The SpaceThis beautiful and historic Casita and Schoolhouse Combo is perfect for large ski parties, families traveling together, and retreats. Rich in history, this home was originally Saint Teresa's Mission in the late 1800's. It became part of the Mabel Dodge Luhan Estate in the 1930's. During that time influential guests, including Ansel Adams and D.H. Lawrence were inspired to create, cavort and exchange intellectual ideas at the many salons hosted here. Victor Higgins, member of the infamous Taos Society of Artists, housed his studio here. The home is presently a Registered Historic Landmark. Bordered by sacred Taos Pueblo land, the views are vast and the light ever changing. Georgia O'Keefe was inspired to paint her famous cross series upon seeing the light play on the old morada which sits behind the house. The newly restored casita has rich, fine furnishings and a soulful feel that welcomes and nourishes. The 1850’s schoolhouse where the Saint Teresa Mission nuns taught the children of Taos Pueblo has also been completely restored with modern amenities and a reverence for its history. The master bedroom in the Casita features a Tempurpedic king sized bed dressed with luxurious linens, a TV with DVD library and an historic book collection. A full bath with large closet, writing desk and concealed washer and dryer combo is directly off the master bedroom. The Casita has a cozy living room with a kiva fireplace surrounded by cushy velveteen sofas, one of which is a queen sleeper. Its fully equipped vintage kitchen includes a quaint dining area and settee which converts to a sleeper. The Schoolhouse has a plush king bed with premium linens and cushy full sized futon. It has a kitchenette with hot plate, mini-fridge, sink and a flickering flame gas wood stove. A short, portal covered outdoor stroll to private showerhouse/wc. Portal covered sitting area with views of sculpture garden and fountain. Open air courtyard with dining area and hot tub surrounding a gorgeous Japanese Maple Tree. Rooms adorned with artwork by area artists. All art and sculpture available for sale. The garden courtyard surrounds a Japanese Maple tree and has a kiva style BBQ grill, hot tub and large dining table.

Everything is sanitized completely between guests - including ALL linens washed (even mattress-pad, comforter, all blankets, pillows, etc) - even if it hasn't been used. We even clean the carpets. Comestibles not included. Mini-shampoo/conditioner, toothpaste, soap, and handsoap ARE provided. Gated and locked property - open and close gate when arriving or leaving. No shared space with host, but we are happy to say hi if we are around, and will likely share some garden magic. :-) Interaction with GuestsUsually meet guests on arrival, show them into the space, and after that just text or message to check in. I'm always available by phone for urgent needs. :-) The NeighborhoodQuiet, rural, pastoral, green and lush in summer, close to town, great neighbors. 4x4 not needed for winter - since we are close to town, the roads are all flat around here and kept cleared by the town/county. Getting AroundThe Taos Chile Line is the local bus service around town and to the Taos Ski Valley 9/10mile to nearest stop. There is also the "Blue Bus" which offers daily regional transportation, and the Rail Runner train, which goes from Santa Fe to Albuquerque. Taos is beautiful for biking, but has few bike paths. The speed limits are rather low, however, and drivers are courteous to pedestrians and cyclists. Other Things to NoteProperty is gated and locked, manually operated - necessitating getting out of the car to unlock, open, and close the gate whenever arriving or leaving. This could be difficult for individuals with mobility limitations, but is necessary for security (and to keep the dogs from leaving).

The SpaceAir conditioned!! All of our guests have loved Casa Paloma and many come back as regulars. Often they'll tell me that they loved being in the casa so much that they'd eat at home and relax at home instead. Guests also love the numerous artwork throughout the casa, many done by members of my family (wonderful artists!). The reviews in our Guestbook say it all and hopefully we'll soon have reviews at Airbnb! Guest AccessGuest have the casa to themselves as well as the private backyard with it's dining area and private hot tub. Interaction with GuestsI have met and chatted with many of our guests, but I also leave guests their privacy. If I'm in town and they wish me to stop by I do, but if they want to have a quiet relaxing private time, that's fine too. The NeighborhoodI love that our neighborhood is in the center of town, yet we're on a cul-de-sac so it's very quiet and the condo complex is pretty private without a "gated" feeling. You can walk down the road to the Baskin Robbins which many of our guests do - they take an evening stroll and back for an ice cream treat. Getting AroundYou can walk to the main street which has public transportation, but Taos is pretty rural so a car is recommended for visiting all the sights around Toas like the Rio Grande Gorge bridge and Taos Pueblo and the Ski Valley.

