The SpaceOpal Street House is a comfortable cottage set in a former orchard (now a large, private garden with lots of fruit trees). Our home is less than a mile from Sutter Creek's historic Main Street. 2 Beds, 1 Bath. Sleeps up to 4.
Welcome to Opal Street House. Our two-bedroom cottage is set in a former orchard (now a large private garden with nice fruit trees), and our home is less than a mile from Sutter Creek's historic Main Street. Opal Street House is about "la dolce vita"-- a nice get-away if you just want to sit in the porch swing, and an ideal base for exploring Amador County's Gold Rush towns, wineries, scenic back roads, restaurants and special attractions (Daffodil Hill, Black Chasm caves, Sutter Creek Theatre, Kennedy Mine Amphitheatre, and the Jackson Rancheria Casino are just a few of the attractions close by).
Our home is also a popular place to stay during Amador's favorite events like Amador Four Fires, Italian Picnic, Big Crush, Dandelion Days and Behind the Cellar Door. Opal Street's Sutter Creek location also turns a whole bucket list of regional field trips into possible day trips: Kirkwood, Sacramento, Silver Lake and a long list of towns and sites up and down the Highway 49 and Highway 88 corridors.
Opal Street House sleeps up to four people. Our home is a balance of un-fussy luxury and the simple pleasures of living in the country. It features an old-fashioned front porch (with a swing), central heat and air, hard wood floors in the living areas (carpet in bedrooms), French doors into a big yard, great natural light, a mix of antiques and comfortable modern furnishings--and thoughtful details throughout. We offer one king-size bed and one queen-size bed—both outfitted with luxury linens. Our bookshelves are well-stocked, and we keep complimentary popcorn, a bottle of local wine and our favorite coffee plus other essentials and snacks waiting for you in the pantry. We like to cook, and our kitchen is supplied with the basics. If you'd like us to stock the fridge or enhance what's in the pantry before you arrive, we're happy to arrange for an array of items for an additional charge. We're also happy to make arrangements for a special occasion (chilled champagne? flowers?)--just let us know. Once you arrive our house book will help you explore the area with plenty of local insider tips (from our favorite local butcher to the closest hot springs and a full schedule of local and regional events).
The house is nestled at the end of a private drive in the midst of a quiet neighborhood. We are firm on our policy of a 4-guest limit, and our house is not suitable for hosting large parties.
Our nightly rate includes Sutter Creek's hotel tax. We require a two-night minimum stay and offer significant discounts for visits of a week and longer.
Other specific amenities (see "The Space" as well):
Complimentary wi-fi, washer and dryer, a simple stereo system (use alone or with your i-pod/i-pad), a gas stove with oven and broiler, garbage disposal, dish washer, and a full-sized fridge. The bathroom features a tub/shower combination and luxury bath products. Our enclosed, attached garage provides parking for a single car and our private drive area has ample space for up to two additional vehicles.
We provide an "old school" BBQ, briquettes and tools. The yard has two small café tables and chairs.
We do not have a microwave, a land-line phone, or TV--this house is about unplugging and enjoying "la dolce vita".
The yard that surrounds the house is planted with heritage roses, lilacs, grapes, fruit and nut trees. You are welcome to sample what's in season--as long as you leave some of the crop for us and the next guests.
