The SpaceRoom with great morning sun, and a double bed. Help yourself to coffee and tea in the kitchen, which you're welcome to use whenever. You do need to supply your own meals (though I have basics which you're welcome to use.) For entertainment I have a TV set up with a Chromecast for Netflix and YouTube etc, and stacks of DVDs and books you can help yourself to. (Though, to be honest, the Wairarapa has so much to see, and so much on most people don't get time for TV!) Guest AccessYou'll be given a key for your stay, and we'll discuss check in and arrival via email in advance. Interaction with GuestsI'm usually off working long hours through the week or tramping, walking the dog around the Wairarapa, or driving into the city on weekends, and am almost always happy to extend an invite to join in. I'm super easygoing, so am fine with having a chat while you're here, though most of the time I prefer to leave you in peace. The NeighborhoodThe Wairarapa has a lot going on! Featherston is a quiet rural spot roughly 10 minutes drive from Greytown (boutique shopping) and 15 from Martinbourgh (Great wineries, wine festivals, and a brilliant fair in the first weekend of Feb and March every year.) Wellington is roughly 50 minutes away over the Rimutakas, or an hour by train. It's a nice spot after a big drive down the north island before you hit the city. Mt Holdsworth, and Cape Palliser are close for tramping, and sightseeing. Featherston is known for wild and windy weather at times. Summer is very dry and hot, which makes for great wine. Getting AroundI'm right beside a bus stop, and the train station is a 10 minute walk. You can do, and see a surprising amount without a car if you plan ahead - e.g. check out 'To the coast with the post' and the 200, and 206 bus lines with metlink. If you're road tripping with your own vehicle there is always free parking on the street, and room in the gated driveway.
