The master bedroom has a queen sized bed, ceiling fan, a Dyson hot/cool air multiplier fan and a full length wardrobe. The second bedroom is larger. It has a double bunk and a double bed. It has a reversed cycle air conditioner, a wardrobe and writing desk. The bathroom and toilet doorways are designed to fit in a wheelchair. The living/kitchen area has reversed cycle air conditioning. Living area has smart TV. WiFi available. Kitchen has slow cooker, rice cooker, coffee machine( capsule) and water filter tank on top of basic amenities. Laundry has a front loader washer, iron and ironing board. Clothesline is shared. Guest AccessGuests use separate driveway. Clothesline and barbecue are shared located at the back of main house (front of the cottage). Rubbish Bins are located next to the clothesline. Yellow top (Recyclables), Plain green ( General rubbish) Lots of space for parking at the back of the property. Interaction with GuestsAs the flat is close to the main house, we are only a few steps away if needed but plenty of space to ensure privacy. Now and then we work around the orchard and vege patch. Please be assured of little or no disturbance -the windows are tinted except the front entrance. If you happen/lucky to see a rat-like animal at night, it is our permanent garden guest, the quenda, which is a sub specie of bandicoot - a marsupial. They are vegetarians and like to forage in the garden at night. They are harmless and won't bother anyone. The NeighborhoodThe estate is reasonably quiet, other than the occasional sound of air traffic heading east. Great walks along Lakeside Drive-whole circuit = 2km; halfway gets you to the lake- feed the ducks, playground, etc.) and to our local supermarket IGA and bottle shop. Short drive to historic Guildford with lots of cafe, antique shops. Close to the Zig Zag in Gooseberry Hill and neighbouring national parks. Restaurants in Swan Valley Wine region, Midland, Guildford, Kalamunda, and neighbouring hills region. Wine and Food trail along West Swan Drive and Great Northern Highway Approx 20 min drive to Caversham Wildlife Park in Whiteman Park. Getting AroundDriving is the best way to get around Perth and surrounds. As a city, Perth is spread out and, as a state, Western Australia covers such a vast area. Day trips are achievable with forward planning which we would only be too happy to help. WEEKDAYS: Bus services both in the morning and late afternoon/evening links up to the Midland Train and Bus Station which takes you to the city through to Fremantle without getting off. Bus Stop is a short walk from property on Lakeside Drive entry. WEEKENDS/PUBLIC HOLIDAYS: No bus service from Helena Valley but train and buses still run at Midland terminal. Can taxi to/from midland terminal. From the airport, it costs approx $30 by taxi. We are 10-15 minutes away from both domestic and international airports. Lots of space for parking at the back of the property. We enjoy the "bush"-like feel yet we are only 25 minutes from the city, the Swan Valley and close to connecting highways either north/south or east/west of Perth. Bus timetables, maps and few brochures are left inside the cottage for your perusal. Other Things to NoteListed Fee is for 2 persons. Any Extra person/s charged at $10- please refer to section for add-on fees. Children over 2 years old are counted as one person.

The SpaceThis room is one of two available on the top floor of my lovely large house tucked away in the Perth Hills. With air-con/heater and fabulous mattress with healthy magnets for the perfect night’s sleep. We are a very easygoing home, with plenty of outside garden space to relax in, as well as use of most of the top floor. Guest AccessUpstairs is for you to use almost exclusively; including the bathroom, TV/DVD lounge, laptop area and tea/coffee tray. It will be quiet during the day, as I am out and about a lot of the time. If you need good internet you may need to access this downstairs, as it can be a hit and miss. My partner has her art studio on the same floor and occasionally uses the bathroom to wash brushes etc. You are also welcome to prepare food in the kitchen and breakfast will be served in the dinning room downstairs. Downstairs we also have our own lounge area and bedrooms, these are not for guests use. Although in winter you are welcome to warm yourselves by the log fire near the entrance hall! In the garden you are welcome to play table-tennis, sun-bath and swim in the pool. (This had a deep diving end, so is only for competent swimmers). Interaction with GuestsI love meeting new people from all around the world, and look forward to helping with any trip planning; as I’ve been in this area over 40 years and know all the best places to visit. During the daytime I run a full-time business from home, so may be out or working from my office. However my partner Sophie will be around to look after you and help with anything you need. The NeighborhoodThe house is tucked into the beautiful Perth Hills, with easy access to the wineries, art galleries, antique shops, villages, fishing, parklands, water-falls and wild flowers (in the winter). Some of our favourite places are in near-by Guildford, Kalamunda and Mundaring. Venture a bit further and your options are endless. If you love walking and wild-life we have wild kangaroos who live on the bush-land outside the house, and not to wild ones you can have your coffee with just 10 minutes away. Our local shops are in Midland, where you have a mall, groceries, banks, and everything you need to make your trip a success. Nip down to Perth City and explore the famous cafes and beaches (also 45 mins drive direct), on Fremantle with it’s more artsy, alternative side, with the weekend markets or go down south to Margaret River and take in more stunning scenery. Want the great places to eat, drink and unwind? No problem as we have direct links into all the very best. Getting AroundYou will ideally need to hire a car to make the very best of staying in the Perth Hills, as this will give you the most flexibility. From the house there is a 12 min drive to Midland train station, where you can get the train into Perth city and beyond. This is a 25 minute ride and currently costs around $4.50 each way. Alternatively if you have the Uber app on your phone it is possible to use this to get you to and from either Midland station or direct to the city. Typically an Uber to the city is around $40, and $15 to Midland. We can help you set this up if you’ve never used this type of taxi system before. Other Things to NoteThis is a creative house, with a working artists studio, original art on the walls upstairs (please be careful) and a newly establishing garden. We love to talk about art, architecture, design, gardening, nature and of course food and wine! We happily welcome and can cater for all vegans, ‘free-from’, GF, or raw and living foodies. Sprouts are growing in the kitchen, kimchee, komucha and vegan cheese are fermenting around the place, and raw crackers are often dehydrating too. Although beware as I myself also cook lots of meat on the BBQ... We also have the ‘madam' of the house our long-haired female cat, who is likely to hide from guests, but may also sleep on your bed if you leave your door open.
