The SpaceOur 3,000 square foot house, built in 2006, has a 900 square foot guest suite on the lower level, reserved exclusively for your own use. Outside your private entrance, enjoy patio furniture overlooking a nicely landscaped cul-de-sac and a quaint, quiet valley within Eugene that's surrounded by evergreen forest trees that blanket lovely hills. The Layout and What's Private Our guest suite includes a fully private bedroom and bathroom, and you also get a family room and kitchenette that are visually separated from the upper level by an open stairwell that bends midway, with full privacy limited to the bedroom and bathroom. Altogether, you get about 900 square feet for your exclusive use, so nobody else will use the lower level of our house during your visit. You also get your own private entrance from the cul-de-sac side of our corner lot. We live and work on the upper level, the main floor of our house, and we have our own entrance that's separate from your entryway. Your guest suite excludes a second bedroom on the lower level that we reserve for our daughter, who works in Silicon Valley and visits when we don't have Airbnb guests. Smoke & Vapor Free Indoors & Outdoors For details, please see the House Rules section below. The Setting • A quiet respite tucked inside southeast Eugene, within a charming little valley surrounded by tall evergreen trees • Drive to UO in 4 or 8 minutes, either through major roadways (the short way) or via Hendricks Park, a majestic forest (the long way) Guest Suite Details • The bedroom includes a new queen-sized firm bed. We also have an optional twin-sized, firm-foam mattress for one additional guest that's unusually comfortable; you can place this portable mattress anywhere on the thick-padded carpeting, either in the bedroom or the family room. • Spacious 9-foot ceilings throughout the guest suite • 6 sunny windows, including 3 that span the floor-to-ceiling (a caveat: 7 months of the year the windows aren't so sunny :) • The bedroom includes a large dresser, a night stand, a desk, a swivel chair, and a walk-in closet • The kitchenette includes a stove top with 2 burners, a microwave, a toaster oven, a dishwasher, a 3-foot tall refrigerator with mini-freezer, plus dishes, silverware, pots, pans and a Keurig coffee maker • Both ground and instant coffee, a variety of teas, and some snacks • A bathroom tiled in travertine, with double sinks, wall sconces, towels, and common amenities, such as a hair dryer • A family room with a DVD player and a 52” HDTV with hundreds of cable channels for free, including HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, CNN, PBS, Disney, Nickelodeon, ESPN, and many On Demand movies, documentaries, and other shows. • Super fast 50 mbps WiFi access • An exercise bicycle and many nearby hiking trails • You may set whatever temperature you want since each level of our house has separate climate control settings • Free washer and dryer available upstairs • Free, plentiful, and convenient street parking • Message Amy and Mark, your friendly hosts, if you have any questions Guest AccessPlease see The Layout and What's Private section above. Interaction with GuestsWe're usually available to provide information about Eugene or anything else you need, or to just have a friendly conversation. We fully respect your privacy, so we spend as much or as little time with our guests as they prefer, at least as our own time allows (we work long hours on our main business, which we quietly operate from the upper level of our house). The NeighborhoodWe're in the middle of East Ridge Village, a quiet and beautifully landscaped residential neighborhood in the upper end of Eugene's Laurel Hill Valley, with custom houses built in 2005 or later (our house was built in 2006). We're within the city limits (near the edge), so we have all urban amenities, yet our secluded little valley remains hidden from the rest of Eugene. We have two city parks within a couple of short blocks from our house, one that's landscaped with grass and trees, and the other remains natural open space filled with hiking trails. A forest filled with tall Douglas Fir trees surrounds our quaint valley, so it feels very cozy. The interstate highway is only a half mile away for quick access to everything Eugene and Oregon, yet the forested hill that separates Laurel Hill Valley from the university and the rest of Eugene helps our neighborhood remain quiet and peaceful. The Surrounding Area A 5-minute drive to the 12,000-seat Matt Knight Arena and performance venue, the 10,000-seat Hayward track stadium, the UO Natural History Museum, the Schnitzer Art Museum, and the 12-acre Rhododendrun Garden of Hendricks Park. Also 10 minutes or less to 52 restaurants, 20 coffee and tea houses, Downtown Eugene, the local Saturday Market, upscale shopping at Oakway Center and 