It's all about location--you're within a short walk of the plaza yet in a very private and secluded getaway. Many guests remark that they are able to park their cars in the off-street area and do all their exploring by foot. There's a larger grocery just a block away--even a pizza takeaway within walking distance! For skiers, the Taos Ski Valley shuttle stops a short block away on Paseo del Pueblo Sur. If you're visiting in the winter, we have a small and extremely efficient Norwegian wood burning stove that adds to the ambiance as well as the coziness of the apartment. The bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed (new mattress as of April 2014) yet is large enough to accommodate suitcases without feeling cramped. The bathroom is small but very convenient with a large walk in shower with Talavera tile. The kitchen is fully furnished so you can decide whether to take advantage of Taos' numerous first rate restaurants or stay at home and keep life simple. There's a full-size refrigerator and stove as well as the usual smaller appliances (toaster, hand mixer, blender--for the inevitable margaritas in the patio!). There is a shared washer and dryer (free of charge) just 10 yards from the apartment. In the back I have a small Tuff Shed where you can store your bikes, snow shoes, skis or excess luggage--locked and secure! Interaction with GuestsI love Taos and am always eager to share recommendations and suggestions for places to go and things to do. The NeighborhoodI love the location of the apartment because of its proximity to the plaza area. And the grassy green courtyard is a great place to relax and unwind. Getting AroundIf you bring your bikes, you can pedal all around town. Taos' answer to mass transit (the Chile Express!) stops one block from the apartment on Paseo del Pueblo Sur Other Things to NoteWe require a 2 night minimum. In non-peak periods we will attempt to accommodate a single night stay but will require the guest to pay a cleaning fee.

The SpaceI'm energized by the creativity of architecture and interior design, so I bought a plain adobe house on a lovely street in the historic district of Taos. It took a year and we did more than restoration. We added architectural features, large windows, and modern conveniences with an eye for the beauty of Spanish colonial design. Guest AccessI love the idea that some of the adobe structures still standing in Taos were part of the making of the Wild West. Since Casa Milagro is in the heart of Taos' historic district, there is walking access to museums, restaurants, shops and parks. The town is an all season destination. We enjoy summer and winter sports here with its moderate summers and ski-worthy winters very close to four ski resorts. Besides that, there's always a festival, concert, farmers' market, or art show going on. With its relaxed pace and mountain air, it attracts artists as well as celebrities and is both restful and stimulating. The NeighborhoodCasa Milagro is on a shady street -- very peaceful and apart from traffic noise but so close to everything! A half-block walk gets you to famous Michael's Bakery (even Bikers stop here), the Dragonfl, an adorable gourmet restaurant (my favorite) and the Taos Ale House. Another half block and you'll get to three Art Galleries, the Fechin Institute and Taos Art Museum, and a few steps away, the Kit Carson Park with its historic cemetery. Walk another block and you've come to the Governor Bent House and Museum, Lamberts' upscale restaurant, the John Dunn Plaza with its little boutiques, ice cream and chocolate shops. Then there you are at the historic Taos Plaza. Getting AroundIn the winter just a block from Casa Milagro, the Chile Shuttle Express leaves for Taos Ski Valley twice a day. You can ride on the Shuttle to and from your favorite slopes. What could be more convenient?

