The SpaceAuk's Nest welcomes children and pets. Beautiful cottage gardens surround the house, which is furnished with a skillful blend of antiques and 21st-century comfort.
Awake to birdsong and the smell of coffee ~ it's time for breakfast! How about fresh orange juice and seasonal fruits, followed by eggs laid yesterday by free-range chickens. With bacon, or sausage? Fragrant, tasty breadstuffs with homemade jams and jellies always make a hit. And then there are my signature specialties – German apple pancake, Kaiserschmarrn, Savory Baked Omelette. Just let me know of any special dietary preferences, guests at Auk’s Nest get just what they want. Guest AccessTemple is in the Monadnock Region, New Hampshire's "Currier & Ives Corner" ~ the perfect location for exploring surrounding towns and neighboring Vermont and Massachusetts. The region offers chamber music, repertory theatre, galleries, and many fine restaurants. Tennis, swimming, hiking, and berry picking are all nearby, and wintertime guests can hike, ski, and snowshoe 15 minutes away at Windblown Ski area, or on the abutting thousand-acre Heald Tract. Stay-at-homes music, games, and books on the breezy screen porch or by the fire . Interaction with GuestsI love to swap stories with guests who are so inclined ~ and I know when to keep myself to myself! Many guests love each other's company best. The NeighborhoodThe lovely New England village of Temple nestles on the flank of Temple Mountain. I love its rural character, unaltered in my 40-odd years here. We have our own British pub, a great small library, and an old-time village store ~ and our historical society offers a variety of stimulating events. Getting AroundTemple is a friendly, old-fashioned rural hamlet. Public transportation does not thrive in our rustic area. Folks love to bring their bikes for our back roads and byways ~ and the roads and driveways are well plowed in winter! Other Things to NoteA word about Bed & Breakfasts: Why are our rates higher than private rooms?
B&B hosts are seasoned professionals, steeped in the nuances of inn keeping. We love to spin local tales and recommend restaurants and special local sites ~ and we know how and when to keep our distance. Important: The State of New Hampshire requires licenses, yearly safety and health inspections, and special B&B insurance coverage, and imposes a 9 percent Rooms and Meals Tax. Guests benefit from our professionalism and from the safety that these requirements provide.
