The SpaceThe house oozes character having been completely build from recycled items from renovated properties in Cape Town. From the antique mahogany doors leading to the main bedroom to the balcony railing made from wattle wood from the farm, the property strives to minimize its foot print and to reuse recycle and renew. There is a rugby sized front lawn, and oak and poplar forests along the stream banks for shade and cool spots in summer. Guest AccessGuests have full access to all areas of the farm and are encouraged to explore - from the river banks, to the olive grove. The farms boundaries are the neighbors vineyard through which you enter, and then the two streams. The bot rivier, and one of its tributaries. Adventure out and see if you can find the island! Rest under the ancient oak trees planted by Willem van der Stel which shade the house and river banks. Play boules on the 5,000 m2 front lawn. Picnic under the poplars, rest in the pool, or enjoy the outdoor private bathroom. Interaction with GuestsJulian lives on the farm in the flat next to the main house on weekends, and a day or two during the week, but works in Cape Town. The area has been carefully designed so that guests and owner have completely separate spaces, and you will have complete privacy, unless you wish otherwise. Interaction will be as often or not as you require. There is internet in the farm, but little to none cell phone reception. The NeighborhoodIts farm country! Apart from the very occasional car driving along the van der Stell pass in the distance, there is no noise except for the birds, bees, and the occasional cow mooing across the stream. The silence is only matched by the stars on a clear night, and picnic blankets are provided to lie in the middle of the field or olive grove at night and watch the milky way. Getting AroundYou will need your own transport, as there is no public transport anywhere nearby. The farm is on a 3km dirt road (van der Stel pass), which is in excellent condition as it is used by the local apple trucks. Any car (except low sports cars) will be able to make the drive. Other Things to NoteWhilst other animals will joint the farm, currently there are just the three cats. You are welcome to bring your dogs as well as they are well behaved and get on with cats, and are happy to roam.
