The SpaceHosts Ben & Jeanne invite you to their beautifully designed log cabin in the Smokies. Set on 13 private acres, the cabin offers solitude and an unsurpassed view over Chilhowee Lake (the southern border of the national park), the western peaks of the national park, and the entrance to the #1 bike & sports-car destination in the US - the "Tail of the Dragon." We have what we believe to be the best hot tub view in the Smokies. Our 7-person spa (holds five comfortably) overlooks the mountains and lake with a 180 degree panoramic view. When you see the pics you'll understand why we chose the beautiful location. The hot tub is NOT at the cabin but is located adjacent to our house. When the cover is raised it offers privacy as the cover blocks our view of the hot tub. We use the hot tub also, but we always defer to guests during your visit. It is open to our guests 24/7. Need a breather from the hectic pace of life? Spend some down-time out roasting S'Mores under the stars. There's almost no light pollution here. In fact, on a clear night, you can easily see the Milky Way with the naked eye. Or, spend a little time challenging each other to a a card game or an old-fashioned evening of board games. Don't miss the chance to sip hot chocolate or coffee on the deck as you watch the sun slowly rise over the peaks of the Smoky Mountain National Park. If you want the hustle of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge or get worried if you're not around the corner from a Walmart, this isn't the place for you. But, if you long for peace, quiet, nature, and the outdoors, you're in the right place! You will have exclusive use of the entire guest cabin as we only rent to one person/group at a time. The cabin sleeps up to 10 people. The master bedroom sleeps 2 in a queen bed. The loft offers 4 twin beds and an optional twin roll-away cot. A twin size daybed & a double futon with extra-thick mattress in the central room offers sleeping for 3 more. A portable crib is available upon request. The cabin features 2 full baths, a small but very well furnished kitchen (full size appliances, all cookware, dishes, etc), a vaulted central room that opens to a sleeping loft, and a private queen bedroom in the back. Enjoy the unparalleled view from an 8' x 32' covered deck complete with ceiling fans, a log swing, and several log rockers. The cabin & home are located 1 1/4 miles up a maintained gravel road behind a locked gate so you are assured privacy and security. Any car can drive the road (4WD is NOT needed), but motorcyclists should trailer bikes up the mountain. In the unlikely event of winter weather, we will plow the road with our tractor or pick you up in our AWD vehicle. Snow rarely stays on the road for more than a day. We happily welcome well-behaved pets. A nominal one-time $20 pet fee (not per day, just once for the entire stay) for indoor pets may be paid upon your arrival. We ask that you include children over age 3 in your reservation guest count as we prepare beds, linens, breakfast foods, Smores, snacks, and allow cleaning time at the end of your stay based upon the total number of guests including children. There is no charge for babies sleeping in a crib. Just let us know so we can put up the portable crib. RATES: $110/nt year round $25 cleaning fee $5 ex person fee for over 2 guests (no charge for children under age 2). **Airbnb service fees are added to your reservation total. We don't know the amount as it varies and Airbnb sets these fees. $20 pet fee paid in cash on arrival 14.75% sales & lodging tax paid in cash on arrival. Airbnb service fees are not taxed. Guest AccessAmenities include Dish Network satellite TV, limited high-speed wi-fi (signal normally reaches the deck of the cabin but not inside due to the distance from the router), plenty of parking, linens, 4 kayaks with paddle gear, tubes for tubing down Abrams Creek or the Little River (in Townsend), floats to take out swimming in the lake, a corn-hole game, a frisbee golf goal & discs, hiking nearby, and an outdoor firepit complete with marshmallow roasting sticks and free firewood. We stock the cabin with many cooking essentials such as