The SpaceThis room is one of two available on the top floor of my lovely large house tucked away in the Perth Hills. With air-con/heater and fabulous mattress with healthy magnets for the perfect night’s sleep. We are a very easygoing home, with plenty of outside garden space to relax in, as well as use of most of the top floor. Guest AccessUpstairs is for you to use almost exclusively; including the bathroom, TV/DVD lounge, laptop area and tea/coffee tray. It will be quiet during the day, as I am out and about a lot of the time.
If you need good internet you may need to access this downstairs, as it can be a hit and miss.
My friend has her art studio on the same floor and occasionally uses the bathroom to wash brushes etc.
You are also welcome to prepare food in the kitchen and breakfast will be served in the dinning room downstairs.
Downstairs we also have our own lounge area and bedrooms, these are not for guests use. Although in winter you are welcome to warm yourselves by the log fire near the entrance hall!
In the garden you are welcome to play table-tennis, sun-bath and swim in the pool. (This had a deep diving end, so is only for competent swimmers). Interaction with GuestsI love meeting new people from all around the world, and look forward to helping with any trip planning; as I’ve been in this area over 40 years and know all the best places to visit. During the daytime I run a full-time business from home, so may be out or working from my office.
However my friend Sophie will be around to look after you and help with anything you need. The NeighborhoodThe house is tucked into the beautiful Perth Hills, with easy access to the wineries, art galleries, antique shops, villages, fishing, parklands, water-falls and wild flowers (in the winter). Some of our favourite places are in near-by Guildford, Kalamunda and Mundaring. Venture a bit further and your options are endless.
If you love walking and wild-life we have wild kangaroos who live on the bush-land outside the house, and not to wild ones you can have your coffee with just 10 minutes away.
Our local shops are in Midland, where you have a mall, groceries, banks, and everything you need to make your trip a success.
Nip down to Perth City and explore the famous cafes and beaches (also 45 mins drive direct), on Fremantle with it’s more artsy, alternative side, with the weekend markets or go down south to Margaret River and take in more stunning scenery.
Want the great places to eat, drink and unwind? No problem as we have direct links into all the very best. Getting AroundYou will ideally need to hire a car to make the very best of staying in the Perth Hills, as this will give you the most flexibility.
From the house there is a 12 min drive to Midland train station, where you can get the train into Perth city and beyond. This is a 25 minute ride and currently costs around $4.50 each way.
Alternatively if you have the Uber app on your phone it is possible to use this to get you to and from either Midland station or direct to the city. Typically an Uber to the city is around $40, and $15 to Midland. We can help you set this up if you’ve never used this type of taxi system before. Other Things to NoteThis is a creative house, with a working artists studio, original art on the walls upstairs (please be careful) and a newly establishing garden. We love to talk about art, architecture, design, gardening, nature and of course food and wine!
We happily welcome and can cater for all vegans, ‘free-from’, GF, or raw and living foodies. Sprouts are growing in the kitchen, kimchee, komucha and vegan cheese are fermenting around the place, and raw crackers are often dehydrating too.
Although beware as I myself also cook lots of meat on the BBQ...
We also have the ‘madam' of the house our long-haired female cat, who is likely to hide from guests, but may also sleep on your bed if you leave your door open.
