The SpaceTucked away on a private mountain road, this luxurious, spacious mountain hideaway has room for your friends, family and pets. Gated In-ground Pool with diving board on the deep end, stairs going into the pool on the Shallow End. Kids and Dogs love to jump in and climb out. The NeighborhoodSpacious and luxurious inside and out, yet minutes from the heart of South Egremont, MA, a pre-Revolutionary town where -- unforgettably -- the old and new come together. To Berkshire natives, the area of Western Massachusetts recalls memories of childhood vacations in the grandeur of its majestic green hills, of swimming in mysterious hidden lakes that dot the state and of family lunches and dinners at favorite restaurants on its country roads. To us the Berkshires have always been alive with music by the Boston Symphony orchestra at Tanglewood in Lenox, and rich in the famous folksy paintings in the fabulous collection at the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge. Today, new memories are being born with innovative attractions that co-exist and blend with the natural beauty of the area....a rope adventure course in a forestry site where you'll be suspended on safety lines between the earth and the forest canopy as you scramble along any one of eight aerial trails of varying difficulty....new Berkshire restaurants like Brava, a wine and tapas bar in Lenox and Moe's Tavern in Lee where craft beer and American whiskey lovers mingle, and an old standby, Bagels Too in Pittsfield, has some of the country's best bagels outside of New (URL HIDDEN) Arrowhead, take a tour of the 18th century home of Herman Melville where he completed Moby Dick. Then, on to the Old Creamery Co-Op in Cummington to pick up sandwiches and head to Savoy Mountain State Forest in Florida, MA for a swim in one of the crystalline ponds, followed by your picnic lunch. Getting AroundGreat restaurants both in South Egremont and nearby in Great Barrington. Other Things to NoteDoggies are welcome!

The Space5 Min Drive to downtown GREAT BARRINGTON - named #1 Best Small Town in America. **HOUSE RENTED UNTIL JULY 2016** Originally built in 1848, the house has been renovated upstairs and down. The house is light-filled; windows allow views of the gardens and back yard. DOWNSTAIRS: Front room, living room, eat-in kitchen and seasonal back room. We are in the process of winterizing the seasonal back room so that it can be fully used in the winter. One of the two fully renovated bathrooms is also on this ground floor (tub and shower both). Washer/dryer on first floor. UPSTAIRS: There are four bedrooms: the master which amply fits a king bed, a second bedroom which fits a queen bed, a third bedroom which amply fits two twin beds (or one king), and the fourth bedroom, which can fit a twin bed. The second full bathroom has also been completely renovated - it has a shower only. The house includes a fully renovation studio space in a separated barn. The barn was gutted and fully renovated, and now has reclaimed antique wooden floors, antique beams, and four windows. It's a great studio space -- we used it as a film production & editing office when we lived in the house. (No bathroom in this space) At the back of the property, at the end of a short path through the woods, is a sweet, small wooden playhouse. About The Branch House: In 1848, Orson Branch, a carriage maker, built this post-and-beam house for his new bride, Mary Ann. From this home from (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN), Orson quietly made the carriages and wagons for his neighbors. We have found pieces of his old carriages up in the woods behind the house. If you look at the hand-hewn beams in the bedrooms you can still see Orson’s ax marks. His original plank floors still run through the rooms. Interaction with GuestsWe are New Yorkers who moved to Great Barrington 4+ years ago when we realized the incredible quality of life we could have. This home was originally our weekend house, and when we first moved to the area, we lived in this house full-time for 2 years. We've since moved to a nearby house in Great Barrington. We are close by and very responsive if you need anything, but otherwise we believe in letting our tenants enjoy their home privately. The NeighborhoodThe Berkshires is full of wonderful outdoor activities and many cultural attractions, including Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Berkshire Theater Festival, Shakespeare & Company, and historic sites. A short walk down our road brings you to the Appalachian Trail for hiking. Nearby, there are lots of amazing hikes (waterfalls, gorges, mountains) to explore. Terrific road biking for adults. Rail trails are 25+ minutes away. Vibrant downtown Great Barrington is less than 10 minutes away by car and includes a diversity of interesting restaurants and shops, the historic Mahaiwe Theater (music/dance/theater), the Triplex Cinema (movies), coffee houses and the organic Berkshire Food Co-Op. 5 minutes to Catamount Sk Resort; 10 minutes to Butternut Ski Resort by car. Getting AroundWhile you can walk to the center of small South Egremont (which consists of 2 restaurants, a general store, a post office, a one-room schoolhouse, one high-end ski/sports store, a second-hand consignment shop, antique shops, churches, a quilting shop, two B&Bs, and a small part-time library). But for anything else - you need a car. Other Things to NoteThe house is part of the charming South Egremont Village Historic District and is a short walk to the terrific Old Mill Restaurant, as well as Mom’s Restaurant and village shops. Our house sits on a large tree-lined plot facing a serene, beautiful tree farm so there is a sense of being connected to the village and yet having privacy.

This house is like stepping inside a Currier and Ives print or a Beatrice Potter illustration of simple, country good cheer. It is a few minutes' drive to two ski slopes and provides a snug place to relax whatever your day entails. It has a wonderful layout and is deceptively large inside. It's cozy enough for one person or a couple but also spacious enough to easily hold a family. First floor has dining room, step-down living room, small hideaway room and den. Wood-burning fire place. Second floor offers a wing for the master bedroom with its own bathroom. The main upstairs hall connects two bedrooms and large bathroom. This design means two couples can have relative privacy; adults and kids can enjoy some distance. Two of the bedrooms are furnished with queen bed (so 2 queens in the house). One bedroom has twins. A downstairs room off the TV den has single bed. One of the couches is suitable for an overnight guest. The house was renovated two years ago to update the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. New kitchen appliances, wi-fi. Washer/dryer in basement. Screened porch in back of house for skis with pass-through window from kitchen for summer. Dogs are fine but sorry, no cats since many people are allergic. Parking in back, along white fence. Part of the charm of the house is the way it catches light through the antique windows. Some built-in cabinetry, uneven floors and surprising nooks and crannies add to the delight. Kitchen is well equipped and there is ample linen. It's nicely located in the heart of historic *South Egremont, in a row of similar white clapboard houses. House is bright and sunny in winter; leafy and relaxing in summer. Have a nap, take a bike ride, grab a book, wind down, slip out of time. Rivers, lakes, tennis courts within minutes in a car. Hiking options all around. 5 minute drive to Catamount Ski Slope, 15 minutes to Butternut Ski Slope. Walk a few minutes to Old Mill restaurant, post office, country store, liquor shop, Kenver ski outfitter, public golf course and free library. Lots of antique shops and auctions and tag sales. Five-minute drive to Great Barrington with art-house movies, nightlife, gourmet and organic food stores and Saturday morning farmers' market. Minutes from Tanglewood, Berkshire School, Bash Bish Falls, and Shakespeare & Co. 30 minutes to Pittsfield theaters or Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival. Just over two hours from New York City and Boston. House is located in village of South Egremont. The listing says Great Barrington because that works better with navigation devices.
