Our suite living area has a full entertainment center including flat screen TV with cable, VCR, DVD and Wi-Fi is also included. No need to be concerned about the loud TV or the party in the hotel room next door as your hosts are the only other people in the building and we like peace and quiet. Enjoy our lakefront deck while having direct lake access for kayaking, fishing and swimming, or take advantage of the numerous nearby hiking trails. Brown's Bear is gay and lesbian friendly Adirondack lodging. Guest AccessEnjoy our screened in back porch or our lakefront, mountain view deck. Guests do not have to come through our living area to access the upstairs accommodations. Interaction with GuestsAs previously mentioned my husband and I reside downstairs and the private guest suite is upstairs. We both love interacting with our guests and accommodating them so they enjoy their stay but guests who desire peace, quiet and privacy will certainly enjoy their stay at Brown's Bear. We are happy to make suggestions regarding hiking, kayaking, dining and nearby attractions but we respect our guests privacy and do a pretty good job of knowing the level of interaction our guests feel comfortable with. The NeighborhoodBrown's Bear is a lakefront home located at the east end of Lake Pleasant in the Village of Speculator. The private upstairs lakefront suite accommodations were originally designed and built to provide privacy for our adult children and their families whose careers took them to North Carolina and California. Hence the availability of the accommodations for the Airbnb community. Getting AroundThere is no public transit but Brown's Bear is within walking distance to the Village Center, the Village Beach and Village Park, the Sacandaga Pathway Nature Walk, the Timberline Coffee Café, the Sunrise Diner, the Common Grounds Café. Other Things to NotePlease read the entire listing, view all the pictures and ask any questions before booking. Inasmuch as the lakefront private suite is on the second floor of our home, only reserved guests can check in and during your stay additional "guests" are not permitted. Additionally, if you are not going to be staying here you cannot make a reservation for anyone else under your personal account. We find that personally welcoming our guests and orienting them to the accommodations works best for us as hosts and our guests as well, unless previously agreed upon, check in is no later than 9:00PM and please keep us informed regarding your arrival time so we can plan our day or evening accordingly. There will be a $25 fee for check-ins before 2pm or after 9:00pm and only by prior arrangement, and a $50 fee for check-ins after midnight also only by prior arrangement. Also, unless agreed upon at the time the reservation is made, in order to prepare the accommodations and achieve the very high level of cleanliness we provide for our incoming guests we cannot accommodate late check out.

The Space500 feet of private waterfront with dock and boathouse. 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, one with a double bed. There is one bath (shower only), an outdoor shower (in the warmer months), indoor fireplace, outdoor firepit, full kitchen, large and small weber grill, wifi, 40" flat screen for DVD's and netflix movies (but no cable). There is a reading and tv room with a gorgeous views of the lake for those lazy days. SPRING, SUMMER, FALL: Lots of lakes, rivers and mountains to hike to and explore, or take advantage of our incredible location directly on the best kayaking spot. Kayak 10 minutes to the right to Lake Piseco where you can dock your kayak on one of the small islands and enjoy a swim in the clear water with sandy bottom of Lake Piseco. If you are an experienced kayaker, 30 minutes to the left of us is remote Big Bay Lake - this may require a carry over some rocks dependent on level of water at the time (level changes daily). The Boathouse provides very easy access to the 4 kayaks, one canoe and lake floats, so no need to carry them anywhere. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, but is amazing for kayaking and seeing fish and wildlife watching. We kayak 10 minutes to Lake Piseco for swimming. Boats available May 15-Oct 30 only. WINTER Being inside this cabin in winter is like being inside a snow globe during a snow storm - it's all windows, is a beautiful site. A unique feature of this location is that the lake out front does not freeze (it's moving water), so there are water views and active wildlife year round. Terrific winter hiking, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling and some downhill skiing in this area. We supply a list of local hikes, restaurants and other attractions. An all wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate the woodsy driveway in snow season. The other option is to park at end of driveway and walk in. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN This is a no parties, no smoking, no pets, allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited septic and well capacity, so we have a strict 4 person limit on the property at all times. We do our best to keep a pristine and very comfortable, clean home for our guests, we are sure even the most discerning travelers will be very happy here. This is an exceptionally private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet (where we are) from Piseco Lake, and you can hear (but can't see) the cars going over the bridge, which is the only thing we would change if we could. Our minimum stay varies throughout the year...please send exact dates and we will let you know the policy for that time of year. Guest AccessEverything except one owners cabinet and use of the boathouse is limited to May 15-Oct 30. Interaction with GuestsWe are available via email and have a local house manager who can assist while there if needed. The NeighborhoodHamilton County was officially designated "Frontier Land" by the Federal Government due to it's vast wilderness and sparse population. It is stunningly beautiful in all seasons with great