The SpaceWant a little more than a campsite, but don't want to fork out the money for bland hotel or a pricey cabin? Here's an option for those wanting a comfy yet inexpensive indoor space to crash after a long day on the road or a day of adventure in the mountains. You'll be staying in a very large UNFINISHED upstairs bedroom in a beautiful log home/lodge nestled in the Cherokee National Forest in the sweet little mountain community of Coker Creek. Your room is just what the listing says -- 4 walls, a roof, a hot shower and WiFi. It's an unfinished upstairs, so it has unfinished walls, strandboard floors, no paint, no décor, and very primitive heating and air conditioning (a small window AC unit and a small freestanding electric heater in the bedroom only). But it DOES have all of the basics -- a queen bed with clean linens, a large bathroom down the hall (also unfinished but fully functional), plenty of space to move around or pile extra sleeping bags for your friends or family, and of course, WiFi! This beautiful property in the mountains is the perfect home base to experience all of the great outdoor activities and adventures southeastern Tennessee has to offer -- hiking, biking, motorcycling, kayaking, fishing, tubing, white water rafting, gold panning, geocaching, sightseeing, and more! After a day of exploring, you can relax and enjoy the warm feel of home in a peaceful natural setting -- and it won't break the bank! * 12 private acres of woods to explore * A gorgeous, front-row view of the Unicoi Mountains * Easily accessible - just 1.5 miles off the highway * Centrally located near many outdoor activities, scenic highways and sightseeing venues * Spacious rooms and a comfy, home environment * Expansive porches, complete with wooden swings, hammock chairs and rockers galore * A rustic fire circle, great for late-night campfires and s'mores * An attentive on-site host and two very cute and friendly host pups to help ensure you have an awesome experience! The best things about the room advertised in this listing are: * A REAL BED AND A ROOF - unlike tent camping, you'll have a real bed with fresh linens, a real roof over your head, a real bathroom with a hot shower - and WiFi! * SPACE - the bedroom is HUGE (almost 400 square feet), so you'll have lots of room to move around, plus plenty of space for additional friends or family. * PRIVACY - Though the upstairs and hall bath may be shared on occasion, in most cases, you'll have the entire area to yourself. It's pretty much like having your own private suite. * THE WARMTH OF HOME - You won't feel like you're staying in a generic motel. You'll enjoy all of the comforts and charm of a real country log home! * PRICE - Yeah, the room is unfinished, but you're probably not going to be there much, anyway. For the budget-conscience traveler and outdoor adventurer, you can't beat this value! Guest AccessIn addition to the upstairs bedroom and bath, you'll have access to the front and back porches, the living room, and the kitchen and dinette common areas downstairs. The large, open living room features high ceilings with beautiful hewn log beams and an impressive stone fireplace. There is plenty of seating and space to relax, hang out, or gather with friends and share daily adventures. A large-screen television (local broadcast channels) is also available for your entertainment on a first-come, first-served basis. The kitchen opens to the living room and features a breakfast bar and a dinette table. Guests also have access to the refrigerator and pantry for food storage. The range and microwave may also be used for simple food preparation. We have just about anything you might need as far as pots, pans, utensils, etc. should you decide to make your own meals at the house. Fresh coffee is provided in the mornings. The house is equipped with WiFi DSL service. Though it's not super fast, it's plenty fast enough to handle basic internet needs with ease. If you get any cell phone service here, you'll be lucky. So, if you're addicted to your cell phone and you absolutely MUST get your messages fast, make plans accordingly. Some Verizon customers have been able to catch one or two bars of service off the back porch on occasion. If you'd like to enjoy a campfire during your visit, just let us know and we'll set things up for you. All we ask is that you do your part to collect some