Ladder stairs go up to a single bedroom and ensuite bathroom. This bedroom is in the eaves and has less head height. Our daughter's Banksy paintings and photos make this room full of character and it's quiet and away from the action with a very comfortable single bed. The bathroom has a freestanding bath, basin and loo and is accessed under or over a beam!
To the front of the house is a pretty walled formal garden which gets lots of sun in the afternoon. At one end is The Little House, a converted 2 bedroom barn which may also be available for rent.
The Bourne River runs alongside the road with a footbridge and car bridge giving access to the house and parking area. The Bourne is a really pretty little river which usually flows from February to July.
To the back of the house is a terrace and lawned garden leading onto a small field with a trampoline and football goal. There is a footpath through the field with direct access to beautiful walks.
The views from the kitchen and garden are lovely with barely a house in site despite being in the middle of a village. The village itself is small and friendly with a pub behind and both neighbouring villages have village shops and post offices with lots of local pubs dotted along the valley. There are also several Michelin starred restaurants a short (25 minute) drive away.
The White House is situated in the pretty Bourne Valley hamlet of Stoke, in rural North Hampshire. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and walks yet is within 20 minutes of the M4, M3, the historical sites of Stonehenge, Avebury Rings, Danebury Rings, and cities and towns such as Winchester, Marlborough, Hungerford and Newbury. For dog lovers and walkers there are many trails and footpaths in close proximity such as the Test Way and Watership Down. The area is also a cyclists paradise. For children, TreeRunners is 10 minutes away as is Finkley Down Farm; Intech Science Museum in Winchester is 20 minutes away, and half an hour away in Basingstoke there is the Aquadrome, bowling, cinemas and Airkix, the indoor skydiving tunnel. Guest AccessThe house, garden and adjoining field. There is a trampoline and football goal in the field and table football on the terrace. Hurdles, badminton and croquet are also available and please do ask if you need something in particular as we will probably have it. Interaction with GuestsWe will usually be based in the Little House when you are staying though are unlikely to see you except when you arrive and leave. We are always at the end of a phone for any queries. The NeighborhoodWe live in a small friendly village with links to the two surrounding villages where there are churches and village shops. Being in a valley, there are beautiful walks up to the ridges with amazing views. It is a quiet peaceful village with no street lights and very little noise. Getting AroundThere is an irregular local Cango bus or local taxis. The nearest stations are Whitchurch and Andover which go to Waterloo in just over an hour, and Newbury station (Paddington) is 15/20 minutes away. Other Things to NoteWe have good broadband with Cat 6 wiring, and reasonable WiFi for the age and location of house. Mobile network is patchy. We have Vodafone and have to go out to the field to get it! Other networks may be better.
All bed linen, towels, loo paper and kitchen washing up stuff included.