The SpaceA wonderful retreat, so close to the plaza. Get out and wander. It is a one bedroom condo best suited for two. It is very small. There is a queen size bed in the bedroom, and the second bed is a sleeper sofa in the living room. Let me repeat that--the second bed is a sleeper sofa in the living room. People have said they are both comfortable. It can work for a small family, if you don't mind being really cozy. There is a big basket of helpful information on things to do, with maps and brochures. We have done our best to fully furnish this condo for your comfort and enjoyment. The kitchen is stocked with all appliances, a four burner stove and oven, microwave, full size refrigerator. You can enjoy the remote controlled electric logs in the fireplace, without having to stay up or delay an outing, to let the fire burn out. Enjoy the private patio off the bedroom, or sit in the courtyard and listen to the fountain. If it is the snow season, build a snow man. Guest AccessYou can use the designated loading and unloading space {for 30 minutes} next to the courtyard. This makes unloading very easy. Then park in the fenced off-street parking lot. There is a free shared guest laundry. You are welcome to enjoy the courtyard with its benches and fountain. Interaction with GuestsYou can have all the privacy you want, but if you have questions or need something, I am easily available. The Internet can be spotty at times in Taos. You can always reach me by phone, but you need to bring your own cell phone. There is not a landline at the condo, and there is only wifi. The NeighborhoodThis is a quiet retreat in the heart of Taos. The tall trees, the fresh air, and quirky creative vibe just make me happy. It's easy to be yourself here, and maybe even find a better self. Getting AroundThere is a town bus system, the Chili Express, it runs up and Paseo Del Pueblo Sur and Paseo Del Pueblo Norte {same street, the main street, just south and north}. The bus also goes up and back from the Taos Ski Valley. There is also the "Big Blue Bus", everybody rides for free, that is available on some days for trips to Santa Fe and the surrounding areas. A transit service can take you to and from Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and the airport. If you have a car, there are many day trips you can make, exploring Northern New Mexico. Look in the big basket in the bedroom for many ideas on what to do and see, and transportation schedules. Other Things to NoteSometimes the traffic can be heavy, during vacation season, on the Main Street, Paseo Del Pueblo Sur/Norte. If you are heading north or south for a day excursion, such as the Rio Grand Gorge, the Earthships, north to the ski valley, or south to the wineries or rafting, you can use Salazar Rd. to bypass some of the traffic. From Sonterra condos, Salazar road is to the left (west) on Siler Rd. You can go north on the outside of the Plaza area, by turning right onto Salazar Rd., then right onto Ranchitos Rd., then left at the next signal. Simply follow it along until it reconnects with the Main Street, Paseo Del Pueblo Norte at the north end of town. Going south towards Santa Fe, Chimayo, Pilar, etc., turn left on Salazar Rd., follow it until it T-bones on Camino Del Medio, turn left and the next light is Paseo Del Pueblo Sur, where you can turn right and go south. There are maps in the basket in the bedroom not only of Taos, but the Enchanted Circle, which is the loop around Taos.

The SpaceIt's a joyful house, just 3 blocks from the Historic Taos Plaza. Your dog (well... maybe two) is welcome but please inquire about pets. The king bed is very comfy. The tall cottonwood trees in the backyard keep the house cool in summer and provide a graceful backdrop for the private hot tub. If it's too hot, we have a new A.C. Watch the stars in the private hot tub - there's a tall fence surrounding it. The high-end furniture is a suave mixing of old country charm and sophisticated comfortable furnishings designed by an award-winning designer from Paris. Cook a great meal in the big kitchen which is fully equipped, and let the dishwasher do the dishes - or walk to the wonderful restaurants nearby. The bathroom (tub and shower) has Mexican tile and hand-painted sink. The floors in the house are wood and Saltillo tile and the ceilings are wood. You'll sleep well in the King bed in the bedroom - it's very comfy. For more than two guests, there's a Queen sofa bed in the living room. The brick patio is for outdoor eating or relaxing in summertime. The gas BBQ grill is easy to use. You can enjoy a romantic weekend or longer vacation and delight in all the amenities of home in this 'magical, enchanting abode' (words of a guest.) There's a small casita in the back of the property which I sometimes rent out, but so far only fabulous people have been drawn to this property on Montoya Street. Guest AccessThe hot tub is just for you, especially wonderful after skiing and before building a fire in the Kiva fireplace (firewood and kindling supplied) Interaction with GuestsI live 35 miles away - so we probably won't meet in person but don't hesitate to call if you have any questions or comments. The NeighborhoodIt's a town neighborhood so the houses are close together. You'll love it here because you can park in the driveway and walk to the Plaza, restaurants, galleries, shops, etc. Getting AroundA bus runs occasionally so it's best to bring your car.

