The SpaceOur unique three story lookout tower was fashioned after a Forest Service fire lookout tower, the cozy 20' x 20' square upper living/kitchen area offers a 360 degree unobstructed view of Central Oregon's 13 snow capped volcanic Cascade Mountain peaks. The deck on the top level completely surrounds the structure and has deck chairs and a gas BBQ for your enjoyment. Built with reclaimed lumber from a navy shipyard, it has many features that make it very cozy. Bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the middle and lower levels. Our home is on 5 acres of natural landscape on the Crooked River Ranch development. It is a perfect artist/writer retreat. We have an outdoor hot tub and free wireless internet so you need not venture out unless you choose to. A first class golf course and community salt water pool are available for your enjoyment in the summer. The Deschutes River is near by that many fishing and rafting enthusiasts enjoy. Smith Rocks State Park is across the highway for hiking or rock climbing. Winter sports are available at Mt. Bachelor just 50 miles away. It is a 3 1/2 hour drive from Portland International Airport or 20 minutes from the Redmond, Oregon Airport to our vacation home. Terrebonne, OR is 15 minutes away and offers a grocery store and restaurant. Driving 5 miles further south on Hwy 97 you come to Redmond, OR and then 20 miles more Bend, OR where you can enjoy wonderful restaurants, theaters and shopping. The NeighborhoodCrooked River Ranch covers 10,000 acres of rural residential, recreational and commercial property, of which 9,900 acres are divided into 2646 privately owned lots. The remainder of the acreage consists of common and community property, along with buildings and equipment, which are owned by the Association. The common and Community property is scattered throughout the Ranch. The most prominent areas are the Crooked River Ranch (CRR) Golf Course and Pro Shop and the CRR RV Park. During the summer the main attraction for the kids is the swimming pool. Other community property widely utilized is MacPherson Park with Pavilion for Picnics, reunions, and parties. Other attractions are the Dick Chandler Baseball Field, the basketball court, the tennis/pickleball courts and the Lions’ Memorial Park. There are many walking and hiking trails on the Ranch. You can hike Sand Ridge Trail, Otter Bench Trail (Difficulty level, Easy-Medium) or Scout Camp Trail (more difficult). You won't believe your eyes as you climb down this trail and take in the view of the canyon - sun shining on the rocks at sunset and the sound of the Deschutes River flowing below. For an easier stroll take a walk around the North Pasture with your dog or horse. You can also ride your horse at the enclosed arena along the golf course. If you like fishing you’ll love the Crooked River, but you'd better be prepared to take a hike down Lone Pine Trail to get there. Once you get there you will be awed by the canyon’s scenic views. The Ranch has its own falls, Steelhead Falls that is! There is a great hiking trail down to the falls area where there's a great place for a picnic. You'll always see a lot of wildlife on the Ranch, whether it be a deer with her fawns in spring or every kind of bird you can imagine! You can see quail by the score with the chicks crossing the road and jack rabbits and cottontails looking for goodies in a garden. Coyotes can be seen quite regularly and occasionally heard howling at the moon. (URL HIDDEN)

IT IS CLEAN and we are trying our best to make it as comfortable for you as we can. Its also important for you to know that this is camping! We have worked hard to make it as comfortable for you as we can BUT we can not control certain elements like heat or cold, rain or snow, bugs and animals or outside farm noises etc. We are here to make your stay comfortable but can not or will not refund your money for any "inconveniences" that we can't control.

