This spacious home is nestled in a wooded clearing, giving you privacy and delight in the life of the forest surrounding you. We offer all the comforts of home since we also come here for our haven getaway. We have collected art, antiques and nature treasures. Enjoy reading my son's journal of the beavers living in the valley with maps of the dams and lodges! Red Oak post and beam construction have created an open kitchen, dining room and comfortable living room. A separate family room offers an extensive library and entertainment center plus another sleeping area for 2 with use of downstairs bathroom. Large windows and a sun room give views of perennial gardens, bird traffic to the bird feeder and bath, cheeky chipmunks and squirrels running on the garden fence and silent deer. Sunlight warms the golden hues of the oak floors, wainscoting, furniture and butternut cabinets. 3 bedrooms upstairs and a hall space have beds for 8, dressers and closets. An upstairs bathroom has a claw foot tub for a cozy soak. Because we are opening our home to you with so many personal touches, we ask that you don't come here for a drinking party weekend. We have had one unpleasant experience where lots of damage was done by inebriated guests. We almost stopped renting at that point! The yard offers a picnic table and lawn chairs, a badminton net, a stone fire pit for roasting marshmallows or hot dogs and relaxing by the fire's glow in the dark forest with its night sounds. There is a small charcoal grill. In season, the garden may have tomatoes, herbs, cucumbers, peppers. The yard and grassy clearings in the woods have scrumptious wild berries to pick; red raspberries, strawberries, black caps mid summer and big blackberries in August and September. You can see eagles and hawks soaring above and in the spring and fall, flocks of geese pass over with their plaintive honks. Explore West Beaver Valley. Hike dry runs for crystal rocks, fossils and hidden waterfalls cut deep in the rock. Climb the bluffs to rock outcroppings with caves and wild inhabitants! Follow West Beaver Creek, rich with rare songbirds, herons, kingfishers, a mallard hiding her ducklings in the weeds, a beaver may slap the water to warn of you! Wade or be brave and swim in a deep pool, refreshing! Take a tour of Schech's Mill and buy some stone-ground cornmeal. Enjoy the beauty of the mowed trails in Beaver Creek Park and watch or fish the trout under the bridge, all within a mile!

Corporate groups, hunters, fishers, family reunions, groups of friends, visiting "the kids" at Luther and an upcoming wedding are all examples of groups that trust The Lodge to provide fantastic, comfortable accommodations for their special events. In fact, as owners, we love this place so much that it is tough to pack up to leave when we know that our guests are enroute to our log getaway. We've planned, furnished and decorated this home to tickle your fancy and to provide a little education for your gang.... and we've learned a lot during that process. Outdoor space, including the grill/picnic table, firepit/benches, cement patio/table and chairs, and deck with three rockers and two sets of tables and chairs encourage you to break out into nature. Our grass is still a work in progress, but "to everything there is a season", and it will be lush before long so you can enjoy our assortment of lawn games. You will find one bedroom with a queen bed and its closet on the main level, close to the bathroom with shower, tub, sink and toilet. Easy access. Upstairs, on the loft level, are three more bedrooms, two including a queen bed and one equipped with four twin beds (aka the bunkroom!). There is a bathroom on every floor for your convenience. The loft bathroom is generously sized and has a shower with glass door. Our kitchen is convenient to the back door, making toting in your food supplies quite easy. There is cabinet space open for your groceries, as well as a side by side refrigerator that will hold many bags of goodies. Plenty of cooking tools, pans, and serveware make it easy to rustle up some tasty treats. The great room has a stunning rock gas fireplace with a thick walnut slab mantle, complete with natural bark edge! Aren't you curious about the large "friend" who is perched on the high mantle? A turkey fan, several fish and a deer add that trophy room touch to this gathering area. Oh, the stories that these walls will hear when friends and family gather. No TV distraction; just great conversation. If you need to finish the great book that you've toted along, snuggle in your bedroom, on the large sectional in the walkout level, or choose a loft level chair to enjoy that literature with a cup of tea. There is a TV on the loft level, in the walkout level (with DVD player), and a small version in the kitchen for folks who need their fix of HGTV, news or sports! The lower level is a space where there can be competition and munchies together. The bar space includes a sink, hidden refrigerator and small microwave as well as glassware for your favorite beverages. (The beer mugs are cooling in the refrigerator for you right now.) Billiards, shuffleboard and a variety of table games await your gang. Rules are posted, so you can learn as you go. The outdoor spaces that are completed include the main level deck with a spectacular view of Bear Creek. Great for photo moments, breakfast or gathering with appetizers and cocktails before dinner. There is also a patio table on the cement patio off of the walkout level. Outside of the main entry you'll find the charcoal grill and a picnic table. Off in the edge of the driveway is your S'mores headquarters; the fire pit and custom made benches. Grass will be in place as Mom Nature dictates. Those little seeds will be joined by timely additional plantings throughout the summer. We are anxious to get a nice crop of grass for the kids and grandkids to romp on.
