The SpaceThe farm can sleep 32 people in total, and offers accommodation to suit all tastes. There are 6 rooms available, and 3 self-catering chalets. All of the rooms are spacious, and the two luxury rooms have an en-suite bath and shower. (Bed linen and towels are included) The spacious open plan lounge and restaurant has a TV room and large fireplace. Traditional farm cuisine or a Karoo-braai can be enjoyed under flawless starlit skies. We also cater for special diets. Our spacious home is a place of true peace and we invite you to escape the crowds and come and relax with us. We recently expanded our beautiful guesthouse on demand. The “Vellewaenhuis” – meaning – ‘The Shed’ in Afrikaans, was converted, and now boasts 3 new self-catering chalets. These units are modern, and ideal for a family stay. If you enjoy good old fashioned Karoo cooking (with a modern twist), then our Guesthouse farm kitchen is for you! From fresh eggs from the farm, to delicious Karoo lamb and seasonal veggies…. your taste buds will be spoilt! (Please note that no meals are included. We have a variety of options available on request and at an additional cost) Guest AccessOn this beautiful farm there are more than 80 different bird species, as well as the protected Blue Crane, and the endangered Black Eagle. There are also several sites on the farm where Bushman art is prolific. (Some of these sites contain unusual Rock “etchings”.) Our uninterrupted terrain is “heaven” for mountain bikers; as we have a very nice single track with a rating of 9/10 by Cape Epic Cyclists. There is a nice running trail too, and you can take long meandering walks in the “veld” here. There is a communal farm dam too, which is a MUST in Summer! Our neighbouring farm is ‘Noblesfontain Wind Farm’ which has recently been completed, and guided tours to the Widfarm can be arranged. Enjoy champagne on the mountain and enjoy the beautiful sunset views! Other added bonus’s to the Guesthouse is the quaint little Dollhouse for the kids to play in, a Gym and Personal Trainer on hand, as well as a qualified Medical nursing sister. Interaction with GuestsYour hosts at Desert Dew Guesthouse, are Henk and Erika Marais. They have 3 children, and have lived on this farm for more than 22 years. They love it when guests arrive to enjoy their hospitality, and the beautiful and tranquil farm surroundings. Children under 12 years pay a discounted rate and children under 2 years stay for free. Breakfast is NOT included, we do however have a variety of meals available on request and at an additional cost.