wood to burn from around the property and follow the house rules for campfires. Interaction with GuestsYour host, Lauren, will be on site during your stay and will do her best to help you feel at home and find your way around the area. During your visit, you will mostly likely find Lauren in the living room, kitchen or office, or working on a project somewhere in the house or in the yard. Your sweet and friendly canine hosts, Shelby and Tootsie, will enjoy your company and will probably want to jump into bed with you at night, so it might be wise to keep the upstairs door closed to remove temptation. They apologize in advance should they bark when they hear the occasional creature outside during your slumber. It doesn't happen often, but dogs will be dogs, right? The NeighborhoodCoker Creek is a wonderful little mountain community nestled in the Cherokee National Forest, just south of Tellico Plains in southeastern Tennessee. Nearby, you'll find scenic mountain highways, winding country roads, rustic homes and cabins, old barns and farms, rivers, creeks and waterfalls, tons of hiking trails, and plenty of activities from white water rafting to gold panning. It's a perfect place for those who like to explore and enjoy the beauty of the outdoors. Some of the local attractions include the Cherohala Skyway National Scenic Byway, Bald River Falls, Baby Falls, Conasauga Falls, Coker Creek Falls, the Benton-MacKaye hiking trail, the Unicoi Turnpike Historic Trail, Buck Bald scenic overlook, and much more. Not too far away is the notorious "Tail of the Dragon" - a dizzying stretch of winding roadway and a favorite of motorcyclists and the brave of heart. Also nearby is the Lost Sea underwater lake, the Hiwassee River and recreation areas, and the Ocoee Whitewater Center. Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is about an hour drive over the mountains into North Carolina should you want to try your luck. Of course, our home is not too far from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the surrounding mecca of activity, including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg - all within about a two-hour drive or so. If you take a day drip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you'll want to leave early to be sure to enjoy as much as possible before returning in the evening. Getting AroundPublic transportation is limited here, so the best way to get around is by private vehicle. Be prepared to drive on some dirt and gravel roads, as some of the best places to explore are off the beaten path a bit. Our home is relatively easy to access. It is accessible via paved roads and is within 1.5 miles from the main highway. The driveway itself is gravel, but it's not too long - just 2/10 of a mile, with a moderate to slightly steep grade. If you drive a motorcycle, you'll want to be careful, but you will probably have no problems getting up or down. There is ample parking at the property. Garage parking is also available by special request. The nearest grocery (a little Save-A-Lot) and beverage store (beer only) are about 13 miles away in the town of Tellico Plains. There is a small gas station/convenience store about two miles from the property. More shopping options are 20+ miles away, so it's probably best to stock up on your favorite foods and libations before you come. Other Things to NoteI am currently working to complete the home that my parents started building may years ago but were never able to finish or fully enjoy before they passed away. I'm thinking you'll be so enchanted with the views and the great space that you won't notice drywall dust and the little unfinished projects here and there. I envision more and more great things for this home and this property, and your stay will help me make those dreams a reality! This is a large home and we do have more bedrooms and space in various stages of completion available. If you have a larger party and need more space or beds, please contact Lauren to discuss options. We plan to add more listings as each space is ready. A roll-away bed, a double mattress, and a cheap single floor mattress are also available upon request. This particular listing is available for one-night stays at a slightly higher price, so please inquire if that works better for you. We also have other rooms available for one-night stays if you want to check them out.