outdoor exploration opportunities. Piseco has limited entertainment venues - just stunning outdoor beauty, lakes, rivers and mountains. Speculator has shops, grocery, restaurants and is 15 minute drive - still limited however. Getting AroundNo public transport, must have car. Best to have all wheel vehicle in winter to navigate our woodsy driveway - it's plowed regularly - but we are in the woods. Other Things to NoteThis is for independent travelers who are excited about privacy, but willing to be a bit self sufficient if something comes up. We are not local. The cabin is in the woods, in the heart of the Adirondacks, stuff happens. We have a local house manager, a housekeeper and professionals (electricians, plumbers etc) who can assist. Be aware that in Winter - it's stunningly gorgeous - but the weather and property conditions vary. We plow regularly - but even after a plow the driveway can be tricky, possibly requiring you to walk in (happened once winter 2014). We supply shovels, sand, salt so you can help yourself after a storm. So if you are expecting a guarantee of zero hassles/challenges this may not be the property for you. We do have a (very expensive!) generator, so during the occasional power outages that happen in the ADK's, you will not go without power. Our housekeeper puts aside Mondays and Fridays for us - so spring summer and fall rentals must begin and end on one of those days. Winter is a little more flexible, please ask. This is a back to nature experience, in an exceptionally comfortable cabin. Lots of hiking and outdoorsy stuff to do here, or simply stay inside and enjoy the view! We supply many things most rentals do not, such as spices, napkins, paper towels, plastic wrap, tin foil, washer detergent, sponges, honey, sugar, blender, crockpot, teapot and more - we try to supply those things you'd have at home but wouldn't necessarily think to shop for. It's our goal to make this an exceptional, easy and breezy experience for all our guests!

The SpaceYou can bring your own boat, or rent one during your stay to store in your own marina. Of the three bedrooms, two have queen beds and the third has two twin beds. The bathrooms both have showers. There is a brand new washer and dryer. Guest AccessYou will have access to the kayaks and canoes, as well as a common dock and swim area. We also have a large DVD collection and a full list of great hikes in the area. Interaction with GuestsWe live in a separate house on the same property in the summer. The NeighborhoodOur Boathouse was originally built in the 1800s to provide access to Bearhurst, an Adirondack Great Camp. We now have road access, but love having the Boathouse to add lots of charm to this beautiful property! Other Things to NoteThere are four other smaller rental cottages on the same property. You can see more photos of the property on our (email hidden). 3 night minimum.

Camp Wildflower is a cozy, comfortable, year round cottage on the lake side of Rt 8 on Lake Pleasant in Speculator, located among the pines and flowering foliage that carpet the landscape of the Adirondacks.Enjoy the mountain air from the generous wrap around deck, play games on the large level yard, or spend the day at the beach swimming and lounging. From the deck there is a filtered view of the lake but luckily it's an easy couple minutes walk down the side road to the sandy, deeded beach access on Lake Pleasant. Here the water starts shallow with a gradual slope and the bottom is sandy; beach chairs and toys are provided. Carried boats only such as kayaks & canoes allowed. No dock use or towed boats- plan to use marina for these boats. In the winter months snow mobilers will appreciate the close proximity of the trail that comes off the lake. Not an "outdoor" day? Camp Wildflower has wireless internet, TV/DVD players in each bedroom and Netflix streaming in the living room for countless movie access as well as the Wii with 2 controllers for family fun. Additionally, there are books, puzzles, children's toys and board games. The camp is a five minutes drive to Camp-of-the-Woods. Camp Wildflower has an open living room/ kitchen/ dining concept with 2 bedrooms (1 full; 1 twin bunk bed; and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room) and 1 bath (shower/ bathtub with various toiletries provided). The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, utensils, appliances and the pantry is stocked with the "basics" - spices, oils, baking & cooking supplies, condiments, as well as paper products and cleaning supplies etc. Don't feel like cooking? The "Inn at Speculator" is just a quick walk, or you might decide to take a stroll to the village where you will find various restaurants and diners that are sure to please everyone's palate - and don't forget the ice cream shops for dessert! While in the village, take advantage of the many activities there: shopping, tennis, basketball, library, public beach, boat launch, bike trail, children's playground and, one of our favorites, the nature boardwalk. Please bring your own bed linens (sheets and pillow cases) for 1 full, 2 twin (regular size- not XL) for bunks and 1 queen sleeper-sofa, as well as your own bath/hand/face towels and beach towels. Mattresses are covered (mattress pads provided). Kitchen linens are provided. There is a clothes line outside as well as a drying rack inside and there's a laundromat in town. Camp Wildflower is our vacation home, and we truly appreciate the consideration our guests extend to other guests and neighbors by being reasonably quiet and respectful of other's property during their stay. Saturday check-in preferred- send message for other days. Camp Wildflower is available for seasonal winter rental ( 3 month term) starting in January 2016. Earlier and later terms are also available. Please message if you are looking for a place for your winter activities! A snowmobile trail to the lake is just outside your door and other trails are only a few minutes away. For skiing and snow tubing enthusiasts Oak Mountain is less than 2 miles down the road.

