The SpaceLocated about half a mile down a country road, this cabin has been in my family for 4 generations and is well loved. It's only open for 3 seasons, and is set up for family fun. All the beds are single, save one queen sized trundle bed in the bunk house. There is a well equipped kitchen which is stocked with staples like olive oil, napkins, basic spices, cleaning supplies, etc.,1.5 bath rooms with a tub and a shower, a good supply of games, lots of outdoor picnic table options, a dock for swimming, large raft for floating, a sand box and a toy kitchen for young kids. There are a variety of canoes and kayaks available. Camp, as we call the cabin, is set up to spend time on the water and with the ones you came with so there is no TV, no Cable, no internet, and no phone, though verizon and sprint users have good service. At&t has good reception but only 2G, so no data. I can't confirm other providers. Instead we offer the sound of loon calls on the lake, a picture window view of the lake from the living room, a fire place, a deck and benches and deck chairs for enjoying the water and the view, and games galore to keep you entertained. There is a radio which has CD and tape capacity if you still own such antiques. No one lives here full time so we have a "leave it as you found it policy". We ask that people do their own laundry, clean up the camp and re-fill the water coolers before you leave. There are no laundry facilites on site but there is a laundromat about 3 miles away. All garbage must be driven to the dump or taken home with you. There is a guide book available to let you know how things work and where to find the important stuff. The running water to the camp comes from the lake and is not drinkable. There are a few public taps which can be used for free or you can buy water from the local Hannafords supermarket about a mile up the road. Myself, or members of my family are on call if there are any problems. There is a one week minimum for the months of July and August. Getting AroundYou will probably need a car. There is no public transport that I know of. Other Things to NoteWe ask for a one week minimum for the months of July and August.

The SpaceTo see a short video slideshow of the house and property go to youtube and type in 20 Jaynes Lane. :) What makes 20 Jaynes Lane unique is its complete integration with nature. Designed specifically for this stunning location it was built from wood milled directly from the site and situated to take full advantage of the dramatic views while remaining low impact in its profile. So peaceful and inspirational for reflection and creativity. It's where I write my plays! There is something deeply human and naturally soulful about the space. It is a very finely built home and yet it has the warmth and connectedness to the envronment of a lodge. Secluded, yet centrally located with easy access by day trips to evrything Maine has to offer. Guest AccessGuests will have access to 300' of waterfront on beautiful, pristine Branch Mills Pond and several acres of forest contiguous to many more acres of undeveloped fields and forests. There are two kayaks and fishing poles for exploring the pond and taking advantage of its great fishing. The house has a large deck that guests can step directly out onto, enjoy the amazing view of the pond, and cook on the Vermont Castings Barbeque Grill. There is a great general store called Tobey's less than a mile away that is fully stocked to meet practically every need for guests, including live lobsters. It is open from 6 in the morning until 9 at night. A great resource that I use year round. Guests also have access to many other lakes and ponds in the Lakes Region of Central Maine. A 20-25 minute country drive brings one to Waterville and Augusta, two great places to shop, dine and hear live music and see movies. Belfast, an historic oceanfront town with a wonderful creative culture and amazing restaurants and Natural food co-op, is 35 minutes away. The roads surrounding the pond and leading North provide great routes for biking, walking and sight-seeing as they wind through the woods and fields. The many ridges provide amazing uninterrupted views that stretch as far as the western Maine mountains and New Hampshire border. Interaction with GuestsI interact as much or as little with guests as they want me too. Some guests just really want to get away from it all, including me, and ask very specific questions about their needs. I answer these questions immediately. Other guests really enjoy getting to know more about my house and me and I have had lovely dialogues and developed friendships with many of these guests. The truth is, I love sharing my house and am happy and honored to answer any and all questions that they may have. As a Theater person, I am also community minded and always eager to meet and converse with creative people and make new friends. I love the fact that many guests feel a sense of investment in their time at my house and share that with me. It is a very rewarding feeling. The NeighborhoodWhat I love about my neighborhood is that it's so peaceful and quiet, dominated by nature and wildlife, and yet there is a neighborhood and very friendly rural small town community surrounding my house. There is a very picturesque, antiquated downtown with a florist's shop and old Grange Hall, as well as a small post office. Tobey's General Store is a great place to chat with local people while picking up groceries. It's not hard to feel right at home very quickly. Getting AroundThere really isn't any handy public transportation as my house is set in a very rural location. It ias very easy to get to my house, however, with access to Rte 3 and other major roads, so it is a great place to use as a homebase for more extensive trips and sight-seeing, as well as a great place to just stay put. Other Things to NoteMy house has a really amazing kitchen and its open design makes it a great place to cook and entertain while still being part of the group. Most of my guests love using the kitchen and do a lot of cooking at the house. Food and cooking are two of my great loves and I designed my house to accommodate this passion. There is also a clawfoot bathtub in the loft bathroom that is a true pleasure and one of my own favorite indulgences. Lots and lots of books to read in the house, as well.

