The SpaceThis small hay farm is nestled near the base of the Siskiyou Mountains in a beautiful country setting yet close in. Two large ponds surrounded by old weeping willows and other mature shade trees provide a tranquil setting for strolling or relaxing in Adirondack chairs with a good book. The farm is walking distance to the quaint village of Talent and easy access from Interstate 5. It's just minutes to downtown Ashland, Medford and Jacksonville. For those traveling with horses, we offer an arena and pasture plus quality grass hay. The fully licensed bed and breakfast suite is in the main house yet is very private with an adjacent living area and opens onto a private deck where breakfast is served during the warmer months. We use eggs from our free roaming hens and organic produce right from the farm when in season. We cater to vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free diets. We also offer a vacation rental with kitchenette in a separate structure (see our Shady Grove Farm - Studio listing). Although growing hay is our business, the animals are our love. Shady Grove is a sanctuary for rescued animals that have been abused or neglected. While Talent has several good restaurants and coffee shops, a Friday evening outdoor market, a winery, plus its own Camelot Theater hosting top notch plays, the surrounding area offers many adventures including the Shakespeare Festival, the Britt Music Festival, hiking, wine tasting, rafting, skiing, fishing, and easy day trips to several national parks including Crater Lake, the Redwoods and Oregon Caves. Guest AccessThe bed and breakfast area is separate from the host's living area which adds a great deal of privacy, especially since there is only one room in the main house. Guests have access to a living area with fireplace, the dining room, and a private deck off the suite. The hot tub is available to guests, as is lounging around the swimming pool. Unfortunately, swimming is not allowed as the pool doesn't meet all state requirements. Interaction with GuestsWe are very respectful of our guests privacy but also enjoy conversation when initiated. The NeighborhoodThe area is a mix of small and medium sized farms. A frequent comment is that the farm is in such a beautiful rural location, but yet is so close to everything. Being at the base of the Siskiyou mountains, in just 10 minutes one can be at a play in Ashland or hiking up Wagner Butte. Getting AroundThe hamlet of Talent is within walking distance where there is regular bus service. Other Things to NoteThe vast majority of the time it is super quiet here at Shady Grove Farm, but because it's an agricultural area, there may be some minor noise associated with farming activities such as hay cutting, harvesting, roosters crowing off in the distance, etc. It's infrequent and it's typically much quieter than in town, be we want to let you know you could occasionally hear more than birds chirping. You may occasionally hear the sounds of tractors cutting hay, a rooster crowing off in the distance, or other sounds associated with agriculture, but generally it's super quiet here at the farm.

The SpaceThis charming large wall tent has mostof the amenities of a regular room, yet it is "glamping," or glamorous camping. The memory foam queen bed is super comfy, and the hid-a-bed couch pulls out to accommodate extra people. It has electricity and furnishings to supply all your needs, including soft terry robes and flip flops for the outdoor bathhouse. Fresh linens and towels are also supplied. Outdoor furniture includes, chairs, a picnic table under cover and a cooler. Bring your own picnic breakfast, lunch and dinner. We provide a camp stove, coffee pot, cups, and compostable paper plates and flatware. Please note: this IS camping, and there are certain sounds from nature as well as farming practices. You may hear a rooster crowing in the background or geese flying into the pond or hay being baled. Yet most of the time it is very peaceful. Guest AccessWifi is available at the bunkalo. Two coffee shops with wifi are within walking distance as well. Interaction with GuestsWe let our guests determine this. The NeighborhoodWe're blessed to be in a beautiful country setting but so close to the little town of Talent. We love Talent! Other Things to NoteThere is a fan inside for the hot summer nights. There is no heat in the cooler months but we do provide lots of blankets and wood for the fire pit (except during fire season).

