The SpaceWEEKLY MINIMUM. My property is the place for you to have large group gatherings. Anniversary, Birthday, Family Reunion, Yoga, Artist Retreat. The 3 inch thick 16 foot table hosts the entire group for all out Shore Dinners! The cottage is full of unique art works. I collect when I can afford it and I create art from fabricated and found power objects which hold memories and create new meaning. NOTE: I am interested in trading my property in June and September. The weather is still fabulous and the tourists are not there. My usual fee for those months is $2,000 a week. What could you contribute? If you are interested in trading with me and your property is worth less- leave a fabulous art work behind! I would like to visit all places hot in December, February and march. I am an online professor so my schedule can be maneuvered-as long as I have wireless. I am quiet as a mouse. I just want to get away from the cold and read, write and make art. Guest AccessThe cottage is complete with everything which is there when I am. This includes an extensive book and video library, dozens of spices in the gourmet kitchen and every board game ever made. All I remove is my clothes. Interaction with GuestsI am only in residence at the cottage for part of June and July. When the cottage is rented... I live in 'the Nest" a studio apartment over the garage. I love to visit with my guests but can be invisible if that is what you would prefer. The NeighborhoodThe tiny (50 people) community is very close and when you are in my cottage... you will be welcomed as I am. I am a Maine native and have lived there for 30 years. You can walk and ride your bikes and will chat along our many formal and informal walking paths. We have a community center with bean suppa's and talent shows and 200 year old church and a library! Getting AroundYou will need your own wheels in Sandy Point. Other Things to NoteNew in 2015 Barbara ran the Sandy Point Art School for 10 years. Her studio space is on the ground level and is available for your use. Paper, paints, crayons etc are available for your use. Especially on rainy days!! ART WORKSHOP Barbara has been an art teacher for 40 years. Barbara creates art from what she calls “power objects” oftentimes picked up on the beach and combined with other elegant materials to make a unique sculpture embedded with memories. She will encourage you to bring a special object you have found on the beach, antiquing or other adventures. Click here to see Barbara’s work: (URL HIDDEN) She is offering a sculpture art lesson. All Ages. $20 per person. Includes most materials. 9:00-1:00. Minimum of 6 students. SHOA' DINNA' prepared and served by native Mainers. Give your cooks the day off and enjoy an authentic lobster feed. Lobster, Clams, Corn, lemonade, chips and homemade blueberry pie with ice cream. All things fermented and fabulous… you bring yourself. You have the best view in the area. Why go out? $35.00 each. Minimum of 10 people. The best perk from this authentic Maine experience? We clean up!! Hike up Great Pond Mountain and visit Craig Pond Fish Hatchery My first trip to Great Pond was with my daughter’s nursery school class. YES! This is a kid friendly hike of about an hour which brings you above the tree line and delivers spectacular views. Not developed. Kind of a local secret…someone has to show you the trailhead!! If you stand on the Chateau Mer deck and look across the bay to the mainland, you will see Great Pond Mountain to the left. If you can see Great Pond, that means when you are on the top of Great Pond, you can see …well… the entire Penobscot Bay area! After we leave Great Pond we will drive about ¼ of a mile to the Craig Brook National Fish Hatchery where we will leave you in the knowledgable hands of the Fishery staff. You may also want to stay and have a picnic lunch. Gay Dion, at the Good Kettle, would be delighted to pack those for you and deliver them to the cottage before you leave! (URL HIDDEN)

