The resort is located on the Karpaz peninsula, an ideal base to explore the delights of Northern Cyprus, but if you want night clubbing or stag & hen parties, this is not the place for you!
The apartment boasts a huge, private roof terrace with table and chairs, barbecue and jacuzzi - offering amazing sea views and everything you need to enjoy eating al fresco and to relax in the beautiful Cyprus sun.
A separate balcony on the floor below is perfect for a sunny breakfast, reading in the shade, enjoying your evening drink or just taking in the sea view.
Every room in the apartment has sea views.
The apartment has 2 bedrooms - 1 double with ensuite shower room and 1 twin room next to another bathroom. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes, curtains, black-out blinds and high performance air conditioning units. See the photos for a layout of the apartment.
The open plan kitchen has all you require, including oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and all crockery, kettle, toaster etc.
The dining area has table and chairs for 4 people.
The lounge has 2 sofas seating 5 comfortably, one of which also converts into a sofa bed, a flat screen TV, DVD player and another high performance air-conditioning unit. The TV is not connected to channels, so please feel free to bring DVDs to watch some films during your stay.
Beach towels, bathroom towels and bed linen are all provided. The apartment also provides an iron and ironing board, clothes airer, and lightweight duvets for the cooler months.
Wifi is reliable and paid by the apartment owner and accessible from all rooms in the apartment.
The resort has a huge, (approx 60m) beautiful free form swimming pool which has some shallower areas for toddlers and shelving for just sitting in the pool to cool off, so even non swimmers can enjoy a dip. Next to the swimming pool is a mini golf game, all-weather tennis court and basketball court, boule, and a children's playground and trampoline. There are shaded pergolas around the pool to provide shade from the sun and a poolside bar with a table tennis table.
Next to the pool is the resort's restaurant called Beached, which serves meals throughout the day, as well as ice creams and snacks for the pool side, and has a small shop for groceries.
There is a large sandy beach in the resort with a decking area and sun loungers with shade. The sea is crystal clear and is shallow for some way out so perfect for children and really warm in the summer making it a lovely place to splash around.
There is also a small jetty for jumping off that has sun loungers on so you can enjoy the sea without even getting sand on your feet!
The resort also has some kayaks and paddle boards that you can use to explore the beautiful coastline.
The beach is quiet, and private for Thalassa residents only.
There is also a games room with pool table, a gym and sauna, and the management offices are all on site with very helpful and friendly staff. There is also an on-site spa with many services such as massages.
The resort is a lovely, new environment and is a perfect place for relaxing and having fun in the warm Cypriot sunshine. We recommended that you hire a car as shops and restaurants are a short ride away and it will enable you to visit the other delights of this beautiful island. Feel free to ask for advice for car hire.
Travel cots, high chairs and sterilisers are available to hire on request.
The resort is a short drive from Bafra, a small local village which has a few local restaurants which offer great value rustic food, a couple of mini supermarkets for your basic provisions, a petrol station and an ice cream cafe. Also nearby are a couple of large 5* hotels with casinos, beaches, and excellent water parks (daily fees) which are great fun.
There is a large beach at Bafra with lovely golden sand, crystal clear water and it is very safe for children. There are watersports for hire, such as jet skis and banana boats, and there are sun beds (for a small charge), toilet and shower facilities, and several cafes and bars. Although the beach is open, the facilities are not normally operational until May.
The owners, Simon and Vikki, who live in Ascot, Berkshire, can answer any questions you may have. Once you have booked we will send you a comprehensive introduction to the apartment, the resort and the local area, and we can help arrange airport transfers, car hire and groceries to be delivered to your apartment ready for your arrival.
Just beyond Bogaz are the ancient roman ruins of Salamis which are claimed to be the most archeologically important ruins on the whole island. And another 15 minutes further on from Salamis is the historical town of Famagusta with it's old walled town, an excellent bakery/cafe, harbour and little cafes and shops. Also in Famagusta is a bowling alley and a go kart track.
The Thalassa resort is located at the beginning of what is known as the 'pan handle', the Karpaz peninsula. A trip visiting this beautiful region is highly recommended. Thousands of olive trees dot the countryside and wild donkeys roam. The beaches are untouched and the sea is crystal clear and naturally stunning.
On the way back from the Karpaz is the Karpaz Marina where many yachts are usually moored and where you can find a more western restaurant and winebar, a PADI scuba centre and a fabulous, but very reasonably priced, beach club with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the sea, and which had a large inflatable in the sea when we visited last summer, which the kids (big and small), absolutely loved!
Within an hours drive is the beautiful Kyrenia (or Girne as it is known in Northern Cyprus), which has a lovely cafe lined harbour, the fairy tale St Hilarion Castle with stunning views, and the ancient Bellapais Monastery where a meal can be had in its very scenic setting.
For golfers, the Korineum Championship Golf Course, Country Club and Spa is about 45 minutes away.
