The SpaceOur home is on historic Bradford Street. Surrounded by some very lovely old homes. You may be awakened on Sunday to the sound of Church Bells from Saint Patrick’s Church (just like in Europe) The room is perfect for a couple, with everything you’ll need for a long weekend or a stop over on your way to or from Yosemite (75 miles away which takes about 1.5 hours to travel to the valley floor) The street we live on may be busy on week day mornings, as the county employees head to work but things quiet down a lot on the weekends. Friday morning is garbage day so it is a bit more noisy then! Our location is ideal for walking to downtown. You will find many fine restaurants and (email hidden) theater. A grocery market is just a few minutes walk as well as several banks, galleries and museums. The fairgrounds are just a few blocks away. Everything is within a very short and comfortable walking distance. The local Art Night 'Second Saturday' is held on the second Saturday of each month, from 5-8pm, where you will find many shops and galleries open and hosting local artists and musicians. In the summer you can walk to Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings. I’ve made a book with all the restaurants and area attractions to help you find your way around our community but feel free to knock on our door and ask questions. You'll find a comfortable queen sized bed. A bistro table and chairs for game playing. A TV with Comcast cable and high speed internet. There is a coffee pot, fridge and microwave, iron, ironing board. We recently upgraded our bedding, new carpet, new shower curtain and some new towels. Starting a new year! Guest AccessThe bedroom is attached to our house but we would love for you to have all the privacy you would like so you have a private entrance and your own bathroom. We hooked up a nice cooling air conditioner and there is a fan. You will be very comfortable even if it is hot outside! Interaction with GuestsWe live in the house full time but still may or may not be home when you arrive. We will give you the information about the key coded lock box a few days before your arrival. This way you can arrive at your convenience. There will be a book of information in the room for you upon your arrival and some really fun books about the town of Sonora and surrounding areas. The NeighborhoodIn the beautiful Sierra Nevada Foothills, in the heart of California’s “Gold Country” lies Sonora , named after the miners from Sonora Mexico who settled the City in 1848. Known as the “Queen of the Southern Mines”, this pristine City still holds on to its historic charm with many of its existing buildings dating back to the 1800’s. In fact, a walk along most streets in the City allows one to reminisce with days gone by; a brick or stone building, a slate wall, an iron shutter or fence, or a historic home nestled in an old fashioned garden. Along with Historic buildings the City is home to three museums. These museums give visitors an insight into the way of life in California's mining towns. The California State Park's of Columbia and Railtown 1897, just a short drive from Sonora, are also a must see to get the full "Mother lode" experience. The Historic Downtown is also home to the Tuolumne County Arts Alliance and several art studios featuring the brilliant work of local artists. Being known as the regional center for arts and entertainment visitors can enjoy live theater (walk to Stage 3 or a short drive to two Sierra Rep theaters) and year-round events and festivals. A short drive away you will find the wonderful Black Oak Casino with free live music nightly. Every season brings a natural beauty to Sonora. Visitors can also partake in the numerous winter and summer outdoor activities located just outside the City and in the nearby Stanislaus National Forest. These include skiing, hiking, boating, swimming and horseback riding. Sonora is an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay Area or the Central Valley. State Highways 108 and 49 pass through the City, which, incidentally, is just seventy miles north of Yosemite National Park. It takes 1 hour to get to the park gate and then 30 minutes to drive through the park to the Valley Floor. You will see amazing views all along your drive. Getting AroundIt is easiest if you have a car to get to some of the area attractions but Tuolumne County Trollies (old time buses) run between the gold mine towns of Jamestown, Columbia and Sonora. In summer YARTS (Yosemite Area Regional Transit) runs from downtown to Yosemite daily. Taking the bus to the valley is an amazing way to go. Sit back and relax. When you get to the Valley there is plenty of public transportation to get around the Valley floor. Other Things to NoteThere is plenty of parking on the street but you must be able to walk up about 5 stairs to get up to the sidewalk in front of our home. The front has a stone path that is uneven so walk with caution. There is a motion light that will come on and light your way! We don't have a kitchen sink for you to wash dishes but there are two sets of everything and you may leave your dirty dishes outside the door on the provided bucket and we will wash them and leave them for you to replace. It's come to our attention that metro pcs phone service does not work here in Sonora. At&t, Sprint, Verizon all do. We are now permitted with the City of Sonora! Paying our Transient Tax. Our Permit#T15-0001.