The SpaceWelcome to The High Desert! Add a unique experience to your travels when you stay at The Round House in historic Tetherow Crossing. Enjoy 2.25 acres of Juniper forest with backyard overlooking the Deschutes river and expansive Cascade views of the three Sisters - Hope, Faith & Charity - and Broken Top. Get away for a peaceful retreat among nature, unplug if you'd like and go out to meditate on our tree trunk bench. Enjoy a leisurely walk down to the river and dip in for an invigorating swim or just chill out on the grass at Tetherow Park. We've create a unique and peaceful getaway for AirBnB guests. If you come for exploration and vacation, this is the right place. The guest bedroom is the biggest bedroom in the house, and it has a large window with a beautiful view. The Round House is meant to be a relaxing getaway, but we are not the Ritz-Carlton. This is a relaxed family household that is full of love and good energy. We try to keep things casual and low key and expect that our guests do the same. We have opened up our home for travelers because this is the kind of place that we would have loved to have stayed in on our own vacations. If you are the kind of guest that expects things to be fancy and upscale, you might consider staying at one of the many resorts in the Bend/Redmond area. This place is for guests who want a simple, clean, unique and nature filled vacation. If you notice that there is some amenity or comfort that you wish you had that we didn't provide, please let us know during your trip instead of in a review afterward. We are a working family that has tried to think of everything, but have come across the occasional persnickety guest that doesn't understand what most AirBnB hosts provide. Everyone is welcome at the Round House, we just want people to understand exactly what it is that we provide (which is definitely a lot of bang for your buck!). The price is for your stay in the Round House is cheaper than the Motel 6 on the busy highway 97 here in town. Please keep that in mind as you review our place, as reviews are incredibly important to the success of our business. There are games and puzzles in the closet if you want to stay in after a long day out and we highly recommend getting a growler beer fill in town if you enjoy local brews. You're more than welcome to borrow one of the growlers sitting on the green hutch. Guest AccessGuests can access the downstairs bedroom, bathroom and living room. You are also more than welcome to come socialize with us (mostly Matt) upstairs and enjoy the 2nd story 3/4 wrap-around deck. You have access to the kitchen and also the grill. We'd like to say we have breakfast for you, but you are mostly on your own unless you hear otherwise. Interaction with GuestsGuests are more than welcome to ask questions about the area or join us for a cup of coffee on the deck before your start off on your daily adventures. Matt know about trails, biking, BLM (Bureau of Land Management) public land space, breweries, restaurants and a bit of history of the city. We also invite guests to our semi-regular campfires in the backyard, but ask that you do not have your own without our prior permission. The NeighborhoodThe Round House is located in a very unique section of Redmond called Tetherow Crossing. Most residents here have between 2 - 5 acres with all kinds of farms, ranches and animals. There are several packs of deer that scamper around the neighborhood, so please drive safely and slowly. Redmond is an amazing city that is often in the shadow of Bend. My family chose to live here instead of Bend because of the small town feel with all of the amenities of a city. We live within a short drive from Steelhead Falls, Smith Rock, Odin Falls (hard to find) and a scenic bridge view over the Crooked River. We have breweries and restaurants and if need be, we can always drive into Bend if we are looking for a "scene" or live music or sports event. AREA ATTRACTIONS: Big Sky Balloon Co.* Lake Billy Chinook Maragas Winery* Peter Skene Ogden State Park Smith Rock State Park DD Ranch* Juniper Brewing* *Our friends run these places, so you will be sure to get great service! Getting AroundYou will want a car if you are staying here, unless you are really into cycling! We have ample room for parking or outdoor camping if you'd rather sleep under the stars. Bring a bike/kayak/fishing pole and enjoy any number of outdoor activities within a short distance from the front door. Other Things to NoteWe have a six year old son that tends to act like a six year old boy. He knows to give you your space, but if you engage him, you might find yourself learning about Legos, Pokemon and Skylanders video games. The old Tetherow Bridge just went under construction (as of August 19th, 2016 and is expected to be under construction until Mid November, 2016). There will likely be construction noise at the house during weekdays from around 7:30am - 4:00pm, but the nights are extra quiet due to the road being closed. If you have kids and would like to rent out his room (Bunk Bed Rooms at the Round House), this can be arranged, please let us know. During your stay, you will have private use of the downstairs Jack and Jill bathroom. This modest-sized bathroom features a COMPACT SHOWER STALL and TOILET that are definitely on the smaller side of standard. The shower is a bit snug. If you stay during the week, we tend to get up around 7:30 or 8:00 and our schedule is quite varied from day to day. Bed time for Ike in the summer is around 8:30 - 9:00pm. We also have a small dog named Terrie and cat named Cinnamon. Lastly, if this is your first AirBnB trip and you haven't registered yet, you can get a $30 travel credit by using our registration code: www.airbnb.com/c/mgilman4