The SpaceThis is a lovely new home. The downstairs has a full kitchen, eating nook, spacious living room with a vaulted ceiling, french doors and comfortable couches for lounging and looking at mountain views. There is a TV available for streaming shows or movies if you bring your laptop or tablet. Guest AccessGuests have access through the front door. Interaction with GuestsI've lived in the Rogue Valley for 18 years and have extensive knowledge about sites and activities and am happy to share this knowledge with you. I'm very friendly and outgoing. I love telling people about this great valley that I call home. I keep a horse at a barn minutes from my house and would enjoy showing her off to kids or horse lovers. The NeighborhoodMy home is in a new neighborhood just 5 miles from downtown Ashland. Every room in the house has great views of the surrounding mountains. I love being so close to town and yet minutes away from the barn where I keep my pony. Paschal Winery is located less than a mile from my house and has the most beautiful tasting room in the valley with floor to ceiling windows. My guests are eligible for a free tasting or a discount per glass. Getting AroundThere is public transit. I can provide additional information if needed. It's a straight shot to Ashland or Medford. A bike path also makes it easy to zip into town while getting exercise. Other Things to NoteI'm able to offer a few treats to my favorite places, including a complimentary wine tasting at lovely Paschal Vineyards and Winery less than a mile from my home and a card valid for 20% off any service at Ashland's best spa - The Blue Giraffe.

The SpaceLocated in the foothills above Talent, the Hat Ranch offers beautiful views, seasonal harvests, and quick access to the Bear Creek Valley. We are 15 minutes from downtown Ashland and Shakespeare Theaters, 5 minutes from Talent, and 20 minutes from the middle of Medford. Our spacious porch, outfitted with numerous chairs, invites you to enjoy the distant view, daily visits from neighborhood deer and a host of birds, flitting through the garden. The garden is best described as a Pollinator Food Forest. The notion of Food Forest Design was introduced to me through readings and discussions with friends regarding Permaculture. The concept recognizes the importance of integrating relationships between trees, shrubs and ground covers in the layout of your plantings. To this we add honey bees and a pinch of black tail deer, and "voila"::::>you have a Pollinator Food Forest. Flowering trees are a must: apples, pears, plums. Shrubs and vines take up the middle: grapes, black berries, flowering hedges to name a few. And finally, both last & first, are the ground covers: clovers, mints, and all the crazy grasses. This mix of plants: trees, shrubs, vines, & ground covers; provides nourishment and protection for honey bees, deer, and the likes of you and me. Guest AccessGuests have access to the kitchen, laundry, yard, living room, bathroom and beautiful views from the front porch. The bathroom you will use is shared with two other members of the household. Interaction with GuestsWe seem to get to know folks in the kitchen. Nothing like a full belly. Sometimes we provide a simple breakfast; and we can potluck, or prepare meals separately for the remainder. Whatever is convenient. You are invited to use the kitchen. We'll show you around. There are many places to explore at the Hat Ranch. You will most likely be greeted at least once by Daisy, a blue healer mix doggie who is currently residing on our land with her person. Introductions are always in order and pave the path to good inter species relationships, with her and all the other creatures in residence here. The NeighborhoodIt is quiet. Most days you cannot hear the freeway. There is a ridge between the Hat Ranch and the Interstate (Yes!). Homes in the neighborhood tend to occupy 5 acres. Wildlife is abundant. Getting AroundA car is good. City buses use Highway 99 as their primary corridor, which is about 3 miles from us. Unlike big cities, our public buses only run until about 8 pm, and NOT on the weekends. So careful planning is essential if you want to use RVTD.

