The SpacePrivate . Stone construction. Post and beam. All new furnishings . 2 queen beds. Sitting room and bath-wooden tub /shower in suite and deck shower. Deck shower and toilet are shared. Also note that "Cozy Screen House on a waterfall" listed on Airbnb is on the Millhouse property. Continental breakfast always included. I always try to make a pancake breakfast during any groups stay .Gluten free options. Local organic products. We love great coffee- always available. You always have the option of bringing food items to prepare in the kitchen- Viking gas stove or on the deck-grill. Guest AccessThe great room with a marble bar and lounge area with a wood stove . 20x40 ft deck with dining table, outdoor shower(hot and wonderful) gas grill- bring and prepare your own meals. You basically have the run of the mill. Wifi on the deck and property so you can work while enjoying the outdoors. Interaction with GuestsAs little or as much as you'd like. I'd say happily and readily available if needed. We are also very happy to assist with travel itineraries and help point folks in the right direction as needed. The NeighborhoodThe river gorge is simply stunning. If you love camping and biking and hiking and skiing and running and fishing and canoeing and birding or simply napping or reading a good book by the river this is the place . Access to the backcountry is a walk up the logging road . Camels Hump, Mt. Abe and the Long trail are a short drive away. There are fine restaurants 15 minutes away. This is a very quiet, private , rural area. Welcome Skiers! Plenty of room for all your gear. Snowshoe or back country ski right out the door. Easy day trips to many cross country and Downhill ski areas. Easy access to the Green Mountain National Forest, The Long Trail, The Catamount Trail and Lake Champlain. Getting AroundBus service connects most of the villages and towns. There is also a daily bus to and from Burlington . Biking around to the various villages is a great way to go. In this rural area an automobile is very convenient... Other Things to NoteBy auto we are about 30 minutes to Burlington, Middlebury, Waitsfield -Warren, Sugarbush, New York State/ Adirondacks via ferry or Bridge,MadRiver Glenn and Shelburne. Stowe is around 45 minutes. Smugglers Notch is 1 hour.Montreal is 2 hours or more depending on the traffic at the Border. If you are a skier, check with us about local conditions. There are 6 ski areas a day trip away. Trout fishing picks up in late spring thru the fall all along the river and on the nearby Otter Creek, Winooski, and New Haven rivers. Coffee, Tea, juice, and/or a full breakfast in the am at your request . There are also at least 2 very fine bakeries 10-15 minutes away. There are 2 general stores - deli, groceries, growlers minutes away. Biking to the Monkton General Store makes for a fine outing. Not suitable for dogs and young children due to the extreme nature of the landscape.

The SpaceThere is no light pollution . The night sky can be amazing. There is very little ambient noise , only the sound of the river. A "natural jacuzzi " in the river adjacent to the campsite is a great way to take a quick dip. The water is pristine . Campers can shower (hot) in the outdoor cedar shower on the Deck. Towels, soap and shampoo are provided. The old coke machine on the deck serves as an extra large cooler as needed. Cook over wood in the fireplace at the campsite or use the gas grill on the deck. A wood fire will be all ready for you when you arrive. All you need to do is light it . You may burn as much wood as you care to. The deck and bridge and waterfalls can all be lit up at the flick of a few switches at night. There are flashlights in the screen house for your use. There is also a hanging light that can be turned on/ off from the bed. The mill is left unlocked at night when guests are on the property. You can come in and check your Email Or use the bathroom anytime. Note that there is no prison. The name is historical. There is wireless internet on the deck and around the property too. In terms of total number of people in your group- I'm willing to consider anything. It's all about having fun after all . This site is not really suitable for children or dogs. Guest AccessYou can park right along the stone walls near the campsite. There is an old logging road across the road that leads to some beautiful high meadows and into the Hogback Mountains. Guests are welcome in the great room in the mill . Someone will always be available- day or night, to assist with any need you might have. Interaction with GuestsAs little or as much as you'd like.I'd say happily and readily available,otherwise we typically go about our own affairs. Come in and explore the Millhouse. The NeighborhoodThis is a Very quiet and peaceful rural area . Great restaurants and bakeries are 15 minutes away. National Forest/LongTrail access minutes away. 2 general stores in nearby villages are 10 minutes away-deli, hot prepared food, pizza, groceries. Getting AroundThere is bus service that connects the various villages