The apartment is zero carbon and solar powered w. a flat screen TV, blu-ray dvd, & wi-fi internet. It has a fully stocked state of the art kitchen w. new energy star appliances and granite counters. This light, bright apartment is nestled in a box canyon overlooking the ocean near downtown Malibu. It backs up onto a nature preserve. So it is rustic and peaceful with lots of birds, hawks, parrots, deer, coyotes, bobcats, and goats. It is a great place to watch birds, and has access to several mountain bike trails. The apartment is convenient to all that Malibu and Santa Monica have to offer. The bus stops one half mile away on the Pacific Coast Highway. The SpaceTranquil and peaceful, a stay here is really like being at your own private retreat! We are a blissful two minutes away from the noise and hubbub of Pacific Coast Highway but close enough to easily enjoy all that Malibu has to offer. The one-bedroom pool house has a stunning ocean view with Catalina Island visible on most days. It is an incredibly quiet sanctuary with only the sounds of birdsong and the waves crashing on Carbon Beach below. The house is surrounded by organic avocado and lemon trees and has a private patio at the entrance and a wrap-around deck. Furnished with authentic mid-century furniture and all the comforts of home. Fully equipped kitchen features a brand new professional Viking range and refrigerator. Super efficient A/C and heat keep the temperature perfect. Strong Wi-Fi is provided as well as a Harmon Kardon wireless speaker for music. Guest AccessA private set of stairs leads guests down to the pool house from the driveway and is completely separate from the main house. A spiral staircase outside the pool house door takes guests from the living quarters to the pool deck above. Interaction with GuestsAs needed! We (a family of three) live in the main house and our dear friend Skylar manages all bookings for us. The pool house is a stand alone house completely separate from the main house and faces the ocean, away from the main house. The NeighborhoodWe are located in the Carbon Canyon area of Malibu, two miles from the beach and the heart of downtown Malibu with shops, markets and restaurants close at hand. Malibu is a large area-- 27 miles, with many remote canyons-- but we are centrally located and a quick 20 minutes from Santa Monica (without traffic). Guests can go to dinner at Nobu and be home in five minutes. Our canyon isn't really a "neighborhood"-- no sidewalks or street lights. Lots of wide open space, very few neighbors and an enormous ocean view. The closest beaches are Carbon Beach, one mile away (look for signs on PCH indicating Public Beach Access) and Surfrider Beach (otherwise known as "Malibu Beach") two miles to the north. Nature abounds here and the rural surroundings, privacy and spectacular ocean views provide a very laid back environment. Staying in the pool house is truly like being at your own private retreat, a perfect place to decompress and restore. Getting AroundYou will need a car to really experience Malibu. Other Things to NotePlease PRINT OUT and BRING the Directions/House Manual that you will receive upon booking! That way you will know exactly where to come and how to check-in. We communicate with guests via the Airbnb website-- please download the Airbnb app or check the website for messages. Uber and Lyft are not possible from our property. The pool house does not have a T.V. and cell phone service can be spotty or non-existent in most of Malibu, depending on your carrier. The Wifi in the pool house is strong. No PARTIES, EVENTS, WEDDINGS OR PHOTO SHOOTS allowed at our property. Professional photo and film shoots are handled by our property's agent, Catherine Meyler and Associates. Two overnight guests maximum. GPS is not always reliable in Malibu. Please refer to the itinerary you will receive upon booking for detailed directions and arrival instructions. Because of Malibu's rural environment (no street lights, limited signage) we strongly recommend arriving during daylight hours. We have a very social white Golden Retriever named Finn who will insist on greeting you! 100% cotton bedding and towels are provided and we use only natural, chemical-free detergent, soaps and cleaning supplies. Washer/dryer and storage facility for luggage is adjacent to the pool house and is specifically for guests' use. The pool is unheated and will be very comfortable during the summer and early fall but quite cold in the winter and early spring! The pool house is accessed via a private set of railroad tie and gravel stairs to the LEFT of the main house, below the guest parking area. The stairs may not be suitable for some guests. We have, however, hosted several pregnant women (in their third trimester!) who have not had a problem. The interior photos of the pool house show the rental. The main house where we live is not for rent and is a completely separate structure on the property. September and October are typically the warmest months in Malibu and most tourists are gone by then-- it's the best time to visit! Migrating grey whales are visible from our property in the fall and spring.

