The SpaceLocated steps from the lake in the Sunnyside neighborhood of the West Shore, this Classic Tahoe Cabin is in the BEST LOCATION for winter time in Tahoe. Nestled on a large, flat lot this cabin is ideal for lovers of the West Shore. The cabin has easy access to the West Shore Bike Path and the lake. Delicious food is calling 2 blocks away at Firesign Cafe or the Sunnyside Lodge & Restaurant (both a 2 minute walk). Downtown Tahoe City is just 10 minutes away by car for shopping, dining, movies and more. A private hot tub sits on the back deck under an open sky, a BBQ sits on the front deck with a table and chairs for eating outside, and the large front lawn is ideal for lawn games or sunbathing. The house has 4 bedrooms (3 plus a bonus room downstairs) and 2 bathrooms. The bedrooms have top of the line bedding and plenty of closet space. The house is fully furnished and amenities include: a hot tub w/ waterfall, lights and room for 6 people on the back patio, kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, newly remodeled bathrooms, 50" plasma TV w/ DVD player, wireless internet throughout the house and a fully loaded kitchen for eating in. House configuration: Master bedroom: 1 King bed Guest bedroom: 1 Queen bed Guest bedroom: 1 Queen bed + baby crib Den/Bonus room: 1 Queen bed + sofa I am available by phone or email but do not live in the area. I love sharing my cabin on Airbnb and just ask that guests treat it like it's their own. Leaving the house tidy really sends the message that the home was treated with love and care. Guest AccessGuests have access to a custom built ski locker in the front entryway for gear storage, the hot tub and all parts of the cabin. The basement is locked for owner storage. Interaction with GuestsI am available by phone, text or email. Other Things to NoteI love sharing my cabin on Airbnb and just ask that guests treat it like it's their own. A few details to note: The house usually has condiments such as ketchup, mustard, syrup, flower, sugar, salt and pepper. Coffee filters are v shape. We do not stock up on firewood so please buy some at the store in town before your arrival if you wish to light a fire. I recommend also buying a fire starter and newspaper to get the fire going. A shovel is located in the front entryway for snow removal as well as a brush to wipe snow off of your car. Please return these to the closet when finished for the next guest. We do have plow service for the driveway and shovel service after a big snow storm. The cabin was built in 1968(!) and the central heating doesn't quite do the job. Space heaters are available in each room for extra warmth. The bedding is very cozy and comfortable for winter months. The house is 3 levels, with stairs leading to the bedrooms (both the 3 main and 1 bonus). The cabin is approximately 1,800 square feet.

The SpaceLocation, location, location! You can walk to Sunnyside Lodge (lakefront bar and dining), Firesign Cafe (great breakfasts & lunches) and our Tahoe Park Homeowners' Beach. This private beach is only a block down the street. The homeowners' beach has 3 acres of lake front and lots of amenities, like 2 docks, BBQs, picnic tables, and bathrooms. Guest AccessYou have exclusive access to the entire cabin and the three large lots on which it is built. You have a gate entry card to get you into the private homeowners' beach, just a short walk down the street. There is snow removal service in the winter. We have an annual contract with Tahoe Park Snow Job. Interaction with GuestsI live and work in Novato, so I will not be present. The housekeeper, Bertha, lives in King's Beach, so she would be the one to help out with any problem. The NeighborhoodWe love that the cabin's location--close to two awesome restaurants, and not far (2 miles) from Tahoe City, with even more restaurants. World Class ski resorts are close by, too. Homewood is 4 miles down Highway 89, and you can be at Alpine Meadows or Squaw Valley in about 15-20 minutes. There is also Northstar, and Mt. Rose, and Incline. Love that the house has a huge outdoor space. It was built on a three lot parcel back in 1940. Love that our private homeowners' beach is just a block down the street, too. Can be in Reno in less than an hour. Getting AroundThere is a bus system TART (Tahoe Area Rapid Transit), but would assume you would have your car. We do not provide bicycles, but you may want to bring them in the summer. There is a beautiful bike path that runs along the lake, and also back to Truckee. Other Things to NoteThere is a short list of things we need you to do when you check out, so that the water pipes don't freeze and break before Bee Tostado and her staff come to clean. Also, over the last couple years, bear break-ins have become a concern. We had our first bear break-in in 50 years of owning the cabin in September 2012, and since then, have had a total of four. Again, there is a short list of things we ask you to do to lessen the chance of any more break-ins. The most important thing is not to leave any food in the refrigerator, freezer or anywhere in the house when you check out, as apparently, they can smell through the walls. The rent includes the 10% Placer County Transient Occupancy Tax. Cleaning is included in the rent. The house will be clean for your arrival, and cleaned after you check out. There is no housekeeping provided during your stay.