and towns including to/ from Burlington where you can make connections. Having an automobile , while not absolutely necessary , is very convenient . biking is a great way to get around locally. Other Things to NoteCamping open May through October. The SpaceOur space is off of the Main Road in Stamford, VT. Stamford is the last town in Vermont before crossing the border into Massachusetts. We are a 10 minute drive to North Adams, MA, home of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Mount Greylock. Our area has views of Florida Mountain and Mount Greylock, which is part of the Appalachian Trail. Stamford has its own local Country Club, where anyone is welcome to play golf, and a local driving range. We are 3-5 minutes from Clarksburg State Park and Natural Bridge State Park in Clarksburg, MA. If you are a skier/rider, you can hike the Thunderbolt on Mount Greylock (if conditions allow), or make the easy drive up to Mount Snow Resort, The Hermitage Club (both about 35 minutes north) or down to Jiminy Peak (40 minutes south) or Berkshire East (35 minutes south) Or, just stay in and enjoy the quiet town of Stamford, VT. Stamford is loved for its community, class, and natural beauty as well as its convenient location. The apartment has one bedroom, a living room, (which serves as additional sleeping space if required) a bathroom (linens included) and a kitchen with kitchenette equipped with your basic cooking and dining essentials. Free off-street parking is available for one car. Free wifi is also available. All bedding is included with your stay. Guest AccessGuests will have access to the entire apartment with its own entry. Other accommodations may be available upon request. Interaction with GuestsGuest interaction will typically occur once upon arrival, unless we are away. Guests can check themselves out by simply leaving the keys either under the mat at the door or on the table in the kitchen and letting us know via messenger that they are heading out. We try to interact with our guests, but, we too have busy lives! If we miss you, hopefully we will meet you next time! The NeighborhoodStamford, VT is a quiet but busy community. On any given day you will see many walkers, runners, and bikers out exercising. One always feels safe in this town. You rarely feel secluded. People are very friendly and always happy to give a helping hand. Getting AroundStamford does not have public transportation. We can answer any questions about local travel.

    The SpaceThe house is a very unique, special place! It has an arched ceiling in the living room, The kitchen was remodeled a few years ago with hickory cabinets, butcher block counter tops, and cherry trim. The rest was built in 6 sections, continually being added onto over the years. It has Cherry hardwood floors in the living room and entryway, natural slate in the kitchen, and wide pine in the bedrooms. The deck is huge! Its around 25' long and tapered to match the hill side, looking up at the fire-pit. The yard is .5 acres, with plenty of room to play with the dogs or have a picnic. There is also a 2 person hammock near the firepit. The NeighborhoodIts very remote, yet close enough to town. Its located on a dead end dirt road. The neighbors are all classic Vermonters, and great people.     The SpaceThis is a custom post and beam home. Most of the lumber was harvested directly from the property, milled locally and then used to build this spectacular structure. It was hand built by the owner and contains all essential amenities for a vacation home including radiant heat, 65" flat screen TV, washer/dryer, finished game room, bar, etc. It is located on the edge of the Green Mountain National forest with spectacular mountain views and direct access to tens of thousands of acres of mountain wilderness for skiing, hiking, fishing, snow shoeing, mountain biking or simply relaxing. Minutes from Sugarbush and Mad River Glen ski areas. Guest AccessThis is our 2nd home so guests have complete access to the house. Interaction with GuestsWe are available via phone or text, we live 30 minutes away if we need to show up for any reason. The NeighborhoodVery private, mountain setting.     The SpaceTimber frame, wood floors and gorgeous scenery with plenty of walking trails invites you to slow down and reconnect to nature. An active beaver pond in the north east corner of the farm is a wonderful place to sit and paint or write or simply catch your breath. If you have interest in learning the ways of a working farm there are opportunities to learn how to use some tools and enjoy learning from the animals. A repeated comment is, the farm is naturally healing and invites restoration and relaxation. Your host, Kerry Kurt, has been running the farm since 2008, and welcomes you. Guest AccessGuest access is provided to the 1st floor of the renovated 1789 home, licensed catering kitchen, deck, private bath, dining and living area. Take a self-guided walking tour on the horse property section, or a longer hike on the 286 acres of trails through woodland and open pasture.