If you want to stay local you can use the two bikes we have and get around the neighborhood and town of Topanga very easily. There are also Taxi and Uber services that you can call to drive you for a price. Other Things to NoteParking is only available for one car, directly in front of the house main door entrance. Visitors or extra cars must park in the road. We share the driveway with the house behind us, so the main driveway cannot be blocked. There is a set of stairs that lead to the lower outdoor deck as well as the laundry facility. I mention this so you are aware that you must be comfortable going up and down a flight of stairs to access laundry and the lower deck. Wireless internet is available. The phone reception can generally be spotty up in the mountains, and is not guaranteed; although most all guests have not had major issues with this.

The SpaceMalibu 3 bedroom 2 bath Nantucket Style Chic and Modern 1924 Beach Bungalow, fully remodeled in 2011. All new wood floors and kitchen cabinets and marble counters installed in March 2015. After 5 years of renting beach houses along the Malibu coastline we decided to buy our own piece of paradise and now share it with you. We learned a lot about what we wanted and put it all into this house. We call it "The Bu" and are confident you will enjoy it as much as we do! As you can see in the pictures, the house is on the sand (on a private beach; no public access) and you can surf and paddle board right on our beach. The house is essentially on a wet/dry beach depending on whether it's high or low tide. That means that during high tide, the water will come up to the house and during low tide, you can go for walks along the beach, explore the tide pools, etc. It's a good idea to check the tide chart at (URL HIDDEN) when planning your trip and days while staying here. Also, during times of high surf, it can wash away sand, leaving the beach rocky. Once you get here, you won't want to leave, but in case you do, you are just minutes from the Santa Monica Pier, the Malibu Country Mart/Lumberyard (fantastic shopping and restaurants), the Malibu Pier, Venice, and much more. Not only does it kiss the Pacific Ocean but it also is minutes from all the downtown attractions. Plus, it is only a few miles from Santa Monica, so the possibilities for activity, adventure, shopping, touring, and relaxation are endless. Our house is located 2 1/2 miles south of the Malibu Pier/Malibu Country Mart and 8 miles north of the Santa Monica Pier. About an hour's drive to Disneyland; 2 hours to San Diego (Legoland/San Diego Zoo). Close to a number of wonderful hiking and biking trails, parks, horseback riding tours, camping sites, and wine tastings. The SpaceThe Chianti Life Retreat in Topanga Canyon – You have to experience it to believe it!!! Choose the gorgeous main cottage with its Romantic European Charm, a master bedroom that looks out into the tops of the trees, 30 feet over our stream-fed creek, it’s large clawfoot bathtub and European linens, or choose our Magical Dream Dome Tree house, where you can go to sleep on an 18th century French bed, under an enormous skylight watching the stars and the moon, and wake up to the trees and birds overhead. Add a massage, a Tai Chi or Yoga Session, or a 5-Course French or Italian dinner by Chef Ciel outdoors on the expansive wooden bridge that connects the two. Enjoy the wine, the flowers, Ciel’s famous scones and granola as you sit by the fire to read, write, or just be at one with nature in the deep-set canyon surrounding you. Lie back and feel the welcoming and protective nature of the sun shining quietly through the live oak trees spread above you. A typical response from one of our guests says it all. “I am not sure if the words are enough to describe this experience…Out of this World…Magical…Enchanted…The Chianti Life experience I had was one of a kind. The SpaceHello! Welcome! Please read my entire listing before messaging, as I have comprehensive coverage for most all questions! Additionally, I do adhere to all of my rules & guidelines! No exceptions! Rules are: 2 guest maximum, no pets, no children of any age, etc.. The AirBnB app does not show what I do not allow, only what I do! Please check this listing on a desktop computer, so you understand what I do allow/do not allow before messaging. No parties/events/weddings on my property. HOME DETAILS: Come relax up in Topanga & get away! 1 Bedroom Guest House located in the Heart of the canyon for nightly & weekly rentals! The entire property has waterfalls, ponds & a tropical themed