The SpaceThe 1894 Kingsbury House is a large Victorian Stick-style house on a deep village lot with a beautiful carriage house at the rear of the property. In our 23 years of stewardship we have restored many features and fixtures original to the building (we are only the fourth family to live here). William Morris wallpaper in the living room, Bradbury & Bradbury wallpaper in the dining room, several lighting fixtures original to the construction of the house and original Oak and Chestnut woodwork give the rooms a comfortable "lived in" feel. The wood burning fireplace is used in all but the hottest months of the year. Guest AccessIn addition to a private room and bath, guests are encouraged to use the living room, dining room. The front porch and large garden behind the residence offer locations for relaxing, reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine. During inclement weather, the ballroom, located on the second floor of the carriage house offers a unique retreat. Interaction with GuestsMy wife Ina and I are self-employed, empty-nesters. I operate a part-time woodworking shop (equipped with antique, flat leather belt-driven machinery) in part of the Victorian carriage house on our property and am generally around most days. Gardening and building restoration are my passions. The NeighborhoodThe entire village of St. Johnsville is in the process of becoming a historic district listed on the New York State and National Registers of Historic Places. Directly across the street is the lovely 1909 Reaney Memorial Library and Museum, an 'old curiosity shop' kind of place with something for everyone. The village marina (on the Mohawk River) is just blocks away and the area abounds in historical sites from the American Revolutionary War. Main Street and Bridge Street offer small shops and eateries. Local attractions include the c.1909 public library and local history museum, marina on the Mohawk River and many historic sites central to the American Revolution and the Erie Canal era. We are minutes from the cross-state Erie Canal Bike Path which runs from Buffalo to Albany and just a short drive to the Adirondack State Park which offers great hiking opportunities. Neighboring communities offer interesting and unique shops for day-trippers and museums for art and local history. Getting AroundAdult-sized bicycles are available for exploring the Erie Canalway Bike Trail. Hiking is very popular in the Adirondacks and we have directions, maps, even a local guide to assist you. Other Things to NoteDuring the summer months, St. Johnsville and the surrounding villages offer free, evening concerts. We have lawn chairs and bicycles for guests to use.

Spend a night in the country; our restored 1855 Greek Revival Farmhouse is located on 60 acres in the heart of "farm first country", shared with Amish neighbors. We grow most of our vegetables, fruits and eggs then can, freeze and preserve everything possible; making our "old fashioned" farm country breakfast and desserts fresh in any season. We also make our own breads and jams and jellies which are served daily. A desert and beverage are also served each evening.