Very Romantic Cabin in the Woods, on the Water, with Ultimate Privacy. There are no neighbors, just wildlife and an occasional beaver or canoe gliding by. This is a terrific opportunity to experience the beauty of natural wilderness from the comfort of the sofa :). If you enjoy outdoor adventure, there is ample opportunity. The cabin is all windows, it sits directly over the water, the view is stunning. We turn off the lights at night, turn on the fire, and enjoy the reflection of the moon off of the lake, just beautiful. Our favorite time is in the early morning watching the fog lift off the lake, it's worth the early rise. The cabin sits directly over the outlet of Piseco lake, 500' of private waterfront with dock and boathouse. 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other with a double. There is a cozy TV and reading room for movies and catching up on that great novel. We have one bath inside (shower only), an outdoor shower (during warm months), indoor propane fireplace, outdoor fire pit, a very well equipped kitchen, weber grill, indoor and outdoor Sonos Stereo, wifi, 40" flat screen for netflix movies and DVD player (but no cable). Accommodates 4 persons max but is the PERFECT romantic getaway for two. This cabin was featured in a 6 page article in Cabin Life Magazine SPRING, SUMMER and FALL Many hiking opportunities to remote lakes, rivers and mountains nearby, see our pictures for some of the local views which are just stunning. A visit to the Adirondack Museum is a must. There is of course the unique opportunity to enjoy some of the best kayaking directly from our boathouse. An easy kayak 10 minutes to the right and you will find yourselves on beautiful Piseco Lake. Kayak 30 minutes to the left to a more remote wilderness lake (experienced kayakers only this way - may have to do a small carryover depending on level of water that day). Or you may choose to just paddle around out front. In either direction there is plenty of natural wild shoreline and wildlife to explore. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, except for one deep swimming hole, but you can kayak 10 minutes to the lake and enjoy the clear water. stunning vista and sandy bottom of Lake Piseco. Pull up on one of the many small rock islands and swim from there. Please note that our watercraft is available for use May 15-Oct 30 only. Fall Foliage is SPECTACULAR here! WINTER This cabin is like being inside a snow globe in the winter. There are so many windows you are simply surrounded by the snowfall, it's a beautiful sight! The water views are ever-changing, the ice flows come and go and change daily, very pretty views year round. 2 sets snowshoes provided plus one child pair. A unique winter feature is that the water out front never freezes (it's slow moving) so you have year round lake and wildlife views. Many winter hiking, snowshoeing and x-country and downhill skiing adventures to be found locally. Great winter fishing, active otters and minks are frequently seen playing and fishing out front. There is a fun small downhill ski mountain, Oak Mt in next town over. Gore is 50 minute drive. This is snowmobile country - hundreds of miles of groomed trails through the woods and across the many lakes here. Stop in to a local pub for lunch and a beer - and head out to the next lake. Local snowmobile rentals and lessons/guides available. But our favorite activity in winter is sitting by the fire with a hot cocoa and observing the changing ice flows and the active wildlife on the lake, all from the comfort of the sofa :) In winter an all wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate our woodsy dirt driveway. It is plowed regularly, but can be tricky in bad (or depending on how you look at it - good) snow. Other option is to leave your car at end of drive and walk in. MORE ABOUT THE HOUSE This is a no parties, no smoking, NO PETS (sorry we cannot make exceptions, please don't ask!), allergy sensitive household. No more than 4 persons here at any time. We do our best to keep a pristine home, we are sure even the most discerning guests will be very happy here. Best things about the cabin? Complete privacy, amazing views of a wild and beautiful natural setting, very nice decor and furnishings. Guest wildlife sightings so far have been deer, baby and mama bear, buck, bald eagles, blue heron, minx, otter, coyotes, owl, loons, lots of birds and fish, great variety of ducks, fox. What would we change if we could? Although you see no one from here, there is the Outlet Bridge on Rt 8 near enough that you can hear cars going over it when outside. We do appreciate, however (as do many guests), that we can have ultimate privacy without being too far from civilization. The cabin is very easy to get to. Also, please note that RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests must agree to take home what they bring in, with the