seasonings, oil, sugar, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, coffee creamer, condiments such as mayo and ketchup, and a selection of snacks. Enjoy a variety of Jeanne's homemade jellies. You will need to pick up groceries before you arrive as the closest grocery store is 17 miles away and only 1 small seasonal restaurant (BBQ & burgers, open April-Oct) is 6 miles away. You are the ONLY guests in the cabin. There are no other cabins or homes nearby except ours which is about 300 feet up the hill from the guest cabin. We are blessed to have a view of nothing but nature--in every direction :) None of that log-cabin-on-top-of-the-next-cabin like the big rental complexes. Interaction with GuestsOur home is located just up the mountain from the cabin and we love to host guests and share the many local hidden gems of the Smokies. We always greet our guests personally and are available for questions or just to sit down for a friendly chat, but we make sure you have privacy. Feel free to walk up the hill to our house or give us a call anytime. Oh, and by the way, our home is an octagonal glass house perched atop the pinnacle of the mountain, so don't miss a visit to take in the view! The NeighborhoodWe're about 3 miles from the western edge of the Smoky Mountain National Park. It's very wooded and serene with no civilization within eyesight. Distance to nearby attractions: US 129 / "Tail of the Dragon" - 15 minutes on the TN side Foothills Parkway (scenic highway) - 10 minutes Fishing/Kayaking on Chilhowee Lake or Tellico Lake - three boat docks 10-15 minutes away Hiking - nearest National Park trail entrances at Abrams Creek, about 20 minutes away Cades Cove - 8 miles as the crow flies, but 50 minutes as the car must drive :( Townsend - 40 minutes Gatlinburg - 1 hr 15 min Pigeon Forge - 1 hr Maryville - 30 minutes Knoxville airport - 35 minutes Knoxville city - 50 minutes UT Knoxville - 45 minutes Getting AroundThere is no public transit. You will need a car. Other Things to NoteCALENDAR: Our calendar is always 100% current so you can be assured that if a date is open, it IS available. We believe in honest pricing so we offer the same reasonable rate year round, even on premium times. To keep our rates low, we do not offer discounts. If you have a specific date in mind, we encourage you to book as soon as you finalize your plans. It's not uncommon for every day of the month to be reserved (definitely keeps us hopping to get the cabin cleaned for the next guests). We suggest you reserve weekends and holidays well in advance. With the Airbnb reservation system, an "inquiry" does NOT hold the requested dates. MINIMUM STAYS: 2 night minimum 3 night minimum stay on holidays (Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving, Christmas) (*Occasionally we have a 1-night stay opening between longer reservations and may make these available. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate large groups for one-night stays due to cleaning time.) TAXES OUR POSTED RATES DO NOT INCLUDE TAXES. Local taxes are 9.75% sales tax plus 5% lodging tax. When you arrive, please be prepared to pay the 14.75% tax in cash. The Airbnb service fee is not taxed. Thus, if your reservation is $500 and Airbnb charged a $50 booking fee, you would pay $550 when you make the reservation. When you arrive, you will owe tax in cash of $(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)% of $500). FYI - Guests sometimes ask why taxes are not included in our listed rates. Airbnb does not yet offer us the option to separate taxes from the listed rates so that guests can pay taxes with their reservation. In some areas, local laws require Airbnb to collect and remit taxes directly to local governments but this has not yet occurred in our area. We will be happy to discuss the tax implications of this, but for the time being, we have set our policy that we will follow all legal laws to collect and remit sales taxes as required. The most efficient and cost effective way to do this is to collect the tax in cash when guests arrive. Thanks for not complaining--it's not so much fun for us to file taxes every month & quarter, but we do because it's honest and, of course, required by law.

