The SpaceOur 1892 home was built only 400 years after Columbus discovered America. Our "kit" home, Design #143 is the product of Architect George Franklin Barber and has totally modern systems. Our offering is high quality lodging. 11% State & Local Lodging Tax will be collected upon arrival. Our hotel is licensed, inspected by several outside organizations, we are insured and we are pet and smoke free. All rooms have personal amenities, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, complimentary wifi and more. Guest AccessGuests will have access to their room and all commons areas. The dining room and all commons areas are for all guests. The kitchen and laundry are reserved for the exclusive use of our management and staff. Interaction with GuestsThis is our home as well as our business. We live on premises and offer a guest as much privacy or personal attention as our schedules and occupancy level allows. The NeighborhoodOur fine property is located in a residential neighborhood between two churches and just two blocks from our National Registry Historic Town Square where dining is available. Six blocks away is the Lincoln Prairie Hike and Bike Trail and another six blocks to a large park. Getting AroundWe do not have public transportation because we are in a city of only 12,000 population. There are a couple cab services here. Several restaurants are within 6 blocks, otherwise your auto will do. There is on street parking as well as a city lot within 1/2 block. Other Things to NoteWe provide shuttle from and to TAZ (Taylorville Municipal Airport) and they also have a courtesy car. Skydiving happens at TAZ if you like to jump out of perfectly good airplanes.

Interaction with GuestsWe will be happy to show you the trails, winery, or give you any suggestions on where to dine. We are available to join you or leave you to your selves. Breakfast items are provided for you to enjoy in your farmhouse. If you would like a country breakfast with us, we can arrange to fix it for an additional fee. The NeighborhoodWe love the quiet, peaceful nature sounds. Our neighbors are too far to see, but close enough to help out if needed. The stars are so bright in the country, and deer, turkey and pheasants are always seen. Getting AroundYou are responsible for your own transportation. There is a large parking area. The closest airports are St. Louis, MO and Springfield, IL Other Things to NoteOn occasion we do allow pets, if they are kenneled . The farmhouses are on a septic system and we do not have a garbage disposal, or dishwasher.

We are located right in the middle of Illinois, near Springfield, we are a luxurious, 8 Guest Room B&B surrounded by a small town with great golf, the Lincoln Prairie Hike and Bike Trail, parks and playgrounds, two great fishing and boating lakes, a general aviation airport (which is also home for Mid America Sport Parachute Club), dining and entertainment opportunities, local fairs, homecomings, and art oriented events, chili and BBQ cookoffs, a wilderness dirt bike and 4 wheel park, one of the nation's finest Quarter Midget tracks and more. We offer guest rooms with King and Queen Beds, fireplaces, whirlpool tubs for two /combo shower, sumptuous breakfasts (served at fireside in season), a great wrap-around porch for gathering in the summer and parlors with fireplaces for gathering in the winter. Families gather here for holiday events, family reunions, weddings, funerals and just for the sheer fun of getting together in a pleasant and elegant atmosphere. Tell us what you seek and we will make suggestions. Of course we have all the amenities including free high speed wifi. Our repeat guests come from all over the world and our local community. For those in the know, "we are 100 miles away, just down the street". Additionally, if you are in a mood for history, we are about 1/2 hour from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library as well as most other Central Illinois Lincoln Sites. There is NO kitchen access for guests at this property. We do offer breakfast if the guest chooses. Quality dining is very inexpensive here. Enjoy your family time by not being strapped with everyday household duties, that is what we are here to provide. This quote is for a Queen bedded room with whirlpool tub/shower for a maximum of two (2) people in an attended Bed and Breakfast inn. King bedded rooms are available at a higher rate. There is NO kitchen access available. There is no cooking in the guest room. There is a microwave in the commons area and, for weekly and monthly rentals we can place a small refrigerator in the room. (Local restaurants are very inexpensive). Cleaning: No daily housekeeping services are offered for weekly and monthly reservations. Weekly housekeeping is included in those prices. Of course, per Illinois State Statute, smoking is NOT allowed indoors. We are a pet free inn and can recommend suitable boarding for your pet. Our fine Bed and Breakfast is located just 2 short blocks from our National Registry Historic Town Square and County Courthouse in a small community of about 12,500 population. Taylorville, IL is in the Heart of Lincolnland where Abraham Lincoln traveled the 8th Judicial Circuit and practiced law. Our Bed and Breakfast is located in a residential area with churches on two sides and private residences on the other two sides. Dining and entertainment happens within two to four blocks of our location. We have a wide variety of small, locally owned restaurants, all of which are reasonably priced and most of which offer at least wine and beer. There are also bars within that 2 to 4 block distance which offer very reasonably priced drinks. Taylorville Lake Shore Golf Course is about 3.5 miles from our front door. The Lincoln Prairie Bike Trail is just down the street and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum are about 35 minutes from us. There are far too many things happening at any point in time to note here. These are simple things like a Saturday morning tour of the Clocktower of our County Courthouse which the Clock Master, our seasonal Farmer's Market, various Fete's and seasonal events. The Christian County Historical Society Village is open with seasonally varying hours and has the original Courthouse where Abraham Lincoln and Judge David Davis heard and argued cases. If you are a race fan then the race season of Christian County Quarter Midget Association may interest you. Our town square in designated on the National Registry of Historic Places and worth a stroll and a look. There are two nearby lakes for fishing and recreation Street parking as well as off street lot parking, all of which is FREE, surround our inn. Should you require cab service it is readily available in our community.