The SpaceOne approximately 10x12 bedroom that is usually my sewing room (and therefore has my sewing table etc). It's small, but comfortable and clean. Double/full bed that is a 8" futon mattress with memory foam topper- on the soft side- one side chair, small desk area with chair, and small closet space with hangers. The bathroom is right across the hall and is almost exclusively yours- the only time i use it is for a shower, as it currently has the only shower in the house, and I take them when guests are not around. I provide towels, and you are welcome to use the kitchen/living areas of the house- i have my own sitting area in my room in the back to be in if you like privacy. Many guests rave about my beautiful back yard/garden retreat, which includes a covered outdoor seating area, a hammock slung between apple trees, hummingbirds, flowers, patios, and a mountain view. No cable TV but 23" LCD TV is in living room has local broadcast channels, DVD/bluray, HDMI port, and can stream. Entire house has wifi internet. Please review the Amenities section- I do not provide breakfast nor other meals, but am happy to share what i have on hand, such as coffee, tea, condiments, ice, spices, and other basic items, and you are free to use the kitchen. This is my own private home and I am in it, so I need to know who you are! Please fill out your "About Me"/profile completely, provide photo, and get ID Verification, prior to requesting a reservation. This is especially important if you have no reviews yet. While filling out profile, imagine inviting a stranger into your home with you, and what you'd want to know about them. Thanks! Guest AccessOne 10x12 bedroom, one of the two bathrooms, kitchen, living/dining area, fridge, ice, TV/DVD/streaming, and outdoor areas. Full access to all kitchen appliances, utensils, and ordinary condiments. You will have a key to the house, and be free to come and go as you please. Interaction with GuestsI'm warm, relaxed, and friendly, yet quiet and private enough that i do not need to interact if it's not your preference, and myself have a very busy life, and might be out for much of your stay and/or busy with my home-based work (meaning that, while it's my pleasure to provide recommendations etc, I'm generally not available for extensive companionship). A thirty-two year resident of Taos, I'm very happy to share local knowledge of everything from great places to eat and go, local attractions, hiking trails, hot springs, skiing, etc, and am involved in/have good knowledge of the local music scene. I do work a day-job, and often have music gigs or events in the evenings. You might sometimes find me spinning yarn on the patio, or practicing guitar. The NeighborhoodIt's a typical, mixed-income, mixed-cultural, fairly quiet residential neighborhood only a block and a half from an extended commercial area that includes coffee shops, restaurants, stores, theater, banks, and bus stops, about a mile and a half from the old historic district/downtown. The homes are around 40 years old and mostly classic Southwest style: one-story, pueblo-style stucco'd residences on quarter-to-half-acre lots. Plenty of parking. Getting AroundThe NCRTD Chile Line, Taos' town public bus line, is free and operates on weekdays (not evenings or weekends) and has stop on the major street one and a half blocks away, and runs one route into downtown. There is also an express $1 shuttle bus to Taos Ski Valley during the ski season, and town busses can take bicycles. NCRTD Blue Bus- (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) it- can technically get you from Santa Fe to Taos for free on weekdays, but has a very limited and time-consuming schedule. The Taos Express from/to Santa Fe operates on weekends only, one trip a day, for $5, and there are $60-$75 (one-way) airport-type shuttles too. However, public transportation is otherwise extremely limited in rural northern NM, nonexistent on evenings and weekends, and there are no taxis nor Uber, so it is very challenging to not have a car. One can rent locally from Enterprise Rentacar (advance reservations recommended- they don't always have vehicles on hand), and their location is 6 blocks from my house. The middle of Taos' historic downtown- Taos Plaza- is a 1.5 mile bike ride or walk. I have ample parking for cars at my house, and driving and parking around Taos is as easy as a small town with one main thoroughfare generally is. Hiking trails start within two miles of the house, and there are abundant areas nearby to walk, hike, and bike. The new Rio Grande del Norte National Monument public lands are within a few miles, as is the Rio Grande Gorge, Taos Pueblo, rafting areas, hot springs, and many hiking and mountain biking trails. Other Things to NoteSmall bedroom is suitable for single or couple only. Bed is 8" thick inner-spring futon mattress with 1.5" memory-foam topper on a futon sofa frame. Am told it's more comfortable than many "real" beds. It is on the soft side. Re cell coverage: Verizon is really the only cell carrier that has full coverage in Taos and across the mountains of northern New Mexico. t-Mobile and Sprint are at variable levels of none to ok (including, may have some cell coverage, but shaky to no digital/internet; it seems to vary), and ATT tends to have poor service in the area, regardless of what they claim. Virgin does not work at all. It's best to have your non-Verizon phone be able to "roam" on Verizon, and/or have a device capable of accessing my wifi network so you can get to internet. There is no landline telephone in house, and no computer available to guests. The house is equipped with smoke/CO2 detectors, is completely up to code (which is not always the case in Taos) and all systems -wiring, plumbing, heat, appliances, etc- are upgraded and/or new within last ten years. Heat is hot water underfloor radiant and baseboard, quiet and comfortable. Taos is at 7,200' and rarely gets very hot in summer, so houses here generally do not have air conditioning, and this house is no exception.

