The NeighborhoodInner-city Surry Hills is Sydney's most artistically and culturally vibrant neighbourhood, and is currently experiencing a renaissance that is making it THE place to be in Sydney. If you’re into shopping you’re in luck, with a range of cool independent clothing stores and innovative homewares stores peppering Surry Hills. Wander up leafy Bourke St past the grand old terraces of the 19th century as you head to Oxford Street with its bars and colourful street life. Grab an ice-cream from one of the famous gelatissimos and sit in one of Surry Hills’ attractive parks watching this colourful and diverse neighbourhood go by. The SpaceI will try to provide as much relevant information concerning the house and the location, though if you have any queries please send a message. Kepos Terrace is on the border of Surry Hills / Redfern and it is perfect for exploring Sydney with bus stops around the corner taking you in any direction, or there is much to see and do within walking distance. The nearest train station is Central Station. The house is a typical inner city terrace house of 2 levels, with some lovely original features, 13ft high ornate ceilings and much natural light, in a tree lined street, situated in a cul-de-sac, thus it is very quiet with no traffic noise, which is unexpected as we are so close to the city. Downstairs: Lounge, dining, kitchen, second bathroom, laundry, and a court yard off the kitchen. Upstairs: Bedrooms and shared bathroom. Being 2 levels, it is not a problem to come home late or make a cup of tea in the middle of the night. The room has everything you will need, it is fully furnished with a double bed, clean linen is supplied, sheets, towels, dressing / bath robe, iron & ironing board and a hair dryer has been provided. The room has a ceiling fan. I would like to know some information about you before accepting a booking - please have a profile or send some information when you request a booking stating the purpose of your trip, whether you are here on business, holidays, studying English or backpacking Australia. Once again I am happy to answer any queries you may have, please do not hesitate to contact me. Paris Guest AccessGuests have access to all common areas of the house on ground level, including the kitchen ( light meal preparation is welcomed ), lounge, garden & laundry. A kitchen cupboard and a shelf in the fridge is allocated to our guests to store groceries. Interaction with GuestsWhether someone is here in Sydney for business or simply traveling, I am happy to offer local advice, help with English, and I always appreciate learning more about my guests. The NeighborhoodWe are surrounded by cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars in Dank, Crown & Bourke Streets, all within easy walking distance, and a short walk to Centennial Park. Our current guest referred to this area as a 'hipsters neighbourhood', and I quite agree. I like that it is accepting of all age groups and at any hour of the day ( it seems ), there are people in the streets. Getting AroundTransport is exceptionally easy from this location. We have created a blog which details transport options, whether entering the city from the airport or coming from Central Station with helpful hints getting around Sydney including maps, train / bus routes & timetable information. The blog address is available to bookings with Kepos Terrace. Other Things to NoteThe airbnb site normally requires a personal photo and any difficultly experienced in trying to log on, setting up an account or in trying to include photos, such problems we understand may be attributed to not accessing/entering information on the airbnb site via E.L.G.O.O.G. or(URL HIDDEN)which is more stable. Also to note : Phone numbers and e addresses are understandably blocked by airbnb until a booking is made, thus sending contact details won't be visible to me.

The SpaceI live in a large, light and open-plan apartment with a private room available for short-stay visitors, in the newly developed suburb of Waterloo on Sydney City's fringe. The living area opens out to a good sized 90 degrees wrap around balcony, taking advantage of the morning sun, with a North Easterly aspect. The guest room has airconditioning with good heating in the cooler months, and has a large built-in wardrobe and comfortable queen-size bed with crisp white linen. It is serviced by a private bathroom with fresh towels provided. The apartment is located on the corner of Danks Street, known for it's trendy cafes and eateries, and just a short stroll for groceries, only minutes away. Landscaped parks and gardens are within the village-like community, with access to an indoor pool, spa, sauna and gymnasium. It's a beautiful and friendly area which I've enjoyed living in for the past 10 years. Public Transport runs regularly to and from the city, with bus stops conveniently close. Smoking is permitted on the outside balcony area only. Whilst you are here, your privacy is guaranteed. Your room is your sanctuary. So whilst your bed won't be made for you daily, you will enjoy the warmth of staying in a friendly home environment. I'll be here and only too happy to answer any enquiries about local knowledge and sights. You are warmly welcomed into my home :)

