The SpaceIf you find the calendar is full for the time you wish to come, please check out our second listing for a private apartment with its own entrance. If you are cat lovers, welcome to our home! Guests who stay inside the main house must be special people. Maggie Mae, our Maine Coon cat, is a vital member of our family. We also have rescued a new bright young Calico named Pumpkin. She has a stubborn streak and is still learning many things. We promised our kitties that all house guests would simply love them! If you don't fall into that category, please check out our second listing for the separate apartment. As you enter the house, please do so quickly. Kitties are not allowed outside and Pumpkin is quick! The first room is a glorified mud room. Not to worry about shoes. We have a vacuum! In front of you is the library where you are welcome to read, watch TV or gather for fun. The next room will be the dining room. Our eat-in kitchen hours are from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm. The kitchen has a full refrigerator, electric stove and oven, microwave and Keurig coffee stand. You are welcome to store your personal groceries inside the refrigerator and use what you need in the kitchen cupboards. There is a dishwasher. Please pre-rinse your dishes before putting them inside the washer. We are animal lovers and cannot bear the cooking of live lobsters, etc. It makes us very sad. So, please enjoy those pleasures in our local restaurants to which we will gladly direct you! Please remember to turn the oven and stove top burners off when you are finished cooking. Some parts of our house date back to 1762, and we don't want to be the last owners! There is a screened-in porch off the kitchen. The cats are allowed there. The door to the outer porch is never to be opened. It is a wonderful place to have morning coffee or to have a meal. A game room is off the dining room. Lots of boards games, puzzles, cards and cribbage board is there for you to enjoy. A small sofa and a recliner invite you to snuggle down for a read. At this time, we are not able to offer Guests laundry service. From the dining room, please use the central staircase to go upstairs to your private room and bathroom. The back staircase is private. A white curtain at the top of the main staircase marks off the private area upstairs. At the top of the stairs, turn left. And walk down the short hallway. The SpaceFeels like Grannie house with kitchen/bath renovation. I bought the house in 2000 and opened it to more natural light. It's a cozy home. The guest room is spacious with a double bed and bathroom next to it. There is an additional room available. Small pet is fine. Guests are welcome to use the kitchen and refrigerator for storage or ice. Coffee, tea, milk and cereal available in AM. The driveway can accommodate 4 vehicles. Guests are welcome to use the 2 bikes available in shed. House has recycle box and a compost container. Has great big horse chestnut out front with home made swing. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to use kitchen and shelf space in the refrigerator. The kitchen is sunny with 2 windows looking out back to field. There is an electric range and a plug in kettle for hot water. A woodstove is in kitchen and guests with experience are welcome to use. Makes for a cozy atmosphere. The bathroom is compact with a shower and tub located right next to guest room. The main entrance to house is in the front close to parking. Because guest room is upstairs the house is not wheelchair accessible. I have Wi-Fi and cable TV. Interaction with GuestsI'm glad to answer questions about the area and make suggestions. I enjoy sharing breakfast when able but respect guest's privacy. Often folks come in late and I will leave the lights on outside and hallway. Guest room is upstairs so will leave the door open of available room. The NeighborhoodThis home is close enough for a 5 minute walk to the reversing salt water Tidal Falls the area of Hancock is known for. Acadia National Park is a 15-20 minute drive either direction. Schoodic Peninsula is downeast from house and juts out in the Atlantic where you get views of the well known Mount Desert Island's rugged coastline. Bar Harbor has a big summer influx of tourists milling around. The town has many choices for eating out, boat trips, gift shops and summer community events. Getting AroundThere are buses to travel around Mount Desert Island for free. They travel from Trenton where you can park your car. The buses hold bicycles and travel to the 3 main towns on Mount Desert Island. They also go into Acadia from Bar Harbor. It's a good way to interact and meet fellow travelers.

Unfortunately, due to many prior problems, we can no longer accept reservations from groups of four or more unrelated people unless most or all have prior positive AirBnB reviews. We have kayaks, along with life jackets, for guests to use during high tide in the cove. We'll ask you to sign a release form before using the kayaks, and we'll give you some safety tips. Remember that Maine waters are cold, even in the summer! So, it's a good idea to dress warm for paddling, wear a life jacket, and stay inside the calm cove. The house is on a well and septic system. The mineral content in the water is high. We have installed new water systems to eliminate odors, but the water does stain the tub and sink. Be assured, we clean and disinfect before each guest. We'll give you more information and a list of local attractions, restaurants and services when you arrive! We have lots of maps and guidebooks for you to use in planning your adventure.

The SpaceGreat space for a SINGLE family vacation! This is the home of an artist and landscape designer, filled with creative works and charm. It's very quiet in a woodland setting with a great view of the ocean. There is a picnic table and hammock for your use as well as a long deck with chairs. And outdoor shower near the outdoor hot tub is heavenly! The rooms are comfy with stunning views. The kitchen is well equipped, good area for co-cooking. Guests will be welcome to stroll through my gardens and sit in the Adirondak chairs facing the ocean view. Parking is in front of the house in the circular driveway with easy access to the garden paths. I love meeting people and will be happy to make some recommendations for things to go, see and eat. There is a fat pile of brochures from surrounding attractions including some restaurants which I can review with guests. The price for this space does include the local tax of 8%. Hancock Point is a lovely quiet pristine spot on the Maine coast. It is all residential and I don't think it has changed much in decades. There are a few great walks along the shore and good bike paths as well. From the beach, one can see Bar Harbor, often filled with sailboats and lots of sea birds. One can rent bikes from the local bike shops and take a kayak tour with a neighbor who rents them. Artists love this area and there are a number of fine galleries and artist studios to visit. There are numerous antiques places and yard sales on the weekends. This location is near Bar Harbor, Northeast and Southwest, all quintessential Maine towns, ripe for exploring and perusing. I am happy to provide sheets and towels. Guest AccessGuests are welcome to stroll though the flower filled gardens. A short hop down the driveway will bring you to the nearby beach overlooking Bar Harbor and the Porcupine Islands. Interaction with GuestsI love having guests come to my home and I am always happy to make suggestions of fun trips and adventures. I love talking about the building of this log cabin and its ongoing landscape features. The NeighborhoodHancock is historically interesting. It is integrated with grand homes and modest pre-fabs, many with ocean views. There are a few yummy places to eat a meal at any time of the day. Lobsters are easily available. Also a delight are the many artists' studios and galleries. Acadia Park is nearby. Getting AroundThere is a pubic bus that goes into Bar Harbor. Kayaks are readily available for rent as are bikes. Canoes are also available. And there are countless hiking trails nearby! Other Things to NoteThe is a very quiet and private location; a great place for relaxing, drawing writing or practicing you violin. One can hear extraordinary concerts at the Pierre Monteux conducting school! The hilltop location boasts breezes all summer.
