Our beautiful home is only 45 minutes from Milwaukee, just over an hour from Chicago, and only 30 minutes from Erin, WI which hosts the U.S. Open in June 2017! Closer golf courses abound in the area. Our home is on an 8-acre private lake fantastic for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing. It can also be enjoyed by walking the ample trails in the summer and snowshoeing in winter. Our home comfortably sleeps 10, and an additional 4 can be accommodated in a two-bedroom yurt, which has comfy queen beds, a living room, electricity, and a composting toilet (no sink or shower). Bedrooms in the house include a master on the top floor with a king-sized bed and fold-out couch (to say nothing of the fireplace and lake view!), and an open sleeping loft with bunk beds that look out over the living room. IMPORTANT: Sound travels and, if you have people who like to stay up late, you might want to make sure that they are also the people who sleep in the loft! The master and loft share a full bath. The first floor has a small, cozy bedroom with a queen-sized bed and a bathroom with shower just down the hall, while the lower floor includes a king bed and bunk beds, with a door opening to the beach and lake, as well as its own bathroom with shower. This room is right off of the sauna and next to the ping-pong, darts, and pool room—another consideration about where people might sleep if you have late-nighters in your party! The house also has a spectacular, 2-story stone fireplace in a small, but cozy living room, a full kitchen with a dining room looking out at the lake with seating for 8 (two folding chairs on the porch allow you to expand to seat ten), and a screened in porch that we use to seat another four-six family members for meals, to read the morning paper and drink coffee, to play games at night, and to watch the incredible bird life or Wisconsin's wonderful, summer storms. We are only 15-minutes to town, where you will be able to find all of the essentials that you might need. Don't forget to try Wisconsin's famous custard! This is "lake country," and there are numerous public lakes for fishing, boating, and dining, all within a short driving distance. Our home, land, and lake is a great place to stay for a family reunion, or if you want a great base for a summer vacation that includes side trips to the Wisconsin Dells, the Saturday Farmer's Market in Madison, the beautiful Kettle Moraine, or the world-class music at the renowned SummerFest in Milwaukee! Book now, as rental availability is limited: this is our home, not a year-round rental.
