The SpaceThis property is unique as it is country located but close to conveniences and on route to North and South NSW. Also 40 mins to beautiful beaches.1 hour to Sydney and 1 hour to Newcastle. Also has horse paddocks which could also be used if you want a getaway with your horse to use the nearby trials on the mountain. There is an extra charge to use the paddocks and stable. But you don't need to bring a horse to enjoy it! The shower is hot and there is also a bath tub for some extra relaxing. I do supply linen and towels. The bed is a king size with a king sized new mattress not two singles as previously used. I've included a picture of a tent with the photos as it is a perfect space for the kids to set up their own tent and feel like a camping adventure! Also available is local and homemade produce available to purchase on requests ie: organic avocados, free range eggs and jams. All from local farms or made by me but do need some notice to get it together. There is a local qualified masseur who can be booked but I do also need advance notice to ensure she can keep the appointment. She is most brilliant to soothe your aches. I'm quite happy for your dog to accompany you yet let me know what breed it is to ensure there won't be any problems etc. All I ask is to not allow them on the bed to sleep so best bring their own bedding. There are some roaming chickens (next doors') so best keep a check on your dog where possible. The outside fire is the best thing to light in the evening- there is enough wood on the property currently to keep you supplied. Start it late afternoon to really enjoy the heat! Of course during summer this isn't available. In summer there is an air conditioner which sometimes is needed late afternoon to cool things down and can be replaced by the fan during the night. There are mozzies of course so bring repellant if required yet I do have an insect outdoor spray at hand. Behind the cabin is a dam so frogs are audible at night but so far no one has complained of their serenades. I've had a couple of occasions where it hasn't been possible for my guests to get food or get a meal or have the ingredients to cook themselves something so I'm happy to supply this for an extra charge. I've even had guests join us for dinner when they are travelling by themselves etc. We loved the interaction and the meeting of new dinner guests! If you have a small child please recognise the cabin isn't child friendly but with vigilant supervision it still is possible for all to be safe and enjoy your stay. I've recently added an outside shower- to cool down in the summer and also to experience the elements and enjoy the breeze and space with hot and cold water at hand! To golf clubs The Springs and Mangrove memorial club golf course and tourist parks Calga walkabout Park and the Reptile Park. Cafe, restaurants, convenience store, chemist, vet, Drs and petrol station nearby. Somersby Falls and Great North Walk are 10minutes away. Also El Cadore indoor horse arena - 10 mins away. Calga Walkabout park - 10mins Reptile Park 10 mins away. There is a fabulous chocolate and cheese venue at nearby Wyong's old Dairy Factory near Westfield Tuggerah - all about 15mins away. Spencer and through to Wisemans Ferry is a romantic drive and this route can be taken as a easy half day trip. Wollombi then up to the Hunter Valley passing many quaint and historical locations makes another adventure. I try to greet my guests at all times to make sure everything will be alright and to give an overview of the space and to check out what services they may need (so the info or things can be provided like milk/ eggs etc.) I do feed the horse twice a day so usually you may see one of us checking his water and giving him his feed. I love the convenient location and the picturesque setting and I'm sure you will also and Weekends are peaceful and quiet. There is a family of goats next door which are also interesting to view. Decorated with a country feel but boutique in unique fittings and have included a small display of collected antiques for interest or purchase. All the interior has been sourced at vintage and second hand stores and also at arty interior shops. I've made the curtains and painted the walls and even put my tiling skills to the test! I've used local tradesmen to complete my theme of country with a bit of glam. . As an Interior decorator I re-use and repurpose all I can and this cabin (once my daughters residence through uni) is a story of the surroundings. The studio is basic with most things you need. There isn't a microwave simply as there is little room but a great gas stove and oven. If you need more pots and pans than are already there I'm happy to supply on request- also any extra ingredients you may need. Per most of my feedback my guests experience a quiet and personal space that is unique and peaceful. Sometimes the neighbours get busy farming next door so a little of fencing, burning off small piles of wood occurs- just usual maintenance on some weekends! The buses aren't regular so will need your own transport It is 10 minutes off the F3 at the Peats Ridge Exit or Somersby Exist. Shops are walking distance for immediate supplies and I can supply a bicycle if needed. It is the Australian bush so people should be aware there are things about the landscape. But don't let the Australian bush put you off! We keep the property cleared and these things aren't anything to be afraid of- It comes with extraordinary beauty. There is a campfire setup which is only to be used when there isn't a fire ban. There is only tank water so while this is lovely to experience it can be a little precious because of limited rainfall so just ask to be mindful and take short