Spend your summer here at the Chalet Eau Clair and enjoy a vacation home rich with amenities, outdoor beauty, and wildlife. This three-bedroom, two and half bath home that comfortably sleeps 8, is nestled on a gradual sloping, nicely wooded back yard area that meets the sandy, shallow beach area. In the morning, enjoy your coffee on the spacious deck that overlooks high above the beautiful lake and listen to the song of the loon as you relax in bliss thinking about your day. At night sip a glass of wine and watch a campfire crackle as you plan your next day with family and friends. The name does truly fit this beautiful and modern chalet, house that is situated on Three-Cornered Pond in Augusta on the Buck & Doe Trail. Eau Clair indicates 'clear water' which so fittingly describes this body of water. Situated on about 5.1 miles of water, there is no deeded public access to the lake making it so very private with very low boat traffic. For the fishing enthusiast, Three-Cornered Pond thrives with small and large mouth bass and chain pickerel. Boat over to the island that is close by the home and enjoy the natural beauty of all this small lake offers. Nearby, the City of Augusta owns and operates the Bicentennial Nature Park. The park encompasses approximately 25 acres on the southeastern shore of Three-Cornered off of U.S. Route 3. The park includes a swimming area, a designated fishing area, hand carry boat launch, walking trails, picnic area, a canoeing area, bathrooms, gravel roadways and parking areas. Third year in service with great reviews and more improvements completed on this beautiful lake house. Basic Cable TV, internet, and Air Conditioning! Fantastic vacation home in a fantastic location! Major League Fishing area where the bass fishing and other varieties are just outstanding. Three Mile Pond provides excellent habitat for warm water game fishes. Anglers can probe the boulder strewn shoreline and several submerged rocky shoals for small and large mouth bass. Bass fishing here is good, with many fish growing to exceptional size. Pickerel and white perch are abundant and provide good action for both summer and winter anglers. Brown trout are present and add another dimension to Three Mile's diverse fisheries. Because the pond lacks adequate spawning and nursery areas for wild production, the trout fishery must be maintained through an annual stocking program. Spectacular views of the lake with a perfect mix of relaxing seclusion and fun activities make this a perfect spot for your next vacation. Relax with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine on the deck that wraps around most of the home while watching beautiful sunrises and sunsets overlooking the ever-changing lake. Loons, Great Herons, Eagles, and other abundant wildlife are a common sight to see in this area. Inside the lake house are a master bedroom, loft bedroom and a pull out sleeper in the living room. Equipped with a newer cook stove/range, microwave and washer/dryer. Beautiful cathedral ceilings and three sets of sliding glass doors allow not only amazing views, but visually bring in the outdoors and allow easy access to outside! The open concept kitchen, dining area, and living room add comfortable space for all indoor activities. Just perfect. The water has a sandy bottom with a gradual drop off making swimming very nice here. It may not be conducive for very young ones though unless closely supervised by a responsible adult. You will find a brand new dock as well. The “Watahwaukin” comes equipped with all the amenities needed for a great stay from cooking spices to board games. The Sparkling clean well-water is simply delicious. From this location you can take a variety of day trips to coastal Maine. Some of the more popular day trips are to Camden, Rockport, Belfast, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, and Rockland ferries to coastal islands. Activities from these locations include Owls Head Museum, Farnsworth Museum, sailing, deep sea fishing and excellent dining at Fisherman's Wharf. Local attractions include golfing, bowling, hiking and a variety of summer festivals and fairs. A visit to "Hussey's General Store" is a must! The lake house is equipped with Fast Broadband internet with wireless LAN. “Watahwaukin” boasts a full entertainment system that includes television, AM/FM Stereo, Video, CD, DVD and cassette tape inputs along with music and movies to enjoy. The Roku TV adds another dimension to the entertainment system with Netflix, Hulu and other fun capabilities. Come, Relax and Enjoy!
