The SpaceYou have a lovely private upstairs two room guest suite with private balcony and access to the whole downstairs except the master suite and basement, but it is the setting that makes Whispering Winds a truly memorable place to stay. The serene acreage, cottage gardens, food gardens where you can pick whatever is in season from asparagus to blueberries and raspberries, fish a private stream, loll away the afternoon in a hammock, relax with a beer by the campfire, let the children play on the tire swing or around the "playground" tree. And you are safe in a picturesque small Minnesota town, akin to "Mayberry", appropriately named "Spring Valley - Hometown Minnesota". Guest AccessThe private guest space upstairs is approximately 700 sf, two rooms, 1/2 bath, and a balcony. Home share quarters include the open concept living room/kitchen with large screen TV, smoking lounge in the attached garage, outside grilling area with relaxing pergola beside the koi/golffish ponds. The 1-1/2 acre yard includes multiple seating areas, children's play areas, two gazebos, firepit (starters and wood $5 extra), gardens and stocked trout stream. Minnesota fishing license with trout stamp required to fish. Interaction with GuestsAs a disabled grandmother, I live here and am home most of the time. Surrounded on three sides by woods, bordered by a trout stream it has abundant wildlife including many song birds, wild turkeys, we have a nesting pair of Bald Eagles nearby that occasionally soar overhead and whitetail deer that cross the yard.
Adjacent to Spring Creek Park there is an 8 mile paved biking/walking trail. I have bicycles for guests' use. The city gazebo occasionally hosts outdoor concerts and the music can be heard here.
There are 4 parks within walking distance including a city water park. Getting AroundSpring Valley is located only 22 miles from the Rochester (home of Mayo Clinic and IBM) city limits. Rochester City Lines have buses going to and from Rochester daily.
Spring Valley itself is the largest town in Fillmore County with 2,500 souls in a county of 18,000. Everything in town is within walking/bicycling distance. There are a number of good places to eat out and two butcher shops to make your grilling memorable.
There is ample off-street parking at Whispering Winds. Other Things to NoteAs a former licensed substitute teach and Master Gardener, I am fully background checked.