YOUR STAY Since the home and yard are shared, we will inevitably cross paths. However, if you want time to yourselves, simply let me know. I enjoy meeting new people and engaging in friendly conversation. Ideal guests will have a nice balance of interaction. The NeighborhoodI love that my home is located in the back of the neighborhood where traffic is rare, and it's a super quiet and dark place to sleep. Behind the back yard is 60 acres of wild land. If you prefer an evening stroll or morning run, this is a great and safe neighborhood for it. Please check with me regarding wildlife activity first. The neighborhood is pristine and quiet, away from traffic and very little neighbor noise. There is only the occasional yard equipment running (lawn mower, blower, etc.), such as on Saturdays. Because of the drought, much of the yard is left natural, but I try to keep some of the yard watered. The more you help me conserve water, the more I can water my existing plants and trees. Getting AroundPublic transit information is available upon request. It is not ideal for getting around, though. It's best to drive. Parking is off-street in a private driveway. SFO and SAC are both about 2 1/2 hours drive time. Modesto (Amtrak, bus) is about 1 1/4 hours away. Yosemite is 90 minutes to the valley floor, and 60 minutes to the gate. YARTS bus can pick you up in downtown Sonora if you prefer not to drive. You will, however, need a car to get to and from the house. Tahoe is about 2 1/2 hrs drive without traffic. I wouldn't recommend it for a day trip, but if you're planning your travels you may want to visit beautiful Lake Tahoe. Many guests depart here to Las Vegas, Death Valley, San Francisco, or Tahoe. San Francisco Bay Area is 2 1/2 to 3 hours away depending on which part you're driving from or to. Other Things to NoteTHE HOUSE PETS Bailey is a 14 yr old Cairn Terrier. She's a sweet dog that doesn't yap. She loves to greet guests and will want to play fetch with her toy. She has a tendency to be your best friend while you're eating :) Sadie is the short-haired house cat that thinks the guest room is hers. Please keep your door closed so she doesn't hide under your bed and escape through the french doors. Hanalei is the quiet green-cheek conure (yes, she really is quiet). Please come prepared to pay a 10% transient occupancy tax, which is collected separately from your reservation. Unfortunately, this is a mandatory requirement of Tuolumne County. Thank you in advance for your understanding. Evie duck, and the back yard chickens reside on the back side of the property, but also are very quiet.

The SpaceWe have been airbnb hosts for three years and loving it! Please read ~ You would never know the bed is a futon because it has regular bed springs just like a mattress, and is topped with a feather mattress topper, making it super comfortable. This is a place for non-smokers, please. My home is on the back side of a sub-division with 40 acres of wilderness behind it. The outdoor living space is relaxing and magical. I love my home. It is functional, comfortable, quiet and peaceful. It's also slated for some improvements and upgrades. In the meantime, I've priced it comparably low for the area. You can rest assured your room and bathroom are clean and sanitized. I provide fresh linens and towels, with shampoo, conditioner, and soap. My intention is to create a comfortable home environment for your stay, with a positive and rewarding experience. Serene outdoor living Casual and comfortable Quiet neighborhood Secluded back yard Non-smoking environment INQUIRIES AND BOOKINGS * If this listing is unavailable for your preferred dates OR you want a private wing, please view our other listing at Vintage Manor/Sonora/Yosemite - https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2793641 * If you inquire during waking hours Pacific Time, I will respond timely. If I have questions for you, please respond timely so I may accept your reservation. * 3-day weekends and holidays are 2-night minimum stay. WOMEN, OR COUPLES Your host is Lisa. Occasionally, Ray will be here, or sometimes I'll stay over at our other home. . Perfect for women, or couples. Young children may or may not be suitable. Inquire to discuss. LOCAL AREA I've lived up here since 1978 and I can tell you where all the best restaurants, shopping, wine-tasting, and recreational areas are. You can play tourist or experience the local area naturally. Either way, I can guide you in the right direction. Guest AccessYOUR ROOM Your room has the vibe of a library/office. I use it as an office when there are no guests. I have a secondary office space set up so that when you're here, the room is exclusively yours. There is a large window that looks out over the front yard. In the Spring and early summer, you can watch the bluebirds fly in and out of their