Plush upholstery of couch and chairs allow you to sink into comfort, and the new widescreen tv allows electronic entertainment where you can tear yourself away from the outside beauty. Outside, the beautiful gardens invite you for a walk with unexpected treasures around every turn. Penny Brown, the owner is always more than happy to give you a tour and share with you her "special" babies, like the "Icelandic Blue" poppies, and the dainty yellow trillum that wraps around an old spruce tree. And, a walk along the beach can bring unexpected treasures from the sea; live ones, an otter bobbing at the surfact with a baby resting her stomach, or small brown martin scurrying under a log to hide it's find of the day, or dead ones, like a piece of blue seaglass tumbled by the sea to a smooth finish, a discarded shell that glistens in the morning light, or dried driftwood, perfect for a creative spark. If you enjoy golfing, about a five minute walk is Sea Mountain Golfing Range, or there's Halibut Point Rec, for fishing, hiking and exploring, or Starigavin, a popular area to watch for the grey heron, deer and the occasional bear. All this and more await you. To reserve the second bedroom guests must book the reservation for four guests. The added fee is automatically applied. Interaction with GuestsWe are out of town at times while guests stay at the apartment. There is always a house sitter/ housekeeper available for guest requests/concerns. I typically contact guests at the beginning of their stay to help accommodate their needs, but then limit interactions to only clients' needs to allow them to enjoy the peace and quiet that the property adorns. The NeighborhoodThe apartment is approximately 0.52 miles (0.84 km) away from Lincoln Street, which is the main arterial of downtown. It is a relatively downhill walk along a residential street. When you've reached the end of Monastery Street, you will be looking at our beautiful Crescent Harbor and the big wide Pacific Ocean. Getting AroundA local bus company can shuttle you in to town from the airport or the ferry terminal (Sitka Tour Company). If available, hosts may be able to accommodate your transport into town.

                                                    Located about 4 miles from downtown Sitka, Magic Island Vacation Rental is perfect lodging for a large group.  With 4 bedrooms, plus a loft sleeping area, and two living areas, family and friends have lots of room to relax and enjoy all the comforts of home. Three bedrooms have two twins, which can be combined to a king bed in each and one bedroom with a queen. With a focus on high quality and comfortable furnishings and high quality beds, you're sure to be able to relax and enjoy your visit to Alaska. The living room has a wide screen TV and all bedrooms have new in 2012, 32 inch flat screen tvs. There's also an upstairs hallway that has a TV in the armoire. Magic Island comes with fully equipped kitchen, laundry and dining.  The dining table will seat up to 10 with extensions.  It also has a large wrap-a-round front porch, with reclining chairs for relaxing in the evening. Evenings can be spent in the large 6 person hot tub, while taking in the beautiful panoramic view. This home is Owner-Managed.  Welcome Home Vacations is working as their Reservation Agent, only.