          This lake front cabin sits on a secluded 5 acre peninsula, located on Lake Glen Shoals, in Hillsboro, Illinois. Built in 1999, it is made of 8 inch oak logs. It has one bedroom with a queen bed, a sleeping loft with 3 twin beds and an improved walkout basement with an entertainment center and a queen sleeper sofa. There are two full bathrooms and a clothes washer and dryer in the basement. Heat, Central AC & City water. Fully Functioning Kitchen including an electric range w/oven (Although compact, owner Tom Burkart managed to cook a Thanksgiving dinner for 20), refrigerator/freezer with automatic ice maker, microwave, dishes, silverware, pots, pans, cookware, coffeemaker; cappuccino maker & bagel Toaster. (If you bring or buy something to cook, the kitchen should accommodate.) We have rescue pets of our own, but experience requires that we no longer allow guests to bring pets. We provide bed linens for the queen and twin beds. We have four sets of towels, hand towels, and washcloths (2 sets in each bath). We also have other older towels for swimming or other use. We have a home theater, with full surround sound, DVD player, and a Blueray player. There is DirecTV on the main and lower level. Board games, cards, etc. There are 2 fire pits, one located off the back patio of the cabin and one on the peninsula overlooking the lake. There is an assorted library of books containing John Grisham novels among others. The lake is 1,250 acres and accommodates all water sports. There are two large designated no-wake areas for sailing and canoeing. There is a boat dock with swimmers ladder, and a large playing field for outdoor sports. The cabin is less than 45 minutes from the state capital of Springfield, where you can visit the Abraham Lincoln presidential library and museum (plan on a full day). It is about 90 minutes from St. Louis, Missouri which features a free zoo, free history museum, free science center, and a free art museum that has been compared to the Louvre in France. 7 miles to the west is historic US Route 66.

There is no cooking in the rooms nor use of our kitchen by guests. A full breakfast is served by staff; other meals may be enjoyed at very reasonable, local restaurants just a few blocks away. The inn is just a few minutes from the original courthouse where Abraham Lincoln practiced law and a few miles from Springfield, Illinois, the state capitol and location of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library. Taylorville is a small town of 12,000 population with a great golf course rated 4.5 by Golf Digest. Our inn is two blocks from the historic town square with nearby dining. Please check our website for Inn Events in our area. Fitness and Indoor swimming: Our local YMCA has a well appointed Fitness Center and an Indoor Swimming Pool. This is available to guests on an additional daily fee basis. Golf: Taylorville Lakeshore Golf Course is rated 4.5 by Golf Digest magazine. We have a corporate membership at this course which allows us to send up to 4 persons for 18 holes of golf per day 4 days per week excepting tournament blackout days. The only cost to our registered guests would be cart rental if desired. Please check with us for availability. Nearby dining: Taylorville, Illinois has a wide variety of good, inexpensive dining venues including American fare, Sushi, Greek, Italian, Chinese, Pizza, homemade burgers and a variety of normal fast food restaurants. Just two short blocks away is Samurai Shushi and Steakhouse featuring some of the finest preparations you may wish to enjoy including a full bar, Florinda's Italian and Pizza is a few steps further serving quality basic Italian fare and wine and beer. Within 5 blocks you will find a China Pavilion, Starlight Cafe which has an American food menu and Bills Toasty Shop, famous for fine burgers, fries and shakes.
