The SpaceOur brand new Bungalow has one double bed and one single bed.
You can watch Yasur Volcano's magnificant 'fireworks' display from your bed at night or from our balcony out the front (which has 2 sofas and a table.)
If you are looking for a full cultural experience, here on Tanna Island, look no further.
Our bungalow is set in the hills
just above a tradition and custom running village. Everything here, including the restaurants, bungalows, showers and toilets are made local style so please do not expect 'resort' or western style accommodations.
Our bungalow and village offer you a full traditional way of life and living.
Guest AccessShared toilet and shower.
The toilet is a long drop, western stlyr and shower is simple... sometimes warm, sometimes cool. (We are working towards full hot water showers)
There is no kitchen in the bungalow.
We have our own restaurant close by serving island style and western cuisine.
We provide laundry service or a place where you can handwash yourself.
Our village offers many interesting tours including custom dancing, a cannibal show, Yasur volcano, mountain hiking, hot springs, Nazareth waterfall and tours to Port Resolution.
It has 5 restaurants, handcrafts for sale and a general store.
People here are very friendly and welcoming.
Feel free to walk around our village and explore our expansive organic gardens and orchards. Interaction with GuestsWe are close by and here to help you have a most enjoyable stay at our Bungalow and in our village (which I'd love to show you round) We can arrange tours, transport and picks ups for you and will try to answer any questions you may have.
We very hospitable and friendly yet, very happy to give you your space too.
If there are any special celebrations happening at Imaio, we will gladly invite you along. The NeighborhoodImaio meaning 'My Home' village is next to Yasur Volcano, the most accessible, active volcano in the world.
We, the Karumene meaning 'The Forgotten Tribe' are the traditional custodians of Yasur.
Come and experience a truly unique holiday and cultural experience with us. Getting AroundWe can arrange transport for you very easily to and from Town, White Grass airport, the ferry (which cost 5,000vt for the car, one way) or anywhere else you would like to go.
Imaio proudly has it's own air strip.
Instead of flying to Tanna on domestic airlines and taking the 2 hour journey here by car, each way, we can arrange for you to be flown in from Port Vila on a private plane, round the volcano and landed on our ash plains air stripe at our doorstep. (This costing the same as the domestic flights if there's a few people on board. Min 4 person, yet please inquire, as we can possibly match you a flight with others) Best way to get here and leave.
We can arrange 'taxi' cars for you anytime.
There are utes that pick up people round the island, like a bus service. You hail them down from the side of the road, most places.
Tell them where you want to go to Imaio (Meaning 'My Home') which is at the base of the volcano.
All the drivers (and most locals) know where we are.
Remember to ask how much they will charge you before jumping on. Pay when you get dropped off.
This is cheaper than arranging a 'taxi' (private car) yet you can, at times be waiting for sometime before one passes, specially over this side of the island. Sundays is not a good day for catching the ute 'buses' as most people are at church and stay home. Other Things to NoteWe can cook and serve delicious meals for you for $9, lunch or dinner and arrange packed lunches for your day trips and tours for $8 (AUD)
There is limited power and no Wifi access here. (We are working on providing this in the future.)
Please bring enough cash (vatu) with you as there is not money machines on the Island.