exception of small amounts (no more than 1 bag of recycles!). For the small amount of recycles that you leave, you must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. We simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So if you bring lots in, you must agree to take them out! Midweek dates offer some great rates. We have many return guests, so if you like it here and want to come back, we offer reduced rates during our non peak times to our repeat guests. Our Cabin is located on the outlet of Beautiful Piseco Lake. Direct waterfront, complete privacy. GPS and maps do not accurately depict our location, they don't even show the outlet which is a very large body of water (FlipKey map doesn't either) so we send detailed driving instructions (it's easy to get to). This is prime territory for kayaking, hiking, snowshoe and x country skiing and snowmobiling. Lots of outdoor activities! Not much else to do up here, other than play outside, relax, read, and enjoy the view. What to do here? Relax. Enjoy nature and wildlife. Drink in the views. Swim in the Lake. Breathe in the clean air. Go on hikes. Sit by a waterfall. Hike with snowshoes. Read 10 books. Kayak the river or lake. Birdwatch. Antique. BBQ. Play tennis with a lake view. Look for bald eagles, owls, otter, bear and moose. Picnic. Cross country ski. Snowmobile. Sleep. Laugh. Play cards.

              2br cabin
Authentic, classic log cabin with 3 acres of private, wooded property on picturesque Lake Pleasant. Large wrap around porch is a favorite spot to relax, grill up dinner and dine while watching the wildlife and enjoying stunning views of the lake. We just bought and starting renting this sweet cabin, so we have no reviews yet. We do own 5 other cabins all with 5 star reviews. We are on the outlet of Lake Pleasant, so there are lots of birds and animals feeding and nesting out front. We supply a good set of binoculars AND a telescope for guest use. Currently there is a beaver dam out there, fun to watch him (or her). Please note: our waterfront does not have access to the lake, but there is a swim beach in town. You can also rent kayaks, motorboats and stand up paddle boards right down the street to explore the lake. Main cabin has full kitchen with microwave, toaster, coffee maker, kitchenware, dishwasher. Living room has flat screen TV for Netflix (no cable) and great wifi. The Loft has one double and two twin beds. The second bedroom is in a completely separate small cottage that is glammed out with queen bed, chandelier, and a spectacular view across the entire lake. What will you LOVE? This is a unique and authentic Adirondack experience in a classic 1940's log home, with exceptional privacy (you will see no neighbors!), stunning views and an opportunity to enjoy a genuine old timers log camp with new and modern amenities. What may you NOT love? The bathroom is not updated, it has the old style metal camp shower, works fine but is not your sparkling new bathroom. The views are great, but we have no lake access. Can sleep up to 6, but Is most comfortable for a couple or a few single friends (4 beds total). No pets or smoking on property, not to be used for parties or entertaining. CHILDREN: this is not appropriate for children under aged 12, sorry! There are inherent features of this older cabin that we can do nothing about (such as open railings on deck with a 6 foot drop!) so we cannot have young kids here. The area offers fabulous hiking, waterfalls, mountain biking, golf, and tennis. A local marina rents watercraft of all types. The village of Speculator (five minutes) has shopping, restaurants and a public swimming beach. Camp of the Woods is a five minute drive. Some of the other local lakes are great for wonderful hiking trails, grilling/picnic spots, restaurants, and shopping. Rafting, kayaking, four wheeling, horseback riding, museums, and caverns are within close range. We are two hours south of Lake Placid, one hour west of Lake George, and about 90 minutes from Saratoga. Summer is great fun for water sports and the Fall is breathtakingly beautiful. Oak Mountain Ski Center offers chair lift rides in the spring, summer and fall, they have live music, great food year round in the ski lodge. We supply very nice linens and blankets, bath mats, hand towels for the bath and kitchen. We do ask that you bring your own bath towels and beach towels. Guests must agree to our lease (it is online, please be sure to review!) stating "the rules" of the house, and agree to follow our towns strict garbage and recycle rules, which will be clearly posted in cabin. Also - due to our close proximity to the water, our septic and well water are limited, so we have a "no guest" policy, meaning we cannot have anyone other than guests specified on the lease on the property at any time. So this is not the place for family reunions, parties or other gatherings, sorry!

