If you are looking for a waterfront cottage just 45 feet from Seal Harbor, with a magnificent southern exposure that includes a busy fishing harbor, the open Atlantic Ocean and numerous protective islands then perhaps you should consider this two bedroom classic Maine Coast waterfront cottage. You could just quietly sit, relax and watch an ever-changing stream of fishing boats, sunrises, lobster boats, coastal windjammers, sunsets, sailing boats, moonrises, kayaks, seals and seabirds, all from a comfortable chair by a window. Or... you should really get outside the cottage and experience the coast of Maine in person. There are plenty of places to go and things to do. If just looking at one of the world's best coastlines isn't enough, then bring a boat or two of your own and take advantage our strategic location at the gateway to the thousands of islands of Maine. If the Summer Heat has got you down, then try our natural air conditioning which occurs when you put an island close enough to the mainland to be conveniently connected by a bridge but still far enough away to able to take advantage of the moderating temperatures of the ocean. Nature is kind enough to provide cool breezes in the summer and warmer temperatures in the winter. If you have a temperature sensor in your car, you will be pleasantly surprised to see it drop by about 10 degrees as you drive over the island bridge. The wonderful part is that this phenomenon reverses during the cold seasons, and combined with our new heating system, "Sprucy" is no longer just a spring, summer and fall destination. In order to insure that everyone is comfortable, we rent to a maximum of 4 people at a time. There are two bedrooms. One is small and the other is smaller. The small bedroom offers a queen bed, the smaller one offers a full size bed. There is also the option of a queen sleeper couch in the living room near the huge old granite fireplace. It is a perfect location for explorers, hikers, boaters, kayakers, sailors or armchair captains. If you ever tire of the harbors, inlets, bays, beaches and islands, we are always within 10 miles or so of, Tenants Harbor, Port Clyde, Owls Head, Rockland, Thomaston, Rockport and Camden, to name a few of our closest neighbors. And, to try and satisfy all those who aren't happy unless they are simply swimming in technology, we finally succumbed to connectivity and got a fancy new high speed DSL internet connection (wired and wireless) and a 19" flat screen LCD TV/monitor and DVD player for the satellite dish hook up. "SPRUCY" is about 60 miles east north east of Portland, Maine, about 7 miles south of Rockland, Maine and about 45 feet north of Seal Harbor. As the chart and photographs show, we are surrounded by islands, coves, bays and the open ocean. We are located on Spruce Head Island which is considered to be part of South Thomaston, Maine. See more information and reviews at oceansights.com We are set up as a weekly vacation rental starting on Saturdays but we will reserve shorter stays for last minute reservations. Normal rental period is one week. Off season terms are more flexible Additional fees may apply: - Maine lodging tax | 8% of rent On the waterfront of the south side of Spruce Head Island, Maine with a southern exposure looking out at a picture perfect view of Seal Bay, Penobscot Bay and the Atlantic Ocean that is framed with spruce clad rocky points and islands.

The SpaceBufflehead feels like a vacation house in Maine should — all breezy and light-filled with the waterfront reflecting on the vaulted ceiling above the massive stone fireplace. It feels like home and an escape all at once and that is a combination rarely found. Located on Spruce Head Island (easily accessed by car via the bridge), Bufflehead gives the unique experience of island living without being landlocked. When you want to be away from it all, you are. When you want to drive into Rockland or Tenants Harbor to spend a day exploring, hop in the car and you are there in 10 minutes. The house is located on almost an acre of private and well-landscaped waterfront. Thanks to a large, green lawn and lots of outdoor living space, Bufflehead is as wonderful outside as it is inside. The waterfront is ever changing with the tide — at high tide, it is a great place to swim and kayak from and at low tide, walk out to the small rock islands that are exposed when the water recedes, look for crabs and other sea creatures under the seaweed or watch birds pick their way across the sea bottom. The house is a blend of cottage charm and contemporary styling — vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a multitude of large windows (it`s truly amazing to watch the light change here throughout the day) and an open-concept floor plan. The house opens onto a large, modern kitchen with stainless steel countertops. All modern kitchen appliances and amenities are provided — an island and lots of counter-top space for ease of preparation and a breakfast bar that allows those in the kitchen to interact easily with the rest of the house. The dining area is combined with the living room in a large space at the front of the house — the dining table seats 6 comfortably (there is also a fun kids` table for little ones) and overlooks the deck and the waterfront. The living room, which has a working fireplace and a flat screen television, occupies the rest of the space. This is truly a comfortable living room with slipcovered couches and chairs and a chaise lounge by the window — read here for hours or watch the tide come in and out. Floor-to-ceiling windows flank the fireplace. The house has satellite television, high speed Internet and a Bose sound system. There is also a library of books and games provided. The deck is accessed off the living room — find a gas grill here as well as lots of outdoor furniture. There is a bedroom and a full (shower) bathroom on the first floor. The bedroom has 2 twin beds and is located next to the bathroom. The laundry closet, with full-sized washer and dryer, is also available for guest use. Another handy feature on the first floor is the mud room — this room is off the kitchen and a perfect place to ditch sandy shoes and hang up towels after a day on the beach. Upstairs, there is a loft area with a large desk where the modem for Internet access is available. There is also a sitting area here with a couch. The master bedroom is located at the back of the house with a full bathroom (tub and shower combination). The master is large and private with a queen four-poster bed and views of the water from the side windows. The master feels private, quiet and very comfortable. Just yards from the house find a separate guest suite above the garage. This space has its own entrance and bathroom (shower) and a queen bed. The room is large and comfortable with great views. 2br Cottage

Harcliff is a large (6 bedroom) summer home located at the end of a quiet town road where local lobster fishermen can be seen hauling their traps. The large front and back lawns allow room for family activities. It is not however suitable for very large groups or weddings. A long pier and rowboat give access to the ocean. The tide is quite dramatic (9 ft+) but the cove is suitable for mooring your own boat. The nearest neighbor is over 100 yards away barely visible through the trees. Walking in the opposite direction through the woods and you are on the state beach. The house has two living units, which allows the Atkinson's to vacation there on occasion. The rental unit is the left side of the building and the downstairs features a kitchen, dining & living rooms, bath with shower and two bedrooms. A large deck off the dining room is great for social gatherings. Rooms on the second floor are a bath with tub and double vanity, three bedrooms, two of which face the ocean. It feels like home and an escape all at once and that is a combination rarely found. Located on Spruce Head Island (easily accessed by car via the bridge), Bufflehead gives the unique experience of island living without being landlocked. When you want to be away from it all, you are. The house is a blend of cottage charm and contemporary styling — vaulted ceilings, hardwood floors, a multitude of large windows (it's truly amazing to watch the light change here throughout the day) and an open-concept floor plan. The house opens onto a large, modern kitchen with stainless steel countertops. All modern kitchen appliances and amenities are provided — an island and lots of counter-top space for ease of preparation and a breakfast bar that allows those in the kitchen to interact easily with the rest of the house. The living room, which has a working fireplace and a flat screen television, occupies the rest of the space. This is truly a comfortable living room with slipcovered couches and chairs and a chaise lounge by the window — read here for hours or watch the tide come in and out.