The SpaceLocated in the valley below historic Taos, NM, the "distillery" is set under very mature trees, surrounded by extensive gardens while still overlooking the sacred Taos mountain. The original house was built during prohibition and brewed bootleg liquor for the speakeasy in town. We use the house now as a platform for the distillation and exchange of ideas. Our home offers a quiet retreat in an area rich with history and arts. There is something very calming about staying in a house made of the earth. Adobe is a traditional style of architecture which suits the land here. We have added a new kitchen and master suite to the old house, maintaining the charm of houses from this area. There are grand spaces as well as cozy spaces. Warm fireplaces for winter and cool refuges for summer. It has 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a library, office and drawing room as well as patios for al fresco dining. The extensive vegetable garden and water feature offer lovely outdoor settings in warm weather. We have a roof top deck which offers spectacular views and the opportunity to sleep out under the stars. A 10 minute walk from the historic Taos plaza, we are conveniently located while maintaining the feel of a quiet retreat. The area is historically significant: The Taos Pueblo is a UNESCO site as the oldest continually inhabited structure in the country, and continues to engage the community with traditional dances and events. Before becoming a part of the United States, the area was settled by the Spanish and hosted a number of outlaws. In the early 20th century, Georgia O'Keefe and DH Lawrence helped to establish the area with the Taos Moderns as an art destination. The community continues to thrive with all of these historical influences. Taos Mountain is renowned for outdoor enthusiasts and offers top notch skiing in the winter while the Rio Grande is well known in river running circles. Numerous trails offer outdoor opportunities in all seasons. There are interesting festivals and events throughout the calendar year, and the town of Taos is only an hour from one of the most creatively dense communities in the US, Santa Fe. Please visit (URL HIDDEN) for a full description of all this area has to offer. While there is a local transit line, Guests should plan on arriving with their own vehicle. Guest AccessI will send detailed access upon confirmation of a reservation. Interaction with GuestsCaretaker We have a caretaker who comes to look after the chickens and garden. Michael, who lives up the driveway directly across the street, is an old timer who knows a ton about the area. Please introduce yourselves if you cross paths, and let him know if you have any concerns about the property, or just listen to his local lore. The NeighborhoodAround town Inside the house there are hints for the house as well as area info, guides and maps. If there are specific things you are interested in doing while there, let me know and I will offer what guidance I can. On Thursdays, the weekly Taos News comes out with extensive calendar listings of area events…there is a lot going on for such a small town. Visit (URL HIDDEN) for a cohesive vacation guide. Getting AroundFrom the house, it is a 10 minute walk into town. The Chili line connects Taos with the surrounding communities, including Santa Fe, where you can catch a Railrunner train into Albuquerque. To get a full experience of the area, it is really best to have a car. Other Things to NoteWireless: Distillery1, or Distillery_EXT – password: 5A4b3c2d1e!

The SpaceGreat little house for visiting Taos, or as a base for skiing at Taos Ski Valley. This is my own private residence; only available when I'm away, to the right visitors. Sweet, artsy contemporary pueblo-style home, nothing large or fancy, but upgraded, comfortable, and pleasant; wood and tile floors include some with floor heat. Large corner jacuzzi soaking tub in master bath, wifi, fenced back yard with multiple seating areas, gardens, and mountain view; fenced front patio as well. 1.8 miles to Taos Plaza, and less than 2 blocks from bus line and shuttle stop to Taos Ski Valley. Quiet paved side street, ordinary residential neighborhood, yet walk to commercial areas. Coffee shop, movie theater, bank, restaurants, and Walmart within two blocks, supermarket, Walgreens, and many other stores nearby. Master bedroom has comfortable, firm, newer queen bed, and another bedroom (small) may be negotiated, but i'll highly prefer to have just a couple people, such as one responsible, quiet couple. No cable TV, but 5 channels of HD over-the-air stations, Netflix and other streaming services, as well as your DVDs, can be used via living room TV/dvr/bluray, and there is 3mb broadband wifi throughout the house. Kitchen has all basic appliances. Clean hot-water baseboard and radiant floor heat. Natural gas kitchen stovetop. Host is fiber-artist and musician, and house has a nice funky artisty-vibe to it. This is not a sterile perfectionist interior-designer vacation-rental environment: you will be in a private home, rarely rented, that has my musical instruments, fiber-arts materials, houseplants, books, personal possessions, etc. So, for example, the linens and furniture may be mismatched, but comfortable, that kind of thing. If I am out of town (and I usually will be, if renting the whole house) I have a locally-available friend on call in case of any issues. I also have one of the bedrooms available as a room rental at other times when I'm here; see