The SpaceThis sweet rustic 24' yurt is nestled in the trees, near a year-round stream. With a queen sized loft with overhead view for sleeping, there is room for more mattresses. Water comes from the main house nearby, there is an outhouse or you can use the house bathroom, woodstove, camping type kitchen, living room. Off-grid, non-electric. Guest Accessrunning water at the house, including shower. there are kayaks (with instructor tips) for rent, and cross country skis. trails, creek, hikes, cross country skiing, small lake nearby. internet at the house. no cell service here, but there is a yurt phone. Interaction with Guestshowever much interaction you would like, but certainly enough to explain the systems. The NeighborhoodWe are in the country, with a creek and hills to explore. Getting Aroundno, there could be carpooling Other Things to NoteIn the winter, it is like winter camping, with amenities. Bring your sleeping bags or let me know if you need some, we don't use the yurt-owner's bedding.

The SpaceThe 20' yurt is available mid-June to mid- August The NeighborhoodWe have 2 yurts on the land, the green one at the creek can be rented in the summer. The yurts share a bathroom and outhouse with the main house and campers at the tent platforms. It is great fun when everyone comes together at the firepit for a meal and chatting. Getting AroundNo. You need your own transportation.

The SpaceThe spacious second floor loft style apartment is in the annex of an early 19th century general store. The apartment occupies what was originally the attic of the carriage shed. The Strafford Historical Society is located in space below. The building sits at the foot of the Green, facing a pretty church and handsome 19th century residences. The Ompompanousac River wends through the fields behind the buiding. Guest AccessGuests have exclusive use of the apartment. Interaction with GuestsWe live in Alexandria Virginia, but often use the other upstairs apartment. We have friends who live in town who maintain the property. We and they are available by phone or email. They can provide on site assistance. The NeighborhoodThe spacious second floor loft style apartment is in the annex of an early 19th century general store. The apartment occupies what was originally the attic of the carriage shed. The Strafford Historical Society is located in space below. The village post office is on the first floor of the main building. The village of Strafford is cluster of handsome 19th century residences which ring the village Green. The Town Meetinghouse sits on hill overlooking the Green. The building sits at the foot of the Green, facing a pretty church and handsome 19th century residences. The Ompompanousac River wends through the fields behind the building. Getting AroundYou will need a car to get to Strafford and you should expect to drive a half an hour to get to almost anywhere outside the two villages. The good news is that all the drives are scenic. Other Things to NoteThere is no cellphone service in Strafford. I drive to the top of Sharon Hill on Route 132 to check mine.

The Strafford Historical Society occupies the first floor of the Annex and the Strafford branch of USPS is on the first floor of the main building. The Strafford Brick Store sits at the base of the Green, which is surrounded by handsome 19th century residences. The Strafford Town Meeting House sits on a hill at the other end of the Green. Stone Soup Restaurant, is two doors away. The Senator Justin Morrill State Historic Site is five houses away in the opposite direction. Outside the village center, but close by, are Strafford Nordic Skiing Center, Tamarack Hill and Huntington Farms, three day event equestrian centers. The village of Strafford is 18 miles from Dartmouth College in Hanover NH, 14 miles from Vermont Law School in South Royalton, Vermont, 14 miles from King Arthur Flour in Norwich Vermont, 18 miles from two family friendly ski areas, Dartmouth Skiways in Lyme, NH and Suicide Six in Pomfret, Vermont. Killington is 40 miles away. There are miles of beautiful backroads to explore. Maps of favorite local walks are available.

You’ll love its log cabin feel and coziness of the Canadian quartz fireplace with high wood beamed ceilings, ever changing views, birds and wildlife, soaking in the spring fed pond, the stars at night. Our Chalet is great for couples, solo adventurers, outdoor enthusiasts, and families (with kids).
