The SpaceThis room is built out of very thin wood and has a plastic accordion door. We made it in response to seeing people renting out their couch for the same price but we thought having privacy would be better. The room is small but has room for hanging and storing clothes, a small desk for your laptop, a single bed, a chair, windows and several lighting options. There is a living room for you to hang out in. Also a completely functional kitchen for your use with a round table and chairs. There is a porch for people to hang out on and space for you to store your bikes. The apartament is in the same house as the other apartament where we sleep and it is our plan to use both. We are readily available to guests and you are welcome to come visit us in our apartment in the same house. We have lived in the Boston area a long time and can help you (if you need) get around and find fun things for you to do and see. Please read our reviews and rest assured that it is our aim to be hospitable, very clean and to provide you with an exellent value and the very best airbnb experience possible. The NeighborhoodSpring Hill is a residential neighborhood with houses from the (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)s. Our neighbors are families, retirees, students and artists. The SpaceWe've just revamped the whole space (thanks to my mom and aunts!) and WiFi is working fine. Also, there's FREE PARKING IN THE DRIVEWAY! *** THIS IS SELF-HOSTED RENTAL, which means you'll have to let yourself in and make sure you leave a clean space before departing. ***** Hello fellow AirBnBers, Welcome to Prospect Hill, the first spot a US flag was raised and now commemorated in a monument just up the street. That spot also marks one of my favorite panoramic views of Boston. Walk around the neighborhood and admire some spectacular period mansions, explore Union Square, Inman Square, Porter Square, Davis Square! Don't forget Broadway either-it's an up-and-coming neighborhood with lots of good eateries and a HUGE ceramics studio (Mudflats) where you can drop in for a class. Somerville (and surrounding Cambridge) offer a funky vibe, interesting events, proximity to MIT, Harvard, and Tufts, and EXCELLENT food, especially for the globally-minded. Delicious Thai, Peruvian, Ethiopian, Spanish, Indian (north and south!)...the list goes on. And of course, the neighborhood landmark brunch spot, The Highland Kitchen, is a short walk away. No, you don't understand, their dirty bird and shrimp n grits are to die for (I don't even like grits!)...and wow, pair that with their sangria or anything else from the bar? Heaven! Not that I'm a food motivated person of anything...=) More about the neighborhood: Did you know Somerville has the most artists per sq mile anywhere in the US outside New York? You should check them out in action at Brickbottom! I could go on about how amazing Somerville is and how accessible Boston and Cambridge are from the house (5 bus lines either diagonally across the door or within a 5 min walk; quick access to the Orange, Green, and Red line trains) but perhaps you're more interested in the place: Although two units now, this house was once a grand Victorian mansion built in 1865. You can still marvel at the handmade woodwork around the two fireplaces (closed up for a while) or the pocket doors separating the living and dining rooms. Before me, the house was owned by the same family since 1940. There's a lot of love, stories, and good energy here. =) Accommodations: This is a 2 bedroom set up (queen size bed in each bedroom) with a sofa bed in the living room and a very comfy couch that can sleep even a 6' person quite comfortably. There's a formal living room and separate dining room, a bar and study (that I still need to set up properly), a large eat-in-kitchen that overlooks the deck. There's a brand new bathroom with marble, a separate shower, and clawfoot tub. In the back, there's a two-level loft with a bedroom upstairs and a couch and table downstairs. There's a projector and speakers you can use to watch movies, etc. Please note there's no TV or landline phone in the house. There is a good sized deck off the kitchen and a backyard/brick patio you can take chairs out to for enjoying the weather. Coin-operated laundry in the basement, should you need it. There is also off-street parking in the driveway but let me know if you need to use it beforehand. A few things to be mindful of: - This is my home that I'm opening to you while away. Please be clean, respectful, and pick-up after yourself. - There are tenants upstairs so please respect their privacy and space. Do introduce yourself if you bump into them while getting in and out of the unit but they expect to be independent. - There is no smoking permitted ANYWHERE on the property. When you respond, please include details about yourself, including: - Why are you visiting Boston? What are you looking to accomplish during your stay? - What do you do to pay the bills? - What do you do for fun? Looking forward to having you enjoy this spot! =) Guest AccessYou'll need to use a lockbox