my other Listings. Guest AccessThe only unavailable areas are the bedrooms used for my fiber studio/music spaces, and the garage. Otherwise, the entire house and yard is available. There is a small gas BBQ grill available outside. Interaction with GuestsI will usually be away if this is rented. I may be here to greet you, or I may leave a key, or i may have one of a couple of local friends greet and assist you. They live off-site, and are very professional and nice. The NeighborhoodI love that my neighborhood is a "real" neighborhood, with a wide mix of residents. Most homes are owner-occupied, and typical owners are teachers, hospital staff, retired folks, families. My next door neighbors are a theater manager on one side and a well-known Pueblo indian potter on the other. It's a typical older, ordinary, fairly quiet residential neighborhood for Taos (NOT a historic neighborhood), with a mix of pueblo-style homes, mostly dating from the '60s-'70s. Most of all, it is very convenient- one block off the "main drag", easy to navigate to and from, yet quiet and calm. Unlike many areas of Taos, the streets are paved, and promptly plowed when it snows ;-). And there's a great coffee shop, Koko, right around the corner! Getting AroundThe Chile Line/Taos public transit runs on the "main drag", with the nearest bus stop under two blocks away (note: it does not run on weekends or at night, and there are no taxis), and the Chile Line's Taos Ski Valley shuttle ($1 to Taos Ski Valley) also stops at a hotel one block away. Private van shuttles to/from ABQ airport probably have no problem with door-to-door dropoff/pickup, since this house is only one block from hotels they otherwise will stop at. There are easy bike routes to downtown, including a route that uses back roads rather than the busy main drag. Historic Taos Plaza is about a mile and a half away. However, i need to note, Taos is not an easy area to get around without a car. If need be, one can pick up a car from Enterprise Rentacar, which is about four blocks from my house. Quick walk to coffee shop, bank/ATM, movie theater, convenience store, several restaurants (two chinese/thai/asian cafes, an upscale/natural burger joint, two coffeeshops, and two New Mexican cafes), and Walmart. All of these are within 2-3 blocks. Other Things to NoteView of Taos Mountain from the north windows and the back yard. Home does not have fireplace nor woodstove. Large corner jacuzzi tub in master bath is for soaking only; jets are disabled. Taos Ski Valley is a 35-40 minute drive, depending on traffic. Shuttlebus service to/from TSV is available for $1, stop is only 2 blocks away.

The SpaceIn the heart of Taos, Casa Rosa is just a block from shopping on Bent Street and two blocks from the Plaza where, in the warmer months, there is music on Thursday evenings and the farmers market every Saturday. In the winter, leave your car in town and take the shuttle, a block away, to the Ski Valley. All year round shopping, museums, restaurants and nightlife are a short walk from the cottage. Casa Rosa has plenty of light, unusual for an historic adobe. It has 2 bedrooms, each with a king bed and a nonfunctioning but traditional and beautiful fireplace supplied with candles. The two baths have Mexican hand painted tiles. One comes with a spacious shower that easily fits two, and the second has both tub and shower. The bathrooms in this quirky adobe are not adjacent to the bedrooms; the kitchen and tv room or the living room come between. We've been told the casa is perfect for 2 couples since each bedroom is adjoined by a sitting room, which, along with the 2 courtyards, provides privacy. The kitchen is well stocked -- make breakfast, latkes or Christmas cookies. In the summer, enjoy breakfast or cocktails on the patio. Guest AccessThe house is all yours. Enjoy the privacy. The patio adjacent to the casa is walled from the street and semi private. The smaller courtyard behind the casa is also yours to enjoy. Put up the hammock and relax. There is off street parking available in the driveway directly in front of the entrance to Casa Rosa. Interaction with GuestsWe are available by phone, email or text. Please don't hesitate to call or write. The NeighborhoodThree blocks from the plaza, Casa Rosa is in the middle of town, on quiet Martyrs Lane. Everything that Taos offers is a short walk away and Taos offers much: galleries, all sorts of restaurants, bars, music, and dance venues; fun shopping, farmers markets, historic sites, museums, parks, Thursday evening bands on the Plaza in the summer, festivals all through the year. And, wonderful, interesting Taosenos! Taos is surrounded by forests and mesas and rivers where you can enjoy nature. Hike, bike, snow ski, balloon, fly fish, snowshoe, ride, soak in hot springs and back pack. Or just bask in the beauty--- amazing sunsets and rainbows! Enjoy! Getting AroundYou can do without a car; take a shuttle from the Albuquerque airport to Taos or, with a little more planning, you can combine the train to Santa Fe (the Rail Runner) and the bus the rest of the way. The Ski Valley shuttle, a block from Casa Rosa, runs in the winter. The Taos Chili Line provides transportation through town. If you bring your car, we have an off street parking space for you right out front. Other Things to NoteIf you will be using only one bedroom or staying a week or longer, we may be able to lower the price. Please ask If we can, we are happy to alter the arrival or departure times. Again, please ask.