The SpaceThis is an extremely comfortable, spacious, two storey terraced house right in the heart of Surry Hills, which has received the accolade of being listed in the top 30 hip inner city suburbs in the world (above Williamsburg and Dalston!). The house is in a busy, bohemian inner city area but if you want to escape and stay in from time to time you can draw the red velvet curtains and you will find the house has a calm, warm and peaceful atmosphere and the garden is a little oasis with trees, plants and bird life. It is situated on a busy street, but there is double glazing in all the front windows, it is very well insulated and it backs on to an exceptionally tranquil heritage enclave so we expect you will find it surprisingly quiet. As the house is over 100 years old it is properly built, and benefits from proper insulation, it also keeps a good temperature. It keeps warm in the winter and stays cool and airy in the summer. We therefore do not need air conditioning, even in the height of Sydney summers. (Also better for our environment!) The ground floor of the house consists of a large open plan living area (with lots of couches to stretch out on), a dining area (which seats 6 to 8 people), a large, well equipped kitchen, laundry and a large shower room. Bifold doors at the back open out into the courtyard, which has a table and chairs and two lounger/rocking chairs. The courtyard gets lots of sun in the summer but also has plenty of shade from a lovely gum tree. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a large bathroom with an old fashioned claw foot bath, ideal for luxuriating in after a hard day on the beach or walking round the local shops and galleries (please note, the upstairs bathroom does not have a shower). The back bedroom is the master bedroom and looks out onto the back garden/courtyard. It has a partition wall which is deliberately designed to slide back to open up the room even more, or you can keep it closed for privacy (understandable!). The house is very airy and open plan, which for us is how we like it, but for that reason it is unsuitable for very young, mobile children. The house has wifi and a sophisticated stereo system for listening to music but please note: there is no TV. You won't need it or miss it when there is so much to do locally and elsewhere in Sydney and, when you are relaxing in the house, you can read and listen to music. Right across the street is Sydney's hippest (and friendliest) local pub. It does craft beer, great value food and hosts various local idiosyncratic DJs and sometimes live music. People of all ages and interests simply cannot fail to enjoy themselves if they drop in either for a quick drink or to spend the whole evening. Also just opposite is a cafe serving great coffee and South American breakfasts and snacks. As if that wasn't enough, in the same street and a few seconds walk away, there is a Thai restaurant, also two excellent Vietnamese restaurants, a noodle and dumpling cafe, a superb pizza restaurant and the award winning restaurant 4Fourteen. There are also numerous cafes, bars and restaurants a few minutes' walk away in Bourke Street and Crown Street. There are also lots of delicatessens, bakeries (including the celebrated Bourke Street Bakery) and supermarkets within a few minutes' walk, so of course you can entertain at home as well. Apart from the dining and nightlife, there are numerous trendy shops nearby and many art galleries. The area is great for walking and there is also beautiful Centennial Park just a few minutes' walk away if you need some fresh air, trees and open spaces. The house is also a short walk from a brand new outdoor swimming pool, Prince Alfred Park Pool. Surry Hills is right in the centre of the city and it is possible to walk to Sydney harbour, the Royal Botanical Gardens, museums and department stores and so on in 20 or 30 minutes. You will definitely not need a car, but if you really want to use a car we recommend you use one of the local car share schemes as, without a resident's permit, parking is limited nearby to two hours at a time. There are also countless bus routes passing nearby going either to the beaches (Bondi, Bronte, Clovelly etc) or into the city (Circular Quay, Sydney Opera House) and it is also easy to get to other interesting areas such as Newtown, Chippendale, Glebe and Balmain by public transport. Central station is a short walk from the house and is the main railway station where you can get both local train services and trains out to the country and up and down the coast, such as to the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands, the South Coast and Newcastle. Guest AccessGuests will have sole use of the house and garden. Guests will not have access to the loft/studio, this will be locked during their stay. Interaction with GuestsWe will try to meet guests on arrival but this isn't always possible. We will be contactable by phone the entire time in case of any questions. Otherwise we tend to leave guests to enjoy the house in private. Getting AroundThe house is very centrally located and is well served by public transport: not far from Central Station for trains and there are numerous bus services.

Interaction with GuestsAs a frequent traveler I know the joys of both absolute seclusion and having a friendly and approachable host. The Tin Shed offers both. The studio has its own street access so our interaction can be as minimal as exchanging the keys. Alternatively, I'm just next-door and happy to have a chat. I have been based in the inner-Sydney area all my life so I would be happy to let you know what there is to do and see around Redfern. I am also happy to give you some pointers about the greater Sydney area, or even Australia, tailored to your individual interests. The NeighborhoodThe apartment is 2 minutes walk to trendy Danks Street where there are cafés and galleries, and 5 minutes walk to the food and bar mecca of Sydney, Crown Street Surry Hills. If you are staying in Sydney to sample the food of some of the best chefs in the world, not to mention the coffee of some of the best baristas, then this studio is ideal. Getting AroundThe closest bus stop is just 50 metres away around the corner and several buses stop here that go to the city in 10 minutes, they also go to Circular Quay and Bondi Junction. Two of Sydney's main train stations, Central and Redfern, are only 20 minutes walk or 2km away. Some of the best bicycle paths in the inner-city are located in and around Redfern. Why not join the Sydney “architecture bike tour" at your door step as it passes by to take in The Tin Shed. Alternatively, enjoy the life that East Redfern and Surry Hills have to offer and walk. Other Things to NoteTo avoid disappointment, please note that we have a variable minimum stay. Longer stays are given priority over short stays, particularly for requests made for more than a week away. Check in and out times are generally quite flexible given some notice. Laundry access is available, however there is also an affordable launderette 2 minutes walk around the corner. The SpaceThis traditonal, 70sq. m., two level terrace house has just been completely renovated. The open plan ground floor incorporates a living room which opens onto a courtyard (with bi-fold doors), spacious galley kitchen, with dishwasher, and dining room. There is a laundry with a washing machine and dryer discreetly housed in the courtyard. Upstairs you will find two bedrooms (with built ins), both with queen sized beds, to sleep up to 4 people, and a bathroom with a walk in shower. Since there is a lot of white in the design, architecturally the terrace is quite compact, and there is no large garden as such, it may not be the best place for a long stay with children. * Due to fraudulent activity, Photo ID and a security bond, payable prior to arrival, will be required to book this property.
