We live in the lovely suburb of Te Atatu Peninsula - just 25 mins on the express bus to down town Auckland. We are: Sharyn and Tom (early 40s) and our two kids Alfie (6) and Livi (4), and cat Raphy. We have a lovely sunny room with double bed available with free Wifi internet. Sharyn lectures in Social Sciences at AUT University, and Tom teaches karate. We are an active family, and have two spare bicycles guests can borrow to cycle around the peninsula, or go on the bike path to Auckland central (about 50 mins).

We live in a huge spacious 3 bedroom home and have everything you may need, including 400GB worth of data each month. We are very handy to all shops including a supermarket straight across the road, a KFC branch, a bakery, and also a convenience store. Great neighbors and a very quiet neighborhood which will be ideal for that hardworking student. Me and my partner Billy are very respectful of others privacy and we are very tidy people. We enjoy the outdoors a lot, along with traveling however on a cold winters night we like to stay indoors and watch endless amount of movies.

The Space***NO SMOKERS PLEASE*** A comfortable bedroom in a family home of 4 (2 adults 2 children). Family friendly. Outdoor and indoor play equipment available. Fully fenced secure section. High chair and baby bath available on request. We will help you with information regarding child car restraints rentals. We are located a "stone's throw" to the North Western Motorway out in Western suburbs of Auckland. There's a veggie store 5 min walk from us, a supermarket 10 mins walk. Other facilities in close vicinity include: video store, pharmacy, take aways, post office, ATM, $2 variety stores, 24h service station. A huge shopping development 25 minute walk away. There's a playground a short stroll from the house, as well as a duck pond and a couple of parks for walks. The location is definitely better suited for those with own transport but public transport is in existence. We have a direct bus (090 and 090X) bound for central Auckland 10 minutes walk from the house but it takes more than an hour to its final stop at Britomart. On weekdays, an early morning drop off to Mt Eden can be arranged (leaving at 6.15am with 4ish pm return). Great location for venturing out to the West Coast beaches (Piha, Karekare, Bethells, Muriwai, etc.) and Waitakere Ranges. Easy access to the North Shore area of Auckland as well as venturing out to Northland. Cited after online maps, we are: - 15mins by car from the CBD via North-Western Motorway/State highway 16. - 40mins by car to Piha Beach - 30mins by car to Muriwai Beach and gannet colony We have a large dog and she's part of the family. She spends quite a bit of time indoors but is kept in a fenced area outside when we're not at home. We have a long experience of visitor so we will keep her out of your way. Please don't be offended when she barks - she's quite anxious. The house is fairly modern. It is not a hotel but a home. You will be sharing a bathroom with our children so it is practically all yours except their evening bath time. There's a bath available but we encourage everyone to use the roomy shower whenever possible to preserve water. We have a small bathtub available for kids up to 4 years old. Electric heating is available in your room and living areas have a heat pump/air conditioner that can be utilized as needed. A desk fan can also be provided on request. Two lounges are available and can be used freely. Outdoor covered area provides an added living space in any weather. You will have access to laundry facilities during the day. Our dog sleeps there at night. Please ask for a demonstration before using the washing machine for the first time. We prefer to only host 2 adults or 2 adults and 1 child at any given time. Please make a booking for 2 guests only instead of 3, if your child is under 10 years old. The Airbnb bedroom is downstairs on the same level as the garage, it allows our guests the most privacy. Kitchen, bathroom and laundry are upstairs on the main level. Double wardrobe, queen size bed, bedside drawers and shelves are provided in your room. You also have 2 chairs and a table but please feel free to use the dining table upstairs for your meals. Please help yourself to either cereal, toast or eggs for breakfast as well as hot drinks and water throughout the day. Everything else can be provided by arrangement. You can help yourself to the herb garden but ask if you'd like to use veg/fruit as we usually only have a small amount. And finally, we have done a fair amount of travelling ourselves, and also a wee bit of hosting through and outside of airbnb, we will endeavour to make you feel at home and assist you with any queries on travelling in New Zealand. Please come to us with any specific issues and we will try to assist to the best of our ability. To ensure a positive response, please try to give us 2 days notice. Otherwise, we will not have enough time to tidy the house, wash bedding and clean the room after our previous visitors. Thank you! Guest AccessAccess to all areas except our bedrooms. Interaction with GuestsWe live at the house you will be staying at. The amount of interaction is gauged on case by case basis and is up to you to signal. We welcome you to join in with our daily activities, like bbqs in summer, evening TV, etc., but also allow for as much privacy as possible if that is your wish. The NeighborhoodWe live around 20 minutes by foot from Westgate and 25 minutes from Northwest mall . The location is conveniently close to amenities but also allows for peace and quiet we like. We have a good relationship with our neighbours. It's easy to access the city as well as North Shore via the motorway. Own car is definitely an advantage as the public transport is not cheap and takes 3 times as long. Getting AroundPublic transport is not something you can rely on as far as travel around NZ goes. There is a direct bus to the city within 10 minutes walk from us, travel time: 1hour +. Take a look at the Auckland Transport website and enter our address and destination for routes' details and fares. To take advantage of what is on offer in New Zealand, it is best to rent/buy a car. We have parking on the street as well as in front of the house. Airport transfer either by rental car or taxi. Please note that taxi taken from the airport directly will incur an extra charge so it is MUCH cheaper to call a taxi company for pick up - companies permanently based at the airport pass the extra costs to the consumers.

