Note on location. A major search engine maps us a few miles away from where we actually are. We are in central Skamokawa, a 5 minute walk from the general store and paddle center, and across the highway from Skamokawa Vista Park. We are located on the waterside of Skamokawa Creek, which empties into the Columbia River just downstream. Ample seating on the porch when the weather is fine. Free wi-fi. Interaction with GuestsWe'll give you the keys and show you to your apartment when you arrive. We live just next door. Walk on over (or call or text) for any questions you might have or help we can give. The NeighborhoodWe are in the Skamokawa National Historic District. Houses here face Skamokawa Creek. The creek was once the town's 'Main Street', as much travel was done via water. There was no through-road to Skamokawa until the 1930s. The human population is small, outnumbered by a variety of wildlife. You may see deer in the yard, Eagles, Osprey and Red-Tailed Hawks are common sights, as are Herons and many migrating water-fowl. You may hear coyotes yipping in the evening. Beaver, Otter and Nutria are often seen in the local sloughs. Getting Around2 hours drive from Portland, 3 hours from Seattle. We are just off of Washington State Highway 4, about 30 miles west of Longview, Washington. We are an hour away from Longbeach and Astoria. Other Things to NoteWe have one restaurant in our tiny town: The Duck Inn, walking distance, about 7 minutes, American menu and full bar with a deck overlooking Brook's Slough.