The SpaceOur guest house has a great room (living, dining, kitchen) with windows overlooking the lake and yards. With the exception of the bathroom, which has a tile floor, the entire place has beautiful hardwood floors. The great room includes a flat screen smart TV with a VCR/DVD player. The wireless internet is the fastest available in our area. Any season, you will feel like you are in heaven in this lovely home. Sunny summer days and beautiful snowy winter days are equally wonderful with the view of the lake and mountains on the far side of the lake. Fall is particularly beautiful as the view across the lake is full of color once the leaves start to change. Guest AccessYou have complete use of the second floor home, as well as the entryway on the first floor and the yard to your beach. The outdoor deck is very large. The view from the deck is of the lake and surrounding mountains. The living space is all on the second floor of the guest house over a garage, which is not included as part of the rental. If you bring along your snowshoes, skis or sleds we ask that you store them outside and not in the house. The deck is covered and will keep your winter toys from the snow. Our family dog, Freddie, who is very friendly, is very curious and will run out to meet you and check you out. Although she will initially bark at you, she never bites, and will quickly learn that you are part of the family for her to protect! Please do not let her into your living space and if she is a bother to you, please do not hesitate to let us know. Interaction with GuestsWe like our privacy, and we want our guests to enjoy their privacy. We will welcome you upon your arrival and show you the beach house, yard and lakefront. We are always available to give tips about the area and answer any questions. As outdoor enthusiasts, we will be able to help with suggestions about local hikes, skiing and snowmobile trips, dining and other local attractions and events. We will chat whenever you like, but we will also allow you to treasure your private time in this beautiful Adirondack Mountain lake home. The NeighborhoodThe Town of Lake Pleasant is the county seat for Hamilton County. Our guest house is a couple of miles outside the Village of Speculator. This beautiful "Frontier Land" has many places to explore. One can spend time on the Sacandaga Pathway Nature Walk or climb a nearby mountain ( you will want to bring snowshoes.) There are many trails and waterfalls to be explored in our area as well. You can rent snowmobiles in town. We encourage our guests to bring their winter sport gear. Oak Mountain has a full rental facility for guests who do not own their own equipment. Or you can hang out reading a book while sitting by the gas fireplace. Getting AroundWe have no public transportation in our area. You must have a car, we are not within a short walk to anything but the lake! Once frozen over and safe, walks, cross country skiing or snowmobiling is available on the lake. In the winter, we have the driveway plowed, the deck and paths around the house are shoveled...but if you want to walk on the lake once it is safely frozen over (at your own risk, of course), you might wish to bring along your snowshoes or cross country skis. Other Things to NoteThere are many miles of free groomed snowmobile trails in our area. There is a groomed cross country ski trail in town and we have within 2 miles a downhill ski mountain (Oak Mtn.) Our public library is newly renovated and enlarged with a good collection of books and videos. It also has many free computers for public use. We have many local outdoor guidebooks in the guest house for your use during your stay. The locals flood the outside pavilion for iceskating as soon as weather permits!