environment. The guest house has 1 queen sized bed & can accommodate a maximum of two guests comfortably. There is also a kitchenette with mini fridge, stovetop, complete with coffee maker & filters, dishes/pots/pans & washer/dryer on site (the washer/dryer is for stays of 5+ days). Unit does not have A/C, but has ceiling fans in the bedroom, along with sliding glass & screen doors in each room allowing for ventilation. PARKING: 1 carport parking spot is available, along with extra parking along the road. The road is paved, but has no sidewalks alongside. CELL PHONE & INTERNET: Wireless internet is available, along with a cell signal booster. Reception can be spotty up in the mountains, and is not guaranteed; although most all guests have not had issues. NEIGHBORHOOD: Topanga is a charming, countryside neighborhood adjacent to Los Angeles & very safe. I've lived here for over 30 years, and never had any issues. COMMUTE: My house is about 15 minutes drive from Santa Monica, 20 minutes from Malibu & 15 minutes to Woodland Hills, 30 minutes to LAX. Without traffic, I'm about 35 minutes from Hollywood, 40 minutes from downtown, 25 minutes to West Los Angeles/Culver City. To get a better idea of commute, I'm central in Topanga, so if you check a map for Topanga, CA & get directions from there, you'll be able to estimate distances. ARE THERE ANIMALS ON THE PROPERTY? No. I do not allow any animals in the guest house, nor are there any on the property (for those of you with allergy concerns). For those who need petsitting: LADogma is a great local option where dogs stay comfortably in a home in Topanga. Just look up "LADogma" for more info. IS THIS A FAMILY RENTAL? My rental is Adults Only - No children of any age allowed (including infants)! Due to a unique property structure, with many stone stairways, ponds, firepit, size of guest house, etc., I remain firm on my policy of (2) adult guests maximum per stay. Many families try to message me asking for an exception; but I do remain firm on this rule, due to liability & safety concerns. I'm happy to host just parents for a romantic getaway, though! ACCESSIBILITY: There are several long flights of stone steps leading up to the guesthouse. This shouldn't be a problem for most people (and i'm happy to help with luggage), but if you have trouble with stairs, this may not be the place for you. I've had multiple pregnant women manage the stairs late in their term, but these stairs may also be a concern for pregnant women on bed rest. SENSITIVE? Sheets are 100% cotton, 600 thread count - I use all natural laundry detergents, for those of you with allergy concerns! I also provide organic soaps, all cotton towels & robes. Please do let me know if you have allergies though, so I can be extra scent-sitive! SURFING? If you'd like this to be a surf getaway, I'm happy to loan you one of my boards with your security deposit acting as collateral! I have kayaks & stand-up paddle boards available for use - but note that you'll need a truck or SUV to get them down to the beach (I don't allow guests to tie the boards to a standard car, even with a roof rack - I don't want my boards to be damaged). I've been surfing & diving for many years locally, and would be happy to give you some pointers on location, etc.. PHOTOGRAPHER? If you are a photographer looking to use my property as a location for a shoot, please note that I don't include shoots as part of a "package" deal when staying at the guest house. If you try to sneak a shoot on my property, this will result in a negative rating and/or loss of security deposit! Please mention any relevant photography in your message, as I would require that we arrange a shoot outside of AirBnB. I use my properties as locations, so a location fee would be required, along with standard insurance, etc.. If you'd like to take a few casual snapshots on my property for strictly personal use, that's fine. Guest AccessAMENITIES: BRAND NEW TIPI on property! For hanging out & lounging! Also featuring: outdoor bathtub, indoor stone shower, wireless internet, satellite television, outdoor firepit, HD flat screen TV with DVD player, DVD library, microwave, toaster oven, stove top, mini fridge, kitchen with coffee maker/filters/tea, dishes & pots & pans, towels, shampoo & body wash, hot tub with crystal fireplace, BBQ, year-round springs & waterfalls, filtered water, tropical gardens surrounding guest house, large decks & patios, great views, outdoor bed for napping, hammocks, 1 car carport parking, & more. Interaction with GuestsPRIVACY: The guesthouse is a stand-alone