The SpaceCoker Creek curls around this house. An island with a good swimming hole is outside your windows. Trails thread the 50 acres, most of which are accessible to renters. You will feel private and safe here, nestled in Nature and at the same time comfortable and bathed in beauty. Extra porches and a huge game room with fire place. Private meditation space upstairs, and an extra small room downstairs that could be fitted out as an office. Tell us your needs. Guest AccessYou are renting a 1500 sq foot, 2-storey space which is the newer, up-dated end of a large log house. Common areas includes several decks and porches and a fabulous log great room with fire place, fireman's pole, yoga wall ropes, and ping pong table. You are free to explore the property around your house, which includes an island and lots of creek, a meditation labyrinth, plus walking trails throughout the property and across the creek, uphill to the National Forest and miles of dirt roads. Coker Creek is a gold-panning site. If you have an interest in horses, we will introduce you to ours and explain how we like them treated. We live next door. The area around our house is private to us. There are signs posted in areas we consider private. Please respect. Interaction with GuestsWe live next door. We value our peace and privacy, but we also value our guests, so we are available if you need advice or help. We have 3 dogs- We will consider pet requests on an individual basis, so that all animals will be safe. There will be an additional fee, probably 50$, based on the pet or pets you want to bring and what you can predict about their behavior. The NeighborhoodWe are in the National Forest, so abundant opportunities for outdoor wonderment exist. Hiking, waterfall viewing and swimming, canoeing and kayaking, photography, lake-paddling, fire-fly watching, taking joy in the unfoldment of natural events. Small, historic towns to visit. Art and music opportunities. Some antiques, a few restaurants, but mostly it's about the glory of being outdoors in the nurturing murmur under tall trees. The tall trees (80-100' tall pines especially) have made getting wifi and satellite tv difficult. Right now, the wifi access place is at our house, 100 yards down the driveway, down-stream. We are working on getting the wifi also at the house. Ask when you contact us. Getting AroundWe are not really close to anything other than lots and lots of trees! (Beauty!) 2 and a half hours from Atlanta, 1 and a half from Knoxville, probably 2 from Chattanooga. You'll need a car or at least your thumb (to hitch hike), if you don't have a car. The roads are good and well-marked, though, so finding us is easy. The driveway is right on highway 68. Other Things to NoteThis is a very natural area. Some grass and flower beds, but mostly the land revels in its natural beauty. Wild-flowers and meadow areas. Lots and lots of mature trees, native plants, ferns. The house is fabulous: safe, secure, comfortable and shining with beauty. If you are the person who steps outside hoping to see animals, insects, birds and their nests, then you should come. You also probably know that there are potentially snakes, even poisonous ones, in the area. Some insects sting. So do some plants. Hopefully this increases your appreciation of the Natural World rather than makes you fearful. Right now, there is no wifi. The trees around the house are too tall, which is good news for tree-lovers, not so much for wifi-users. We are looking for a solution. As of right now, we could get dial-up, so at least guests could check their e-mails and communicated with friends. Or guests could walk down to our porch and use the wifi we have, about 100 yards away. There is also no cell phone service, so there is a land line with unlimited US long distance calls.

Come and enjoy the beauty of the Cherokee National Forest and the East Tennessee mountains. The Mountain Cabin is located on Coker Creek, at the Gateway to the Cherokee National Forest and the historic “Trail of Tears”. You will be surrounded by twenty-five private acres, with the breathtaking natural beauty of the mountains and a magnificent creek running through the property. Bring your bathing suit and fishing pole. Don’t forget your hiking shoes. You will have access to miles of hiking trails. A mile down the road is Coker Creek Village, where you can enjoy horseback riding, and mountain biking. If you are really courageous, they have a repelling tower and a zip line. Additionally you are an easy drive to the Ocoee River, the previous site of the Summer Olympics. You can experience white water rafting, from beginner level to very advanced. If you want to tour the area, you are only twelve miles to the Tellico River. People come from all over the world to fly-fish in the River. Drive just a little further to Bald River Falls. Bring your camera, as the falls will provide a magnificent backdrop for your photographs. Allow plenty of time when you leave the falls, because you will not want to miss the scenic drive on the Cherohala Skyway. The skyway extends from Tellico Plains, TN. to Robbinsville, N.C. The road is thirty-six miles and crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests, thus the name "Chero...hala". There are several designated “scenic view” locations where you can stop, enjoy the sites and take photographs. Dollywood is an easy day trip from the Cabin. You can enjoy all of the attractions in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Sevierville. Then return to the peace and quiet of the cabin. You will have free internet and wifi, along with unlimited long distance calling, within the U.S.A. We have recently added a large flat-screen TV to go with the satellite television. We also added a hot tub. The game room has a high end foosball game and air hockey table. There is a DVD library with approximately 400 movies for your enjoyment.