The SpaceWhat we lack in fancy amenities, we make up for in character! There are hardwood floors in the main living area and bedrooms and vinyl floors in the kitchen and bath. The living room has a vaulted ceiling with a ceiling fan. You can relax with DISH TV, but there is no internet, WiFi, or cell phone connectivity. The kitchen has a stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, and microwave. Guest AccessThe whole cabin, with a full kitchen, will be available for your use. Interaction with GuestsMy brother or I will be available by cellphone at all times. The NeighborhoodOnly minutes from Chilhowee Lake and the world-famous Tail of the Dragon! Getting AroundPublic transportation is not available. This is a rural area with plenty of parking. Other Things to NoteThere is no garage, so your car or motorcycle will be unsecured and open to the elements. Also, as stated previously, there is no internet, WiFi, or cell phone service. We need to emphasize that this is a rustic location. You may have to kill a bug or two...or even a spider. If you're at all freaked out about that thought, this is probably not the place for you. Additionally, there is abundant wildlife in the area. You might see deer or wild turkeys from the porch, especially in the morning and evening. You might also have a visit from a raccoon or possum. I've even heard there's the occasional bear in the area, although I've never seen one. Some people love this idea, some people hate it. You know which type of person you are, so please don't put yourself through a sleepless night. Having said all this, if anything larger than a spider gets into the house, we will certainly come over and deal with it!

The SpaceThis is our brand new baby! It's a 2016 Retro Whitewater 176S camper with slide out. Check out the cute interior pics--Lovin' it!!! Sleeping accommodations include a queen bed with 3" memory foam topper (sleeps 2) plus a dinette that converts to a bed (sleeps 1 shorter adult or 2 kids). The RV has a wet bath with toilet & shower. It's small but efficient and private. The slide-out dinette makes the interior of the camper seem quite spacious even though it's not a larger camper (19'). Super cozy for 2 but comfortable for 3. The kitchen area is well designed and includes a 2-eye propane stovetop, a large sink, a microwave, separate refrigerator and freezer, all cooking pots & pans needed, plates/cups/silverware, a small coffee pot, plus an outdoor propane camp stove if you want to enjoy the smell of bacon frying outside in the morning (ahhh...). An outdoor camp table and camp chairs are supplied. All linens and towels are provided. The camper is VERY well stocked with everything you need--down to flashlights and outdoor lantern. And if for some reason you need something that's not in there, just ask us. We have plenty of extra camping gear. The camper is stocked with essentials including coffee, tea, creamer, sugar, mayo, mustard, ketchup, salt/pepper/selected seasonings. The camper will be set up in a semi-private area on our property (not visible from our house or the rental cabin we have on the other side of our land). It is near our work-in-progress vintage 1962 Yellowstone travel trailer. You will have a very large private deck next to the Yellowstone trailer. It has a great view! The camper has water, electric, A/C and heat. It is not necessary to bring extra drinking water. Please note that the camper is SO new that we're still awaiting its arrival. Thus, we can only show the stock photos of the interior. The deck pictures were taken while it was under construction. You can see the vintage 1962 Yellowstone work-in-progress camper in one of the photos. It is NOT the camper you will stay in because it's not quite ready for guests yet (the kitchen and bath aren't quite done right now). However, the deck shown is the private deck you will have access to. It's right next to the temporary location of our new Retro camper (the one you're renting here). Guest AccessGuests may access the shared hot tub immediately adjacent to our house. We have an Airbnb cabin located on another region of our 12 acre property ("Away From It All In The Smokies") that will share access to the hot tub. Otherwise, everything else is completely private. Interaction with GuestsWe live on the property in our own home. Since we work full time jobs, we're in and out a good bit but always on call if we're not nearby. Feel free to sit and chat a while or just enjoy total peace & quiet--it's up to you :) The NeighborhoodThe VIEW, the VIEW, the VIEW! We may be in the boonies, but we're right in the heart of outdoor Mecca. Located just 3 miles from the western edge of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, our property is very convenient to lakes, the Tail of the Dragon, the scenic Foothills Pkwy, and a number of national park hiking trails. Getting AroundYou will need a car. There is no public transit anywhere nearby. Other Things to NoteYou will receive a gate code to our property approximately 1 day before you arrive. Local taxes of 14.75% are INCLUDED in the listed rate.
