At Midden Lane, we wish to share some of the secret trails & remote beaches with more of our athletically inclined guests. If you are an intermediate trail rider & want to ride on a mostly moss-laden, double track loop with a forest canopy that has access to Lizard Point, a remote beach where the Orca rub, why not consider doing a “guided tour”. Get on a bike & enjoy an 18 km ride, with a beautiful 12 km loop, & the “secret trail(s) to Lizard Point – a 2- 3 hour jaunt. If you are a tri-athlete, it works. Tours are available summer, holidays, & Saturdays. We push off around 1500 hours, & if you check in off the 1305 hours ferry, we can easily get the tour in before dinner. Then, it is up to you! There are two bikes, in summer three, - all have 26” wheels, 18” frames, hydraulic disc brakes, long seat tubes, & flat SPD pedals. Check it out! Frank We have 2 friendly horses grazing in the field looking out to the ocean. They are retired from riding. Massage therapist available.

Arrange a guided day of World Class Salmon and Halibut fishing or bring your own boat and adventure, explore and fish the vibrant West Coast waters and Beaches. Anchor in one of many marine parks in the area and watch the Sea Otters frolic or capture a Humpback breaching as is frequently seen in the Esperanza Inlet. Pr-awning, clamming, and oysters are also near by for that fresh seafood meal that can only be experienced on the west coast. Hiking is also a great way to spend a day or two as there are many local trails one of which reaches the beautiful swimming holes on the Zeballos river. Maybe even find a Nugget left over from the Gold mining days of the Thirty's and forties.               Beautiful and comfortable beach cottage in Quatsino Sound on the northwest side of Vancouver Island. Accessable by a 15 minute water taxi ride from Coal Harbor, which is 20 minutes from Port Hardy. The view is stunning of the Sound. West Coast kelp beds, and small islands dot the view. Inside the main floor are two bedrooms with single beds. Upstairs is a bedroom with a queen. Gourmet kitchen with Wolf commerical stove. High speed satellite internet. Handcrafted 1930s home was a wedding gift to daughter from a master cabinet maker. Next to the famous Eagle Manor Resort. Floating dock in front of house ready for your boat. Quatsino Sound is the largest inlet on Vancouver Island, located at the NW corner, it has one town, Coal Harbor, and two hamlets, Quatsino and Winter Harbor. Quatsino has a permanent population of about 50 people, mostly retired fishermen and loggers, as well as the owners of several fishing lodges. The area is pristine and wildlife rich - sea otters, orcas, humpbacks, and seals are abundant. Quatsino faces south on the north side of the sound and has a 5 km well kept road that connects the residents to each other, a school, post office, historic church and government wharf. A walking trail leads to a nearby freshwater lake that offers good trout fishing. Supplies and shopping are a 15 minute boat ride away at Coal Harbor and then on to Port Hardy, a 20 minute ride on paved road, the largest town on the North Island. A water taxi service is run out of Coal Harbor, but the owners can arrange transportation from both the Port Hardy airport (if you fly from Vancouver) or Coal Harbor (if you drive).

There is a shared public laundry downstairs. Port McNeill is the closest town (15 miles)(24 km) for grocery shopping. Getting AroundEach unit has one parking space if you have a rental car. There is no public transportation here to the Cove other than private taxi's. There is a Greyhound Bus that runs from Pt. McNeill down island, but no stops here in the Cove. Other Things to NoteOur unit is upstairs. No elevators or ramps. Not geared for disabled persons. You can purchase internet through Ragged Edge.
