The quaint “Hershey Cabin”, originally owned as a hunting cabin by members of the Hershey (chocolate) family, is nestled on the lush side of the Lake Arrowhead, in historic Arrowhead Villas. It is situated about 1 mile south of Lake Arrowhead Village at an elevation of 5,500 feet. This is not just another rental house, but rather a very quiet, inviting, immaculate and comfortable mountain cabin. THE CABIN MUST BE LEFT IN A NEAT AND CLEAN CONDITION UPON CHECKOUT. IF THIS IS NOT YOUR INTENT, THIS IS NOT THE CABIN FOR YOU! WE CHARGE $50 AN HOUR FOR EXTRA CLEANUP. The Hershey Cabin is the perfect place for a romantic weekend get-away or for an extended vacation. Totally renovated a couple years ago, it has been tastefully decorated to make it the perfect retreat for a private getaway. Every piece of furniture and art has been hand selected by the owners who have a passion for incorporating comfort and elegance in home decor. It is furnished with both antiques and modern furnishings, blended together, to provide the creature comforts of modern day while maintaining the old fashioned warmth of a vintage Lake Arrowhead cabin. During the renovation we basically went down to the studs and rebuilt much of the cabin from the ground up – yet we saved the original footprint and the rustic knotty pine and redwood inside, so that the cabin still has that old fashioned charm. The cabin has a beautifully hand crafted rock fireplace, massive pine mantel, porcelain/slate tile floors with traditional wool rugs, central forced air heating, dual pane windows and fully insulated walls and ceilings. Above the fireplace is a 40 inch high definition, smart flat screen TV (we have high speed internet/WiFi and Netflix and a DVD player), but no cable TV. The living room is a perfect place to snuggle up by the fire and read or watch a movie. The bathroom is brand new - with lots of tile, granite and a frameless glass shower. The kitchen has been totally remodeled with gorgeous granite counter tops, new cupboards and stainless steel appliances. The kitchen is fully equipped with all of the amenities of home. Throughout the cabin, we completely replaced all wiring, light fixtures, pipes, drains and even the water heater. The bedroom has knotty pine walls and ceiling, and the view out the windows makes you feel as if you are nestled in a tree house. The bed has a new memory foam mattress along with beautiful cozy bedding. Outside the bedroom is a brand new wrap-around deck, with bistro tables and chairs where you can enjoy a glass of wine or a meal! In front of the cabin we built a retaining wall to allow easy parking along with concrete steps and a wrought iron banister up to the front door. The cabin is situated on a very quiet road and is easy to find at night, as it has a lighted address. It is surrounded by beautiful firs, pines, maples and cedar trees, along with a nicely landscaped yard. The siding of the cabin is classic craftsman style shake. Lake Arrowhead is a private lake. Unlike many cabins, WE PROVIDE A PASS so you have access to hike the trails around the lake, use the two beach clubs, and fish from the shore or use the Arrowhead Lake Association fishing dock. The Lake Arrowhead area is a little hidden gem, with a quaint village, dinner theater (Tudor House), movie theater, wonderful local restaurants and various shopping opportunities. If you are looking for a romantic get-away, or just a place to relax and have fun, this is just the place. Lake Arrowhead celebrates all four seasons - warm summer days, fall colors, snow in the winter, and a beautiful spring. Licensed by San Bernardino County, short term rental permit #(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)-SUP-R 10/2016. My wife and I look forward to having you as our guests at the Hershey Cabin! The kitchen is completely equipped with new dishes, glasses, pots, pans etc. To meet your needs. The appliances are all new, including the dishwasher and washer and dryer. The NeighborhoodArrowhead Villas (the small historic area where our cabin is located) was originally founded by the infamous mobster “Bugsy Siegel”, of Las Vegas fame. Bugsy Siegel came up with the idea of opening his exclusive members-only resort in the late 1920’s, after realizing that Lake Arrowhead was quickly becoming the new playground for the Hollywood elite. The property, which cost whopping $1.3 million to construct, opened on July 4, 1929. At the time, the resort was comprised of three individual buildings consisting of a private gambling club, a brothel, a speakeasy, luxury guest quarters, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, a barbershop, a private gas station, horse stables, and a highly-coveted supply of artesian well water – which was used in the making of moonshine. The resort’s former Clubhouse, which housed the property’s private gambling club and speakeasy, is now known as “The Tudor House”. At the time that Bugsy managed the property there was a secret underground tunnel which connected the Clubhouse to the Bracken Fern Manor (similar “Tudor” style structure across the street), and was used to allow male guests to travel to the brothel undetected. The Tudor House is now a wonderful dinner theater/ supper club/ concert hall etc. The Tudor House is located at 800 Arrowhead Villas Road, about a half mile from our cabin. Getting AroundYou will need a car or truck to get to our cabin and to explore the Lake Arrowhead area. Other Things to NoteWE ONLY RENT TO ONE OR TWO ADULTS. We also rent out the Gorgeous BURNT MILL CANYON COTTAGE "Just for 2". To see it, just go to the "YOUR HOST" SECTION NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THIS LISTING AND CLICK ON OUR PICTURE, then click on the picture of the cottage.

