The SpaceMeticulously restored 200 year old farmhouse with the look and feel of a true old New England home. You will arrive on a winding private drive through the woods and come upon lush gardens, fields and lawns surrounding this hidden estate. The guest bedroom is upstairs with its own staircase. The bedroom has its own small 1/2 bath (toilet and sink), desk, and even a refrigerator. The shower and bathtub are downstairs. Guests tell us that the double bed with a 3" memory foam mattress is deliciously comfortable ( but it is only a double). Sometimes you will even find our cat sleeping there. If you are over 6ft tall you will find the ceiling in the bedroom low - it is an historic house and an antique bed. (We do have an additional room with a single bed available upon request for $45/night if prospective guests need 2 rooms - just ask about it, we don't list it on a regular basis.) High speed wireless internet throughout the house as well as very good cell service. The walk in shower with hand made tiles and separate claw foot tub are in the downstairs bathroom and available for your use as needed. The house is situated on 13 acres next to the Stowe Mtn. Resort ski area - we actually are adjoining landowners and our property also borders on 1,000's of acres of state land with waterfalls, mountain bike, hiking and XC skiing trails out the back door. We have a simple lifestyle with 2 friendly cats(inside/outside), chickens, and extensive gardens - both vegetable and flower - your hostess is a master gardener with the state of Vermont. Our home is right next to all the amenities a resort town can offer, but is completely hidden from the road. Within walking distance is a great wood fired pizza/ sushi bar and grill (The Matterhorn), a small store, and the bike path starts 1/2 mile down the road. We even have bikes for our guests to use in the summer. It is an old fashioned house filled with country antiques, steep staircases, and creaky floors. We provide breakfast-homemade granola or more- if you wish. If you get lucky you may hit us when we are having waffles with our own fresh picked raspberries or blueberries! We are both skiers and your host runs the XC center at the mountain in the winter. You can ski home to our house from the mountain if you enjoy back country skiing. The paneled living room , (with a wood stove in the winter), is available for your use. In the summer we have picnic tables and a place to barbecue outside in the gardens. Our house was recently featured in magazine!! Here is the link: (URL HIDDEN) Guest AccessGuests have access to our wood paneled living room. Very limited use of the kitchen and only with prior arrangement. We hope you will enjoy the gardens with an assortment of outdoor furniture in the summer. We do have a barbecue grill available for guests along with picnic supplies. Your bedroom is in a private area of the house accessed by your own set of stairs- which opens onto the back garden in the summer. In the winter, due to snow, the access is through the kitchen. Interaction with GuestsWe are around to answer questions and provide breakfast. We work from home in our home office and do a lot of gardening and woodworking so we are often around - but not in your way. The NeighborhoodWe live next to 1,000's of acres of state forest and preserved land. We are across the street from a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. We have gardens, walking paths and wilderness right in our backyard! Getting AroundMake sure you print out the itinerary page to help you find our house in the woods. GPS alone won't find it.We have bikes available for your use - bring your own helmets. Plenty of parking. Other Things to NoteWe have a small general store across the street and a restaurant and bar next door that serves food and drinks and is quite popular.

The SpaceThe Annex Building dates back to the mid-nineteenth century during the first big building boom in Stowe. You will have no problem locating the four white pillars which distinguish the “Annex” façade from other buildings in the village as you come in on—from both the West and the East—scenic VT Route 100. The exposed wood beams inside create a warm and inviting space for guests who want access to the Vermont landscape as well as the quintessential village life. Our newly-renovated two-bedroom and two full-bath condo is ideal for the getaway couple, a family of four to six, or two couples who can each have their own floor. The gathering place is on the second floor where you can prepare meals using local ingredients from a farmer’s market in a fully-equipped kitchen in view of your traveling companions reveling in the day’s adventure around an antique tavern table. The original deck allows you to overlook Main Street under a blanket of snow or in northern hardwood autumn colors. Retreating upstairs with a cup of hot cocoa and a good book in hand is a natural end to the day or it might be searching the internet on a sturdy arts and crafts style desk while looking through a round top window at a towering stand of evergreen. The condo won’t be overloaded with gear because the walkout basement has plenty of room to store your bikes, skis, or canoe. This description of the Annex Building gives you an idea of perhaps how unique this space is nestled away in the village of Stowe but it still doesn’t give you an idea of what Vermont is about. Vermont is more than the Long Trail, Stowe Ski Area, and maple syrup. It is a working landscape bordered by Lake Champlain, the Connecticut River Valley, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec and powered by gritty, independent, thrifty, and undeniably likable locals. Guest AccessIf you follow the West Branch River from the village center to its source you will see why Stowe has become one of the premier outdoor recreational destinations in New England. For our money, it's simply the best. From cross-country skiing on the Catamount Trail to mountain biking Adams Camp to skiing the Front Four. Interaction with GuestsWhat Eric learned from being an innkeeper on Martha’s Vineyard is that travelers most fondly remember trips where they connected to people and place. All you need is a sense of adventure, a little bit of local knowledge, and plenty of room to explore with family and friends. This is the philosophy behind the Annex which has many of the personalized aspects of an inn without being an inn. It is our hope that with the contents of this webpage, as many informative phone discussions or e-mail chats as necessary, and a personal welcome at the beginning of your stay you will have the basis for that memorable trip. We would like nothing better than for you to genuinely enjoy your stay and experience firsthand what makes Vermont so special. The NeighborhoodThe distinct advantage of being in the village is that you won’t need to get in the car for every little thing you need. In fact, you may not need to get in your car at all which is fairly unique in rural America. You can pick up the morning paper, visit the post office, go to the hardware store, buy a gift for your significant other, and have all three meals within walking distance of your vacation rental. Other Things to NoteIn a weeklong vacation it is advisable you get out of town and see the real Vermont. If you go east you will hit Morrisville where you must hit Bees Knees either for breakfast or dinner and some local entertainment. From Morrisville you are already a third the way to Craftsbury Outdoor Center or Jay Peak. The Burke Trails are definitely a destination for any mountain bike rider. Go under the highway and continue east and you should hit Mad River Valley. That is if you are a skier (snowboarders are not allowed). American Flatbread on weekends is a must where you will wait nearly an hour to be seated but not care in the slightest because you will be drinking Lawsons and chatting it up with strangers around a campfire. The longer the wait the better. On the way back to Stowe via Waterbury I usually stop for one more at Prohibition Pig or the Reservoir. To the North is the biggest city in Vermont, Burlington. Most of the action is off of Church Street where you will find Vermont landmarks next door to national retail chains. I have nothing against big retail but why not see and experience something different and walk into Crow Bookshop instead of Borders, The Outdoor Gear Exchange instead of Olympia, Vietnamese coffee at Sapa instead of Starbucks, Bennington Potters instead of Pottery Barn, and Stone Soup instead of Panera Bread. If the weather is nice you must check out a show on the waterfront or bike along the Lake Champlain Bikeway. One of the first things people notice when visiting Vermont for the first time is the lack of billboards lining the highways. Its takes some getting used to and so does the lack of fast food restaurants in the State’s capital. You may be inclined to buy a lunch at the Hunger Moutain Coop, one of the first member-owned market cooperatives in the country. Take a stroll behind the capitol building and into Hubbard Park amongst huge red oaks up to a stone tower (great place for a picnic) that gives you an amazing view of the environs. Hike back into town and take a drive on Route 12 towards Lake Elmore in search of a moose in early evening. Drive slowly back to Stowe.