This beautiful property in the southern Appalachian mountains is the perfect home base to experience all of the great outdoor activities and adventures southeastern Tennessee has to offer -- hiking, biking, motorcycling, kayaking, fishing, tubing, white water rafting, gold panning, horseback riding, geocaching, sightseeing -- or just plain relaxing! * 12 private acres of woods to explore * A gorgeous, front-row view of the mountains * Easily accessible - just 1.5 miles off the main highway * Centrally located near many outdoor activities and sightseeing venues * Spacious rooms and a comfy, home environment * Expansive porches, complete with wooden swings, hammock chairs and rockers galore! * A rustic fire circle, great for late-night campfires and s'mores * An attentive on-site host and two host pups to help ensure you have an awesome experience! Your room is a good-sized bedroom with a vintage travel vibe. It features a double bed and an adjoining bathroom with a stall shower. (The bathroom is also used as a hall bathroom with a second access from the living room, so it may be shared on occasion depending on whether other guests will be staying at our home during your visit.) Guest AccessIn addition to the bedroom and adjoining bathroom, you'll have access to the front and back porches, the living room, and the kitchen and dinette areas. The large, open living room features high ceilings with beautiful hewn log beams and an impressive stone fireplace. There is plenty of seating and space to relax, hang out, or gather with friends and share daily adventures. A large-screen television (local channels) is also available for your entertainment on a first-come, first-served basis. The kitchen opens to the living room and features ample counter space and a breakfast bar. A four-seat dinette table beside the bay window is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or a light meal. Guests also have access to the kitchen refrigerator and pantry for food storage. The range and microwave may be used for simple food preparation. We have just about anything you might need as far as pots, pans, utensils, etc. should you decide to make your own meals at the house. Fresh coffee is provided in the mornings. A formal dining room is available for special gatherings with consent of the host. Laundry facilities are available for a nominal load fee. The house is equipped with WiFi DSL service. Though it's not super fast, it's plenty fast enough to handle basic internet needs with ease. If you get any cell phone service in the mountains, you'll be lucky. So, if you're addicted to your cell phone and must get your messages in a timely manner, make plans accordingly. Some Verizon customers have been able to catch one bar of service off the back porch on occasion. Interaction with GuestsYour host, Lauren, will be on site during your stay and will do her best to help you feel at home and find your way around the area. During your visit, you will mostly likely find Lauren in the living room, kitchen or office, or working on a project somewhere in the house or in the yard. Your sweet and friendly canine hosts, Shelby and Tootsie, will enjoy your company and will probably want to jump into bed with you, so it might be wise to keep your bedroom door closed to remove temptation. They apologize in advance if they bark during your slumber should they hear something stir in the woods at night. Tootsie is a cattle dog mix and weighs in at about 35 pounds. Shelby is a 75-pound retriever mix. They are both usually a big hit with our guests. The NeighborhoodCoker Creek is a wonderful little country community nestled in the Cherokee National Forest, just south of Tellico Plains in southeastern Tennessee. Nearby, you'll find scenic mountain highways, winding country roads, rustic homes and cabins, old barns and farms, rivers, creeks and waterfalls, tons of hiking trails, and plenty of activities from white water rafting to gold panning. It's a perfect place for those who like to explore and enjoy the natural beauty of the outdoors. Also nearby is the Lost Sea underwater lake, the Hiwassee River and recreation area, and the Ocoee Whitewater Center. Harrah's Cherokee Valley River Casino is about an hour drive over the mountains into North Carolina should you want to try your luck. Of course, our home is not too far from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the surrounding mecca of activity, including Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg - a perfect day trip within about a two-hour drive or so. There is ample parking at the property. Garage parking is also available by special request. The nearest grocery (a little Save-A-Lot) and beverage store (beer only) are about 13 miles away in the town of Tellico Plains. There is a small gas station/convenience store about two miles from the property. More shopping options are 20+ miles away, so it's probably best to stock up before you come if you want something special. Most folks have found the Save-A-Lot to have all of the basic things they needed for snacks, everyday meals, etc. Other Things to NoteI am currently working to complete the home that my parents started building in 1996 but were never able to finish or fully enjoy before they passed away. I'm thinking you'll be so enchanted with the views and the great space that you won't notice the little unfinished projects here and there. I envision more and more great things for this home and this property, and your stay will help me make those dreams a reality! This is a large home and we do have more bedrooms and space in various stages of completion available. If you have a larger party and need additional rooms or beds, please contact Lauren to discuss options. We plan to add more listings as each space is ready. A roll-away bed and an air mattress are also available upon request.
