The SpaceCome enjoy the mountains and relax in our cozy, beautiful cabin! This 950 square foot gem is compact but has everything you will need for a comfortable stay. You will appreciate the beautiful stonemasonry around the water feature outside and the craftsman woodwork inside. The south facing living room has two large French doors providing a scenic view of the river (toddler alert 2), with a fireplace that you can cozy up next to after a hard day’s skiing or hiking. We purposely do not have a TV but we provide a large monitor in the living room on which you can watch movies. An eclectic selection of books is also available for you to read. The downstairs bathroom is the most beautiful room in the house with its stained glass windows. Turn on the lights at nighttime and admire it from the outside. And when you come back inside try out the Jacuzzi jet bath. Two medium sized bedrooms are located upstairs, one with a Cal King bed, the other with a queen size bed and a loft that can sleep one extra person. Comforters, linings, pillows and extra blankets are provided to assure a good night sleep at the end of your memorable day. Our home's kitchen is equipped with all modern conveniences except a dishwasher. The house has hi-speed Internet access and the cell phone reception is quite good. The living room’s wood stove heats the house nicely but can be complemented with the wall propane heater and/or two space heaters. And of course, there is the beautiful river right outside the back deck and plenty of summer and winter outdoor activities at your disposal. The northwest shore of Lake Tahoe is about a 30 minutes drive away. Within ten miles you can find three ski resorts including Royal Gorge, one of the county’s largest cross-country resorts. Trailheads starting at Royal Gorge lead to a number of beautiful alpine lakes that you can hike to in summer. Guest AccessThe entire home will be available to you as well as the back and side deck and the rest of the property. We have riparian rights so you can take a stroll along the river. Inside the home you will find a well-stocked kitchen with condiments, spices, tea and coffee that you can use. Soap and shampoo are also provided. Interaction with GuestsWe hope to have the opportunity to meet and greet all of our guest in person. If schedules don't permit, we may arrange a greeting by our home's caretaker or we will leave instructions for access using the lockbox. We will also be available via phone throughout your visit. The NeighborhoodWe are located off the I-80 in Soda Springs/Kingvale. The property lies in the Pla-Vada Woodlands housing community. This assures plowed roads and driveways and easy access throughout winter despite the large amounts of snow we get in this area (one of the countries heaviest snow fall areas). Our two immediate neighbors don’t live here full time so you may be spending your time here in solitude. In general, the neighborhood is very quiet. In summer you can find many hiking trails close by with plenty of alpine lakes to visit and swim in if you feel up to brave the cold mountain waters. Closer to home, just 50 yards upstream from our cabin, you can take a dip in the local swimming hole and sunbath on the rock faces. There is a larger swimming hole downstream at the other end of the community. Both are seldom visited so you may be able to enjoy them alone. If snow is your thing, booking in the winter is well worth it. Sugarbowl ski-resort (8mi) as well as Royal Gorge x-country resort (5mi) are one exit east of us and if you keep on going east another exit, you can night ski at Borreal (6.5mi). Or, if you are like us and prefer solitude, you can ski right out of our cabin. You may borrow the x-country ski (1 pair) and/or snowshoes (2 pair). There are also two snow boogie boards for your sliding pleasures. In addition to downhill skiing, Sugarbowl may offers tubing but there are also some small-scale sledding opportunities in the housing development itself. Getting AroundThere is no bus service in the area so you need to arrive by car. Depending on the weather, you may need a 4WD but the I-80 is open all year around and mostly restriction free. The closest gas is on the other side of the freeway off the Kingvale exit. There is a cute convenience store run by Tony at the Sugarbowl exit about 5miles east of here. About 8 miles to the West, you can find Rainbow Lodge (open over the winter season) if you fancy a drink or affordably priced restaurant food. The next closet civilizations are Truckee at 25 miles East, Reno at 60 miles East or Auburn at 53 miles West. Other Things to NoteWinter use: If you come in winter, you will need to learn how to use the fireplace and carry wood from the storage to the living room. Speaking about mountain living in winter: We have no garage or carport (yet). Our driveway and the community roads are plowed by the association but you may have to shovel some snow in the event of a winter storm.

The SpaceThis house is a real charmer. It's hard to leave at the end of a weekend. With the forest out the back door and a warm and inviting interior, it offers the best of both worlds. The inside is decorated with a modern but comfortable feel. This house is my home, not just a rental. The cabin is warm and inviting, with a cozy living area, a huge dining table, and a fully stocked kitchen. There is one queen bed (upstairs loft), one double bed (downstairs bedroom), and two twin beds (upstairs loft). All linens (sheets and towels) are provided. Guest AccessThe house features a full, well-stocked kitchen with plenty of utensils, dishware, and spices for nearly any culinary adventure. There are two full bathrooms complete with towels, soap, and shampoo and conditioner. There is a blow dryer under the sink in the downstairs bath. The washer and dryer has soap too--it's under the sink in the downstairs bath. ***There is a tv so you can watch movies (some of which are provided), but there is no television service and no Wi-Fi. You may be able to create a Wi-Fi hot spot with your phone. ***Well-behaved pets are okay with prior approval. There is an extra fee of $15 per pet per night. Interaction with GuestsAll my interaction is by text, phone, or email, but that does not mean I am not here to help. There is a lock box for the key to the front door. I will provide information about all the house's amenities and its operation by separate message after reservation confirmation. At certain times of the year, guests will need to turn on the water, hot water heater, and thermostat on arrival. It's very, very simple. I am always available by phone in case questions arise. The NeighborhoodThis charming cabin is right off the highway in a settlement of modest homes. There are hiking trails right out the back door, and some well-known hiking trails just five minutes down the road in two directions. Three ski resorts are within ten minutes' drive, including the skiers' paradise, Sugar Bowl. There is a small general store five minutes away, and full grocery shopping in Truckee, which is only 15 minutes away. Truckee also boasts some amazing restaurants, both for fine dining and more casual fare. Historic Downtown Truckee is also full of great shops featuring local artisans, fun fashions, and great decorating items. The house shares a driveway with the house next door, so guests must be courteous and careful to park in the designated area. In the summer, guests must park behind the house where they will not block the neighbor's access. In the winter, there is parking for only one car up the driveway. Other cars will have to park down the street. You may never block the driveway any time of year. Getting AroundYou must have a car (or bike, if you're ambitious). There is no public transportation. Other Things to Note***There is no Wi-Fi.*** This is a conscious decision, as most people are in the area for recreation, not work. ***During the winter, only guests with all-wheel drive cars or 4WD cars will be able to navigate the driveway. It is very steep, so cars without AWD or 4WD may need chains. Parking is up the driveway or down the street. If you cannot make it all the way up the driveway, you have to park down the street. ***Please bring your own firewood for the fireplace.

Paddle boarding in the surrounding lakes - Serene Lakes and Donner Lake. A restaurant and sports bar down the street called The Summit Restaurant & Bar. Worlds largest cross-country trail just a block away from the cabin. Other Things to NoteThere is a fireplace in the living room, which operates on wood pellets. I unfortunately will not be providing the wood pellets unless there's some left over from previous renters. However, a 40 pound bag is about $4-$6 that will last you 3-4 days. So it's pretty reasonable and can easily be purchased at the local general store or at Ace Hardware in Truckee.