unit, private & faces a large lawn with firepit (as shown in the photos). I do have a gardener, you may get a glimpse of and/or myself maintaining grounds. The hot tub is reserved for your use, from 10 am to 10 pm (other tenants have their own hot tub). I live on the property, remotely & away from view of the guesthouse, but am reachable by phone call. Many couples stay at my property for romantic getaways & aside from check in, I sometimes I do not see them for the entire weekend/they do not see anyone, unless they call on me for assistance. All amenities including lawn & hot tub are reserved for AirBnB Guests during listed hours; but know that you may see an occasional person who will not disturb you. If you call me, I will come down & start a fire or BBQ for you! I interact as little or as much as guests like - Some people like to spend their entire time secluded, and I only appear to give a welcome property tour. Other people who have stayed hung out with me & we've had some BBQ & talked about life around the fire. My level of interaction depends on your preference! HOST COMMUNICATION: Cell reception is poor in the canyon (as mentioned), so I only accept phone calls from guests who are staying in the guest house. It helps ensure that I'm able to address your questions readily & easily. The NeighborhoodFUN FACT: As featured in Cody Simpson's music video, "Love." (URL HIDDEN) LOCAL POINTS OF INTEREST: AirBnB does a great job of covering Topanga! Check out their location guide here: https://www.airbnb.com/locations/los-angeles/topanga Topanga State Beach is an 8 minute drive & Topanga State Park is about a 5 minute drive. In Topanga, there are many hiking trails, some with eight thousand year-old Indian caves & waterfalls. Mimosa Cafe is the village coffee shop, which is a 10 minute hike down the hill. Just across the way from Mimosa, there is a natural foods store & a little mini market. Santa Monica & Malibu are a beautiful 15 minute drive along Pacific Coast Highway. Suggested local restaurants would be Inn of the Seventh Ray, Froggy's & Cholada Thai food. Great restaurants in Malibu are Geoffrey's, Nobu Sushi & Cafe Habana. The closest large grocery store is a Von's Market, located on Sunset Blvd. There's also a natural foods market & deli in Malibu, named PC Greens. Additionally, a local raw smoothie & juice bar has opened recently, about a 5 minute drive from my place called Fresh in Topanga! Getting AroundPUBLIC TRANSIT: there is no public transit in Topanga Canyon -- you will need a car! The closest public transit is the MTA line 534, which runs along Pacific Coast Highway. Other Things to NoteTOPANGA WILDLIFE: As Topanga is rural, I request that guests be aware & keep tidy while staying at the guest house. This helps me prevent raccoons from getting into dishes that are left outdoors, and to control ants. I do have the occasional ant issue in the kitchen after untidy guests leave dishes & food lying out, but I address the ants continually. Ants are a seasonal issue in Topanga, only coming out for the warmer months.

The SpaceClose to it all, yet worlds away... This hidden cottage is perched atop a glorious bluff on a 23 acre gated mountaintop estate overlooking the lush Santa Monica Mountains. Escape down the country lane into complete privacy and serenity, yet be less than a mile to restaurants, entertainment, yoga and stores. Hike in 10,000 acre Topanga State park or take in the many nearby beaches. Shop the high-end boutiques of Malibu or Santa Monica, enjoy glorious sunsets and misty mornings or bike the hundreds of miles of trails of Topanga State Park straight from the front door. Horse riding facilities, theater, surf lessons, kite boarding, artist studios, seasonal festivals, Docent-led nature walks, miles of beaches all within 30 minutes of studios and Hollywood. The Cottage has full kitchen, dishwasher and laundry. 2 bedrooms, one bath. The bath has a large tiled shower and laundry. Huge living area opens to a private park-like back yard with fruit trees and views. The cottage is bright and bathed by the sun through the huge windows. Watch the sunset under beautiful ancient Oaks and Pepper trees. Buy fresh produce, jams and baked goods at the weekly Farmers market. Fall in love with the LA lifestyle. The NeighborhoodFirst some random things we like to do in LA with kids: Ride bikes on the path in Santa Monica - rent them from the shop near the pier and ride them all the way to Venice beach (if you are really ambitious you can go as far as Manhattan Beach) or, for a more of a canyon work out, rent