showers. Hot water is gas supplied which I try to keep abreast of but it's easy to replace if it runs out- just call or contact me. We have a friendly horse which loves pats and attention so he is a nice bonus to your stay. (He loves carrots so you might like to bring some extras!) The SpaceThis is an off-the-grid retreat in native forest in the Watagan Mountains on the Central Coast. The property has over 20km of purpose built trails available for use for bushwalking, mountain-biking, birdwatching, etc. For trails see trailshare re-zycle website. Accommodation consists of three compact sleeping cabins in a cluster under a large roof, with a separate kitchen cabin - sleeping 5 in total. While you can eat in the kitchen, the property is really intended for outdoor living and eating whilst sleeping in cosy enclosed spaces - a bit like camping without the tents. The default price is for all three cabins at once. If you would like to hire only one cabin please contact the host directly. Facilities are solar powered and use self-sourced rainwater, wood fires for warmth and gas for cooking and hot water heating. We provide clean linen for beds but please bring your own towels. Guest AccessThe whole property is available for your use. You will however have to sign a waiver absolving us from responsibility if you injure yourself or get lost while in the bush. We also provide high quality mountain bikes for hire if you would like. We can also provide guided mountain bike or walking tours if you book in advance. Interaction with GuestsWe are present on the property intermittently - but you will need to be self sufficient in terms of food and transport. We provide maps of the property and surrounding forest, including the trails you can use, but we recommend you also use a GPS to make sure you can get back home again. GPS routes can be downloaded from (URL HIDDEN) The NeighborhoodIt will take you 50-60 minutes to get to the property from Northern Sydney (Wahroonga) and about 1.5 hours from the city. The Watagan Mountains are a sparsely populated bush area interspersed with sections of state forest (Olney State Forest) on the Central Coast hinterland. The altitude ranges from 350 to 100m above sea level on our property so there is a wide variety of vegetation - all of it pretty dense. Climate is the same as Sydney. Getting AroundWe will provide detailed instructions of how to get there once you have made a booking. A 4WD is not necessary; normal cars will manage fine as long as you drive slowly, but you will struggle on the rough dirt roads if you drive a low slung sports car. Roads are all usable regardless of weather conditions. Unfortunately there is no public transport within 20km of the location. For walkers and cyclists pdf maps and GPX/KML digital trail routes are available from (URL HIDDEN) Other Things to NoteThis is a great destination for the adventurous - however because much of the land is very steep and rocky, we don't recommend it for people with mobility difficulties or children under 5. All facilities are used at the risk of the visiting guest - please be cautious before traversing bridges, log-walks, steep rocky descents, etc.

Prior to this the hills and valleys had been logged by timber cutters driving oxen teams from around Wollombi and Maitland. The Stinson family settled in Stinson’s Lane, the Waters family in what is now Yarramalong Village. Other early settlers included William Beaven of Brush Creek, who was the first person to be buried in St. Barnabas graveyard. Others who came to live in the valley include the Hill, Boyd, Palmer and Fernance families, many of whose relatives are to be found in the local area. As the numbers living in the valley increased, the need for a church building became apparent. Earlier, services had been held in the homes of the settlers. So originated St .Barnabas Church. - The early pioneer Australians, (mid 1800’s) from which many of the residents originate. - The Cedar Heritage (The red cedar trees were logged from this Valley in the last century, and the sawmill still exists) also still existing surrounded by beautiful flora and Red Cedar trees. - Indigenous/nature history with abundant wildlife (Platypus – Wallabies/Wallaroos and wombats etc). - Historic Wyong River which winds itself throughout the valley. - Horse Heritage – Horse Studs/ Riding schools etc. - Alpaca Farm. - Manor House – lunch, afternoon tea / dinner plus entertainment. - 150 Year Old St. Barnabas Church (restored) with original Cemetery. - One of the oldest Cemetery’s in NSW. - Local Public School established 1870. - School of Arts, built in 1904. - Popular destination for artists', cyclists & Sunday drivers. - Local arts & Crafts. When returning to Sydney, also try the Tourist drive from Bumble Hill . Follow the Road through to the T section on George Downs Drive, turn left and follow the sign to Sydney (a shorter trip). This will bring you back to the F3 at Calga (after Peats Ridge.) A poem by a guest from 2010. Teapots and canisters, lavender and lace, Hydrangeas in vases, bound books in case Verandahs of cedar and chairs made of cane; You will find "Charlies Cottage" down Ravenswood Road The kitchens so rustic with its old fuel stove; There's so much to see, the eyes do rove Round the shelves-to see an era gone by What memories,or secrets, here do lie? Peaceful, quiet, calm and serene Are before me in the lovely scene; A long chair with pillows invites me to lie And happily watch the world go by - poem by Marg Ress (Byron Bay - Jan 2010), a guest. *It is a requirement of your booking condition that you leave the cottage in a reasonable and clean condition and all rubbish removed to the larger bins provided on the front verge.