5th Street Public Market, 2 regional malls, the 2,500-seat Hult Performing Arts Center, the 4,000-seat Cuthbert Amphitheater, the 60,000-seat Autzen football stadium, the 4,000-seat PK Park baseball stadium, the Willamette river and waterfront parks, a 9-acre rose garden, much of the 14-mile Ridgeline National Recreation Trail, both Bijou Arts Cinema locations, the David Minor Theater, and the state-of-the-art Riverbend Medical Center built in 2008. Plus, a 1-minute drive to Interstate 5 for quick access to Everything Eugene. Getting AroundYou can drive to most Eugene destinations within 12 minutes from our house, and all destinations, including the airport, are within 20 minutes by car. We're also 4 minutes from the university by car, and 10 minutes from downtown Eugene. Public buses stop within a couple of short blocks from our house and they get you within walking distance to just about everywhere in the Eugene area. We also have several taxi services that typically arrive within minutes after a phone request, and there's a shuttle service to and from the airport. Amtrak and the state-of-the art BoltBus will take you to Portland or Seattle.

The SpaceClose to Eugene, Oregon, our cozy, cottage-style home in Springfield has two private rooms--this listing has a queen bed and no TV. A smaller second bedroom has a double bed and TV with basic cable (a separate listing). We have one shared bathroom in the house which has a tub/shower. Accommodations are best suited for 1 or 2 guests in the Queen Room, with the possibility (ask first) of additional guest(s) in the small reading and game room that has a futon. We have a well-behaved Yorkshire Terrier, Blair, who is curious but quite polite after she meets and greets you. She doesn’t shed and doesn't go in the extra rooms except to poke her nose in occasionally. (I am highly allergic to shedding animals but I experience no symptoms with her.) We have outdoor kitties that get fed on the back porch but don't come inside the house. Guest AccessFor short stays of one or two nights, a light breakfast will be provided each morning, with coffee or tea available--and if you're lucky, on Saturday or Sunday you might be treated to Chuck's Dutch Baby pancakes if he's home. For stays of three nights or more, we'll provide breakfast on your first day (or weekend if your first day is during the work week). You also have shared access to the kitchen to prepare coffee or tea at any time, as well as store food or beverages in a small, dorm-sized refrigerator. If you wish to cook meals, let us know in advance so we can prepare space for you. The reading and game room serves as a common area, great for reading, with books and games. Though it is a pass-through area for our family to get to the back yard, we try not to use it much when our guests are at home. In nice weather, the back porch and yard are available to you. A fire pit is ready for a camp fire, telling stories, or making S’mores. You are welcome to watch TV or read in our main living room with us if you'd like. Interaction with GuestsWhen we travel, we like our privacy, so we are sensitive to that in our guests. However, socializing is fun too, and we've thoroughly enjoyed every guest we've had. We take the lead from you. The NeighborhoodPlease don't choose our listing if you want upper middle class surroundings because we don't want you to be disappointed! Our home is in a low-to-moderate income neighborhood--it is not beautiful--but it is as safe as most neighborhoods. Our neighbors are hard-working and kind. There is a public school across the street with access to a playground and a jogging track. We are close to an extensive bike path system as well as many city parks. Springfield's Lively Park Swim Center with a wave pool takes only a few minutes to get to. If you like to hike and enjoy great views, you can find them on Spencer Butte, the Ridgeline Trail, or Mount Pisgah. Getting AroundWe are 3 blocks from the main bus line. We are in a central location for quick access to University of Oregon Duck games, performing arts venues, downtown restaurants and pubs, markets, the fairgrounds, fishing on the McKenzie River, and the river path, all within easy driving distance. We are about an hour each from the ocean for site seeing and the mountains for hiking and skiing. Need a ride to your in-town event and be picked up after? For an extra fee, and if our schedule allows, we'll be happy to shuttle you. Other Things to NoteNormal check-in is 3 pm but if you need something different, we'll accommodate whenever we can. Check-out on single night stays ON WEEKDAYS ONLY IS 9 AM. Check-out on multiple-night stays and Saturday and Sundays is 11 AM, but again we'll be flexible when we can. Let us know what you need when you book. Other amenities? Just ask! Many things are possible. Come stay with us!