The NeighborhoodThis is a charming but rustic community on the edge of the National Forest off of an unpaved road. Uncrowded and a near wilderness experience. Our street is a hard packed dirt and gravel road. Easy for most autos but if you are unsure please let me know so I can give you more details. Getting AroundPublic transit is minimal Other Things to NoteMy guests have enjoyed this little cabin over and over. Please note the cabin is a 1 br w/ a loft. Small interior but you can spread out onto the two large decks for al fresco living. So check this out, lots to do if you want to venture out and about: Lake Arrowhead Deep Creek and Bear Creek feature the elusive native Brown Trout. And maps are available at the Discovery Center. If you decide to fish at either of these locations, you will need an Adventure Pass so you can park at the trail-heads nearest the stream and a fishing license. Nightlife in Lake Arrowhead ~ While there are lots of things to do in the Lake Arrowhead area during the day, some people wonder whether the area has much of a nightlife. After all, it is a quiet mountain community. The Lake Arrowhead Bar offers karaoke, drink specials, and what many say is the best Bloody Mary in town. The Grapevine is located in Lake Arrowhead Village, and features tastings and flights, as well as a lakeside view and a light menu which includes fine meats and cheeses and gourmet appetizer fare. Decent cigar selection if you like. Bin 189 is located in Lake Arrowhead Village and offering a full gourmet menu and impressive bar. Also, entertainment is impressive, with a jazz band on Thursday nights, live pianist every Friday night and blues guitar on Saturday night. Hot Shots is an Internet café located in Blue Jay, which is a great option for people who want to meet over coffee instead of alcohol. Serving espresso drinks as well as a light menu and several varieties of frozen yogurt, Hot Shots is affordably priced and often features live entertainment as well as board games and lots of space for hanging out. The Saddleback Inn is a full-service restaurant and bar located just outside of the Village. Good choice for dinner or just drinks. The Lake Arrowhead Sports Grille is perfect for avid or casual sports fans, who want to cheer their favorite teams over a drink or great meal. One of their offers includes “Steal the Glass Tuesday,” where the glass is included in the price of each week’s featured brew. Papagayos features a full bar and extensive Mexican menu. Suitable for kids as well as adults, the Lake Arrowhead Village restaurant often has live bands as well as balloon artists on the weekends. Many say this is the possibly the best place on the mountain to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The Antler’s is located just down the road from Lake Arrowhead proper, in Twin Peaks, and is perfect for anyone who wants an award-winning fine dining experience or just a picturesque location to enjoy a few drinks. Possibly the most exciting nightlife offered in Lake Arrowhead is available at the Tudor House, which opened in 2013. Located in famous mobster Bugsy Seigel’s former hideout, the location is a former speakeasy and casino, which now offers concerts, dinner theater, supper and Sunday brunch. Evening performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; dinner is at 6 p.m. Sunday matinee performances begin at 2 p.m.; brunch is at noon. (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)ark at Santa’s Village should be open in fall 2016. Mountain residents and visitors alike fondly recall the days when Santa’s Village, located just off Highway 18 between Running Springs and Sky Forest, was the spot where Santa Claus and cold weather activities made Lake Arrowhead a great wintertime destination in Southern California. “Our mission statement is to provide the public with an outdoor experience, creating memories of wonder, thrill and camaraderie. There will be a mix of activities to attract all ages: mountain bike trails, hiking trails, zip lines, and fly fishing, snow shoeing, sleigh rides, sledding and other types of snow play.” Several great skiing/snowboarding resorts are located in the San Bernardino Mountains. Snow Valley for snowboarding, skiing or simply enjoying ski-lifted snow play, Snow Valley Mountain Resort is located near Lake Arrowhead, right off Highway 18, in Running Springs. Bear Mtn: Located less than 15 miles from Lake Arrowhead Village Situated at more than 6,000 feet elevation, Night sessions available. Ski at night select dates throughout the season, usually at significantly reduced lift-ticket prices. Perfect for anyone who could benefit from group lessons, mini-snowmobiles, or a “snow play” sledding area. Snow Drift. If your kids are too young to learn to ski or snowboard or if you don’t want to spend the entire day on the slopes, head on over to the snow-tubing park in nearby Running Springs. If you’re headed up the hill for the weekend or week, here is a helpful safety tip. Don’t park your car by the side of the road for snow play. Even if you have an Adventure Pass, you could be ticketed if your vehicle obstructs traffic. Also, you won’t want your kids to play in a place that could be unsafe. So plan to spend the day at Snow Drift or head on over to Snow Valley if you would rather ski or board.

The SpaceGreat for couples, small families, writers or artists to retreat. Great LA escape to recharge as well. Had my first bad review since becoming a vacation rental in 2009- See Alisons review. I believe the review is misleading because everything she mentioned was discussed on the phone prior to her booking but I thought Id mention the access issues and complaints here since I did not see the review in time to respond there and to help clarify the issues she had with access, space, and the large outdoor patio: The bathroom is downstairs and bedrooms are upstairs. It sits on a hillside and has a unique set of stairs that wind through the garden to the front door... it is a "treehouse like cabin" it is difficult for an elderly person (it is a major ordeal for my 85 year old mother to get down to the house and settled) and toddlers need to be watched carefully because of the high balconies. If it gets windy in the fall pine needles and leaves may fall on the deck. Guest AccessGreat place to take walks, private, quiet, and relaxing. Lots of snow in the winter and 25 miles from Snow Valley ski resort. Guests will need chains in winter or 4 wheel drive at a min. Interaction with GuestsI am a phone call away if you have questions or need anything at all The NeighborhoodThe neighborhood is one of the oldest in Lake Arrowhead. Within walking distance is a revived dinner theater once used as the notorious Al Capone as a retreat, "The Tutor House". The changing seasons, mountain air, and privacy make it a very unique and exclusive community in Southern California. The lake Arrowhead Village and Blue Jay villages are within a mile. Both location host music and wine festivals, shopping, and great places to eat
