The SpaceDelightfully inviting lake house on 1.3 private acres, backing on to environmentally protected wetlands with water access to Pigeon Lake. Within minutes to the quaint village of Bobcaygeon, Ontario, you can enjoy the peace of a lakeside getaway with the convenience of shopping, tourist spots and amenities literally a 5 minute drive away. Wake up to loons on the lake and Canada geese on the lawn. Log home comes with full access to full size family canoe, 1 BBQ, main floor and upper decks and inside woodstove. Fully furnished with all bedding, kitchen supplies and appliances (bring your own groceries and paper products (unfortunately, people kept stealing the toilet paper). Private main level Master Bedroom with king size bed, attached bath and French doors opening to the sunroom; upstairs queen bed, double bed, 2 adorable alcove sleeping spots for kids and even an extra cot in the private office! Direct lake access for canoeing right from the back yard. No private beach area on the property, but a great beach is available via a short canoe, and more beaches a 5 minute drive away; popular sandbar for swimming a 5 minute canoe paddle away! Children's playground within walking distance; quiet, dead end road. Fabulous eastern facing location provides beautiful sunrises over the lake. Pigeon Lake is warm and great for bass and perch fishing. Huge backyard features a large stone firepit for those cool nights and toasty marshmallows. Have a look at our pics and you'll love what you see! Guest AccessGuests have full access to private parking, Pigeon Lake via canoe and huge private yard. Interaction with GuestsWe do not live in the area, so our guests will not personally meet us. Entry to the cottage is via a key pad on the door, so no keys are required. The access code is shared with guests before their arrival. The NeighborhoodThe cottage is located on a dead end private road with other houses on the road. It is not in a secluded wilderness area. Getting AroundBobcaygeon is a small, rural tourist area that is actually on an island. No public transit available; easy to walk everywhere after parking your car in town. Other Things to NoteThe property is located on a large, environmentally protected wetland. We are not legally allowed to alter any aspect of the water front. There are gorgeous views of the lake and 'walls of windows'. Some of the lake view is in the protected wetland so you will see tall cattails at the back of the property. This provides extreme privacy but does mean that some of the view of the lake directly is blocked.

The SpaceJust 2 hours from Toronto, this comfortable and updated cottage is the perfect place for your family getaway. Situated on a point, the expansive lawn area has been professionally landscaped with beautiful granite rocks. There are steps into the shallow water for easy entrance, or you can jump in from the spacious dock where there is plenty of room for everyone. Kids will love swimming out to the raft where they can spend hours enjoying the water. Located on the north shore of Lower Buckhorn Lake, on a large point, our cottage has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, sleeps up to 10 people comfortably (8 adults max, adult/child mix is preferable) and has ample relaxing space indoor and out. A large outdoor dining area overlooks the lake. Guest AccessYou’ll have access to all kinds of toys to play with – paddleboat, swimming platform and various lawn toys. Our expansive lawn is safe and perfect for the kids to play on. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the pots and pans you’ll require to prepare meals for your co-cottagers. With full size appliances (including dishwasher) and plenty of counter space, you have lots of room for cooking and mixing up cocktails. You'll also find a BBQ if grilling is your thing. Overlooking the lake, the deck is perfect for sunbathing, reading or eating dinner while you watch the sun go down. Interaction with GuestsGuests enjoy total privacy, owners are not on-site. The NeighborhoodOur cottage is located on the north shore of Lower Buckhorn Lake, which means we are connected to the Trent-Severn waterway. Clear/Stony Lakes and Buckhorn Lake can be accessed via locks. Other Things to NoteIs there a minimum booking period? During the summer period (after Victoria Day long weekend ending on Labour Day long weekend), the cottage is available for one week minimum periods only. Christmas and New Years week have a 4 night minimum, and the rest of the year has a 3 night minimum. How do I get the keys and find the cottage? After receiving and processing your initial deposit and booking form, we will forward a COTTAGE INFO PACKAGE which contains: - A Booking Confirmation, showing balance owing, dates and time of check in and check out. - A map - showing the route/directions from the nearest major community. We will also provide a cottage address that can be confidently used to locate the property using a GPS. - A set of Cottage Instructions - these are our notes on using the cottage. Please review carefully, prior to going to the cottage and call if you have any questions. A binder will also be found at the cottage. Once the cottage is paid in full, we will provide the code for the lockbox, which will be located at the front door and contain the keys to the cottage. When is check-in/check-out? During the high (summer) season, check in will be 3pm. Check out is noon. This gives us time to access the cottage if necessary to check for damage or make little repairs. Do I have to clean the cottage? Yes, you do. Unfortunately in Cottage Country it’s difficult to arrange cleaning services on a consistent basis. Therefore, we require renters to clean the cottage prior to leaving - basically leave the cottage in the same condition as you found it. Cleaning supplies and equipment are ample and found in the cottage. Please refer to the Cottage Instructions for a cleaning checklist. Do I have to bring anything? You must bring your own sheets, pillowcases, bath towels and beach towels. Each room has blankets and pillows for your use. Also, while our water is potable and safe (it’s UV filtered and we test it) if you prefer bottled water, there will be a bottle dispenser you can use. There will be some in the bottle, but please replace what you use. Please also bring your own paper towel and laundry detergent. You will likely find some at the cottage but it’s not there for you to use up. Some single ply (septic-safe) toilet paper will be provided, and if you run out, please only purchase this kind. Why can’t I bring the dog? We use our own cottage frequently and someone in our family has severe allergies to pet (cat and dog) dander. So please, no pets - inside or outside the cottage. Thank you for understanding. Can I have guests? We get that you might want to entertain guests! The maximum nighttime occupancy is 10 people. This is due to not only sleeping space, but also the septic system. The septic is not meant to accommodate huge groups, so having your friends from across the lake over for a few hours is fine, but please no large extended gatherings (i.e. family reunions) or overnight stays. Please remember to respect our neighbours by not being too noisy and please observe the 11pm noise restriction. What should we do with our garbage? First of all, please never, ever, leave your garbage/recycling/food waste outside the cottage. This will attract and encourage bears. And bears are scary. Please bring all your garbage and recycling with you when you leave. The dump is a 5 minute drive, head back up Deer Bay Reach Rd, go a little west on the 36 until you reach Dump Road. It’s $1-2 per bag depending on the size of bag. Using the fire pit There will be some wood at the cottage, but if you’re planning to have a lot of fires, it’s a good idea to pick up some firewood to bring with you. Please don’t chop down or snap any limbs off our trees to make your campfire. Please make sure the fire is fully out before you go to bed, douse it with water to be extra sure. Can I set off fireworks? Nope. Please respect our neighbours.