them from Topanga Creek Bycicles (phone number hidden) and join one of the weekend group rides that start from the shop. Very strenuous, but amazing. Farmers market on Sundays in Santa Monica on Main St. - super fun, good food, music, people watching and don't miss our own Farmer's Market on Fridays at the Inn of The Seventh Ray from 9-1 Go to the pool at Annenberg Comminity Beach House (eat breakfast at Back on The Beach, swim, read by the pool, run on the beach) or Calabasas pool if it's cold at the beach, it is sure to be hot in Calabasas! Griffith Park observatory in Hollywood - short hike or drive right up, cool views of the city Take a scenic drive on PCH to Neptunes Net for seafood, eat there or take to go and walk to the beach for a picnic, watch the sunset. LA Zoo - it's all the way in Griffith Park (45 min away), but the zoo is very cool, the elephant exhibit is awesome. Disneyland - 1.5 hours away, "The Happiest Place on Earth" ;) (I hate it) Legoland - 2 hours away, great for little kids, the Small Town USA is cool (all the major cities made out of Legos), but an older kid will be bored unless a huge lego fan. Universal Studios Hollywood - on the lot, has rides (the new Transformers ride) Take a ferry or a boat to Catalina Island - several cool hotels and restaurants Santa Barbara Zoo 2 hours away - much smaller than LA, but we like going there for the day, I love Santa Barbara Laguna Beach Tidepools - go at low tide, amazing Here is my beaches and hikes breakdown: Easy and close: Topanga Beach You can Park on PCH, facing south: turn into American Apparel, then get back on PCH and park along the PCH, walk down. Great tide pools at low tide, my kids love it, great for boogie boarding between Chart House and the Life Guard House, great surf spot, but rocky, have to be a good surfer. We usually get fish tacos from Reel Inn or Thai Food at Cholada Beach Cusine (our favorite) right across the street. Great classic Cali beach with wide breaks and big waves: Will Rogers(Palisades) or Zuma(Malibu). Great long breaks, perfect for boogie boarding can be crowded on weekends. Best beginner surf spot: Malibu Lagoon, you can even rent a board right there. Food across the way at Malibu Country Mart Santa Monica beaches are great too, but can be crowded during weekends, we like Annenberg Comunity Beach House, it has great facilities, pool, showers, Back On The Beach Cafe. Parking is $8, pool is about $5 a person. All Santa Monica beaches have food on the beach at Perry's cafe. Great secluded beach is at Leo Carillo, it's a bit far (45 minutes), but really nice, pack a picnik or eat at Malibu Seafood or Neptune's Net, bot a great for steamed or fried seafood (will be busy on weekends) . If you want to go to a restaurant on the beach: Paradise Cove (Malibu) is our favorite, but its all the way out there, so we make a day of it, you can grab a great beach spot, buy drinks and chill. Save your restaurant receipt, then parking is only 3 dollars (otherwise $20) Back on the beach Cafe (Santa Monica) we love it for breakfast, we'll park, eat breakfast, take our bikes for a nice long ride on the beach toward Venice beach or go to the pool at Annenberg Community Beach house, or go to the beach right there, waves are nice for surfing or boogie boarding. Gladstones (at Sunset Blvd), is good for happy hour or brunch Lobster (Santa Monica) is good for lunch or Happy Hour without kids Great family hikes in the area: right from the house: Trippet Ranch to Santa Yanez Falls (3.5m) Trippet Ranch to Eagle Rock (2m) Musch trail to Musch Camp (2m) Trippet Ranch to Highlands (7m) Red Rock (2 m away) easy hike for kids, caves and stone faces to climb) Back Bone Trail (1 m away) Great hike all the way up to saddle peak Tuna Canyon Hike (2m away) great views of the ocean, cool stone labyrinth at the top Solstice Canyon (25 min drive) Cool ruins, watherfall, scrambling on rocks Summit to Summit (2 m away park on Old Canyon) cool views of the valley, very easy for kids, can take bikes Shopping: 3rd St promenade and Santa Monica Mall (best outdoor mall ever, all the high-end brands but also lots of street performers, good restaurants and shops) lunch spots:don't miss the Market (the Curious Palette) on the third level, we also like Sonoma Wine garden for lunch or La Sandia (3rd floor) Rodeo Dr (have lunch at The Beverly Wilshire on the terrace) the famous Rodeo Dr shopping, I love Planet Blue (also on Montana Ave and in Malibu) Malibu Country Mart: love Maxfield at Malibu Lumber Yard also Salvation is good for casual surfer stuff (don't miss