to get into the house at your convenience and can use everything in the kitchen+fridge+cabinets. Interaction with GuestsI am out of town but always reachable via email. Diego is the local contact who can help out if there are any issues and my mom is helping me co-host and can also be reached by email. This is a spot for independent travelers who feel comfortable making a temporary home and exploring without supervision. Of course, there are plenty of tips I'll give you via the listing and via email, if requested. The SpaceBright, sunny, modern, and cozy. This space is crafted to welcome and decompress. This guest room features a spacious queen size murphy bed (a bed that folds into the wall) with memory foam mattress, clean sheets, and comforter. You may store the murphy bed during the day and use the freed up space for yoga, meditation, lounging, reading, or put up the hammock and gaze out the window. There's space in the closet to hang clothes, and extra towels if you need them. Guest AccessA comfortable living room to share with lounge-friendly couch and hammock. You will likely have most of the apartment to yourself during the weekdays as your hostess has a fairly busy schedule and comes home very late. The weekends may often be very busy as well. Interaction with GuestsI'm around in varied quantities. I'm juggling software engineering, music production, and event planning projects (as a DJ and promoter), so there are frequently times when you might not see me and you'll have the place to yourself. I'll cook at home on the weekends, but during the week I'm mostly running around. If you do catch me, I'm happy to chat about Boston / Cambridge (lived here since 2006) or tech/music related things. If you are interested in the music scenes in Berlin or Detroit or audio-visual art/electronics projects we will probably have a lot to talk about. :-) The NeighborhoodYou'll be located within walking distance to Central Square (12 min), Inman Square (5 min), Union Square (10 min), and Kendall Square (15 min). There's so much to do in this part of town, from dining, breweries, chocolate tours, universities, and dancing. It's a lot of fun here! Getting AroundTransportation: - 12 minute walk to Central Sq. I can give you a list... Parking: - There is street parking. You are welcome to use my guest pass valid for 3 consecutive days. Street parking is also free on Sundays and holidays. Fitness: - Like running? I know a few good routes nearby, anywhere from 3 miles to 26.2. - Like biking? I can also advise on some routes, but you may want to bring / rent a road bike... - Like climbing? Brooklyn Boulders is 1 mile away. You can Hubway most of the way there. The NeighborhoodThe apartment is located in Somerville, very close to the Cambridge city line, with easy access to an excellent selection of restaurants, bars, live music, theaters, and stores in Harvard Square, Porter Square, and Davis Square. The area is known for its own characters and a rich, diverse culture. Harvard University is also within walking distance. Getting AroundIt takes about 8-10 minutes to walk to Porter Square T (metro) station, where you can take the red line or the commuter rail). Downtown Boston is only 4-6 direct stops away. There is also a Hubway (bike rental) station one small block away from the apartment, you can use the self service to check out bikes from there, and get around town by bike if you like to. There are 140 Hubway stations and 1000+ bikes all over the area, you can easily return/check out the bikes at any other station. We also let guests use our personal bikes when they are available. Other Things to NoteWe have two neutered cats (Youde and Renato) who enjoy bird watching, napping, and human company. If you are staying with us during the week, we should note that we get up at around 7:45am and we usually have breakfast in the kitchen, therefore there might be some light noises of us walking on the hardwood floor and preparing food. The SpaceA nice room in a quiet neighborhood, great access to Harvard, Longwood Medical area, 20-30 minutes to downtown Boston, and more! For more than 2 guests, there is a Japanese sleeping mat on the floor of the living room they can use. While it is cozy for more than a couple of people, I offer it as a good budget alternative for people who generally plan to be out and about most of the day. Guest AccessGuests are free to use the kitchen, as well as relax and lounge in the living room. There is space available in the fridge, freezer, and pantry to store food (though I cook a lot it is good to give me a heads up if you're planning on cooking too). I do sometimes give private Yoga Therapy and Thai Massage sessions in the living room, usually during 10 am to 7 pm. Usually guests are out and about during this time. I do my best to work this around the schedule of any guest currently staying, and it hasn't been a problem so far in a year of AirBnBing. Guests staying 3 days or more may do a load of laundry. Interaction with GuestsPlenty if I'm around! I'm always happy to share food and stories, tell you my fave places to