The NeighborhoodSuper family friendly and safe neighborhood. Getting AroundThe house is proximate to the Tahoe Area Regional Transit (TART) bus stop. The SpaceIn the heart of Sunnyside, Pine Cone is a short walk to our private HOA beach and the best brunch at the lake. Leave your city-slicker granite counter tops at home – we have what’s important: our Saturday Supper dessert cabinet contains an ice cream maker, sundae bar, fondue, and of course s’mores. (And s’meeces, the Pine Cone S’mores 3.0) Plus of course everything else you need to make yourself at home: fully equipped kitchen, laundry, etc. etc. The basics & bonuses: 3 bedrooms sleep 15 people. Dogs welcome! Wifi, printer, and standard office supplies included for you workerbees. Shampoo, toothpaste, hair dryer basics provided (though ironing board and such fancy big-city accoutrements are not – this is Tahoe!). Deck, BBQ, beach blankets, board games, DVD player, dozens of DVDs, puzzles, cookbook collection for your Saturday supper planning, beach books, a guitar, and more. The beach: we'll give you a key to the private homeowners association beach, featuring volleyball, basketball, and horseshoe courts; green grass and shady benches; clean bathrooms (very important); weddings to crash all weekend long; and Tahoe’s finest skipping stones. (Forget how to skip rocks? You ARE in need of a getaway!) The neighborhood: Sunnyside is hot for good reason! A few blocks from the docks, we’re the one spot on this side of the lake that’s walking distance from not one but two rockin’ brunch places. While removed from the mean streets (ha!) of Tahoe City, when you forget something at the grocery store we’re only 6 minutes down the road. South Lake has curling and all (message Colleen if you want to try), but it's Vegas compared to this: North Tahoe is casino-free pockets of quiet cabins from another era, with more dogs and kids littering the middle of the street than cars. Oh, and it’s an easy 3.5hrs from SF, assuming you miss traffic and drive like we do. The activities: you really plan more than brunch, beach & wine? Ambitious. Okay, fine: we’ve got the hook-up for that too. We’ll tell you where to rent a boat, find the good hikes, and hop the local watering holes. Look us up on the map and you’ll see: we’re close to biking, river rafting, sledding, skiing, and snowboarding (Squaw, Alpine Meadows, Northstar, Homewood et al.), the Tahoe Rim Trail, and all that outdoorsy goodness. Plus when you get here, you’ll find our binder of local tips that could only be amassed by a family that’s been here 28 years. Please note a 1-week minimum is required for Christmas and New Year's. If you'd like to visit, please ensure you have a profile with picture and tell us a bit about the group that's coming and what you're hoping for in your stay.

