Unfortunately no pets are allowed and smoking is only allowed outside up in the driveway area. There is also no fireworks of any kind allowed on the property, however in the summer there are public fireworks in the area. No weddings, family reunions, VISITORS or other gatherings exceeding the maximum number of 10 people on site. WELCOME TO THE LEGENDARY NORTH POND LAKE FAMOUS FOR THE NORTH POND HERMIT. North Pond Lake is one of the 7 lakes in the Belgrade Lake Chain. It's the farthest north of the Belgrade Lakes Chain which lends itself to being very private and peaceful. 4th of July weekend there were only 2 other boats and 1 other Jet Ski on the lake the entire weekend. This is a lake, not a cove or stream. A favorite town and lake for boating (yes THIS Lake allows gas boats and Jet Ski’s) and ice fishing, swimming, jet skiing, tubing, etc. The natural beauty of this lake is incredible all 4 seasons. Ice Fishing, Ice Skating, Snow Mobile, cross country skiing, Summer Lake Activities, GREAT FISHING, Spectacle Fall Foliage, Spring Bloom. This FOUR SEASON 1700 square foot Lake house / “camp " with 100 Feet of Private direct waterfront is not your grandparent’s hunter’s camp. It has heat! A 50K renovation was just completed in 2016. GOOD BYE 1970's DECOR. The renovation included two complete new full bathrooms, laundry utility closet with new full size washer, dryer, iron and ironing board, 3 private bedrooms with closets, all new floors, entire cottage newly painted and updated electrical and plumbing and a lot of new windows. Safe updated stairs for children and people with walking difficulties. The Master bedroom has a queen size bed and a Foam cot is available for that room upon request. The second and third bedrooms each have a set of twin bunk beds, one full size bed and dressers. Additionally, the new windows are larger in case of emergency and all fire and carbon monoxide detectors are up to code and inter-connected for safety for your friends and love ones. There are also First Aid Kits and Fire Extinguishers on site. All bedrooms have full ceilings, not slanted where you hit your head. There is a full kitchen with a gas stove, dishwasher, over the range microwave, coffee pot, all pots, pans, dishes, linens and paper products, etc.. and a Breakfast Bar that seats 4 in case you want to entertain while on vacation. The kitchen / family room also has sky lights and ceiling fans not that you will ever need them in this part of Maine. The cottage also has a dining area that seats 6-8, large living room and a separate family room so your kids can also have some space if the adults are socializing in the living room. The lower level of the home is open concept so all can enjoy the lake views from any room they are in. All rooms except the kitchen and bathrooms have lake views, of course the front rooms have direct lake views. The living room is large with larger windows all around to get a 180 degree lake view. The lake is not a walk down a long hill or lawn, but RIGHT outside your front doors in both the living room and dining room. It's so relaxing to sit in one of the chairs in the front of the living room and open up the large sliding window and enjoy your morning coffee while overlooking the lake. Enjoy listening to the loons and seeing the fish jump and the family of ducks visiting early in the morning, not to mention all the different types of birds around the cottage including loons, osprey, great blue herons, and bald eagles. At night it's even better sitting there with wine. The Outside Fire Pit (perfect for S'mores and those Banana / Chocolate treats while telling Ghost Stories after dark) is right outside the living room window if some folks don't want to sit around the fire, yet be part of the group while probably inside watching Net Flex on one of the Flat Screen Smart TV's. Everyone says the master bedroom was like living in a tree house as the master bedroom also has windows all around the room for a 180 lake view, yet you are on the second floor to enjoy the trees also and to look out over the lake to see your friends and family swimming or fishing. The lake bottom is not rocky or mucky but sandy and has easy access for small children or people with walking difficulties. The water deep is very shallow the first 200 feet so a small child would have to walk out a bit before they were over their heads and an adult will have to walk or float out to dive in over their heads. Propane grill, patio tables and chairs all provided. There is a town public boat ramp .5 of a mile down the road if you want to bring your larger boat and or Jet Ski’s for the lake. You can use your own canoe or kayak right off the property. Due to insurance reasons, no watercraft are provided except tons of blow up floats, however you easily rent boats for the lake and keep it at your dock. There is a good size grassy lawn for outdoor eating, playing, sleeping in your lounge chair or for playing horse shoes or any other lawn games you can think of. The yard is perfect for a group BBQ as the tables can be put together so all can eat outside together by the lake. The best thing about this lake house is that it is private yet not out in the sticks and the sun sets are the most colorful and greatest in the area. Even thunder and lightning storms are quite the show on this lake. The flash lightening behind the "mountain" across the lake looks like a Disney Laser Show. You also get great cell phone reception and high speed Wi Fi internet and there is a desk available for your lap top so if you have to still be connected with your job, you can easily work "from home". The cottage is on a town road so it's well maintained year round and plowed, yet on a quiet side road. The neighbor to the left of the house is 97 years old and there is no one on the other side of "your" house so you don't need to worry about noise or nosy neighbors. The house and lake sets down a small hill so the hill gives you privacy while out relaxing by the lake. You rarely have anyone around you so you don't need to worry about kids being too loud and you have your own lake front so there is no sharing of the property like other vacation homes. You are in a quiet, private spot (so if you don't like having people watching you while you play in the lake, you are good), yet a 5 minute drive to the local pizza and ice cream local hang out if you don't want to cook. Be sure to stop by the Old Fashion Roller Rink on your way to pick up your pizza. It's been in town for years! This cottage is perfect for a couple of families, couples without any kids or a family with children. So grab your coffee, beer, wine, tooth brush and fishing pole and come see why the North Pond Lake Hermit stayed around for so long. Long Term Renters Welcome.