go, etc. On occasion friends are over and guests are generally welcome to join in if we're cooking, gaming, etc. The NeighborhoodThe restaurant Sarma opened relatively recently and is a quick five to ten minute walk away. They have a lovely tapas (small plate) menu with Mediterranean and Middle Eastern influenced flavors. There are also some corner markets where you can get basic groceries (And fresh dates!). There is a strong international presence here in East Somerville, with good dining options from Ethiopian to Central American. Getting AroundThere are several convenient bus lines that are within easy walking distance. It is a quick 1-2 minute walk to catch the 80, which can bring you to Lechmere and the Green line or take you towards Arlington center and along the way it passes Tufts and Davis Square (~10 minute walk down College Ave.) The 88 is a 5-10 minute walk away and can bring you straight to Clarendon Hill, stopping in Davis Square, or to Lechmere and the Green line. The closest stop for the 89 is a 5-10 minute walk away which brings you to Sullivan Station and the Orange line, or going the other way it can take you to either Davis (directly or get off at Powder House Circle and walk ~10 minutes down College Ave) or Clarendon Hill. If the weather is nice and you feel like walking it is a 20-30 minute walk to Sullivan Station and the orange line. Walking to Union Square is also quite easy as it's approximately .7 miles away and should take roughly 12-20 minutes. It is a 15 minute walk to catch a bus that goes directly to Harvard Medical School, Children's Hospital Boston, BIDMC / Beth Israel, and Longwood Medical Area. Other Things to NoteA very small, quiet, well-behaved, and friendly pomeranian stays in the apartment with me occasionally.

We live in a large home, and want to open the spare bedrooms out to our guests. This 'room' in question is actually a basement level 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom unit, with its own entrance. It has its own entrance, if you want to move in and out. We have a hot plate available for long-term guests that you can use if you use it responsibly and follow all safety precautions while using it. It has a large unit that contains a living room with comfortable seating area, and kitchen/dining area, a bedroom that can loll accommodates a queen bed. And a full bathroom leading off the living room. It is like a studio apartment with the privacy you need. There is an AC in the bedroom. Windows bring in light in both the room, and the living area, it is a nice place to crash in after a long day shopping and sight seeing. It has plenty of storage, and a closet to hang your clothes in. Bedroom - Real bed Living room - Sofa bed (comfortable ikea unit) Location - House is located in Somerville, which is a town just north of Boston, and to the East of Cambridge. Its about 10 min by car to Boston downtown (about 3-4 miles), so its great. Public transport options - There are 3 subway lines at varying distances to the house, depending on where you want to go. The Boston transit system is a well-connected one, and there's Red, Green and orange lines at close distance to our place. Interaction with GuestsIt depends on the guest. We like to give tips about the city, public transit and being effective in their sight seeing with maps, bus information etc. We're always available for guests if they have questions, we ask that guests be open and communicative with us before complaining to airbnb. We always make efforts to rectify the experience to a positive one before discussion about a refund or cancellation. We're clear about what we offer and hope the expectations are met. If you don't require interactions, then we don't keep bothering you. We live right upstairs but we won't get in your way -you've your own entrance to get in and out. The NeighborhoodIts proximity to boston downtown and proximity to public transport stations. Safe area with plenty of restaurants and grocery stores. Assembly square outlet mall just opened up within walking distance with stores like j p licks and Saks 5th Ave. And an imax theatre. Theres lots of fun stuff happening there. We've a large park just minutes from our home. Getting AroundPublic transport is convenient and we use it everyday to get around the city. We do recommend using the map we provide initially and especially for late nights, buses are not too frequent so taxis and other services are available to use. Lyft, uber, sidecar are popular car share apps that can be used late at night for the area once you use subway. I believe they run till 12 or 2 am. The orange line is a mile away, a nice 15-20 min walk. Red line is little further, if you want to get to harvard MIT and some other places, you take a 10 min bus ride to the Davis Square Station. But it's not too difficult to figure out and I'll provide you with great tips on how to get around It depends on your trip, if you want to get to Cambridge often, the n this is not the most ideal as you end up spending a lot of time on buses and waiting in subway. But for boston downtown it's great.
