Innkeepers Mona and Lee knew immediately what the name of their inn should be. Inspired by the spectacular, panoramic views of the Berkshire Mountains, the inn was aptly named "Berkshire Mountain House". The inn is a romantic, contemporary bed and breakfast with broad decks and walls of glass, which take advantage of the views. It is situated high on a hill surrounded by 50 acres of rolling meadows and forest with walking trails and a spring fed pond. (Clean, great breakfasts beautiful views-Julie Geisler) (Thank you for your hospitality & amazing breakfasts - Paul Elkind) ( What a great place, warm welcoming, comfortable - Myers Family)

The SpaceThe house sits in the middle of a 40 acre plot of land in the foothills of the Taconic Mountain range in New York. A little over half of the property is gorgeous woodland and the rest is an open, sloping field, affording fantastic views of The Berkshires and Pittsfield State Forest. Up a long driveway, the house is totally hidden and secluded from the street and neighbors (although in the winter, when the branches are bare, you can just make out one of the neighbors house's through the trees). The woods behind the house are filled with rushing streams, huge 100+ year-old trees and are great for hiking. And apart from it's spectacular views, the front field is great for playing (in summer), sledding (in winter) or just relaxing on some lawn chairs and taking it all in (year round). Guest AccessThe house itself is adorable. It was built in 1994 and is in great shape. It has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and a living room / dining room that is surrounded by windows. The downstairs master bedroom itself is big enough for a whole family (with some kids on sleeping bags). There is also a little nook at the top of the stairs that fits our queen-sized blow-up mattress perfectly. So, at times, when we have had relatives or guests, we've had 4 adults, 4 kids and one grandmother all very comfortably sleeping under one roof (we have had more guests on a number of occasions, but after 10 people it starts to get tight). The NeighborhoodFroggy Pond is a little over three hours from New York City. A perfect drive up the Taconic Parkway. The closest attraction is Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort only 10 minutes away. During the winter you can actually see the peak of Jiminy Peak from the house. It is a great ski resort during the winter and loads of fun during the summer, with rides and hikes and fun for the whole family. We are also only 10 minutes from Cherry Plains State Park, which has an amazing lake, beach, hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. We are also a short ride from the heart of the Berkshires. We are less than 20 minutes away from Tanglewood, less than 20 from Williamstown. 25 to MassMoca, 30 to Jacob’s Pillow. The Berkshire Museum, The Norman Rockwell, The Clark, Mount Greylock, Hancock Shaker Village, etc. etc.. Other Things to NoteOne of our favorite features of our land is Froggy Pond. It is a huge (over 100 feet wide), concrete-bottomed swimming pond that is stream fed (which means that the water is always flowing and doesn't get stagnant). At one side it is quite shallow (good for the kids) while the other end slopes down to over 15 feet deep. The pond is surrounded by daylilies and a grassy area where you can sun bathe. Froggy Pond gets its name because there are often little tadpoles and frogs swimming along with you. Very cute. Another interesting addition to the property (which is on stilts next to the pond) is a rustic, unfinished, 20x40 glass enclosed studio. It has no running water, but it does have electricity. In the past it has been used as a rehearsal studio, a yoga retreat, an artists' space and a cabin for camping. You definitely can't live in there (because it is unfinished), but it is fun for hanging out.

The SpaceThis is a cozy cottage that comfortably sleeps six people. The picture window looks out over the valley and the meadows of our 120-acre property. The galley kitchen has settings for 6, electric range, microwave & toaster oven. The swing seat in the living room is sturdy enough for 3 adults. There's baseboard heat in each room, and a glass-front woodstove in the main space. The second floor has its own couch and chairs on a balcony overlooking the main room, plus a convertible sofa for extra guests. There are 1 and 1/2 baths and a washer/dryer. You can hike the woods of our 120-acre property; head up the mountain or across the meadows, with no sound but the crunch of snow underfoot. Guest AccessThe whole house is yours. You'll share the property with the other house (about 150' across the driveway), which has been rented to the same family of skiers in winter months for years. Interaction with GuestsWe may be there when you're there (you'll know before your stay is confirmed), but if not, we're easily reachable by e-mail & phone. The NeighborhoodNeighborhood?? We're only seven miles from Jiminy Peak, but our closest neighbor (a friend who helped build the house) is a half-mile away. The charm of the place is its rural beauty. The houses are on 120 acres of meadows and woods. While there's no grocery store in town, we do have a DD/Cumberland Farms franchise, a used bookstore, a farm stand (summer) , and a place that specializes in small-batch beer. Oh, and a minigolf course. We are 30 minutes from Williamstown and Great Barrington. Only 10 minutes from the Hancock Shaker Village and Jiminy Peak. Both Lanesborough and Pittsfield are each just a little farther away. Getting AroundThe nearest train station is in Albany. The bus station is in Pittsfield, MA. You'll need a car to get to the house. Other Things to NoteWe cannot accommodate weekend rentals in the winter months. Our preference is to rent for the season, but if you are interested in a month or a week, send a message and we'll gladly consider it.

A Russian word for country home, 'dacha' (rhymes with cha-cha) reflects the origins of the owner. It conjures images of relaxing days and evenings with family and friends far from the city's hectic life. Minutes drive from the ski lifts of Juminy Peak or hiking, boating and swimming at Cherry Plain State Park The emblem of the house is the painting of a moose family at lunch, a copy of the Russian masterpiece by Alexei Stepanov in the Tretyakov Collection in Moscow. This is an adorable 3 bedroom house on 38 secluded acres. It is located ten minutes from all the amenities of Jiminy Peak Ski Resort and less than a half an hour from all the Berkshire attractions. A perfect escape (with a private swim pond)! The house sits in the middle of a 38 acre plot of land in the foothills of the Taconic Mountain range in New York. Froggy Pond is a little over three hours from New York City. 25 to MassMoca, 30 to Jacob's Pillow. The Berkshire Museum, The Norman Rockwell, The Clark, Mount Greylock, Hancock Shaker Village, etc. etc.. The house itself is adorable. One of our favorite features of our land is Froggy Pond.

The Hannah Mott House is tailored to the tastes of the incurable romantic who seeks the charm of an early American rural home in an ideal setting. If plastic and prefab, clutter and congestion, noise and nuisance make your head turn, you'll love this enchanted hideaway. No "phony-colony" here: Imagine exquisitely hand-crafted period details inside and out, including a huge antique-brick Count Rumford fireplace in a living room with handhewn beam ceilings, plank floors, wide-board wainscoting, and burnished cherry corner cabinets. Although built new in the 1990s, the period details mimic those of a 1780's New England full cape, but with modern conveniences: three bedrooms (sleeps 6), two full baths (Jacuzzi tub and laundry). Floor to ceiling kitchen windows overlook the beaver pond and distant meadow.