house, feeding their babies. It is very peaceful. The futon bed is incredibly comfortable and may as well be a normal bed. In the summer, you will enjoy a ceiling fan for quiet air distribution. When it's warm, there may be a window fan to help cool down the room quickly. When there is a heat wave, your room may have a window air conditioner. If at anytime, the temperature is not comfortable during the summer, please communicate with me so I can assist in rectifying the situation. THE KITCHEN If you would like to prepare meals you may use the kitchen. Please keep in mind it is my home and respect is requested. You'll have your own shelf in the refrigerator and a shelf in the pantry. You'll be able to utilize utensils, dishes, pots, pans, and spices, condiments, oils, etc. You'll have access to a dishwasher and garbage disposal for easy clean-up. You may choose to eat at the dining room table, outdoors under the grape arbor, or pack a picnic. YOUR BATHROOM Your bathroom is the guest bathroom a few steps down the hallway. If there are other guests staying in the Casual Cottage, you will be sharing a bathroom. I go above and beyond to make this an acceptable experience by placing a basket of private towels and cups in your room. I also keep cleaning supplies handy if in case you need it. I clean the bathroom once daily when multiple guests are staying. Whereas the bathroom is dated to retro 60's with formica counter and shower stall, it is clean and functional. Shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, and towels are available for you. Interaction with GuestsYOUR ARRIVAL I always prefer communication on your estimated time of arrival. I send your arrival instructions in the morning of your arrival date via Airbnb messaging. As a Realtor, I work out of my home, but my schedule varies. If I am not home, you will use a Supra keybox to access the keys. The keys remain in the keybox at all times. Instructions for this keybox can be found at (URL HIDDEN) There may be an occasional night where you will have the home to yourselves. Ideal guests will be respectful, honest, non-smokers, and okay without a host present, yet communicative. I am always available via airbnb messaging. We will discuss all of this ahead of time, and you will have all the instructions for the home. Parking is a private driveway. I wouldn't recommend it for a day trip, but others have been known to do it. If you're planning your travels you may want to visit beautiful Lake Tahoe. Many guests depart here to Las Vegas, Death Valley, San Francisco, or Tahoe. Please check with me about Highway pass closures during winter and spring. San Francisco Bay Area is 2 1/2 to 3 hours away depending on which part you're driving from or to. Other Things to NoteTHE HOUSE PETS Bailey is a 15 yr old Cairn Terrier. She's a sweet dog that doesn't yap. She loves to greet guests and will want to play fetch with her toy. She has a tendency to be your best friend while you're eating :) Sadie is the short-haired house cat that thinks the guest room is hers. PLEASE DO NOT LET HER OUTSIDE. See house guidelines. Please keep cat out of your room. I will do my best to keep her contained in my room. Hanalei is the quiet green-cheek conure (yes, she really is quiet). The back yard chicken resides on the back side of the property, but also is very quiet.

The SpaceThe Barbera is the centerpiece of our second floor. It features a King size bed with a brass headboard. The floral bedspread and pastel colors used throughout the room complement the oak furnishings which include a 6 foot high armoire. Sit in the comfortable chairs to see the view of the surrounding foothills. The Barbera has a private bath with tub and shower. Named after the grape Barbera, which is an ancient variety with its historical roots in Italy, it is the fifth most widely planted variety in California. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood sits on a hill a few streets East from the Downtown Washington Street. Across the street is a public historic cemetery that dates back to the early 1800's, with plenty of tree cover and beautiful tombstones for honorable war veterans. Traffic is fairly minimal so going on walks is always a pleasure. Getting AroundTuolumne Public Transit offers transportation on the main roads in Sonora. They also offer a bus service to the Dodge Ridge Ski Resort on the weekends. Golden State Cab is also a popular service in the area. Sorry, no Uber service here (yet). Most people in Sonora rely on their own cars for transportation. Our house has plenty of street parking space for guests. Other Things to NoteI have two dachshunds named Max and Rosie. They are friendly and may bark a little, but they never bite. For the most part, they stay outside during the day. You can feel free to let them in and play with them. PS Max loves belly rubs.