The wrap around porch is furnished with Adirondack-style chairs, a dining table, a Weber grill and one truly magnificent view.Guests who stay at this log cabin will also have a second smaller cottage on site. Romantic Cabin in the Woods, on the Water, with Ultimate Privacy. There are no neighbors, you are sharing this amazing location with the wildlife and an occasional canoe gliding by. Beautiful views any time of the year. Cabin Life Magazine did a 6 page feature about this cabin! The house sits right over the lake with 500 feet of private waterfront, a dock and boathouse. The oversized windows capture the beauty of the natural surroundings, the views are stunning, even at night. We turn on the fire, turn off the lights, and enjoy the reflection of the moon off the lake...just beautiful. The sight of the fog lifting in the early AM is worth the early rise. Sleeps up to 4, but this is the perfect romantic spot for two. Great year round destination for couch potatoes and adventurers alike. No need to leave the comfort of the sofa to experience the beauty of the local wilderness, and those who do venture out have plenty of hiking, kayaking, exploring, skiing, snowshoe and snowmobile opportunities. We supply local guide books and restaurant recommendations. Inside cathedral ceilings create an open, airy main room with kitchen, dining and living area with gas fireplace. There are 2 bedrooms, one with queen bed, one with a double. A separate TV room for watching movies, reading or enjoying that mid afternoon nap. Great lake views from this sweet little room as well. We have one bath (shower only), sweet outdoor shower in warmer months, indoor propane fireplace, outdoor firepit, fully stocked kitchen, weber grill, wifi, 40' flat screen for DVD movies and Netflix (but no cable), land line phone (no cell service here!), Sonos Stereo system with indoor and outdoor speakers to enjoy music while grilling or chilling. Need to work while here? We have a desk right up against the window so you can write that novel or email your client while observing the wildlife on the lake. SPRING and SUMMER Comes with 4 very nice kayaks and one 2 person canoe, lake floats and adult life preservers. Our Lakefront Boathouse provides very easy access to the lake, no need to carry them anywhere. Watercraft available May 15-Nov 1 only. This is a kayak haven for both beginners and the more experienced. Kayak 10 minutes to the right, you are on stunningly beautiful Piseco Lake. Kayak 30 minutes to the left (for the experienced kayaker only) to the more remote wilderness of Big Bay Lake. Lots of natural wild shoreline and wildlife to explore right out the front door. Most of our waterfront is too shallow to swim, except for one deep swimming hole. We kayak to the lake and enjoy the clear water and sandy bottom of Piseco Lake for a swim. FALL Need we say how stunningly beautiful it is here during foliage? WINTER This cabin is like living inside a snow globe in the winter...there are so many windows you are simply surrounded by the snowfall, it's a beautiful sight! A unique feature is that the slightly moving water out front does not freeze, so there are water views and wildlife sightings year round. Very special spot. Many hiking, snowshoeing and x-country ski adventures to be found locally. Great fishing. There is a small downhill ski mountain, Oak Mt., next town over. Gore ski mountain is a 50 minute drive. Cross country trails nearby. We supply 2 sets of adult snowshoes and one child pair. This is snowmobile country - hundreds of miles of groomed trails through the woods and across the many lakes. Stop in to a local pub for lunch and a beer, and head out to the next lake. Local rentals, lessons and guides available. But our favorite activity in winter is sitting by the fire with a hot cocoa and observing the wilderness and the ever changing weather from the comfort of the sofa :) An all wheel drive vehicle is necessary to navigate our snowy dirt driveway in winter. It is plowed regularly but can be tricky in icy weather. The other option is to leave your car at the end of the driveway and walk in (rarely necessary). We are surrounded by woods, lake and rivers - so a snowshoe hike right from the front door will take you through very pretty snow covered forest and striking river front spots. MORE ABOUT THIS CABIN This is a no parties, no smoking, NO PETS (sorry!), allergy sensitive household. Due to our close proximity to the water, we have limited well and septic capacity. As a result, we can have no more than 4 persons here at any time, so this is not the place for family reunions or for entertaining. We do our best to keep a pristine home, we are sure even the most discerning guests will be very happy here. This is a very private, secluded property, however it is not remote. It is easy to get to, we are down a private 200ft dirt driveway directly off Rt 8. What's to LOVE? Just about everything listed above. What might you NOT love? There is a small bridge nearby that separates the outlet from Piseco Lake, and you can hear the cars going over the bridge when outside on the property (but not while inside), which is the only thing we wish was different. Also, RECYCLES are a real hassle here. Guests who choose to stay here must agree to take them home if they bring a lot in. Leaving a few is fine, but must agree to follow the towns strict recycle rules - they must be kept clean and separate from garbage. We (i.e. the housekeeper) then have to take them to the dump and separate them into bins by hand. She simply cannot handle this task if large amounts are left. So - our general rule here is like camping - if you bring it in, you must be willing to take it out. This is a great home for self reliant, independent travelers looking for very comfortable, private and pristine accommodations in a unique and special spot to get away from it all. Piseco and the surrounding area are beautiful, but have limited entertainment venues other than nature hikes, mountains, wildlife, lakes and rivers. We have recently added a (very expensive!) generator to the property. So, in the event of (infrequent but they do happen!) a power outage, guests should not lose any amenities (lights, heat, phone, internet). PLEASE NOTE: spring through fall our housekeeper is very busy, she has set aside Monday and Friday for us, so you must arrive and depart on one of those days (so M-F, M-M, F-M or F-F rentals only). Winter she has more flexibility.
