The LIVING ROOM's plush sofa and rattan furniture plumped with sumptuous down cushions and cozy throws create flexible groupings for pleasant conversation and quiet entertainment. Vintage bridge lamps and sconces provide bright reading light, while a glass-topped coffee table is perfect for Scrabble or another of the classic board games we provide along with a selection of guidebooks, magazines, CD's and videos. The TV/DVD can be viewed from almost anywhere in the cottage. Sheer drapes drawn between living and dining rooms create intimate spaces or privacy for guests using the sleeper sofa. The LAKEFRONT DINING ROOM radiates light from two picture windows set in sunny yellow walls. Fireplace flames, mirrored arches and a shimmering Italian chandelier add to the lake's sparkle. An antique table seats six; vintage pastel Lu-Ray dinnerware, floral Bavarian serving pieces, reproduction "French ivory" cutlery, and crystal wine and champagne glasses set a sophisticated and romantic table. Two rocking chairs are ideal for bird watching. A deck spanning the front of the cottage is furnished for warm weather al fresco dining, with a patio heater extending the season. The highlight of the FULLY-EQUIPPED EAT-IN KITCHEN, charmingly fitted with new and vintage elements, is its aqua 1950's electric range with double ovens, which inspired "boomerang" Formica surfaces. A double-basin, skirted farmhouse sink is deep enough for a lobster pot. Display shelving offers easy storage above enameled cupboards. A dishwasher makes wash-up a breeze. The refrigerator is equipped with ice maker; a cooler of local spring water supplements the drilled well. A stainless-steel gas grill is steps away outside the entrance. The kitchen is well-equipped with sharp knives, stainless pots, cast-iron skillets, handy gadgets, microwave, 4-slice toaster, blender, rice cooker. A breakfast counter has vintage metal stools, freshly powder-coated in ice-cream enamels. An intimate ambiance unusual in a kitchen is created with pendant task-lights on dimmers and soft strip-lighting behind the crown molding of the low, exposed-beam ceiling. Above a pine table with press-backed oak chairs, festive baubles animate a tole chandelier. It is hard to say which is the focal point of the ROMANTIC LAKEFRONT MASTER BEDROOM - the spectacular views or the Adirondack fantasy bed. White birch trees form a canopy of branches shimmering with tiny white lights above the queen-size bed. Windows spanning three walls flood the room with light. A view-reflecting mirror, French door and sky- blue ceiling add to the feeling of being outdoors in this serene, luxuriously comfortable bedroom. Rattan chairs share panoramic views with a window seat built from an antique chest. Vintage glass feathers and flowers on a mahogany dresser continue the glittering theme of the beautifully illuminated room. Bedside tables, halogen reading lights, lamps, ceiling fan, and plush woolly white rugs complete the furnishings. A walk-in cedar closet accommodates hanging clothes for both bedroom and sleeping loft. Antique porch posts support the LAKE VIEW SLEEPING LOFT, suitable for adults or older children. Reached by a sturdy library ladder, with a curtained privacy railing (please note the railing is not structurally supportive and must not be leaned against), the cozy loft has a queen bed set against a rustic log wall, antique bedside dressers and reading lights flanking a window with whimsical pediment. The SpaceThis is a unique off the grid, Adirondack Cabin, made out of local Rough cut lumber cut by loggers and sawn by Amish craftsman. My brother and I built the cabin. There is a propane stove, refrigerator and hard connected lamps (2). The outhouse is conveniently located off the back of the cabin. There are 2 wood burning stoves. One on the back deck for three season heating and another inside, to keep you cozy at night. There is a propane heater that can be lit to come on when the fire goes out, so you don't have to get up in the middle of the night to stoke the fire. I've cut plenty of fire wood for you to use on the stoves. There is a unique deck system; the back deck is covered for outdoor/out of the weather experience, this wraps around to the front where a glass sliding door lets you into the cabin by the kitchen. The wrap around deck is covered by the second story deck, which comes off the open bed area upstairs. There is a third story deck for wildlife observation, Bird watching and star gazing. The views are nice from up there. The cabin is outfitted with solar power (please turn the power off during the day to let the batteries charge, when your out hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking or whatever) that powers a TV; satellite dish programming, internet connectivity, wireless access and lights. With all that you really don't miss a lot of the amenities. My son loves to get on line and play video games at night. The shining star of the Adirondack experience is the outdoors. I have a great fire pit for you and friends to build a large bon fire, listen to the wildlife (Owls, Coyotes, fishers have all been heard at night in the distance), star gaze and spot satellites, and enjoy each others company with some adult beverages. I have plenty of fire wood next to the pit for you to burn this year. I can't promise that in the future, but this year there is plenty. The 212+/- acres is exquisite, when I'm out there in the woods I feel closer to the life force of the universe. Down the hill from the camp is an excellent trout fishing stream, known as Millbrook. There is an excellent swimming hole just off the corner of the property, known as slanted rock. Out about a half mile from Slanted Rock, upstream, is the high falls. Its easier to get to high falls by taking the logging trail on the left when facing east when your at the