The SpaceAn elegant curved staircase with cast bronze railing leads from the art and antique filled main floor to this secluded mini-suite. Cozy and comfortable, sheltered by tree tops, this is the perfect room in which to relax after a game or curl up with a book. Leaded glass windows overlook the entire Willamette Valley and Autzen Stadium. The Willamette River runs below; osprey and eagles circle the tops of tall Douglas firs; wild turkeys wander through the neighborhood. Unique, historic, romantic, secluded, built in the Roaring Twenties this romantic room softens the music of the trees to a murmur. There is easy access to hiking, bicycling, and running trails. Pre's Trail is close by and Hayward Field, the most elegant track and field facility in the United States, is only .6 mi. away. The Matthew Knight Arena is even closer. Vintage pieces from England, including a faux grained armoire for storing your clothes, furnish the room. A queen bed, en suite bathroom, and Victorian parlor stove complete the picture. Visit for major events and stay a few extra days. Track and Field: EXPERIENCE THE TRADITION OF TRACK IN TRACKTOWN USA. THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY, LOOKING DOWN ON THE PREFONTAINE TRAIL AND NEXT TO PRE'S ROCK. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to relax in the living room, join others for coffee in the dining room, and when the weather is clement enjoy the view from the balcony. Interaction with GuestsWe are always in residence and available to assist you. The NeighborhoodFairmount likes to think of itself as being somewhat different from the rest of Eugene. That is because Fairmount, in the beginning, was created as a town separate from Eugene. The location of the town was considered to be far more salubrious for its residents than Eugene. The Fairmount Neighborhood, today, is still very different from much of Eugene. Residential building began in the 1890s and before World War II many of the lots were filled with fine residences. Fairmount is also blessed with the majority of the city's older established parks. Hendricks Park is filled with walking trails and the Rhododendron Garden is a delightful stroll. The park and the garden may be reached in a five minute walk from our house. The University of Oregon campus is the western boundary of the neighborhood. This influences the nature of the neighborhood and has led to major student apartment complexes being built on the flat land bordering Franklin Bld. in the past few years. Nearby are Hendricks Park, 78 acres of mature forest with Douglas fir trees over two hundred years old, and the 12 acre Rhododendron Garden containing over 6000 varieties of plants. Hiking, jogging, and birding are outside your door as is the marvelous 1.6 mile Ribbon Trail that laces through the park. Other Things to NoteWhile arrival and departure times are flexible, every effort should be made to meet agreed-upon times. This is an old house. It is home to artists, writers, and major art collectors. It has not been remodeled or renovated; in most instances we have restored the rooms to their original design. (The exception to this is the main kitchen.) We are not minimalists. Airbnb was conceived as a way for hosts to welcome guests into their home. Over the years more commercial ventures have used this platform to simply make empty rentals available.I understand that this is what some people are more comfortable with; however, I hope that the full description on our site makes it clear that we believe in the original concept of Airbnb.