Heating: the cabin's main source of heat is the fireplace in the living room which is the best fireplace I have ever had. The upstairs rooms have plug in heaters and the dining room has a wall heater. The people sleeping downstairs may want to keep the fireplace going to maintain the heat downstairs. We haven't had to use heaters during the Spring or Summer. Sorry there is no dishwasher and no garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. **** SORRY, NO PETS PLEASE ***** **** 10 percent TOT (tax by county of Placer) and $100 cleaning fee t**** 746 sq ft downstairs, 458 sq ft upstairs. *****This is a old rustic Tahoe style cabin with updates. You must be cool with what comes with the charm that comes with old wood style houses. There is no dishwasher and no garbage disposal. There is no central heating. Great for people who like to be close to nature and want to relax. ***** We offer discounts for 7 days or more. Monthly rates are available. Guest Accesslarge house (the entire gated property shared with other house is almost half an acre which is rare in Tahoe City where many houses are built right next to others), shared driveway with other house, front yard, backyard, close to bike trails (summer/fall/spring), West Shore sports around the corner with rentals of stand up paddle boards, bikes, jet skis, boats, kayaks . Interaction with GuestsWe will not be present so you will have your privacy. Please call or text us and we will be glad to help! The NeighborhoodAbout 15 mins from Squaw Valley USA ski resort, Alpine Meadows ski resort, and 10 mins from Homewood ski resorts. About 5 mins to Granilbakken ski area/tubing. Opposite of the bad traffic from Truckee/east Tahoe City to the ski resorts. You can also drive to Northstar, Sugarbowl, Diamond Peak, and Mount Rose ski resorts. The best location in Lake Tahoe, 4 houses from Lake Tahoe, about 6 houses from Sunnyside Resort(lake access). Walk to Sunnyside Market, Firesign Cafe, Spoon Restaurant, Westshore Sports, Kilner Park, restaurant, Sunnyside beach. Bike to main drag of Tahoe City and Truckee River. Short drive to Emerald Bay. Live music and sunset dinners at Sunnyside on many days. This is a great year round North Shore location at a very affordable price. Drive to South Lake Tahoe Harrahs and Harvey's casinos or to the Lake Tahoe area casinos such as Crystal Bay casino or CalNeva. You can also drive to Reno (shopping, casinos, pho, buffets, shoes, Circus Circus). Bike/drive to Truckee River and River Ranch where there is tubing during the summer. Getting AroundTahoe Bus TART (bus stop a few houses away), Tahoe TAXI, bike paths, walking hiking trails, tubing at Truckee River (summer if there is enough water) Other Things to NoteOur dream house was purchased in 2014 because we wanted a place for our toddler daughter to actually have a yard to play in and experience the outdoors unlike our small apartment (aka "shoebox") in the City. It's great that she can play on the large property, build a snowman, gather pine cones, ride her scooter, enjoy biking the bike path around the lake with us, and we can walk to the lake. The house has a large front yard and huge backyard away from the street since it is a fenced property. The gated property shared with the other house is almost half an acre! We could not ask for a better location. We think it is the best location in all of Tahoe. We have the ability to walk to Sunnyside and the lake is only a few houses away. Amazing world class ski resorts are only a short drive away. There are very few places in Tahoe where we can walk to a store, restaurants and the lake while being so close to the ski resorts. It is the only home we own so please take care of it so that our family, friends, and guests can enjoy it for years to come. We love this place and hope that you will too. Please contact us immediately if there is an emergency or damage. If there is anything missing or item you think we should get please let us know. Our cozy place is a work in progress (not the 4 seasons or Hyatt) but we hope to get a hot tub and other cool items in the next few years. FIREPLACE: 1) Please be careful around the fireplace since it is very hot. The handle gets very hot so please use the oven mitt on top of the fireplace. Bring some firesticks to help get the fire started. 2) The flume is always open, sometimes some smoke will come in the house until the hot air pushes out the cold air in the chimney. The trick is to light something small like some paper or a fire stick to get some hot air going up the chimney then once the cold air is out it will start to suck the flame and smoke in. The fireplace works very well for us once we get a fire going. We have used it during a heavy storm and had no issues at all. Please let me know if you have any questions. NEIGHBORS: Please respect our neighbors.