cabin, walking along the highland and turning north when you see the state land signs. The logging trail continues from there to go to the northeast corner of the property. Diverging north at any point after seeing the state land sign will funnel you to the high falls, you can't miss the sound. Going down the middle road, which we call the meadow road, a few hundred feet and you hit the meadow. The logging road continues for some distance here and takes you to the southeast corner of the property. To east and then south from here, out on the state land, is a high promontory that points south out toward dairy hill. The views are pretty cool in that direction. Be careful there are some steep drop offs here. I have heard rumors that there are Indian caves in this vicinity, but have never found them myself. The road to the right, when you are standing at the cabin heads off to hedgehog mountain, which you can see from the cabin and is the least used part of the property. That said, I have tree stands that you can use, four of them are setup now and I have five more that will be setup in time for the hunting season. Guest AccessYou can use all parts of the main cabin, the bon fire pit and the woods. Interaction with GuestsI have a caretaker, named Sal. I'll give you his phone number and if you need any help, he'll be available. There is also a cleaning lady that prepares the cabin and cleans up after its used. Her name is Vickie, her husband is Jamie. They may come up to say hello and offer some help. The NeighborhoodThis is part of the Adirondack Park, the Jerseyfield Wild Forest. There are thousands of acres of state land off the north and east sides of the property that go for miles. Essentially, the only neighbors that are there year round are a half mile down the road. Getting AroundThe cabin is 25 miles from Utica and Herkimer, both places offer a whole host of options for shopping. Closer, is a Stewarts shop in Poland, which has most of the items that you might have forgetten. That's 7 miles away south on route 8. About 4 or 5 miles away is the Ohio Tavern, A great place to have dinner or an adult beverage. Other Things to NoteThe driveway is the old part of Coonradt Road, that hasn't been maintained by the town in many years. Its a right of way, so the cabin is at a dead end of a dead end. I've recently knocked down the highspots on the driveway. However, there could be standing water depending upon the weather. The road is solid, so don't worry about getting stuck. Trucks, SUVs will have no problem with the driveway, however be careful and go slow if your in a car.

Built in the early 1900s, this handsome shingle style house -- with its long porch and unparalleled access to Lake Otsego, stands on a large piece of land with a tennis court and several additional rental cottages. It has been in the Howell family for many generations and is rented out just a few weeks each summer. The Wigwam is the perfect summer escape for a family or group of friends. While there is a lot to do in the surrounding area, you can easily spend all day enjoying what the Wigwam, itself, has to offer. Rise early and go canoeing, play a round robin on the tennis court, take a dip in the lake off the private dock, and read a book in the hammock. Then wash up in the outdoor shower, watch the sun set across the water from the covered porch, cook up a delicious dinner with local ingredients from the farmers’ market in the large modern kitchen, and relax by the fire before bed. Originally a farmhouse built by a French-American in the 18th century, the Wigwam was bought and renovated by Henry Lansing Wardwell in approximately 1882. Wardwell gave the Wigwam to one of his five daughters in the early 1920s. The Wigwam has been passed down through generations and is currently co-owned by four siblings and their families. Renovations have been continual, most recently in the kitchen, living room, and porte cochere in 2004. The large living room provides a working fireplace, comfortable seating areas, and a gaming table. The well-lit kitchen has two refrigerators, two dishwashers, two sinks, a double oven, an eating table, and a pantry with washer and dryer. A cozy library contains a fireplace and plenty of morning light. And the beautiful dining room has a bay window facing the lake and includes a long table at which the whole gang can sit and enjoy dinner after a busy day. Keywords: Lake Front House

I have several wildlife observation stands that you are welcome to use for photography or hunting. Six ladder stands and 3 hanging stands. While the cabin does not have running water, it offers an off the grid electrical system with internet connectivity, satellite TV, Propane stove and refrigerator. The RV type Commode is in an outhouse near the cabin, 10-15 feet off the back deck for convenience. There is a wood burning stove, propane barbecue, outdoor fireplace on the back deck and and a nice bon-fire pit. The property is situated with Millcreek running through the corner of the property, where there is a superb swimming hole. Nearby, within ten miles are all sorts of kayaking and boating on the Hinkely Reservoir and unbelievable tubing or fishing on the west canada creek. Truly a beautiful spot. Fauna on the property includes, Deer, Bear, Coyote, Ruffed Grouse, Turkey amongst all sorts of other wildlife. Hiking for miles upon miles available. The cabin is a two story barn style structure with a second story deck and a third story wildlife observation platform for bird watching and star gazing. When the moon is new, the stars at night are absolutely dazzling. I recall my father and I being at the cabin once during a meteor shower, and it was as if someone was streaking a brush with white paint across the sky. See my book about building the Cabin; "The Cabin Builders" for more tales from the Adirondacks.