The SpaceThis wonderful room high above the Willamette River and Autzen Stadium accommodates two to four guests in dual full-size beds. Read and relax after a busy day in these comfortable quarters furnished with antique birdseye maple and cherry furniture. Should you have more in your party an adjacent bedroom with a mahogany four-poster full-size bed is available. The vintage bathroom, original to this 1928 home, is immediately across the hall from your bedroom. This not a new house; it is an old house. Spots and blemishes are part of the aging process. We have not attempted to take this 90+ year old house back to being brand new. We have respected the wrinkles it has gained in time. Styles and fashions have changed, but we have remained true to the essence of an old family home. This is not a house for minimalists. Collections are layered. Even a closet is turned into a mini art gallery. A very special place and a very special feeling, just steps away from Pre's Rock and walking distance to campus this is the perfect place to relax after an active day. Most track and field fans are familiar with the location, the tradition, and the history of the residence. The University of Oregon campus and its event venues are within walking distance. Guest AccessGuests have access to the common areas of the main floor including the living room, dining room, and balcony. The main floor kichen and office are not for use of guests. Interaction with GuestsConcierge: We are always in residence and available to assist you. The NeighborhoodLarge groups are charged a $200. security deposit. This deposit is used to defray costs of additional cleaning and related maintenance. All or part of this deposit may be returned to the renter. While arrival and departure times are somewhat flexible, guests should make every effort to meet the times they set. Getting AroundGreen LTD bus stopm (EMEX) is conveniently located at the foot of the hill. This service provides access to most of the greater Eugene/Springfield area. The extensive bike path system is also accessible on the north side of Franklin Blvd. Other Things to NoteWhile arrival and departure times are flexible, every effort should be made to meet agreed upon times. The SpaceThe Laurel Hill Garden House offers a very large space in comparison to many rentals in a similar price range. It is a clean and comfortable private lower unit in a large split level brick home on a landscaped double lot. The house is located in the foothills near Hendrick's Park and Laurel Hill Park. Watch the sun rise from the porch with an East facing hilltop view. The home has two bedrooms with a queen size bed in each, a double bed in the bonus room, and a futon in the living room. This cozy home offers a well stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, large bathroom with soaker tub, 42" plasma tv with DVD player, a wood burning stove, and free wifi. Avoid searching deep into suburbia for a place to stay. Easy I-5 access minutes from the U of O, Hayward Field and Mathew Knight Arena (1.2 mile). Caddy-corner up the hill from Comfort Suites hotel, seen from I-5. This house is adjoined to the owners home so someone is usually nearby if for any reason questions or concerns arise. The rental is a fully self contained house with private entry. Stocked kitchen with microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, and more. (Currently our focus is geared toward short term furnished housing for traveling professionals, foreign students, sabbaticals, people in the process of needing temporary housing when moving to the area, etc. Hence the week long minimum stay. Please inquire for shorter stays. We are happy to rent for shorter stays that fit into our calendar. We are not yet accepting reservations for summer 2016) Guest AccessThe entire private downstairs of a split level 2500sq foot house. Patio space and the lawn immediately in front of the rental is all open to guests of this rental. Interaction with GuestsThe odds are better than not that I will be present in the upstairs unit during most stays. Guests are welcome to let themselves into the rental. I often assist in introducing new guests when I am available. Getting AroundThe nearest public bus stop is about a half mile away from the house. Other Things to NoteSome would call it the "full Oregon experience" There are a few legal cannabis plants in the lower yard. Its just a heads up for those with moral objection. They are small and not currently in bloom and are relatively far from the main house.

The SpaceOur home is very accessible to everything in Eugene. We are near freeway access so it's a short drive to major shopping and UO, but as we are up in the hills we have gorgeous views of Springfield and Hendricks parks. You can even watch the fireworks at Autzen from our back yard. It's not super close but it's still beautiful. Our home is the perfect place to stay during the Bach Festival! Guest AccessGuests will have free reign over the house. This includes the patios, outdoor grill, moveable fire-pit, 60 inch flat screen TV, and cast-iron soaker tub. Interaction with GuestsWe will be available by phone, email, text message, (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN), periscope, carrier pigeon or however you communicate, if you need any help with anything. The NeighborhoodWe love our neighborhood. We are above the fog line so it's often sunny when its foggy and that is a big deal for Eugene. We are surrounded by nature but no big trees block the light in the house. Everyone is very friendly and says hello on their morning walks. Hiking and bike trails are right out the front door, Hendricks park is 1 mile away and lovely children's park is 1/4 mile down the street. Getting AroundThere is a bus stop only about a 1/4 mile down the street. Uber, taxi, and bikes. There is an enormous amount of street parking (several lots by our house haven't been built on yet). Wonderful for family gatherings.