my favorite gelato shop next door: Grom) Lunch spot: Cafe Habana, I love it. Cafe Marmelade for brunch. Howdy's sucks and is expensive. Motana Ave: I love that street, that's where my yoga studio is, so I am there a lot. The SpaceSet in sprawling canyon views and brushed with a gentle ocean breeze, this is a Topanga gem, unique in that it gifts its dweller with a temperate climate all year round. Enveloped in natural beauty, with its own poetry at any time of day or year, it invites one to retreat in tranquil simplicity and comfort, yet within minutes to civilization. It is located minutes from the beach and surfing hot spots, nestled in between Malibu (10 minutes,) Pacific Palisades (10 minutes,) Santa Monica (15 minutes,) and the Woodland Hills (15 minutes.) Its private entrance leads you straight through a naturally landscaped yard harboring a growing orchard on the left, an herb garden on the right, all crowned by a gazebo with a swinging couch. The yard is in a canyon setting, with native plants and rock landscaping - ever changing with the season and climatic conditions. Punctuated by water fountain, bird baths and bird feeders, it is vibrant with birds and butterflies. Growing roses, arches and various artifacts add a secret garden charm to this sacred space. The path, gazebo and side terrace are covered with artificial turf softening the natural ruggedness of the terrain with visual greenery. It keeps moisture, drainage, and conserves precious water resources in our severely drought stricken SoCal. Proudly nestled underneath towering oak trees, the bungalow has a beach cottage feel, perched in the tree, and vintage white-washed wood planked floor. It has two outdoor living areas: a side terrace sheltered by an olive tree and a lattice covered patio, both expanding your living space, while gently transitioning you inside. Comfortable with standard amenities, it features one bright room with five strategic windows, and four environments blending harmoniously into each other: 1. a well appointed kitchen area with an electric gas stove and oven, a refrigerator, cabinets including all the cookery you need. You will also enjoy a toaster, a toaster oven (upon request,) a French Press coffee maker, a coffee grinder, an electric kettle, a blender and a food processor. Anything else you might need could be there just for the asking. I supply starter paper products. Once used up, you are responsible to buy your own; 2. the dining area has a table and two chairs; it can also serve as a work or study area. On the wall is a vintage planter with mirror; 3. the bedroom area features two comfortable full size beds - the top bed has a Tempurvedic mattress and pillows; the pull-out bed has a foam mattress. At the foot of the bed is a trunk holding regular pillows, blankets and a bed desk. All bedding is high quality and protected by hygienic anti allergic encasing. Next to the bed is a piece of furniture with shelves and drawers for your personal belongings. You can wheel it to the built-in closet to make room for the pull-out bed; 4. the walk-in closet has shelves and rods, and a horizontal mirror reflecting your image when sitting on the bed. It has its own lighting and is adorned by shabby chic white cotton curtains. The bathroom is separate, sparkling clean with white tiles from top to bottom. It has a delightful shower, sink and toilet, and two large high windows letting Nature peek in. Essentials including shampoo, soap and body wash with a full size door mirror will keep you well groomed. In the winter, a built-in electric heater and an electric blanket will keep you warm. A gentle space heater is also available instead of the wall heater. In the summer, the natural sea breeze will engage the fans for your cooling comfort. The Internet is high speed (FIOS.) Both rooms are bright with natural light pouring through seven windows into the stunning world of nature: five in the main room and two in the bathroom. Warm glow dimmable lights help create special atmosphere for relaxation. This cottage is well appointed, well cared for and has a spacious feel. Walking out, you are back on a private lattice covered patio providing enjoyment for outdoor living. There you can eat, relax, and congregate with nature, relish in the morning sun, stargaze, and observe wild life feeding, bathing and visiting. There are two comfortable patio chairs and a small table for your use. A planter with seasonal vine-like vegetable growing on a fence provides privacy from the main house. This is a good place to take a break from the city, the busy-ness