The SpaceYou'll have the entire 2nd floor to yourselves. Kitchen and laundry available downstairs, shared with the owners - a couple working from home with kids all grown and gone. The view out the balcony is of nearby hills and our front yard. There are additional outdoor areas, if you want to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. Central A/C as well as an additional window unit will keep you cool so you sleep well. There is a mini-fridge and small microwave in the room, to allow you to enjoy leftovers whenever you like :) Also, we provide a small coffee pot and complementary coffee grounds. Drinking glasses, towels and soap are provided, too. Due to dietary preferences, we cook all our meals at home, so we will want to coordinate kitchen use, if you want to use it. But there are plenty of restaurants in the area, too. Guest AccessEntry is through the house, but you have your own sitting area, and there is WiFi in the house if you want to watch Netflix on your laptops. Any other areas are open for sharing - we'll just work it out! We are quiet and easygoing, so it shouldn't be difficult. Interaction with GuestsMeesha is available most of the time, in the afternoons and evenings, and Scott is also happy to help if he isn't doing a Gem Show during your stay. Meesha is a night-person, so late check-ins shouldn't be a problem, just communicate your needs to us. We enjoy music, so - if you are so inclined - bring along your instruments or borrow one of our guitars so we can have a little impromptu music... If you're planning a surprise for your Honey, let us know ahead of time and we can pick up flowers or wine to greet you on your arrival. Anything else you need, feel free to ask. Check-in and out is flexible, unless we have guests coming the next night. If so, we need time to prepare for them, so ask for check-out around noon. If not, let us know if you want a later check out. Since Meesha is up late at night, late check-ins are fine. The NeighborhoodTalent is a sleeper community for Ashland, due to more attainable real estate prices. It's very friendly, with many people walking Talent Avenue on their way to the park or dog park. It's quiet, which makes it great for sleep! But we're only 4 miles outside of Ashland, so all the fun is close by. Getting AroundWe have plenty of street parking, right in front of the house. There is a bus that goes to Ashland (or Medford) that stops a few blocks away, on the corner of Arnos & Talent Ave. Talent Ave is very easy to find from I-5 and finding your way is simple from here. Of course, we are happy to provide directions! Other Things to NoteWe do have a very shy cat, who is not allowed upstairs. As long as you keep the door closed, she shouldn't bother you. We keep her out of that area in consideration of any guests who might have allergies. Meesha has insomnia so tends to be a night owl; if you can please remember that in the mornings, we'd sure appreciate it. Thanks!

The SpaceThe Garage Room, as we call it, is very comfy. The 200 square foot room is somewhat secluded from the rest of the house, and is very quiet and peaceful because of that, not that our home is loud. After our older kids moved out we used this space as a den for a while, but decided to list it here as we weren't using it much anymore. There is a space heater and extra blankets if it's chilly and the homes AC system keeps it comfy in the summer. In the room you will find an electric kettle, coffee, tea, and hot cocoa. There is an Ethernet cable or WiFi for internet and a 40 inch TV that gets a few local channels. We have an HDMI cable if you want to connect to the TV with a laptop or other devise. A DVD/Blu-ray player is available by request only. There is a sink and mirror in the room with electrical outlets nearby for a hair dryers etc. The closet along one wall has hangers and a fridge for your use. Guest AccessYou will have access to our kitchen and fridge space is available too. There is a mini fridge in the rooms closet as well. We have a nice living room if you want a couch to lounge on. Feel free to use the washer and dryer as needed. The bathroom is in the main part of the house and has a tub and shower. If the weather is nice, you're welcome to enjoy our fenced back yard. Our kitchen is used everyday and is well stocked with utensils from the standard to a candy thermometer. Most any pot or pan needed will be found and if your not seeing it just ask. Interaction with GuestsWe are at home outside of work hours and in and out on the weekends. We cook almost every meal at home so you will likely see, talk, and interact with us some but it's up to you. The room is setup so that if you don't want to see us you don't need to. The room is very private, we won't know when you come and go if you use the private entrance. We do have a six year old. He is very personable and friendly. He won't bother you, especially in your room, but you might want to lock the bathroom door. We own an auto repair shop in Ashland, and Bow was born and raised in the area so he knows a lot about possible day trips etc. Heather works for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in the costume department and has a library of costume resource books if you're interested. The NeighborhoodOur neighborhood was built about ten years ago and is made up of three cul de sacs, we are in the first one. There is a great city part two blocks from the house. There you will find tennis courts, a basket ball court, and several soccer and base ball fields. There is also a small water play area at the park for younger kids and a nice play area too. If you want to go for a short walk to downtown you will find Downtown Coffee, a great place to grab a muffin and latte. Getting AroundWe are two short blocks to the RVTD bus line. It will take you to Medford or Ashland depending on what side of the street you catch it. We are close to the Rouge Valley Greenway if you're into cycling or want to go for a run down by Bear Creek. Downtown Ashland is about 4 miles and Medford is about 8 miles. Other Things to NoteWe have two cats. They are indoor/outdoor cats but they do not have access to this space. One of them, Snow, is particularly shy. You may not see him at all. Jake, the other cat, is more friendly, but has never gotten brave enough to explore the garage.