The SpaceI originally purchased Fallen Snag ten years ago because of my love of climbing & it's proximity to Smith Rock State Park. But over time, I have come to embrace what Terry Tempest Williams evokes in her poem Wild Mercy: "To protect what is wild is to protect what is gentle. Perhaps the wildness we fear is the pause between our own heartbeats, the silent space that says we live only by grace. Wilderness lives by this same grace. Wild mercy is in our hands." Given that I live in the Seattle area, I am pleased to be able to share this wonderful refuge with like minded others. The lodge itself has two separate, private bedroom suites, each w/ a Queen sized bed & its own private bathroom & shower, and sliding door access to the deck or patio. There is also a bonus room w/ sofa & desk w/ sliding opaque glass doors. It can be used as a reading room or overflow for a sofa-surfing child or guest. The gourmet kitchen has a gas fired stove & oven, frig, dishwasher & is fully furnished w/ pots & pans, cooking utensils & a complete set of dishes, glasses & cutlery for up to 8 people. The dining room seats 6, while the adjacent kitchen countertop seats 4. The living room comes w/ a sofa, 2 easy chairs, and a high efficiency compact Norwegian wood stove. Well water is filtered & purified. The house is well insulated and is relatively cool in the summer given it's northern exposure, w/ windows open at night + fans running in the living/dining room, bonus room & master bedroom suite. Guests have access to the powder room (across from the front door entrance) through which there is a door to the utility room. A washer/dryer in the alcove next to the dining room are accessible via sliding doors. There is adequate parking in the driveway roundabout. Guest AccessThe cabin is a short 1 mile drive from the Smith Rock State Park trailhead via a winding dirt road. Guests should plan on arriving during daylight hours since there are no streetlights and the lodge is much harder to find at night. Interaction with GuestsI am reachable via cellphone as needed. Getting AroundA vehicle is really essential. Other Things to NotePlease take note again that there is no TV, internet access, DVD player, etc. at the property. There may be a hiking book or a leftover novel or 2 from a past vacation or guest. The lodge is a place to take a break from the rush of our usual lives and sink into the beautiful surroundings, the quiet of nature and enjoy the company of the ones you're with.

The SpaceThe Good Earth is a very unique rural location in a small neighborhood a little over 4 miles away from Smith Rock State Park. The Good Earth is located high on a hill overlooking the farm fields of the Terrebonne valley so the views of Smith Rocks, the Cascades, and even a distant Mt. Hood are simply incredible. Our sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking, and the stars are absolutely brilliant since there is no light pollution. There are raised beds with lettuce, asparagus, herbs, potatoes and garlic (when in season). In addition to that we have 19 free roaming chickens that provide eggs for all of our guests to enjoy. This is a lovely 3 bedroom 2 bath home that will sleep up to 16 people if the 4 full futon beds are used in addition to the traditional bedrooms. When it is not fire season we also can stoke up our wood fired soaking tub to relax in after enjoying all that the great outdoors of Central Oregon has to offer. Guest AccessThe access here is the full house and yard. We are sorry but due to the chickens and 2 very special shop cats (not in the rental) we do not allow dogs. Interaction with GuestsWe live only 4 houses away at the bottom of the hill so we are always available to answer questions, start the soaking tub, troubleshoot any issues, or provide other items that guests might need for the house. If you don't need us for anything, you won't see us other than caring for the chickens or if Mark needs supplies from the shop. The NeighborhoodWe are at the end of a paved private road (although our driveway is gravel). There is one way in and out so there is no drive by traffic. The speed limit is 15 mph, and we ask that guests respect that. There is also no smoking at the house or anywhere in the neighborhood due to the nature of our location. The properties in our area are 1.5 to 2 acres in size, so there is privacy, safety and space. Although it feels remote, we are only a mile from Highway 97 and 4 miles from Redmond. We are on a community water system of 73 homes that draw from the same aquifer as Earth20, so we have excellent pure drinking water. Various properties in the neighborhood and surrounding area have horses, sheep, alpacas and burros. You can also expect to see deer, jackrabbits, cottontails, quail and even an occasional skunk wondering through. Getting AroundYou can pop down our road and onto Hwy 97 quickly and from there head out to anywhere in the Terrebonne, Redmond, Sisters, Prineville or Bend areas. Other Things to NoteThere is a lovely 3 mile loop trail that runs behind the house. The trailhead is marked off the gravel parking area, and takes visitors up to a sweeping view of the Cascade Mt. Range. We do have an Oregon State Park day use pass available for use during your stay. Finally, we are on a septic system so please be aware that only appropriate paper can be used at The Good Earth and we will be happy to go over that when you arrive.

Other amenities and on-site features include daily sunrise yoga and guided meditation; turndown service with a nightly complimentary foot bath; a lounging pool with stunning views of the surrounding area; a spa with massage and body treatments, including optional cannabis oil therapies; a walking labyrinth and nature trails; a dining pavilion with a large fire pit; an indoor lounge and art gallery with a big wood-burning fireplace; and an owners’ reception with local kombucha, wine, champagne and beer provided each evening. For those interested in the non-inclusive rates, please inquire with the host.