The SpaceThis is our family home and true to our Kiwi DIY ethos we have been lovingly doing it up over the last couple of years. Its a lovely sunny house, with native timber wooden floors and a semi-rural outlook. We do most of our living upstairs where there are three bedrooms, dining/living/kitchen and a bathroom. There is also a large studio downstairs (no internal access), which we use as a music studio, but could sleep a couple of guests if required. We've recently built a deck, conveniently located right next to the kitchen and looking out to the large backyard. It catches all the afternoon sun and is the perfect place to eat/chill/watch the kids play. Guest AccessThe whole house. A few perks include - Bicycles - His and hers, also a toddler seat (suitable for ages 1-3) and a kids bike for a 7-10yo Surfboards - Muriwai Beach is 20 minutes drive away. Trampoline (good for adults too) and small playground Barbeque Good quality speakers and amplifier with a headphone jack to plug your devices into, also Blu-Ray player, wifi internet etc etc. Two bedrooms in the house are childrens bedrooms and have child sized beds (one with a cot sized and one 3/4 sized). The Queen bed in the master bedroom is super comfy and I can provide a good quality air mattress for any extra adult guests. Help yourself to anything in the kitchen, including any food in the cupboards or refrigerator. Will leave dishwasher instructions and detergent too. Interaction with GuestsWe are renting out our home while away on holiday so face to face interaction will be with our next door neighbour and or family members. Will make sure we have internet access to answer any queries and will provide you with several contacts for your stay should you need anything. The NeighborhoodBeing 1km away from two motorway onramps (SH16 &SH18) makes travel easy and convenient. FOOD AND SHOPPING Lots of fresh local produce with multiple fruit/vege shops very close by and 2 major supermarkets less than 2km away. Also many options for eating out or takeaway. Very close to Westgate town center, (1.5km) will sell almost anything you need. 10 minutes to Kumeu/Riverhead with multiple wineries and restaurants (and more shops) MORE... 2-5 minutes to Whenuapai Village which has a local butcher/bakery/cafe and is home to the airforce for all plane-spotting enthusiasts. 5-10 minutes to Hobsonville point which has the brilliant 5 star reviewed Catalina Cafe and is a great place to explore on bicycle. 2 minutes from West Harbour - lots of harbour views, a marina and parks and playgrounds. 5-10 minutes to Herald Island. Christmas Beach is the closest place for a quick swim at high tide. Could also try your hand at fishing off the wharf. Great Free barberque and picnic area at Christmas Beach. WEST AUCKLAND at your doorstep - Explore the Waitakere Ranges, west coast beaches and more! Getting AroundWe are located 1km away from State Highway onramps in three directions - SH16 to the city (15 min) -SH16 in the other direction to Helensville and including Kumeu, Riverhead, Waimauku, Muriwai and Woodhill on the way. -SH18 to the North Shore, close to Greenhithe, Albany, East Coast Bays (15 mins). 15-20 minutes to central Auckland via SH16 15-20 minutes to North Shore via SH18 20-25 minutes to Muriwai Beach & gannet colony 20-25 minutes to Woodhill with mountain biking, and other adventure tourism options. However even if you do have a car - I highly recommend catching the West Harbour ferry into central Auckland for a traffic-free 30 minute ride into the city, no parking hassles and a good excuse to get out on the water. (weekdays only) On your bikes (warning-some level of fitness required) - Bike down to Whenuapai, good coffee at the cafe and grab some meat for the BBQ from the local friendly butcher. -Bike to Westgate (prepare to be a little puffed on the way home) - Bike to Hobsonville point which has impressive water views, old bomb shelters and a great cafe/playground. You can also catch a ferry to Beach Haven or the City from here. -Bike to Herald Island. Other Things to NoteWe don't have a working washing machine at the moment. We drop all our washing off to be washed and dried at the local laundromat. Hope its not a deal-breaker We can't promise that there won't be some minor DIY still to be done on the house, purely cosmetic though, and mostly exterior.