The SpaceJoin us in what was once part of the Mabel Dodge Luhan estate. This approximately 1,300 square foot Casa is deeply extraordinary. Once the home of iconoclast Victor Higgins and the gathering place of such artistic and intellectual greats as Ansel Adams, Thomas and Dorothy Benrimo, and Rebecca James, it is now registered as an historic landmark. The unique light upon the Old Morada seen from her guest room inspired Georgia O'Keefe to paint her famous cross series. Another guest, D.H. Lawrence, was impelled to embellish one of the antique interior doors with delightful gold leaf patterns. Morada Lane is now available year around for an exquisite Taos Holiday--please message us now to book! Located at the top of gorgeous Morada Lane, this enchanting home is a 5 minute walk to Taos' downtown Kit Carson park and a 10 minute walk to the historic downtown plaza and the galleries on Ledoux Street. Our home is on a 1/2 acre plot, bordering the beautiful Taos Pueblo. We love hosting well behaved dogs, so no need to leave your best friend out of the festivities!

The private walled deck upstairs has a gas grill, table, chairs, and umbrella for the summer. In winter, the radiant floor heating keeps everything warm - and feels so cosy on bare feet. Responsible guests will find our home luxurious, very clean, and the perfect place to explore Taos and northern New Mexico. The Condo Environment: This is NOT the usual crowded condo development! Each of the twelve units is completely self contained and private, and spaced around pretty landscaped gardens and a fish pond. Our home is a 2-storey adobe end unit of three. It's a very quiet place, in a tree-lined residential street. Close to so much: The condo is about 10 minutes walk from the center of Taos, which has wonderful restaurants, innovative galleries, boutiques, and antique shops. Taos Ski Valley is about a 30 minute drive. Angel Fire and Sipapu Ski resorts about 40 minutes, and Ojo Caliente hot springs are about an hour away. Santa Fe is a little over an hour's drive. During the summer, the Rio Grande offers rafting and kayaking for all levels, and walkers can enjoy anything from a stroll around the pretty local neighborhoods, to day-long mountain hiking. Taos also offers Native American culture, art and craft schools & courses, Earth ship tours, Alternative and natural health & wellness providers. There are bicycle and other recreational equipment rentals, spas and a golf course. Younger children can spend the day safely supervised at Twirl, an activity and play centre. The unit has an assigned space right outside the rear door, and there's plenty of off-street visitor parking. Free password-protected wifi is included, and each TV has its own cable feed. Of course, there's too much else to do to be watching TV or checking your email! Interaction with GuestsWe love to hear from you by email and phone, and we're just a phone call away during your stay. The NeighborhoodThe best of all worlds: so close to the centre of everything in Taos, yet on a quiet residential street. We love the unique design of our home, with its warm, exotic décor, and we love the beautiful, serene garden setting. We take easy day trips to fascinating places like Bandolier National Monument, Chama and its scenic railway, the Enchanted Circle and High Road - both beautiful scenic drives. Taos Ski Valley is just a short drive away, with snow sports in winter, and hikes in summer. Getting AroundThe centre of Taos is easily walkable, and worth exploring. Public transport is limited: there are some local small buses like the Chile Line which runs around town, and during ski season there are regular shuttles to and from the ski valley. A rental car is recommended, and during winter (Dec - March) consider a 4WD if you plan to drive off the main streets. Other Things to NoteWe are artists, and have a gallery on the 'High Road To Taos' Scenic route - do visit us in Penasco from May through mid-October at Gaucho Blue Gallery.