The Davis Cottage is a charming 100 year old dwelling that nestles atop a 30 foot cliff overlooking the Penobscot Bay. It has its own steps down the cliff to the shore. and is located in the tiny village of Sandy Point, Maine. It is 40 to 45 minutes from Bar Harbor (and Acadia National Park) to the north, plus Camden (home of the tall ships schooner fleet) to the south. There are two levels to the house: the tower, and the main floor. The tower and main floor of the cottage have ocean views. It is centrally heated with 3 bedrooms and a comfortable futon couch in the living room (full sized). There is a full bath with claw footed tub, spacious shower, washer and dryer, plus a half bath attached to the master bedroom in the tower. The kitchen has a dishwasher, new stove/oven, refrigerator and microwave, plus a bagel toaster and coffee pot. There is high speed internet but no cable television. The central part of the cottage is the original building, built as an 8 sided tower with the living room as the base of the tower and the master bedroom at its top. The tower itself was built in the early 1900’s while the dining room, kitchen and bedrooms were added as time went by. Because of their unique shape, the cottage, and the 8 sided tower built to the south were called The Birdcages. The tower to the south fell into disrepair and the tower to the north, which became The Davis Cottage, eventually lost its distinctive shape with the addition of several rooms. The foundation of the south tower is still visible as a charming rock garden viewed out the south window of the dining room. The Davis family bought the cottage in the 70’s but have been visiting Sandy Point since the early 1900’s when another family cottage in north Sandy Point was purchased. Eventually, a total of 4 cottages were all filled with family. You will also find a charming old fireplace for a cozy fire if the evening turns chilly. Lots of firewood provided. The cottage comfortably sleeps 6 in beds. (The futon couch in the living room can sleep 2 more, if needed..) It is completely furnished with knotty pine and wooden floors throughout the main floor. The cottage windows are screened and open easily. There are cordless phones with free long distance nation-wide and free internet access. Throughout the cottage should be everything you need for a comfortable stay. Just be “nosy” and open every cabinet and drawer. You’ll find everything from band aids and bug spray to spices and zip lock bags…not to mention beach towels, toilet paper galore and lots of paper towels. Bedroom #1 The Master Bedroom Stairs from the kitchen lead up to a small private landing that contains a ½ bath, small walk-in closet, a writing desk and doorway to the master bedroom. The master bedroom is the top of the original 8 sided tower and is approximately 14 feet round. It has a comfortable queen sized bed, a dresser, a recliner for reading, plus a panoramic view of the bay. There is a door for privacy. Bedroom #2 The Guestroom by the Kitchen The second bedroom is just off the kitchen and contains an exceptionally comfortable queen sized bed, a small dresser, closet and recliner. The bedroom has two windows overlooking the westernmost woods and is just a short walk across the kitchen to the main bathroom. It is 8 x 14 feet. This bedroom also has a door for privacy. Bedroom #3 The third bedroom extends off the living room and is the north wing of the cottage. It has French doors that open to the outside patio and a full view of sunrise over the bay. There are two twin beds covered with quilts, that can also be converted into a king sized bed. The room also has a large dresser, wall hooks for clothes and a writing desk containing a few art supplies. Privacy can be obtained by drawing green curtains that completely shield the bedroom from the living room. Those using this room will walk through the living room, dining room and kitchen to reach the master bath. This room is also 8 x 14 feet. It is hoped that the lack of a real door is off-set by the spectacular bedside sunrise view out the patio doors. Hiking, biking, kayaking, schooner rides, fishing, lobster boat rides, whale watching, swimming, horseback riding, golf, tennis, lighthouse tours, kite flying, historic tours and homes, galleries, and antiques are all nearby. The property itself is abutted by a 103 acre oceanfront state park. (An easy hiking trail is just 4 light poles north of the tiny house across the road). Sandy Point Public beach is a minute (.3 mile) down the road at the four-way stop. Indulge in blueberry picking, strawberry picking, lobster and clam bakes, fine dining, a tour of Revolutionary Fort Knox, or a trip up to the very top of the new (and astonishing) Penobscot Narrows Bridge. Don’t miss the Searsport Maritime Museum plus the shops and unique architecture of Belfast. There is always a festival, art show, free lecture, or local theater to attend. Also, if it happens to rain, the cottage is full of books and games to play. Enjoy! The Davis family is delighted to share their cottage with you and hope you have a wonderful stay. To contact the owner call Gail Davis Gannon at 321-576-5886 or email.
