The SpaceThis small, bungalow style house was built in the 1950s. It's located in a family oriented neighborhood with a mixture of property owners and renters. Ideally located near the popular midtown and downtown areas of Tallahassee, FSU and FAMU campuses are also nearby. There are a few restaurants and cafes within easy walking distance. Be sure to go to Uptown Cafe. Breakfast is served all day long!
The lively center of midtown is within walking distance for the hearty and within five minutes by vehicle. There you'll find many restaurants, bars, music, art and my favorite coffee shop, Red Eye. Just minutes from downtown and the capitol, it is the perfect location for easy access to activities in the heart of the city. If you're coming for a university football game, my home is 15 minutes away from either stadium if there's little traffic. Plan for a lot of traffic!
My home can accommodate up to four guests depending on comfort needs and sleeping arrangements. There is one, real, queen sized bed with a tempurpedic mattress. Most people find it to be very comfortable. There's also a blow up mattress that can accommodate up to two people. Though not a real bed, it is quite comfortable.
The master bedroom is quite large and looks out over a lush backyard. There is an office/TV room. The third bedroom will remain locked during your stay.
There is one bathroom with a walk-in shower, only. There is an outside shower and bathtub, both with hot water, for the adventurous! Complete privacy cannot be 100% guaranteed. The house has an attached garage with a laundry area. The washer and dryer are available for guests staying one week or more.
The kitchen has been remodeled and the bathroom completely renovated from the original design. The living room and dinning room are combined making for a large open space with windows at both ends; lots of light if you want it. There are hardwood floors throughout the home. The backyard is very private with a small deck and brick patio.
A security system, WiFi and cable television are available for your use. For avid television aficionados, please be aware that there a very limited number of channels available.
Goodwood Museum and Gardens is just across the street; a lovely place to take walks. If you need public transportation, it's right up the block.
Please note that a cat has been in the residence recently; something to be aware of if you have allergies or other sensitivities. It is also possible that a previous guest brought a pet for their stay. Though I work to leave ample time between guests, in an abundance of caution, if you have related concerns, be certain to check with me about your needs.
For those who may wish to bring your pet to my home, you will need to talk with me about this before making a reservation. If the "instant book" feature is on, please use the "contact host" feature to reach out to me to talk about bringing your pet, before making a reservation. Guest AccessYou will have the house to yourself and the use of all rooms with the exception of one bedroom which will remain locked and unoccupied. The small deck, patio, outdoor shower, tub and the whole of the private backyard are also available to you. A large vegetable garden dominates the front yard. Help yourself to a tomato or two and by all means, eat those cucumbers! Interaction with GuestsYour privacy is important to me, so once we meet at or near check-in time, I likely won't see you again. Someone will always be available by phone or text should a need arise. I am happy to make recommendations for just about any activity that interests you. The NeighborhoodCapital Hills was established in the 1940s. There is an active neighborhood watch program and an association which sponsors block parties and other events, from time to time. The association does not dictate home style, color schemes, landscaping, etc. If you're looking for consistency in this regard, you'll find this neighborhood to be more offbeat and less manicured. It is a well established, old Tallahassee neighborhood where some residents have lived since its inception. It is safe and because it is so centrally located, growing in popularity. We benefit from a diverse group of residents. The small homes generally appeal to those who prefer character over new construction, the accompanying larger footprint and predictability.
There are a few small restaurants within walking distance. Every other amenity you can think of is within a 5 - 10 minute drive. Getting AroundPublic transportation is available less than one block away. There is off street parking; enough to accommodate two cars. The best way to get to and from the airport is by taxi (and now Uber) if you don't have a car. Other Things to NoteThe prices listed here are for routine stays, only. If you are inquiring about the use of my home for a film, there will be an extra charge and additional steps to take before I will approve a reservation request. A standard hold harmless agreement must be signed in this case. Please do not use the "instant book" feature for such reservations.
