The NeighborhoodLOCATION: *Located 6km from Melbourne's CBD, St Kilda is a beautiful bay-side suburb with a cosmopolitan flair and village atmosphere. *If you like walking, then this is an ideal location. However, car lovers are looked after with easy access to Melbourne's major arterials, such as Nepean Highway and Dandenong Road only a couple of streets away. *The 96 tram (20 -25 mins to Melb CBD), Albert Park Lake and heaps of cool cafes and restaurants are a stroll ST_KILDA'S ATTRACTIONS: St Kilda is one of the most interesting, beautiful and Bohemian parts of Melbourne. Fitrzroy, Acland, Carlisle and Inkerman Streets are mere minutes away and are home to some of Melbourne's best shops and famous restaurants, bars and cafes, including: Cicciolina, Fitzrovia, Rococo, Claypots, Radio Mexico, Cafe Di Stasio, Donovans, Lau's Family Kitchen, Wabi Sabi Garden, Pelican, Newmarket Hotel, Dr Jekyll, etc. Shoppers will love St Kilda too - notable for its fashion boutiques, hip and retro recycles, home-wares and book stores. SPORTS: Kite-Surfing on the bay and many recreational facilities including the Sea Baths, Albert Park Lake and Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre are close-by. Hire a bike or jog along the beautiful foreshore The infamous St Kilda beach is minutes away by foot. Take a stroll down Acland Street and munch on some of the best pastries imaginable. Continue along to the St Kilda beach boardwalk and visit the fairy-penguin inhabitants at sunset as they return to nest after a hard day's swimming. Explore the coastal trail from St Kilda to Elwood (jog up heart-attack hill to clear the lungs!) Move on to Brighton, or head up to trendy Port Melbourne for a spot of roller-blading, sun-bathing and finish the day with the best crispy fish'n'chips (& salad!) by the port. Please note St Kilda is 'colourful', and has a long Bohemian history so you may see ladies of the night. Getting AroundWALKER'S PARADISE: Everything you need is within easy walking distance, including mega-supermarkets, hipster cafes, artisan bakeries, local galleries, live-music venues, fabulous hairdressers, and public transport, not to mention the novel Victorian-era Restaurant-Tram. There's even an internationally renowned Italian cheese-maker down the street! PUBLIC TRANSPORT: Public transport is a breeze. The 96 tram stop is only a few minutes walk away on Acland Street and will take you into Melbourne's city centre within 20-25 minutes on a good run! St Kilda is surrounded by beautiful bay-side areas including Albert Park, South Yarra, Prahran and Port Melbourne so there's a vast range of shopping, dining and recreational opportunities on offer. St Kilda is a vibrant and wonderful location in the most livable city in the world. DRIVING: Drivers are located close to major arterials which means you'll be on the freeway in no time, whether it's Phillip Island, the Great Ocean Road, the Dandenongs, or Mornington Peninsula - all easily accessible day trips from the chalet. Other Things to NoteMost people who've stayed in the chalet love it - it really is a special place. However, please note St Kilda is 'colourful', and has a long Bohemian history so you may see ladies of the night. There are possums living in the trees near the chalet. You'll see them come out at night and eat fruits and vegetation. Possums are cute and furry marsupials but they easily frighten. They are not dangerous but please do not attempt to pat them or pick them up; they might use their sharp claws to break free. You might hear them jump on the roof too!

A really modern apartment right in the middle of St Kilda, just across from Galleon (best breakfasts in Melbourne) and right by all the attractions of St Kilda. The hosts are really helpful and it is definitely where I will be staying next time in Melbourne on a short stay. Easy to find, hard to leave, we had a great time here." Reviewer:Adam Review date:Mar 2013 "This apartment is fantastic and brand new!! we loved the location, right in the middle of St Kilda and Acland street. Acland St is quite noisy but as soon as the sliding door is closed it is very quite. Great value for money and so much better than staying in a nearby hotel. I would definitely recommend." Reviewer:Janelle Review date: Feb 2013 The Neighborhood St Kilda is eclectic, vibrant, fun and full of interesting people right on our beautiful bay in Melbourne. In the hot weather you can enjoy the promenade and beaches by the water - a 5 minute walk from the Apartment. We have Luna Park, great live music venues literally around the corner or down the road from our place. You can find great food, drink and entertainment every day of the week and I will be super happy to help you maximise your experience of our wonderful Neighbourhood! Getting AroundGetting around If you're keen to head into the city you can easily jump on the 96 or 16 tram on Acland St and be there in 20 minutes. Coming in from the airport you have Taxi, Skybus + 96 Tram or FAPAS ( booked bus transfer directly to the corner of our road). We're easy to reach with lots of options. The Melbourne transit system (trams, trains and buses) use the Myki system, have a search on how it all works or I'll explain it all when you arrive. The Melbourne Bike Share system is a quick 5 minute walk from the apartment and it's pretty great for riding around the bay and into the city. Other Things to NoteCar Parking: Fee for car park is $25. % days and over is $50. The car park is suitable for a small or medium sedan- a 4WD won't fit into the space. The clearance is 1.5m for your car. Also check your car antenna before entering the car park, it may be too high and could scrape. Park your car as forward as it can go or the car above (car stackers) may clip yours if not parked properly.

The SpaceYou'll never need a taxi home, because this place is within easy walking distance of ... everything! Despite being situated right in the middle of the action, it's quiet and calm in my home and in the garden. If you prefer the casual and warm atmosphere of a real home over a neat and perfect hotel room- then this is the right place for you. Your room is sun filled in the mornings. You will have a queen size bed with an electrical blanket, a very large wardrobe and a table and chair, where you can easily sit with a laptop. The room is small-medium sized, so fine for a single person, but a little small for two people. I recommend that only single people consider renting the room for more than 14 days. I have my own dog training business and also board dogs in my home, when the owners are away on holiday. I only take one or two dogs at a time and they are generally already trained and well behaved. This place is only suitable for you, if you enjoy dogs' company. What's the catch? Why is the price so low? The cost for the room is low because I also use the house to board dogs and you will need to tolerate that they may be over excitable, jumpy or somehow in your way. -I give you a good price, so that you won't mind :) Please note that I believe in the fairness of the same price for everyone. Therefore, I have quoted my best price upfront and it is non-negotiable. Please only inquire, if you are willing to share my value of fairness and pay the price as quoted by Airbnb. I have a professional cleaner, who comes regularly and cleans the whole flat at no extra cost to you. Guest AccessApart from your room, you will be able to enjoy the super cozy lounge room, a large kitchen and a fantastic sun-filled garden. You will be sharing the bathroom with me. The dogs have access to the garden and the kitchen, but they are blocked off from the rest of the flat. Interaction with GuestsI'll be up for a chat from time to time and unless I'm in a rush, I'll also be more than happy to help with tips on what to see and where to go. I love having travellers in my house and you'll find my mood forever cheerful, however I'm generally busy with my own social life and irregular work schedule. The NeighborhoodIf you want to know a little more about St Kilda, check out the Youtube clip called 'Happy from St Kilda, Melbourne - Australia'. St Kilda has a long history of being a traveler's gathering point. In the old days, it was full of sailors. Nowadays, it's a fun hangout for sunburnt back packers mingling with the notoriously eclectic locals. Getting AroundFrom my house, you only need to walk 100mt to the tram stop, from where you can get a tram directly to The City (30min) and the Northern suburbs (50min). To get to the train station you need to spend 5 minutes in a tram or walk for 15 minutes.
