Oh, the two of you are going to relax here, we are sure of that. Plus, you can buy your lobsters already cooked at Downeast Lobster Pound, at the end of your driveway, or plan ahead and order mussels, clams, seafood and more to cook at Island Sky for a picnic at the cottage! Such a wonderfully bright, cheery cottage, located just before the Trenton Bridge, 2 minutes from either the Trenton Marketplace (heading north) or to Mount Desert Island, 4 minutes to Mothers Kitchen, 5 minutes to the Town Hill Market and you can walk up to the end of Harbor Lane and pick up the Island Explorer Bus across the road at the Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce Building. So, bring your beach towels and books if you want to read at the cottage. Curl up in the cozy living areas in the evening, watch the sunrise from almost every window in the cottage. The open floor plan includes kitchen, dining, and living room on the first floor and open king bedroom upstairs. This house does not get internet but cell phones do work here. The bathroom with shower is off the kitchen area. Island Sky has a gas grill out on the deck. Easy steps right down to the ocean's edge. Morning beverages can be served in the sitting area. Guest AccessThe second floor loft is yours to use. If you have an exercise regimen you would like to maintain, the loft includes a full-length treadmill and hand weights. Interaction with GuestsWe will be on-site and available during your entire stay. The NeighborhoodOur town of Sullivan is located between the two main sections of Acadia National Park. All the attractions of Bar Harbor and the Mt. Desert Island section of the park are a 40-minute drive, while the Schoodic Peninsula portion is 20 minutes away. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Acadia, which will be celebrated with new trails on the Schoodic Point section and special events all season. In addition, our town is laced with hiking trail access - from the 87-mile Downeast Heritage Trail, to the Frenchman Bay Conservancy network two miles from our home. Up the shore from our house is a town landing for kayak access to Flanders Bay and exploring the wildlife of our protected coastline. One of our favorite introductions to this complicated coast is the lobster boat ferry from nearby Winter Harbor to Bar Harbor - a 45-minute mini-cruise by islands, views of Cadillac Mountain, and Frenchman Bay. A little more than two hours away is the Canadian/US border and Roosevelt Campobello International Park (Bring your passport!). Near the Park is one of our favorite Maine state parks at West Quody Head. The lighthouse there is the farthest eastern point in the US and the coastal trail is one of the most dramatic and beautiful in Maine. We can not accommodate pets, unfortunately, because we have two shy cats that definitely have pride of ownership in our house. You are welcome to bring your electronic devices and use the wifi available. Alas, no TV. But there is golf! Our local nine-hole course - called Blink Bonnie - is five minutes away in Sorrento and boasts a water view on every hole. Maine also attracts artists of every medium and Sullivan is no exception. Galleries and open studios present sculpture in our local granite, painting and crafts. Whatever brings you to our coast, we will honor your privacy while providing our knowledge of the area when asked. We hope you can join us! Other Things to NoteWe ask that you do not smoke in the house. The backyard patio is a quiet place to take in the Bay.
