The SpaceThe Extra Room is a spacious apartment overlooking the lush Tillamook Valley. Tillamook is centrally located on the Oregon Coast. We are located 70 miles due west of Portland on the central Oregon Coast, which is twenty minutes from Netarts, Oceanside beach, and Cape Mears, an hour & 15 minutes to Cannon Beach, 45 minutes to Pacific City, or an hour and a half to Portland and everything in between.
In town, you can visit the Tillamook Cheese Factory, Blue Heron (French Cheese, wine tasting, petting zoo), Pelican Brewing Company, the Pioneer Museum, the Farmer's Market, Latimer Textile Center to follow the quilt square tour, or head to the beach a meer 20 minute scenic drive away. We are close to fishing, clamming, kayaking, cycling, and good seafood eats.
A comfy queen bed, kitchenette, and private entrance await you. In the apartment is a mini fridge, stove, microwave, dining table, shower, Dish network, web access, and games. The queen bed is perfect for a couple and there is a fold-out futon sofa comfortable for a child or extra person. There is ample free parking and a yard, picnic table, and deck to enjoy. This is a great place to sleep in and relax. The only neighbors you may hear are the birds nesting in our trees.
Although we'd love to meet you, we travel for work and play ourselves, so in our absence, we have innkeepers.
There is a coastal bus that provides transportation from Portland, Salem and along the Oregon Coast. The bus connects to other systems on the north end to Washington and south on to California. There is also a town loop.
Although this space is all on one level with no stairs to navigate, it is not actually handi-capable because of the gravel access path to the door or no roll-in shower. Guest AccessThe apartment includes one bedroom, one bathroom with shower, kitchen, dining and den, piano, yard, picnic table, deck, and driveway. The bedroom and den may be separated with a privacy curtain. In the den we have a smart flat screen TV and a pull-out futon to accommodate a child or extra guest. Interaction with GuestsWe love to visit and talk with our guests! We do travel quite a bit for work and pleasure, so we are in and out and about; however, we have a lovely friend who manages the property--- on-call or on-site to accommodate guests. The NeighborhoodWe live on a hillside, no neighborhood, but are five minutes from town. We don't hear human neighbors, just birds and an occasional elk or deer family passing through. Getting AroundThere is a county bus that has a town loop, connects with northern and southern counties and travels from Portland to the coast twice a day. The bus connects to Salem, too. Bike transport is available as well. Other Things to NoteThere is a full kitchen with apartment size refrigerator. We have air-conditioning we seldom need here on the coast; but, will be glad to turn it on should you like things cooler.