As soon as you duck through the small entrance door you will see you are in a special, handcrafted space. It is very private and quiet even though you are just 50 yards from Stowe Village. We recently refinished the living room space with a very comfortable Italian design sofa, two cushy chairs and a great big red coffee table/ footstool. Great for relaxing after a big day in the Mountains. The two cozy bedrooms have high quality full size beds (one serta matress the other a tempur-pedic with a feather bed topper). One bedroom is 8 x 10 and has a closet. The other has 8 x 10 feet with a full ceiling then another 4 feet with a sloping ceiling. That where is where the bed is located. The sofa in the living room easily pulls out to form a 3rd bed. The bathroom is compact. Just installed a new shower head in the shower stall. It gives great pressure. Tall men will find sitting is the preferred method when using the toilet. The ceiling slopes. The kitchen has 2 under counter fridges. , an apartment size gas stove , microwave, toaster and a french press coffee maker and I will try to supply you with some coffee. The kitchen counter creates a nice space for many activities. There is also good coffee available across the parking lot at the mobil and around the corner at Laughing Moon chocolates (they make espresso) A new super efficient & quiet Rinnai heater keeps the apartment cozy in the winter. The air conditioner - if ever needed - cools just as efficiently and silently. The apartment is walking distance to all the restaurants, stores and markets in Stowe village. This includes the town welcome center ski museum and the entrance to the Stowe recreation path. Speaking of that there is a great little deck to enjoy morning coffees. Guest AccessThe apt. is completely private located above our small store. There is access to storage for skis outside and you can walk down our private access to the river where we have created a beautiful oasis - a perfect place to relax and read or nap while the river rolls by. Interaction with GuestsI live nearby and work right up the road so I am readily available to help with any guest needs. The NeighborhoodStowe is a great town. Friendly locals will greet you at every turn as you explore our Mountains, Skiing(both downhill and cross country), Mountain Biking, World Class Dining and Shopping. Easy access to all of Vermont's best Brewery's (Hill farmstead, Alchemist, Lawsons Lost Nation, Rock Art, Magic Hat and Crop are all less then an hour away!), Ben And Jerry's Ice Cream, Cabot Cheese, The Cider Mill and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters all await. Getting AroundIn the winter the shuttle that goes up and down the road is conveniently located right outside our front door. This will take you anywhere you need to go in Stowe. In the summer and fall I have some nice townie cruiser bikes available for guests to ride the bike path or cruise to the coffee shop. We have room for one car to park and if neccessary a second car can park in public parking nearby. Transportation from airport can be arranged easily with local cab company. Other Things to NoteGrowing up in this area I know Stowe really well and am happy to act as a concierge for anything you need from dinning, to beer tours or guided skiing, mt. biking or hiking. Just let me know what your into and I can set things up for you. Also, this is a funky old vermont house so be prepared uneven floors and some little quirks. We just installed a new water heater but it is very small so shorter showers are needed for larger groups.

The village has over forty restaurants of every variety and price point. Activities range from skiing, snowshoeing, dogsledding, snowmobiling, and skating in the winter, to hiking, biking (road and mountain), fishing, canoeing, and shopping in the summer months. Nowhere else is fall foliage more spectacular than in Vermont's northern Green Mountains, and Stowe is in the middle of it all. In the winter there is a free shuttle bus that stops in front of the inn that guests can use to access almost all of the town. Though we don't accept pets, you should plan on enjoying ours: Jimmy Jazz the cat and Max the dog. Getting AroundStowe offers a free shuttle bus during the winter that travels right by the Auberge and through the village on its way up to the ski slopes of Mt. Mansfield.