of life, to unleash your creativity, or retreat. You can expect cleanliness, beauty of the surroundings, nature and civilization working together. The day weaves a visual tapestry of trees and vegetation, among which California Oaks, Olive trees, massive boulders, fern and wild flowers. The night orchestrates a rich symphony, conducting owls, crickets, and a wide variety of wild life. Sheltering it all, the sky will dazzle its gazer, weather allowing. It is best if you can avoid rush hours (7-9 am downward, 5-7pm upward) to drive down the Canyon. During these times, the 6 minute drive to Pacific coast Highway can turn into 20 minutes. There is public transit on PCH and a beach bus all year around down the canyon. Topanga is a small town within a large city; offering the best of both worlds, it shelters a spirited community in spectacular surroundings. It is my joy to share it with you. Guest AccessThe lattice covered patio outside the front door, and the side terrace are private to the bungalow, while the the gazebo perched on the hill under the olive tree is common ground to both dwellings - main house and studio - should there be visitors in the main house during your visit. All three areas provide for substantial outdoor living. The bungalow is separated from the main house by a planter with seasonal vine type vegetables. Although relatively close to each other, the two buildings are set in a world of their own in complete privacy, each with its own private entrance. The rentable area is surrounded by a wooden fence. Beyond the wooden fence is a another lot where I live and work. It is undeveloped, I am often working on reconfiguring the shape of the earth there. Generally, you will seldom see or hear me. I strive to protect your privacy while being available if you need. There is a Coin Laundry up Topanga Canyon, on the corner of Ventura Blvd, Woodland Hills. No laundry facility is available on the premises. Interaction with GuestsI am happy to welcome you and help in any way that I can offering suggestions and recommendations upon request, or leave you in complete privacy if you prefer. The NeighborhoodThere is no long winding road that lead to the cottage, yet it is nestled in the Topanga woods amidst California Oak, olive, and pine trees. The neighborhood offers the best of all worlds: ocean, mountain and civilization; There are about 7 restaurants in towns including grill, fish, ethnic, spiritual, warm lively cafes and quaint boutiques, Farmer's Market, artistic venue, yoga/dance and performing arts studios. Don't miss a visit to "The Inn of the Seventh Ray," offering excellent Sunday brunches. You can also just sit for a cup of tea and a book or conversation. Very low key, yet breathtaking setting. The Canyon is strewn with stunning trails to hike or mountain bike. Should you long for beautiful beaches and surfing hotspots, the ocean will be calling you... 6 minutes away. The SpaceA sweet little home that feels as if it's nestled in the trees - all the basics are here, and everything is kept clean and orderly, but really it's just a simple home and has aspects that I'd consider rustic. A very typical home for this canyon, known for its fantastic access to nature and its charming independent spirit. Completely comfortable and even a bit fairy tale-like, the pictures are true to the space and I'd never want to over promise to those in seek of luxury ;) My kids live with me here so there are plenty of their drawings on the walls, and various things of theirs that your children are welcome to play with if you visit as a family. There is an entire downstairs that I haven't photographed but it's hardwood floors and an open space - I use it to work on various projects and you're welcome to use it too, but just a heads up that it's colder down there. There is, however, a full second bathroom with a claw foot tub ... and infrared sauna! Lots of plenty privacy in this home. I'm available and happy to answer any questions or offer more details. Guest AccessThe entire home is available. Interaction with GuestsI may or may not be around to greet you but can arrange to have someone else give you an introduction to the house - if that's helpful. It's pretty self-explanatory, though. The NeighborhoodA slice of real nature and peace just a stone's throw from the attractions and resources of Los Angeles. Occasional sounds of traffic from the boulevard that cuts through the canyon from the ocean to the valley, but otherwise a very tranquil and meditative vibe. Getting AroundMust have a car - there's no public transit.
